I meet her late one night at her struggling bakery, a curvy angel with eyes that can melt the coldest of hearts.
She's my fated mate, the one I've waited centuries to find. Her sweet scent drives my wolf wild with need.
Nothing will keep me from claiming her as my own - not the fact that she's human or that I'm an ex-military werewolf with a scarred past.
I'll do anything to keep her safe and help her dreams come true.
From now on, Anitta is mine to protect and cherish for all eternity.
Curvy Girl and the Ex-Military Wolf is a short, sweet, and steamy small town instalove romance with a happy-ever-after. It can be read as a standalone or together with the rest of the books in the Pine Fated Mates.
POV: Dual, 1st person. SERIES or STANDALONE: 1st in series, can be read as a standalone. TROPES: M/F adult, human/shifter, age gap, small town romance. SIZE: 58 (last page) Kindle pages. CHARACTERS: Scott (age unknown) & Annitta (22)
PLOT: 3 📚 ROMANCE: 3 ❤️ SPICE/STEAM: 1 🌶 DARKNESS/TRIGGERS: 1 😈 (talk of past murder, violence, grief)
For as short as it was it shouldn't be surprising that the characters weren't very fleshed out, nor was the story to be honest. Scott is supposed to be ex-military and yet, also a wolf/werewolf/lycanthrope (I used all 3 definitions since the author decided to use all 3 instead of sticking to just one), which shouldn't really matter although it seems odd because apparently his kind have been hunted in the past and now they are all nomads because society doesn't accept them so... how did he join the military then?
Aside from that, their conversations are all over the place in such a short amount of time which makes it weird. And what was the point exactly in her changing her outfit when she brought him to her place? It wouldn't have made sense in any normal circumstance when her only focus should've been the injury he had. Their personalities are just weird at this point. At first she's shy and cautious and then at her home she's bold, flirty and demanding. Just like how Scott is a bit quiet, stoic and cautious at the beginning but at her place he's a bit flirty and then all of a sudden he can't get his wolf under control and tells her to run because he got a wiff of wolfsbane? This story is all over the place and normally when things are all over the place it tends to be AI written.
I also don't feel like this is a real curvy girl book, meaning it's not written from a place of love, more like just dabbling in the genre while subtlety being insulting at the same time? "Oh no, who would ever want me? I'm so fat and ugly, and this pure specimen of masculinity is just so perfect. He'd never want me! No one ever looks at me cuz I'm so fat and ugly." kinda thing. It's insulting and I hate when writers do things like that.

Curvy Girl and the Ex-Military Wolf is Book 1 of the Pine Valley: Fated Mates series. It's a short and steamy OTT, opposites-attract, age-gap, fated mates, double virgin, curvy girl gets her werewolf shifter romance. Anitta is a 22 year old bakery owner with a struggling business. Scott is a century old. hunky, ex-military werewolf shifter. When he is traveling through Pine Valley, he is hungry and stops at Anitta's bakery. The two hit it off and talk until an unwelcome visitor shows up at the bakery. Scott comes to her rescue but is injured in the process. What happens when she finds out he's a shifter and her fated mate? This couple was cute with their teasing banter. They had decent chemistry, and we got a great HEA. I'm looking forward to more books in this series.

This was a gritty paranormal romance that takes wolf shifter, Scott, and brings him to bakery owner, Anitta's doorstep. These two have fab chemistry but their situations were quite sad. Her business is failing because of small town prejudices and he's homeless to keep safe from human prejudices. They spend time together, while she feeds him her delish baked goods, and find that they can relate so well... I love that they both found a way to be happy, successful and could start living their best lives, together. The author included a fab epilogue that really made me smile. I'm hopeful that the shifter situation improves as the series goes on so I'll definitely be reading the next book :D
“Curvy Girl and the Ex-Military Wolf “ by Zoey Rose is a short, steamy and heartfelt paranormal romance featuring a lonely wolf shifter, Scott, and a sweet bakery owner, Anitta. Their instant chemistry and shared sadness pull them together, and their relationship deepens as they bond over baked goods and conversation. The story balances emotional depth with spice, and the epilogue adds an extra sweet touch.

Anitta just opened a new bakery in town. She is alone after her grandmother‘a death and her bakery isn’t doing well. Scott is ex military and wolf shifter. He is drawn to the bakery by the sweet smells. When danger comes in the form of a drunken man Scott steps in to help Anitta. Anitta’s grandmother told her about werewolves, but she didn’t believe her until now. This was an ok read. It is a little different from most wolf shifter books that I have previously read. Secrets will be revealed throughout the story, Can Scott trust Anitta with his secret?
Great story.......Scott, a secret lycanthrope, drifts from town to town punishing himself for his past. He lands in Pine Valley and smells the delicious aroma coming from a bakery. Anita, the bakery owner, is struggling since there are two bakeries in town. This was her dream and she grew up in town. Scott saves her from a dangerous situation and she invites him back to her house to tend his wounds.

Short & sweet, mismatched romance Anitta recently opened a bakery in her small town… but business is non-existent because there’s already a bakery in town. She’s unsure about her future, did she make a mistake? Scott is a lost soul, his life sucks until tonight. Starving, Scott stops at a bakery smelling the delicious scents and he and the beautiful owner Anitta form a kinship. This is a cute romance between a young human and an older “other”. Linda
Scott is drawn to the local bakery by a scent. There, he finds Anitta, the owner. At first, he attributes the scent to be coming from her baked good, but then he figures out it's her. Realizing she's his mated.
Anitta's grandma did mention that there were shifters in their area, but no one believed her until Anitta cones face to face with Scott's wolf.
I enjoyed reading this story so much. Anitta and Scott’s characters were very good. I loved the storyline too. She ran a bakery in town and wasn’t selling a lot. Scott wondered to her door seeing a light on then her. Knocking she wasn’t going to let him in but decided because he looked so tired and thought he was a drifter. He ate sweet cakes while she chatted. His fated mate. Two became three. On to the next story. 🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜😊😊😊😊

I just know somewhere on tiktok someone is RAVING over this book/series. Because the title alone is the worst thing i've laid on eyes on in a minute. This novella ALSO took a very sharp left turn and was so rushed lol. "Oh i just met you BUT come on into my place of dwelling!" vibes. The things i read for this reading goal yall. Lordyyyyy
This is a quick read. I was surprised but enjoyed it. Anitta is a bakery owner that helps Scott late one evening by sharing some her delicious pastries. She tells him a story about starting her own bakery in Pine Valley as the second bakery in town and how difficult it has been. There is a happy ending. Read On!
He thought he wasn't lovable after what he did to his brother, but he only did what he had to! He hid away for years because people shunned his kind, but he met the girl of his dreams! His fated mate! She was so sweet and innocent a complete opposite to him! She took his secret like a champ 😜 In multiple ways 🤣! They are perfect for each other! Definitely recommend for a short read!
What an interesting concept…werewolf vs human. It shouldn’t work but it does. Find a place to spend about an hour, and grab this book. You’re gonna love it!
I don’t normally read paranormal shifters books 📕. This one was really good. Great character, characters and story Line. Scott and Anitta’s love ❤️ story was very sweet.
Small town bakery owner Anita, runs across a drifter while closing. Scott has been wand for years. Starved and desperate a sweet, intoxicating smell draws him to the one person that will save him.
My rating for this one is a 3.5. This is a short shifter story with great characters. I would have liked to have more of their story. If you are looking for a short shifter story this is one for you. I would encourage everyone to give this one a chance. This one is worth your time.
This was a great read. It was short, sweet and steamy. Scott being an ex-military and wolf shifter meets Anitta while she is closing up her bakery and her sweet scent is his undoing. A cute read
Insta love story for the win. This is my first Zoey Rose story and I look forward to more. This quick read has a good rounding of emotion and spice. Nothing wrong with love at first sight... Scent? Same thing...
Curvy Girl and the Ex-Military Wolf is a decent book. It has the advantages of being a lunch time quick read with all the elements one loves in a shifter romance.
This book gave me a nice little hit of supernatural spice with two likeable characters. I'm looking forward to watching this author grow in this genre.
