Maggie Field was looking forward to a solo Christmas in her cosy London flat – before her three workmates decided to liven things up for her.

Maggie loves her job as head of IT at a financial firm, and her three geeky but lovable work buddies. And when they invite her to stay with each of them for the holidays, she can’t resist the chance to get to know them better.

But then her boss tells her she has to make one of her beloved team redundant, and Maggie is distraught. Frank’s work is his world, Jasper’s sarcastic humour is everything, and Leo…well, he’s talented, professional, confusingly attractive, dependable, and funny… Maggie definitely doesn’t want to lose him.

With her career and her heart on the line, Maggie sets off on the Christmas adventure of a lifetime, from playing fake girlfriend at a lavish wedding, to rescuing baby foxes on a posh country estate, to chasing a very confused donkey on Christmas Day in the Lake District. She can’t ignore the sparks between her and Leo – but she also can’t avoid her dilemma.

Can she find a way to keep her work family together, and maybe even find true love under the mistletoe?

A hilarious and heartfelt celebration of friendship, workplace romance, and finding where you belong. Perfect for fans of Sophie Kinsella and Beth O’Leary, this festive rom-com will have you laughing, crying, and reaching for the mince pies.

Bailey, I completely adore your books. This was no exception. It made me chuckle and I loved every one of the characters. There was so much joy and love in it, and although I figured out which choice Maggie would make, it didn’t matter. Maggie was just lovely, doing everything for those around her, and getting so much back in return. Reading this made me believe in the power of kindness, and in hugs! There isn’t anything negative to say about this story, I just want to read it again.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.

It’s that time of year again when the holiday fun begins. People are buying their costumes, decorating their houses and getting their Halloween treats ready, and I’m sitting here thinking about …

Christmas?

Yes!! Welcome to the yearly tug-of-war between my desire for spooky reads that will scare me out of my wits and all those enticing feel-good holiday stories that publishers just LOVE to release this time of year. Sorry Halloween … Christmas just makes me feel better!

Speaking of feelings - not since Catherine Walsh’s Holiday Romance has a holiday-themed romance so COMPLETELY charmed me, and that one’s the standard I judge most of these against. Kristen Bailey is new to me, but you can bet I’ll be searching her backlist immediately. I read this on my Kindle while listening to the audiobook, and narrator Harrie Dobby only elevated my experience with her lovely voice that nailed all the accents, genders and ages perfectly.

Maggie Field is the manager of the IT department at a large London corporation. Tucked away by the company in a geeked-out basement office away from the gleaming ones upstairs, she shares the space with her three co-workers and now closest friends Frank, Jasper and Leo. Frank is your awkward never-been-kissed, heart-of-gold type with mommy issues, Jasper is posh, bitingly funny, blunt and only half out of the closet with his family, and Leo is the smart, kind, thoughtful scruffy one who seems to be saying and doing all the right things in Maggie’s eyes lately. Why didn’t she notice him this way before?

When HR informs her right before the holidays that they’re making staff cuts and she needs to choose one of her team to be made redundant, she’s faced with an impossible choice. How can she say goodbye to any of them? One thing’s for certain, she can’t possibly tell them about it right now. She’ll have a few days to figure it out, as the boys have devised a plan for her to spend a couple days with each of their families so she won’t be alone for Christmas.

From fake girlfriend/accidental bridesmaid snafus with Frank’s dysfunctional family, helping Jasper thwart his entitled half brother’s fox hunt, and learning all of Leo’s most embarrassing secrets from his tight-knit family, Maggie experiences a week she won’t forget while the clock ticks down to decision time. As she and Leo grow closer, will their time be up when it’s just gotten started?

As can be predicted with this genre, there is a third act conflict, but I consider it more of a hiccup. It’s low drama and pretty clean with flirty banter, a little sexual tension and a couple mildly spicy moments, but no truly open doors. Ironically, if I had to make any complaint at all about this book, I might’ve turned that thermostat up just a TINY bit more, but I’m very happy regardless. The pervasive feel good holiday vibes have me ready to break out the hot cocoa and jingle bells before I’ve even brought the pumpkins in!

If you want a charming, funny Christmas romance with a winning quartet of MCs and fabulous side characters, this may be just the right one for you. It’s as much a love story to close friends and family as it is about finding “the one”, and it’s an easy addition to my all-time holiday favorites list!

★★★★★ ❤

3.75 out of 5 stars!

I hadn't read anything by this author before, but I often came across her books on my feed. When I saw this one—with its captivating cover and intriguing premise—I knew I had to give it a try. Plus, it's set during Christmas, and I can never resist a festive read!

This delightful Christmas story blends friendship and sweet romance perfectly. I loved how Maggie's holidays unfolded with Frank, Jasper, and Leo, filled with fun antics, quirky relatives, and a fake dating twist. The bond among the co-workers felt genuine, evolving into a true family by the end.

Onto my experience with the audiobook:
The narrator added extra layers of warmth to the story. Her expressive delivery brought the characters to life, making their emotions and interactions even more engaging. Listening to her narration truly enhances the cozy atmosphere of the book, making it a delightful experience overall.

This was such a nice and adorkable Christmas story about love, family, friendships and more!!

Maggie is the head of IT at a financial firm. She works in a small, dark office in the basement with her 3 techie coworkers. When her parents head out of town for the holidays, her coworkers invite her to join each of them and their families so she isn't alone during the holidays.

Unfortunately, right before the holiday break, Maggie is told by HR that she needs to fire one of her close-knit team at the start of the new year. After getting to know them even more over the holiday break, how can she make this impossible choice?

How have I not read any of Kristen Bailey's books before now?! This book was so heartwarming and absolutely hilarious. I laughed out loud so many times while listening to the audiobook which was expertly narrated by Harrie Dobby. Maggie, Leo, Frank, and Jasper had such great chemistry. It made me want to join their friend group. This will definitely be my favorite holiday read of 2024. I loved it! 5 shiny stars. 🌟🌟

Kristen Bailey has wowed me yet again with another captivating, heartwarming, witty, and endearing book. I loved the friendships, the banter, the cute situations, the chemistry, the dilemma(s) and the animals in this book. Plus, this book takes place around the Christmas holiday so you will get some festive holiday cheer as well.

Maggie is the head of the IT team which works in the basement of a financial firm. She does her best to make their working situation enjoyable. As she will be alone for the holidays each of the three men that she supervises invite her to spend the holidays with them. What a great way to get to know them better. Before they break for the holidays, Maggie is given a tough choice to make.

Maggie is a wonderful character and very easy to like. She comes across as fun, kind, charming and someone who would be fun to have around. I enjoyed getting to know Frank, Jasper, and Leo, the three men that Maggie supervises as well. It was lovely to read a book where I enjoyed and cared for all the characters. I especially enjoyed the focus on relationships in this book. I appreciated how Kristen Bailey showed the character's strengths and vulnerabilities. The bonds they formed while working together were strong and felt real. Let’s not forget the workplace romance as well. I enjoyed the banter, the chemistry, and the flirty interactions.

We Three Kings is a wonderfully written, delightful and charming rom-com which put a smile on my face and had me turning the pages.

I look forward to reading more of Kristen Bailey's books.

Quite is an endearing novel with an awesome narration by Harrie Dobby!

Maggie Field manages the IT team at work. She loves her team which includes Frank, Jasper, and Leo.

It's the end of December, and she has no plans since her parents are on a cruise. To her surprise, each guy invites her to stay with them during the holidays. She will go to a wedding with Frank and fake being his girlfriend. She will go with Jasper and stay at his posh family estate, and then she'll stay with Leo's family before returning home.

Maggie is super excited about joining the guys until she is called to the HR office, where she is told that she needs to fire one person from her team when she returns from the holidays. Maggie has no clue what to do. She loves her team, and lately, she has developed feelings for Leo.

What is she going to do?

Charming and sweet is the best way to describe We Three Kings. Their personalities, mixed with the moments that made me laugh and smile, made it easy to fall in love with Maggie and the three guys.

I will need to check out more of Kristen Bailey's books now that I know I like her style.

EXCERPT: ' . . . it's the twenty-seventh of November, Maggie,' Frank replies with a heavy hint of sarcasm. 'There is not a hint of Christmas in this place.'
I look around, listening to the November rain thunder down, almost drowning out the mariachi music. Some Halloween decor is still hanging near the kitchens. 'Imagine the cactus in the corner is a Christmas tree.'
They all look confused, like teenagers who've been dragged out against their will.
'How does Darth Vader like his turkey?' I say, trying to lighten the mood, and holding my phone up again, ready. Their faces are blank. Nothing. And you call yourself geeks? 'On the dark side?'
And finally I get a laugh. I take the picture, then turn my phone around to have a look. Frank throws up a touristy peace sign, Jasper is pulling some sort of Elvis lip curl, we've caught Leo mid-laugh, I look less horsey. It'll do. I'll print it out and put it on our office noticeboard as a reminder of the time we attempted to have a life beyond our office walls.
You see, I had thought this would be a good idea. Given that our office smells a lot like Doritos Cool Original chops for most of the year, I thought, where better to host our Christmas dinner than in a Mexican restaurant? This place has hats you can wear and all-you-can-eat fajitas and free Mexican-style Day of the Dead tattoos. It's fun, and I suspect what is lacking in all our lives is a bit of fun. And daylight, to be fair.

Can she find a way to keep her work family together, and maybe even find true love under the mistletoe?

MY THOUGHTS: This was my first book by Kristen Bailey and it was fun! It is light and amusing, with (mostly) endearing characters - I am excluding Cressida and the horrid woman from HR.

I loved the chemistry between Frank, Jasper, Leo and Maggie. They are a great team of IT geeks who aren't above taking a little bit of revenge when people do dumb things on their computers - like forgetting to plug it back in and switch the power on!

I loved that the three guys cared for Maggie so much that they organised between them to share her over the holiday season. We get new insights into their characters seeing them in their home environments, away from work.

Maggie's holiday is filled with amusing incidents, including kidnapping a donkey, but all the time there is a cloud hanging over her - who is she to make redundant? I came up with the solution well before she did, but I'm glad she got there in the end.

I was rooting for Maggie and Leo throughout, once they acknowledged their attraction, but talk about a rocky road! There were times I wanted to bang their heads together in frustration. Did they make it? That's for me to know and you to find out.

Innovative and amusing. I'll be reading more by this author.

I combined my reading and listening experience of We Three Kings. Harrie Dobby is an excellent narrator.

Kristen Bailey does it again... Can we please have this as a Christmas film ASAP

Four IT workers confined to the basement of their offices, form a wonderful heart-warming friendship. When they find out their colleague/supervisor Maggie is going to be alone for Christmas, Leo, Jasper and Frank put a plan in place to ensure she has Christmas overed by spending a couple of days with each of them and their loved ones, then comes the kicker as they're about to finish for the holidays Maggie gets told she needs to make one of her beloved team redundant in the new year.

With a heart wrenching decision, made more difficult by becoming closer and learning more about these amazing men and all they do.

This is a wonderfully festive treat of families (in all their chaotic glory), and amazing friendships, coming together and celebrating in their own unique ways.

It's such a feel-good book, which pulls on the heart strings, that I was so sad to finish, I wanted to stay wrapped up in their world.

Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC.

This was a fun little story! I liked all the characters, and enjoyed seeing how Maggie interacted with the 3 men in her IT tech world. Maggie looks after everyone, and has a big heart. And the three men friends are the same towards her. This takes place during the Christmas season, and Maggie soon discovers she has a tough choice to make concerning her team.
I loved the relationship building, the character interactions, and the vulnerability the author portrayed in each character. There were many times I found myself giggling at the situations. And the romance was lovely- especially in the development of the love relationship, and also in the friendship area.
I have never read a book by this author, but I am definitely going to try another!

My first five-star Christmas read of the year! And I’m not surprised—I absolutely loved Five Gold Rings by Kristen Bailey last year. Once again, her humour just speaks to my soul. I genuinely had a smile on my face the entire time I was reading.

It's a bit of a unique Christmas story, following four coworkers from a company IT department: Frank, Jasper, Leo, and, of course, our leading boss lady, Maggie. Her plans for a solo Christmas are upended when these favourite coworkers invite her to spend the holidays with each of them in turn. Little do they know, Maggie has been tasked by HR with letting one of them go ...

I absolutely loved this sweet group of friends—their bond is the very definition of found family. Each had such a distinct personality, bringing their own unique charm, laughs, and crazy shenanigans. And the romance! I can't forget the romance. It was a delicate slow burn that gave me ALL the warm, fuzzy, festive feelings!

Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the chance to read this one in exchange for my honest review.
This was my first read by Kristen Bailey and I was delighted to see she has SO many others for me to gobble up now.
This was cute and zany with some holiday heart.
Maggie Field is looking forward to spending the holiday season solo. She works in IT and manages three goofy, lovable specialists.
In one of MANY zany twists, a predicament has her spending the holidays not alone, but with each member of team, one who she cannot deny she has chemistry with.
Family dynamics, one fake dating scenario and even saving baby foxes come with this adventure.

While I was little early on this Christmas story, it would be a perfect read over the holidays, so when it hit shelves on October 14th of this year, grab it and have it ready for your winter holiday season.

This book is such a delightful, heartwarming Christmas story filled with love, laughter, and the magic of found family! Maggie’s close-knit IT team is full of quirky, lovable characters, and their bond adds so much depth to the story. I loved how each of her teammates brings something unique to her life—whether it’s Frank's dedication, Jasper's sarcastic humor, or Leo's irresistible charm. Maggie’s difficult task of having to let one of them go brought a surprising depth to the plot, creating moments of real tension as she grapples with her decision.

Maggie’s journey through the holiday season was full of fun, with everything from pretending to be a fake girlfriend at a wedding to chasing an escaped donkey in the Lake District on Christmas Day! The friends-to-lovers romance between Maggie and Leo was sweet, natural, and kept me rooting for them, adding just the right touch of office-romance excitement.

Listening to the audiobook made this story even more enjoyable. The narrator perfectly captured each character’s personality, and her lively narration added warmth and humor to the experience, making the story’s festive spirit come alive.

This cozy, feel-good read is perfect for anyone looking for romance, laughs, and a little Christmas magic to get them in the holiday spirit! Highly recommended for everyone looking for some Christmas romance!

This was light, fun, full of Christmas vibes and scenes. With British humor, steamy moments and adorable characters that made this a lovely and festive experience.

I loved all the characters. Even the insufferable ones.

THOUGHTS:
I would have liked more surprise to the plot. It was predictable. It's a bit like how Hallmark movies are easy to predict.

I wanted the romance moments to last longer. They were constantly being cut short.

OVERALL:
A delightful Christmas romcom that i could see myself wanting to reread.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A festive and fun holiday rom com. I laughed as much as I “aww’ed,” lower levels of spice, (my preference)- a coworker romance and really strong witty banter and strong character development of the supporting characters. I am adding Kristen Bailey’s other books to my “To read” list. If you like holiday romance, this is not one to miss.

Set in the UK, Maggie is what we call “adorkable” the IT manager who has the difficult task of knowing who to let go and make redundant. That is….RIGHT after the holidays. Maggie keeps this a secret from her team of 3– Leo, Jasper and Frank. With Leo she has great chemistry and mutual attraction, she helps fake dating Frank to his cousin’s wedding (which is a very funny segment) and visits Jasper’s posh family, where he is half in and half out of the closet. Over the holiday she spends part with each of the “3 kings” on her team.

I found the dialogue to be excellent, the humor lighthearted while heartwarming, and the story easy to read and follow. Great for fans of Sarah Adams and Tessa Bailey.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year… Christmas? It may be, but by “most wonderful time of the year” I mean the time of Kristen Bailey’s new book coming out! For the second year in a row we’ve been lucky enough to get two new books by her and I sincerely hope this just turns into a new Christmas tradition, cause I can’t think of a better gift. 🎁

With her career and her heart on the line, Maggie sets off on the Christmas adventure of a lifetime.

After eleven books (yes, I counted them), there’s not any doubt that Kristen Bailey does comedy and romance like no other. Her stories are always the perfect mix of heart, laughs, some innuendo and a little bit of spice (although this time the spice level is way down to what we’re used to from Kristen. Maybe it is because Santa is watching? 🤔). What I loved the most about ‘We Three Kings’ is that it was a complete and absolute celebration of friendship (especially a male-female friendship), friendships without any hidden agenda, just being there for each other through good and bad times no matter what. But this is also a rom-com, so of course there was some love in the air as well.

I feel like I’ve said this a thousand times (probably I have), but I adore Kristen’s books. From her plots to her characters and her sense of humor, they always manage to bring out a smile and lift up a shitty day. And the best thing is that she keeps topping herself and getting better and better. Is ‘We three kings’ a new favorite holiday read? Jury’s still out but, at least, is a tie with ‘Five Gold Rings’ (btw, Eve and Joe make an unexpected cameo here 😍).

The quartet of main characters could be renamed as the Fantastic Four. They were all so lovable. Watching their relationships develop outside the work environment and how new bonds were created between them felt like such a treat. They were the perfect definition of found family, and their adventures were infused with so much joy, love and kindness that I was so sad to see the story come to an end.

Our Three Kings, Frank, Jasper and Leo were all so great. They all had pretty distinct personalities, making them a really interesting trio. The author draws them with strengths and vulnerabilities, making them much more relatable to the reader. Frank and his awkwardness born from his mummy issues; Jasper and his bluntness, unafraid of speaking his own mind except when it comes to showing his true self to his family; or Leo and his all around good guy vibes, always paying attention to Maggie’s needs. They all felt like real people and I really loved getting to know them. The chemistry between them and with Maggie was out of this world! I hope we haven’t seen the last of them and we get to meet again in the future (if you’ve read Kristen’s books, you know old friends from other stories can make an appearance when you least expect it).

Heartwarming, witty, and full of warm, feel-good moments, ‘We Three Kings’ is the epitome of the Christmas spirit, so make sure to include it in your letter to Santa to get it in your stocking, under the tree, or wherever it is you receive your christmas presents. You won’t regret it.

Steam Level: 🔥🔥 (closed door with some innuendo)

Maggie Field is the IT supervisor at work and oversees her three friends Jasper, Frank, and Leo. When the guys realize she'll be alone for Christmas, they come up with a plan to have her split her holidays amongst the three of them. As Maggie gets ready to begin her holiday, she's told she'll have to choose one employee from her department to make redundant. Now there's a dark cloud hanging over the festivities as Maggie must decide who will go. And complicating things even more is the fact that Maggie is realizing she might have feelings for Leo after years of friendship. Can she handle the decision she must make and walk away with her friendships- and love life- intact?

This was such a charming story of friendship, with a sweet romance added into the mix. I adored all the characters in this book and how it was split into parts as Maggie spent her holidays with Frank, Jasper, and Leo. There were some fun hijinks, snotty relatives, a fake dating twist, and several sweet romantic gestures. It was easy to tell how close-knit this group of co-workers were, and they really became a family by the end. Maggie's decision was definitely tough, and I wasn't entirely sure how things would turn out. In the end, I felt like she did the right thing, and I thought the guys handled it well. This is now the third Kristen Bailey book I've read, and I've enjoyed them all. If you've read Five Gold Rings by her, there's even a brief cameo by those characters! I can't wait to read more from this author!

Maggie works as an IT manager with her 3, very unique team members in the basement of a large corporation. Underappreciated and often forgotten, they've created bonds and close friendships in their years together. There's Frank, anxious and somewhat socially inept, with a controlling mother he's only recently gotten slightly independent from. Jasper is a grumpy and posh man with a begrudging heart of gold and a complex and toxic extended family. Finally, Leo, the sweet, northern man who can actually talk to people in the company without baffling or offending them, who is always willing to lend a hand. Maggie adores them all.

Sparks fly between her and one of her team members after a night of holiday drinking and fun, which she tried to implement after learning IT had been forgotten to be included in the extravagant annual Christmas party. As usual. During the night, she happened to mention that she'd be spending Christmas alone. The team takes her under their wings to join in their holiday plans. She gets to spend an event with one, a family holiday with another, and Christmas Eve and day with a third. The comraderie and comprehension of these men as whole and complex individuals grows as they open their lives, all so she doesn't have to spend the holidays alone.

She can't fully enjoy it, though, as in the back of her mind, she knows HR has tasked her with splitting the team apart for good when she returns.

********

The book was a warm, genuine, and surprising delight. I enjoyed how it's separated into her adventure with each team member, and then her final decision, leading to the present. Her rambling, quirky slip ups and conscious support of her friends made Maggie such a relatable and likable character right from the start.

The only issues I had with the book as a whole were a couple of editing misses where a sentence didn't make sense, as if they read over it and left an extra word in. If you ignored the word, it read fine, so it didn't take away from the book as a whole. I'm normally so picky about loose ends or illogical character development, but these were all so unique and interesting and had such moments of warmth that I genuinely enjoyed the entire read. Even the detestable characters provided such a good contrast that it made the pacing of the book fly by.

This is the first I've read from this author, and she had me laughing out loud more than once. I'll definitely be grabbing more of her work and would recommend others do the same!

We Three Kings by Kristen Bailey was a delightful Christmas story. Maggie Field is planning on a quiet Christmas alone as her parents are away. She is the head of IT at a financial firm, and her three geeky but lovable work buddies invite her to spend time with them and their families over the holidays. She is looking forward to getting to know them better, until she finds out that she has to make one of them redundant after the holidays. Frank’s work is his world, Jasper’s sarcastic humour is everything but it also gets him into trouble, and Leo her new hire is talented, professional, confusingly attractive, dependable, and funny, but the newest employee. How will she decide? How can she spend the holidays with their families and not tell them?

I enjoyed getting to know Maggie's colleagues and their families right along with her. Maggie's Christmas adventures are wonderful as she plays a fake girlfriend for Frank and accompanies him to a family wedding, visits Jasper at his family's posh country estate and sees the real Jasper as well as rescuing baby foxes and getting more than she bargained for, and finally meeting Leo's oldest friends and chasing a very confused donkey on Christmas Day in the Lake District. I was laughing long and often at times, but also feeling empathy for some of what her colleagues were dealing with. The more time she spends with Leo, the more her feelings grow toward him. How can she decide who to let go? The ending is a wonderful surprise and I enjoyed every minute spent with this wonderful group of characters. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Harrie Dobby. This was a new narrator to me and I enjoyed listening to this one. Her storytelling was spot on, with voices, expression, tone and pacing perfect for me. I definitely recommend We Three Kings in whatever format you prefer.

This was such a fun book! I always love stories of found family, of people looking under the surface and discovering the heart of others and appreciating them in all their quirky glory. This is a story of Maggie and the three guys she supervises on the IT team for their company. They are all stereotypical IT nerds in many ways, and over time Maggie has formed them into a little family.

The guys find out that Maggie will be alone over Christmas, so decide she should take turns at each of their families. Maggie sees new aspects of her friends by experiencing them with their families, and they all just plain have a lot of fun!

But things turn complicated when sparks emerge with one of the guys… and when she has a work decision to make. Altogether fun, sweet, and well narrated audiobook.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

I loved Kristen Bailey's previous Christmas novel, Five Gold Rings, so was delighted when I was approved for We Three Kings. This time we follow Maggie an It Consultant who manages three guys in her basement office - Leo, Jasper and Frank. The four of them are a found family, supportive and close, so when Maggie is given the opportunity to spend Christmas with each of them she jumps at the chance. Except the day before she leaves with Frank to attend his sister's wedding as his plus one, HR meet with Maggie and give her an ultimatum. One of them has to go, and Maggie is the one to choose who it will be.

We see Maggie deal with this inner turmoil of breaking up their little family while attending the most extravagant wedding of the year, get bitten by some very cute foxes, and fall in love in the Lakes. And steal a donkey with a sleigh of Santas. With every interaction her decision changes, but across the whole story Maggie always comes across as very likeable, down to earth and just an all round good friend. She has such a good relationship with all three guys, knowing what each of them needs to be bring out the best of them. If anything I would have liked a bit more development between Maggie and Leo. Their story is quite quick to turn into love and the third act break up fell a little flat to me.

However overall this was a really fun, feel good Christmas story that feels very British. Think The IT Crowd but with a much more fleshed out plot. This is exactly the sort of story I want to read at Christmas time. That epilogue to the three wise men? Amazing.

Thanks to Kristen Bailey, Storm Publishing, and NetGalley for the ARC; my opinion is my own.

Maggie is the manager of the underappreciated IT department for a London company. When she’s faced with her first Christmas alone, her three employees organize her holiday time to be rotated between them: she attends a wedding as Frank’s plus-one, visits Jasper’s family’s elaborate estate, and visits Leo’s close-knit rural family for the holiday itself. Just before the holiday, HR tells her she has to choose one of the three to be let go in the New Year.

I think plenty of people would like this book for the sweet characters, funny set pieces, and wholesome seasonal set dressing, but it wasn’t for me. It was a real slog to get it finished in time to post my review.

Partly that’s because I can’t get into romances with a power differential. But I also felt like there were a lot of cliched characters (the cute moppets, the best friend who is an overwhelmed but wealthy mum, the earthy unfiltered granny). There were plot elements that were dropped in but not particularly authentic or connected. There were many passages where Maggie muses in a banal way values (the importance of family, etc) that felt flat and uninteresting.

I read a Christmas book by this author a couple of years ago and loved it. It was irreverent as crap but I found it hilarious and heartwarming. So I was very excited for this one. It did fall a tiny bit short of that one, but it was still so cute. This one wasn't as wild as the last one. It was definitely more of a romance and ode to friendship. I wouldn't say it was as irreverent as the last but it definitely had its moments of vulgarity. There was definitely some sexy stuff...though not really skippable because it was just kind of all embedded in the story and some F words...probably like 10-15.

I might say it was a teensy bit long. It isn't even long per se, but it felt like it dragged a bit. Even still it was a fun time and if you don't mind a little crassness in your holiday, I think you would enjoy this one.

What a treat! I thoroughly enjoyed Kristen Bailey's marvelous We Three Kings.

This one reminded me a bit of Bridget Jones, just because of the plucky heroine and the wacky friend group. Plus romping all over the British countryside lends to that atmosphere too.

The story totally resonated with me and the characters are completely engaging. What fun.

The audio version is beautifully performed by Harrie Dobby.

Last holiday season, I read Five Gold Rings by Kristen Bailey and absolutely loved it! When Kristen reached out to see if I would be interested in her newest holiday read, We Three Kings, I jumped at the chance. Her latest book is just as funny and festive as Five Gold Rings.

While We Three Kings is a holiday romance, the book also celebrates friendships. The friendship among Maggie, Frank, Jasper, and Leo is truly wonderful! These friends support each other through thick and thin, embodying the spirit of unconditional support and unwavering loyalty.

When Maggie chooses to spend Christmas alone, her friends devise a different plan. Ultimately, Maggie finds herself savoring quality time with each of them: Frank’s “Crazy Rich Asian” sister’s wedding, Jasper’s family party, and Leo’s Christmas Eve/Day celebration. These adventures are downright hilarious. The story includes a swoony “he falls first” romance but never detracts from these quirky, wonderful friends!

The theme of kindness is the greatest and most uplifting surprise of We Three Kings. Maggie and her friend are so kind and thoughtful—people with big hearts! There's no better reminder this holiday season than the warmth of kindness!

Other Highlights: Workplace romance, crazy antics, hilarious innuendos, a cameo from Eve & Joe

For what it is, it does well. A unique premise and decent writing for an average Christmas romance. Beautiful London Christmas setting. A solid plot helps the reader to spend quality time with each of the main characters and their families, in turn.

But I couldn't get past the fact that it's an inappropriate workplace romance with a weird power struggle going on in the background.

We Three Kings is one of the best romcom reads of the year! I absolutely loved it and the book made me laugh out loud too many times to count! Kristen Bailey has become one of my favorite authors because she will always find a way to tell a story and put a smile on your face. Maggie Field is an IT supervisor and has 3 "geeky" men that are in her department. Their office is kept in the basement and her department is never invited to the big company parties. The entire company would be lost without the IT Department, but they're not included in social events. Maggie's going to be alone for Christmas break as her parents are on a cruise. She's going to housesit while they're gone. She's kind of looking forward to it and the movie marathon that she can indulge in.

When the 3 guys find out that she's going to be alone, they each invite her to come with them for different parts of the break. Frank needs a plus one for his sister's wedding that he's dreading. Maggie will be his plus one and stand up for Frank to his family. Jasper invites her to his country home when she's done with the wedding duties. Leo invites Maggie to his family home a couple hours from London. His entire family will be there and it will be cozy and fun! She'll go with Leo once Jasper's family gets ready to go on their ski trip. A week that was going to be lonely has turned into a week full of fun with 3 guys she genuinely likes as friends. There's one guy though that she would like to be more than friends with. She's excited to see what he's like outside of work over a few days.

The last day of work before break, Maggie sends the guys home a few hours early. They're in the basement so who's going to know? Her desk phone rings and Maggie's boss asks her to come up to her office. Maggie can't imagine what she wants as it's the last day! Maggie's boss tells her that she has the Christmas break to decide which one of her team to let go. The company needs to make some cuts to save money and one of the cuts is a person on Maggie's team! When Maggie returns to work on January 2 she is to give her boss the name of the person to be cut. Her boss says they will receive a nice package and the company will help them to find another job. Maggie and her team have become good friends and enjoy spending time together. She' can't imagine having to let one of them go! So much for a fun Christmas break!

As you enjoy reading Maggie's adventures with the guys you'll be roaring with laughter at times and your heart will break at times. We Three Kings is a fantastic book that puts you in the holiday spirit if you're not there already. I loved We Three Kings and rate it 5 stars with my very highest recommendation! I can't say it enough, read this book! I'd like to thank NetGalley and Storm Publishing for an advanced copy of We Three Kings in exchange for a fair review! I love Kristen Bailey's writing and look forward to her next book! #WeThreeKings

Maggie is the supervisor in her IT department and works with three other guys, Jasper, Frank, and Leo. Unfortunately, Maggie has to spend this Christmas alone, so her co-workers let her come along on their separate holiday excursions. During this time, she gets to know them and their families a lot better. But here's the catch, right before they left for their respective holidays, Maggie was given a really tough choice to make that will affect everyone, and she has no idea what she will do.

What a completely pleasant read that puts you right into the holiday spirit. I've never read another Kristen Bailey book, but I will definitely be adding more to my TBR. The emotional build up between Maggie and her three co-workers was so heart warming and I loved that she was able to spend time with them all outside of work to get to know them better. Although, the decision was rough for her to make, I knew what she would do in the end, and I was right, and I truly think that it was the best that could have happened.

Every character was just so likeable and sweet and Maggie and Leo were just the perfect compliments of each other. Frank is an awkward sweetheart, Jasper was a true angel who wanted nothing but the best for all of his friends, and Leo was just a perfect man. Maggie was a wonderful FMC with soft spots for all three of them, as well as everyone else around her.

Thank you to Storm Publishing, Kristen Bailey, and NetGalley for the eARC of this book. This is my honest review.
