A vacation gone wrong, a mysterious message, and a diner expansion. Can Ivy Clark handle it all?
Ivy stumbles upon a clue about a murder scribbled in the back of a library book. It might be a prank, but what if it’s not? Tabitha Coat’s death was ruled an accidental drowning ten years ago, but could it have been something more?
Ivy can't rest until she uncovers the truth, even if it means combing through every book in the town library for more clues. The closer she gets, the more perilous her search becomes. Will she uncover the truth, or will she share Tabitha’s fate?
Overall, I enjoyed this cozy mystery. I liked the main character, Ivy, and the side characters were interesting and just quirky enough to be fun without going over the top. The actual mystery wasn't the greatest. I found several plot points to be a little too unbelievable, and that took me out of the story. Other than that, I liked it.
Love this series. The characters are so fun, love their bantering. I appreciate that the love interest doesn't overpower the mystery. This had me really trying to figure out who was involved in the murder. Loads of fun. Appreciate the recipes at the end.
Loved this series and I'm always so happy when I find great and fun things to read. I very much like Boyd, Jose, Jett, and Ivy met Jett's parents - parents were so nice and they like Ivy.
It's becoming more clear that Jett likes Ivy as more than a friend. Ivy likes him more than a friend also, but neither person is willing to tell the other. It is so obvious though! Maybe they'll go on a date in one of the next couple of books. Then maybe by book 9 they'll be engaged! Lol.
There were clues in this one that led Ivy and her entourage on a wild goose chase go find lot who killed Tabitha. Plenty of trouble and mischief is had by all and even Creepers gets in on the fun.
Ivy made an error that I saw coming a mile away, but she didn't stay stuck too long.
A couple of books are mentioned in this book. One, in particular I want do bring up and that's the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency. It is by Alexander McCall Smith and I read the series years ago. I returned the main character's name - Mma Rmatswe. She drank red bush tea aka rooibos. The tea is rooibos and you should try it if you're a tea drinker. I specifically ordered some after reading about it and I drank it during my days reading the series by Smith. Anyway, the Detective agency series is terrific and I highly recommend it.
I also recommend this small town series! Next is Book 4 of 9 Murder With a Splash of Vanilla. See you in my next review!
This is the third book in the Ivy Clark Mystery Series. So far each book has been as good as the previous one. Even if you didn’t read these books in order, you would still be able to follow all the storylines and who all the townspeople are. Each book is connected by the people and not the mysteries themselves.
I still love Boyd and Jose but I was a little disappointed Jose didn’t get to participate as much in this book since he’s now the diner manager. The only part of the series I’m not the hugest fan of is Creepers. I like Creepers. He’s a cute addition. What I don’t like is how he’s always running around the diner and how it talks about Ivy/Boyd/Whomever petting him and then they are in the diner kitchen. Either standing or making food but I get so grossed out thinking about there being cat hair everywhere and then not washing their hands.
But the overall characters’ arcs could be better. The diner owner is interested in the sheriff. The sheriff is interested in her. They like they are in kindergarten and don’t talk to one another. Everyone in the town says stuff to show they know they are interested in each other and they act like they don’t understand. It’s painful. Don’t see why they can’t just have a conversation or ask the other out.
A new phrase showed up part way through the last book and was painfully overused here. “She moved her lips from side to side.” Then another character “moved their chin from side to side.” Who does that?
I'm obsessed with this adorable series! I can't get enough of Ivy, Jose, and Boyd. This one involved a cold case with obscure clues. This added such a fun element and provided an opportunity for Brian, the library owner, to join in on the case. These books continue to be perfect cozy reads to unwind with. I want both to devour them all but also save them so I still have more to read!
I love Ms. Dixon's Ivy Clark Mysteries. The storylines are interesting and fresh. I am looking forward to reading other books in this series. Hurry up and write!!
When the weather turns cold, AZ native Ivy Clark learns just how dangerous it can be, as she tries to solve her latest who done it mystery. Quick fun community oriented slow burn Rom-Com.
I got a little lost in the middle with all the clues and different character names being mentioned that weren't actually in the book. It was hard to keep track of who they were talking about since they weren't part of the story.
Oh, how I love this series. The characters are so fun, as are the mysteries. My only complaint is I wish the books were longer, so the story and characters could be really fleshed out.
Not super suspenseful or twisty, but still a fun mystery. I appreciated that it was a clean read. Just one little pet peeve (the misspelled "alright" was used a distracting number of times).
The mystery has just enough twists to keep the pages turning. It’s light, charming, and exactly the kind of read you want when you need something comforting with a little suspense on the side.
