Long before the world was laid waste in Shelter from the Winter, Brijit lived a happy life with her husband Fáelán and daughter Almaith in medieval Ireland. The appearance of the mysterious Eochaid begins a dangerous obsession that will turn her life upside down and doom her to a life in darkness. Come see how it all began…
DW Adler ("Call me Don") was born and raised in beautiful Nova Scotia, Canada. After receiving a degree in psychology and an almost-minor in Irish Studies, he learned how to fix computers. He now sweats profusely in Florida where he does IT support for a living when he's not writing.
Don counts such authors as Anne Rice, JRR Tolkien, and Edgar Allan Poe, as well as a love for Irish/Celtic myth and folklore as his influences. He loves to read sci-fi, fantasy, post-apocalyptic, and anything having to do with vampires.
Other than sipping tea and writing, Don dabbles in computer animation and graphic design, and is a doting father to his little girl. He is constantly plotting how to get back home to Nova Scotia and flees there whenever the sight of snow becomes a necessity.
As his power grows, so does Eochaid’s need to possess the woman who haunts his thoughts.
Being a wife and mother brings Brijit great joy, even though there are times when Fáelán’s blind faith in the priests drives her mad.
Waiting all these years has not been easy for Eochaid. Now that Brijit is grown, and into such a beautiful, intelligent woman, he feels the time is right. Her husband and daughter are sure to cause some delays, although he is certain he will find a way around them.
This story is a real teaser. Eochaid’s character is an enigma that you cannot quite figure out, even by the end. Is he evil, misguided, or is there some glimmer of good yet to be seen? Brijit however is going to be a force to be reckoned with, so it should be interesting to see how this all plays out.
