What do you get when you mix an ethical vampire and a rising Oxford academic?
Heat. Hot, hot, steamy heat.

Welcome to the world of Oxford's Most Ancient Order of Ethical Vampires.

They don't hunt, they solicit.
They don't kill, they merely drain their prey and recycle them.
They don't terrorize the townies, they skulk in the shadows, careful to mind their manners.

That is, until the bloodlust is awoken in them.

Then all bets are off.

Stithulf Vrykolakas Upiór has stalked the shadows of Oxford University for centuries. But when Maeve Blue catches his eye, his world's turned upside down. He can't think. He can't work. Hell, he can't even skulk. It's all Maeve, Maeve, Maeve. Problem is, the ancient laws that bind him to his clan require him to gain her consent before proceeding with, well, the delectable proceedings.

He's a hottie - chiseled, moody, with abs a-plenty - but when he reveals himself to be a vampire, Maeve wants nothing to do with him. Vampires give her the willies (and not in a good way). To make matters worse, she has a raging case of amnesia, which is weird in a thirty-year old, but when the scales fall from her eyes and she realizes who she is, her world is rocked to the core.

The battle of wills commences, him in hot pursuit, her hot in the panties.

Prepare yourself for a vampire-mafia rom-com romp.

Come for the giggles, stay for the steam. Oh, and the gore. Yep, there's gore. Like I said, once the lust is awakened, all bets are off.

You are, after all, what you are, nurture be damned.

Not sure what I just tried to read. I was hoping it was a fun twist on a romcom with a vampire twist, but it was... not. It was trying too hard and totally missed the mark. Spice was so bad that I cringed. I hate being mean, but save yourself the time.

What!!!!

This was an odd read. Maeve flipped into a grade a bitch and Stit went from a whiner with floral prose to a hardass. I very nearly gave up on this soooo many times but stuck it out convinced it would suddenly click for me and I would enjoy it....
It's not badly written, yeah there are a few typos and spelling errors but it the actual characters I have an issue with... I disliked them both.

I saw this on TikTok with some other vampire paranormal books that looked interesting, including from Sadie Kincaid. I finished this, but barely. It was nothing like I expected and it's definitely not a rom-com or mafia. There were vampires, though, so that was accurate. It's not poorly written, but it had character elements that were really inconsistent and some pretty uncomfortable sex scenes. Like cringe discomfort, not dark content. Not to dunk on it. Give it a go, as it might be for you.

I had such high hopes for this one, because the immediate introduction to the MMC was so unique. But it quickly lost its luster and became boring and awkward.
