Manga creator ONE first created One-Punch Man as a web comic, where it quickly went viral, garnering over 10,000,000 hits! Along with One-Punch Man, ONE also writes and draws another series called Mob Psycho 100.
The first quarter of this volume felt like all exposition which is rare for this series as the Class S heroes are ore or less introduce one-by-one as they are called to Heroes Association HQ, that is until City A is devastatingly attacked! They came from outer of space. Although interesting seeing the other Class S heroes in action this volume lacked the bite of the previous few, although the comedy was OK, but tough to thrive during a possible extinction-event! I should also mention that I really don't get a feel for the action artwork, but that is somewhat counterbalanced by the delicately nuanced artwork around the title characters movements and expressions. A 6 out of 12 Three Star read. 2023 read
Finally getting to the big-time action. All the big S-Class heroes and a weird tag-along in a super-secret mission to SAVE THE EARTH. Fun stuff! And the action starts right away, too!
Odd how almost no one realized that the tag-along broke through the ceiling and had already boarded the gigantic alien spacecraft right after it killed the entire city with one single attack. Or how after 4 minutes a quarter of all its systems and all it's low-level crew suddenly wound up dead. And how ALL the S-Class heroes are having a really hard time on the ground with a SINGLE baddie?
Alien invasion! 👽 BOROS! The final boss of the anime’s season 1 is here. We also finally meet all 16/17 of class S heroes (TORNADO MY GIRL), excluding the rank 1.....hmmm. 🔍👀 And the metal knight was absent...again. Anyways, I enjoyed this volume, especially the godly artwork (I can’t stress it enough) Let the fight continue! 👊🏼
Clearly, this sixth volume of One-Punch Man is an introduction to almost all the rank-S heroes, their personalities and powers. Suddenly, Genos and Puri-puri Prisoner who fought spectacularly against the Sea King are portrayed here as casuals when compared to the higher-ranking ones.
Yet this volume also shows that Saitama is cut among the rest, able to beat enemies single-handedly (no pun intended) as the other class S heroes are struggling just to beat one. We also see in this volume Saitama's gradual change of heart as he proclaimed that he is not a mere hero for fun, but now a professional hero.
The extra chapters are also interesting to read (and surprisingly heartfelt).
I really do like one punch man, the art is amazing. And the comedy is over the top. However so far it doesn't really feel like there is much plot or an actual story. An interesting read and i look forward to the next volume.
I still feel the lack of female characters. Just how long do I survive off Tornado?
Saitama is amazing as usual. But the story line of this volume was a bit dull for me. Also the violent tropes are getting a little repetitive. Sometimes I dont even understand the action moves, so i have to read(?) and re-read those pages.
None of the S-class Heroes are interesting except MAYBE, Watchdog man :P whats up with that guy ?
I don't want to compare.. ( lie: I do want to compare) but while reading mangas like Bleach or Naruto, I couldn't decide which of the characters were my favourite. Because all of them were so awesome! and in this manga i have to search for characters to love and obsess over! Thank God for Saitama. He is a bomb on his own. And Genos too (but only because he has no competition, I feel)
This was definitely the funniest volume so far. There was tons of great humor added into all the action scenes.
I love that a strong female character was finally added to this series in this volume. This series lacked any notable female characters until the introduction of Tornado. I’m interested in seeing how she develops as a character throughout the course of this series.
There was a bonus manga in this volume called “Salmon” and I wasn’t a fan of the bonus. I’m not a fan of jokes/humor revolving around suicide. If that isn’t your cup of tea either, I highly recommend not reading the bonus manga in this volume.
Ah so this volume covers the final 3rd of the anime. It's so action-packed. Saitama is still a sweetheart. It's a shame that the other heroes (apart from Silverfang) don't take him seriously.
I can only imagine how much fun it is to invent so many heroes.
It's really impressive how everyone successfully attribute a heroic act to anyone but Saitama. It's as if he was destined to never get the recognition he truly deserves. However, Saitama still continues to outdo any hero and do the impossible in this volume.
This is where he finally meets someone who seems strong enough to tickle him, but his demeanor continues to give us a hint of boredom. We also get a nice display of almost all the S-ranked hero and a glimpse of what they're like, which also leads to new subplots that promises to be exciting in the future.
The bonus chapter smoothly drops the cherry on top of the cake regarding Saitama and his natural (even if it's not intentional) display of heroism. Good stuff!
I am loving this series more and more. This one had a bit more shounen stuff, but I didn't mind, as it was mixed with delightful comedy, and funny faces from Saitama.
Though I am a bit bothered I am now up-to-date with this series and now will have to wait until the next book comes out, in July. Tooooo long, especially with that cliffhanger at the end of this volume. I want to know what happens to the aliens, to the heroes, to Saitama. Will they defeat this mega-threat? Or will the earth just be conquered by creepy aliens.
I also love that, while Saitama is Class B, he gets dragged in the meeting with all the S heroes. The looks of those guys when they saw him. Luckily there are some in the S-class that know what Saitama can do, and will defend him if needed. I still think it is a bit strange that Saitama is still B-class. Come on, that guy kills/defeats any monster in one punch, yet he is still class B? He saved so many people, and heroes, but I guess people just don't like him. Or maybe it is the fact he also has to do a text exam. :D
I had a laugh when at first there were Wind monsters, only to be replaced by aliens. The way it was done, it just made me laugh. It is parodying the other shounen manga so much with what they did in this one (and also in the other volumes).
Saitama is still my favourite character (his expressions, the things he does), though I have to say that I am loving Puri-Puri-Prisoner more and more with each volume. He is just so hilarious, and the way he acts, I am just rolling off my chair. How he just keeps going back to jail to add guys to his harem. :D Also his attack names are also just so fitting for him (Puri-Puri-Prisoner Angel ☆ Style). I do hope he will be around for a long time to come, I wouldn't want him to die during the alien encounter.
The way the seer died? And how everyone thought she was killed, while she actually died that way? I snorted, it was just funny that they all immediately thought she was killed, and then they were quite unsure what to think of how she actually died (Also who dies in that way?).
The art is still super amazing, I just love the details, and boy that maze/alienship 2 page spread? Wow. Just wow.
All in all, I will be eagerly awaiting the next volume, I want to know how this battle continues.
A back-to-back attack on mankind. This brings in the saying "There's always a bigger fish." We now get aliens! All of class S plus Saitama band together to fight! Great personality variety we get with both the heroes and the new villians. I loved it! Each attack sequence is very well drawn and easy to follow which I appreciate. We also get a small mini story on suicide in the back that involves salmon. Be sure to read it!
*I was given a copy of this manga in exchange for a fair, honest review.
Slowly getting up to date with this one. Trying to keep it to 2 volumes a month. Puri Puri is probably one of the weirdest characters for me so the cover? Yeesh. Finally getting into the big leagues with Saitama sitting amongst a meeting of the S-ranks like he belongs. Maybe he should've just sat in Blast's seat as number 1. A last minute warning from a seer on the earth and the same with an alien ship. All about prophecy it seems. I liked that the S-ranks are stepping up and Saitama's gone straight to the boss.

You know, I had wondered just how long a manga about a superhero who could defeat his enemies with one punch could last before it got stale. And in Volume 5, I saw signs of that staleness appearing. But Volume 6? Ohhhhh man! The introduction of a villain that Saitama can’t beat in One Punch was just what this series needed. The humor was on point and really hit when it needed to. Glad to see some changes and hope to see it continue to get better from here.

It's a volume that knew how to combine comedy with action at the beginning, but from the middle everything is action and the plots (the S-class heroes on earth and Saitama's on the ship) felt a little messy.
Es un volumen que supo combinar la comedia con acción al principio, pero a partir de la mitad todo es acción y las tramas (la de los héroes clase S en la tierra y la de Saitama en la nave) se sintieron un poco desordenadas.
Another great volume. This one is action packed as a new story arc begins. Earth is attacked by aliens and all the Class S heroes are on hand (minus 2, plus Saitama). I won't spoil the plot by saying anymore. But Saitama's character has grown since the first volumes and finding someone worthy of his fight is not turning out to be all he thought it would.
This was a better addition to the series that includes more of the heroes and an interesting subplot. The story spent more time with One Punch compared to the previous book and it was a lot better for it. The series is starting to hit its stride and create something clever and unique.
That panel with Saitama on the roof of the Hero's Association Headquarters and the alien pirate ship by Boros "Dominator of the universe" in the sky ... wow. Great art. What would the S Class Heros do without Terrible Tornado? Love her already.
