I enjoyed Logan and Sierra’s story. It had the good girl/bad boy, rich girl/guy from the wrong side of the tracks troupes. I’m not sure I loved the way the author handled addiction in this book, and I wish there was more of an epilogue but otherwise I really enjoyed this one!

This book kept me interested throughout, and had me staying up late at night to finish it. For the most part, I liked the main characters and storyline, but I did have some hiccups.

First, I don't feel addiction was handled properly in this book. Actually, I think it was handled with reckless abandon. I appreciate the little letter at the end, but it wasn't enough to make up for the way the story handled it. To imply that an addict would drop his substance of choice to get with a girl he just met is insulting to real loved ones of addicts AND addicts themselves. On top of that, withdrawals are not feeling "kinda nauseous" but still being able to finger some chick in broad daylight. I'm sorry, but have you ever seen withdrawals? Especially from a hard substance? They are brutal, last far longer than implied in the book, and regularly require medical intervention. As someone who's been heavily affected by addiction in my life, I was not okay with the way this was portrayed.

My second (smaller) hiccup was that I just didn't buy them falling in love in a week, I cringed a lot at how forward and pushy Sierra was throughout the book (but that's personal preference, I just don't like those types), and I didn't believe the story arc with her parents. They ? What? Idk, it just didn't feel real.

The things I loved - the steam. Oh. My. Gosh. The steam! I think this was the part that kept me reading. It just kept inching closer and closer, but was always just out of reach. Great build up! The pace was also awesome. I love that it didn't drag out and was a nice, easy read.

Logan's back story was amazing. I do wish we delved a bit more into it, but I loved the bites I did get! Especially the story with Murph, Rafe, and Theo. That was beautifully done and I appreciated it a lot. The side characters were a delicious story addition!

Overall, I'd give this book 3-3.5 stars. I would totally read more by this author, but if you're someone who has suffered with addiction or loving someone with addiction, I recommend steering clear from this one.

I received an ARC of this from the author. I made it about a third through but gave up on this book. I didn’t enjoy the plot at all. The author tried too hard to do the bad boy trope and as a result we got a guy who sells drugs and does them, but is trying to get away from the selling. It just didn’t make for a great story. The synopsis mentions a childhood crush through a window, and this starts out with them finally on the same side of said window, but a flashback beginning would have been perfect here to assist with the impact. I found the female character to be too 2D.

A whirlwind of emotions & LOVE!💗

And breathe... my heart can't take any more of these breathtaking beautiful MC'S and their swoon worthy ways!!

Logan Logan Logan, he can tattoo me anyday! Instantly from the first interaction with Logan he was pulling me in! 😍 His not your typical bad boy alpha but holy hell he will and can be a heartbreaker. Logan has a softer side which has my heart beating a little faster for for him!

𝓢𝓲𝓮𝓻𝓻𝓪 𝓲𝓼 𝓶𝔂 𝓷𝓮𝔀 𝓭𝓻𝓾𝓰

Sierra is not your average spring breaker girl. Sierra is mature for her age and has been swooning over Logan for years at everu spring break. They have an instant connection which is raw, real and lustful which is beautiful to read.

I love their flirtacious and very nature relationship that grows! GAHH Sara i love the dirty dancing reference... loveeeeee that connection. This whole storyline has you completely drawn in like a drug!!

Wow, the way Sara Cate writes, its a whirlwind of emotions and holy moly that passion is WOWW!! THAT little suprise at end was GAWD DAMN it so perfect!

This was a good book. I wanted more from it though. I wanted more of the bad boy I was expecting. Yes, Logan was a bad boy and criminal. But I guess I wanted it to be more dark? Idk.

And please, don't even get me started on the editing of this book. The author really couldn't take the time to reread it before publishing? There were SO MANY mistakes that literally could've been caught if the author had reread her work before publishing.

But anyway, if I just focus on the story that was written, it was cute. I enjoyed it.

Sierra is a 19 year old rich girl who goes on vacation for Spring Break every year to the same beach for the past five years. She's always watched Logan from afar. But this year is different they finally talk and meet. And boy was it magical. Puppy dog eyes from the very beginning. Insta-love type of shit. Which I'm not normally a fan of. But they were cute. Throw in some criminal activity, a few predictable events, some drugs, and you've got yourself a book.

So bad. A retelling of dirty dancing wherein johnny castle is a drug dealing tattoo artist and addict. Baby lacks any personality or signs of intelligence, and, instead of heading off to mount Holyoke in the fall (
here, unbelievably: Yale), stays in the shitty studio apartment in the resort community to live her life out as a redneck wife. 2 stars only because at least it didn’t end in pregnancy.

A bad boy turned good

Love this story. It showed that with determination, the right encouragement and a supportive environment, someone who is in the darkest pit of his life can change. I loved Logan's positive attitude and I loved Sierra's unwavering belief in Logan. Murphy and Rafe completed the whole supportive group because its not easy to do things on your own no matter how strong you think you are. There were a bunch of spelling and grammar errors but they were easily overlooked once you got yourself immersed in the story. This is definitely a 5++ stars kinda book.

Is there a Sara cate book that I don’t love? I don’t think so.
This one had me in my feelings. The MMC is an addict and fighting his addiction and that really hit home. I loved the story.

The spice was great!

Delicate
Wicked Hearts, Book 1
By: Sara Cate
Narrated by: Kenneth Elliott, Shan Roswell

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it is a great opposites attract, bad boy, good girl romance. It is my first book by Sara Cate and it will not be my last, I enjoyed her writing style and the story she created. The characters are complex and nicely developed, the two leads are likable and easy to relate to. Sierra’s family own a condo in Wickett Beach, aka “Wicked Beach” an island vacationers frequent, she has been going there since she was young. She accompanies her friend Natalie to get a tattoo when she see him, the boy she has a crush on secretly watches from a far. Logan, a local who now works in the tattoo shop is not a fan of spring break or the chaos it brings. But when he sees Sierra he recognizes her, she is the girl he was watching from afar, the one who did not belong in Wicked Beach. She isn’t just that young girl anymore she has grown up. Logan winds up coming to her rescue after some aggressive partiers get in her face. I loved the chemistry between the two, I thought they were great together and for each other. He had his issues and struggles, tried pushing her away because she was too good for him but she did not give up on him, even when it all went to hell. A lot goes on in this book, the story is fast paced and plotted out nicely with plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling and suspenseful moments and a wonderful romance. Sara Cate, thank you for the terrific story!

I listened to the Audible edition, Kennett Elliott and Shan Roswell are terrific narrators and voice artists. They did a great job portraying the characters, bringing them to life, giving each their own voice and personality, as well as heart and attitude. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the terrific listen🎧

WOW! Sara is a new author for me and this is a book I wouldn't normally get but so glad I did!

Once again it's Spring Break at "Wicked Beach" and Sierra comes with her parents as she has done since she was younger. Every year her parents just leave her to do as she wants. So her one "friend" Natalie talks her into going with her to the local tattoo shop where she sees the one guy she has watched the last 5 yrs and has crushed on, Logan.
Logan works at the tattoo shop and like most other locals, doesn't care for the Spring Break crowd. They are the rich kids who like to party/do drugs etc. But business is business. Logan recognizes Sierra and thinks she doesn't belong in this setting and that she's naive. He crosses paths with her later that night when she and Natalie go to a bonfire and one of the guys is very aggressive towards her almost to the point of assaulting her. Logan comes to her rescue and their friendship starts.
Logan doesn't think he's good enough for her. After the death of his brother, he's gotten into using/selling drugs and doesn't want Sierra around that.
I really liked their chemistry together and how Sierra didn't want to give up on them. They both have issues and struggles, and there's a lot going on. The question is can they overcome it all?

I can't wait to read the rest of the series. You hooked me in!

Oh my word, this book is fantastic.

It's one of those books where you want to keep reading but you can't because you have to go to work where you spend all day desperate to go home and carry on reading. This was me today!

I recently read Beautiful Monster, the first book I've read by Sara, so I knew Delicate wouldn't disappoint. I saw the cover and was like... Yep, this is gonna be good.

I loved Logan and Sierra's story. Their love is so passionate and beautiful, their connection was instant and I was rooting for them until the very end.

There are some books that I find very hard to get into and hard to read, don't ask me why, but each word the Sara writes blends beautifully into the next and just flows perfectly.

Such a good story and so well written. I loved every minute. God, what I would do for a guy like Logan...

Cannot wait to dive into the next book.

From the very beginning I was hooked into this story. I could feel Logan's inner turmoil and pain leaping off the page and the fact that Sienna never abandoned him, never gave up on him, and was determined to prove that she wouldn't give up on him no matter what was everything.

I've gotta say - I read a lot (like a book a day minimum) and this was one of my favorite books I've read so far this year. No matter what life threw at Logan or Sienna, they stuck together and got stronger as a couple.

My only complaint about this book was that there wasn't more. I immediately went and downloaded the second book in the series because I'm hoping not only to get small updates on Logan and Sienna, but because I can't wait to read more from this author.

Delicate, the first book in Wicked Hearts series, is a beautifully written and riveting romance. This was my first Sara Cate book, and I have to say that I'm wholly impressed by her style and character development. The storyline is deep, angsty, passionate, and sensual. Furthermore, it tackled a sensitive topic with grace. The main characters are compelling and multi-faceted, I found myself captivated by them. I thoroughly enjoyed their journey, and I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Outstanding dual narration by Hannah Hart and Edward Fox, both embodied the characters and emulating their emotions flawlessly. Delicate was an incredible listen, one I strongly recommend. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Depressing issues overshadow the romance

This book was overall pretty gloomy and depressing. The romance took a back seat to the issues of the hero . The main h/H were ok together, nothing that really stood out for me. The sex was ok.i don’t understand the 180 that the parents did. . I got the feeling that I was dropped into a story and was expected to know the culture of the town and background of the characters.

This is the first book in the Wicked Hearts Series, a great contemporary romance. Logan and Sierra are great characters. They are opposites attract, and they share an instant attraction, and a sizzling chemistry. Logan is a bad boy, dark, but protective. Sierra is lovely, sweet, supportive and caring. I loved to follow them in their journey. The storyline is fast paced, filled with suspense, and romance. Kenneth Elliott and Shan Roswell did an amazing job with the narration. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listen to the next installment in the Series, Dangerous.

First book in a series. I hope the next ones get better. Not well written. Obviously, no research on addiction was done. Withdrawal is NOT just feeling nauseous. That’s an insult to any addict who read this book. No one falls in love in a week. And his past? Moving in with him? Her rape situation? Are these situations dealt with in a serious manner? No. Writing is choppy at best.

Dark & Dangerous Book with grit & determination

This book will haunt you after you’ve finished but for the all right reasons. This is a dark look into the power of addiction, overcoming them, living with the aftermath, and finding something to wake up for everyday and keep fighting the fight! This book will touch every part of your soul and leave you completely satisfied in how love can be stronger than need and when you find those people who will stand by you no matter what you do anything to keep them safe!

Logan has lived in Wickett his entire life. He grew up in foster care and his one solid was his brother. He lived the devastation that addiction can do but it didn’t stop him from indulging himself and soon he began dealing and getting in too deep with bad people. He knew what he was doing was wrong but he never had anything that wanted him to stay clean until he met Sierra. Sierra has been coming every summer to Wickett with her parents and all their other rich friends/families but she never fit in with this kids. She enjoyed spending her days strolling the quiet parts of the town and watching the handsome tattoo artists who became her little summer obsession every time she visited. This summer though she was done watching and makes her move to introduce herself and see if all her fantasies about him might come true!

Logan knows he doesn’t deserve a girl like Sierra but he will do everything in his power to earn her respect and love! Kindle Unlimited: Yes
Stand-alone: Yes*
Author: Sara Cate
Rating: 4/5 ⭐️
Spiciness Rating: 2/5 🌶
POV: First Person Dual Perspective
Main Couple: Logan and Sierra
Trope(s): Opposites Attract, Forbidden Love, Dark Romance, Bad Boy Romance

“My mind reels from her words. It’s ridiculous and impossible. She can’t love me. Not me, and not after one week.
But, it doesn’t change the fact that I feel the same way. I love her in a way that is dangerous and fucking mind blowing….”

I realized I hadn’t read everything by Sara- so I decided to go back to the beginning. Delicate is Book 1 in the Wicked Hearts Series. Books are interconnected standalone’s, but would be best throughly enjoyed read in order. Plus, do yourself a favor an download the Bonus Epilogue. This book is full of angst that you feel from the first pages. Sierra looking for more out of her life, Logan barely hanging onto his, and the trouble that follows him. Their connection is years in the making and drips from the pages. But, they come from two completely different worlds. One taste has them addicted to each other.

Sierra vacations every summer on Wicked and for the last five years, since the first time she caught sight of Logan, he has fascinated her. She sees the secret and trouble in his eyes.

Logan knows Sierra has been watching him.
Just like he knows she is far too good for the likes of him. She is right he has secrets and trouble all around him. He hasn’t recovered from losing his brother a year ago to addiction.

He comes to her rescue. And, ends up being his reason to change, but he has unsettled business before he can fully move on with his life.

He knows he cannot offer her forever, but her one last week in Wicked for the summer will have to be enough.

Main Characters (ages): Sierra (19) Logan (25)
Setting: Wickett Island
Hot take: This was awful. There was no emotion behind the writing. The characters were unegaging and unlikeable. The plot was trite and cliche. The whole thing reeked of predictability. I have no desire at all to read Murph's story. The one redeeming quality is that this is early in Cate's career and I know she has gotten so much stronger.
Spice level: 2/5
1st actual sex scene: 76% virginity
Love: her 76%, him 77%
Plot: Sierra is in Wickett for spring break with her parents. Like she is every year. She has apparently also been stalking Logan since she saw him at 14. Logan is a foster kid who is now a tattoo artist. His brother died of a drug overdose 1 year ago. He himself is addicted to drugs and sells them. Sierra shoots her shot and goes after him after being nearly raped at a bonfire. Her loses a stash of drugs, which ends up killing one of the spring breakers. His dealer, Hale, is trying to get Logan framed for it. Sierra is caught in the cross fire. She falls for Logan nearly right away. Logan is self sabotaging. He pushes her away. Her non existent parents make her stay away. But then she get kidnapped by Hale, and Logan saves her. And all of a sudden her parents are happily letting her stay in Wickett and run a bookstore?
Ever After?: Sure? He gets clean. He gets his brothers bike. He is still at the tattoo shop. She runs the book store. They live together.
Tropes/Tags: addiction, spring break romance, rich girl/poor guy, motorcycle gang, virgin, Dirty Dancing in an island town with drugs
