Mighty Veteranus
Another great installment in the Occultum shows us Veteranus skills and savagery. I Couldn't put it down. One of the best in series.

A thoroughly enjoyable tale that has left me eager for more. The story alternates between Rome and Britannia, moving at a fast pace. I dislike the term 'page turner', but it perfectly describes my experience with this book.
While it is a standout in its genre, it may not appeal to everyone.
Now I find myself waiting several months for the next instalment in the series!

Fast paced and fascinating
Tour de force novel. It doesn't get more fun and interesting for historical fiction fans. Britain and Italian history collide into a well researched and written tale. Keep it going

Brilliant
This was another brilliant addition to the Dark Eagle series of books by K M Ashman which follows a group of accultum( under cover soldiers ) during the invasion of britain, this is a fast moving tale which will keep you turning the pages.Very highly recommended.

The Plot

Excellent third book in the series, cannot wait to read the next one. These are an excellent read and would recommend to anyone interested in special forces in the Roman times.

Enjoyable read with plenty of intrigue and action, the only negative for me is the Mordred narrative, a bit of a stretch.

Another great read
Non stop action from the start. The oculorum continue to persue the emperor's enemies. Moving in the shadows to deal with foes. Twists and turns aplenty.

Loving this saga of the Occultum and their undercover work in ancient Rome and all the plotting and plot twists that the politicians seem to thrive on Highly recommended.

Another wonderful depiction of the Roman world, although maize was not available then. Great characters and enthralling story. Can't wait to read the next one.

Enfoque y narrativa del tema:
Esta tercera parte está llena de momentos tensos y de una narrativa que logra transmitir el clima, los escenarios y las emociones del grupo, haciendo que el lector se sienta dentro de la travesía junto a ellos. Gracias a ello, la lectura resulta bastante amena y fluida; de hecho, es el primero de los tres libros que he leído sin necesidad de hacer pausas. El único detalle que llega a volverse repetitivo es la constante insistencia en recordarnos que son expertos en infiltración y camuflaje, algo que el autor recalca demasiadas veces. Aun así, dejando eso de lado, la novela se disfruta bastante.
El problema aparece en el tramo final. No responde varias preguntas planteadas desde la segunda parte y, en cambio, deja todavía más interrogantes abiertas. Empiezo a sentir que la saga está desplazándose de una novela con cierto grado de verosimilitud histórica hacia un terreno más cercano al misticismo y la ficción. Ese genero no es algo malo en sí mismo, pero no era lo que esperaba que evolucionara en esta saga. Personalmente prefiero lo plausible y lo cercano a lo real. Espero que este nuevo hilo argumental no se prolongue demasiado, especialmente porque el cierre parece alejar al grupo de la misión para la que se entrenaron bastante tiempo y sacrificaron tanto.

Sigo sin entender cómo la editorial no se plantea elevar la calidad de las ediciones, especialmente considerando que la saga parece tener cierto reconocimiento. Continúan los mismos problemas visuales y la misma falta de ambición en la presentación.

Como mencioné anteriormente, el giro relacionado con la identidad del antagonista sí logró sorprenderme y falló por completo mi intuición, algo que le da valor a la narrativa. Sin embargo, esa sorpresa también deja demasiadas dudas sobre lo ocurrido con uno de los miembros del grupo. Le daré el beneficio de la duda al autor y esperaré que esa trama tenga una resolución pronta, porque llegar a un cuarto libro utilizando nuevamente el recurso de los “enemigos internos” empieza a sentirse repetitivo y monótono.
