SUMMARY (50 words or less) More more more. That’s all I can say, lol. I love this series and it hasn’t disappointed. It’s interesting, it’s unique, it doesn’t pull punches and claim to be something it’s not. The characters are real and have flaws in the most believable way, yet there are unseen twist.

Hope and Slade just can’t seem to catch a break. It seems like the minute they conquer one obstacle another one appears. To get away from it all they decided to go away together. Well that is what Hope was thinking until charges are brought up on Slade. He does what he thinks is best for her and leaves. I hate regrets. And I hate goodbyes. And I know you’re going to hate me, but the best thing for you to do is to forget you ever met me. I need to fix this. Left heartbroken again, Hope has no one to turn to. That is until Hutch and his friend K come back into her life. Then her dad makes a huge mistake and Hope had no choice but to work for the very man that left her for dead. “Whatever has happened, I will help you. It doesn’t matter what it is. Do you believe me when I say that?” He smoothed my hair. “Whatever happens, we can do it together.” Hope is struggling once again with herself. She has a fierce but bizarre attraction to Hutch. Now that the town is dead set on building a new church and getting rid of all witches. Things become even more complicated. In an effort to cheer Hope up, Hutch takes her and Karsen to a party, immediately Karsen has taken a big dislike to K. Hope realizes that there are more than just witches that exist in the little town of Cherry. “Have you ever felt happy and miserable at the same time?” When Slade returns it puts a damper on Hutch and his plans for Hope. Hope is pissed off at Slade, he did leave her and did tell her to forget him. She is trying to move on but their connection to each other makes it nearly impossible. “It’s taken care of, and so here I am.” I couldn’t believe it. “You’re back for good?” “For good,” he insisted. “He doesn’t seem as appealing anymore does he?”
Now that Slade is back, things for Hope go from bad to worse. Slade does everything in his power to win Hope back. “No, what I’m saying is even at my best nobody else ever made me feel the way you do when I’m at my worst.” He touched my face, his fingers skimmed my lips. “Slade,” I said lost for words. “Before you came to Cherry my life was singing, pretending to enjoy partying and sleeping. That night you came into the park was the first time I saw something real.” He kissed my forehead and let me wrap my arms around him.
Confused by Slade and Hutch, Hope learns that Slade has dealt with K in the past and that Hutch is behind some of the recent chaos in the town of Cherry and has used her Father as leverage. Feeling betrayed and fooled Hope goes to Slade to talk things out. Hope decides she needs to kill the mayor in order for her and her father to be free of the drama. Slade tries to convince her that killing the Mayor isn’t the answer.
Hutch’s true colors finally come to the surface, the mayor suddenly drops dead and if Hope doesn’t do what Hutch and K want. Her father is next. Hope has no choice but to go along with Hutch and K’s plan. When Hope is faced with a choice to save either her father or Slade, it is one that will change things forever.
Hope and Slade struggle to find a happy balance in their rollercoaster of a relationship. When they are on, they are perfect for each other and when they are off, it leaves Hope in such turmoil. Hutch sees this and takes advantage of Hopes situation. He ends up being not at all the guy he claims to be. K is sneaky and has his own agenda in which I can’t wait to see how that will all pan out. Poor Hope, her father has really put her in a horrible position and he is so dead set of getting Slade out of Hope’s life. I was happy to see the more romantic side of Slade. He was finally able to open up a little and show his caring side.
Holly did a fantastic job of creating this crazy world in which supernatural beings and witches exist. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for the next boo k in this series. I keep my fingers cross that Hope and Slade can remain by each others side to overcome whatever maybe be heading their way.
This book picks up right up where we are left in Twisted Magic. Hope just seems to be getting deeper and deeper into situations she isn't sure how to deal with, and it is becoming more and more challenging to know who she can trust. Slade seems to be running away and leaving her on her own to deal with a variety of new and terrifying situations. Hutch is right there to provide support both emotionally and physically, however, there is still a lot of mystery that surround him. Hope doesn't want to misuse her power and struggles to maintain her life and relationships with her family and friends as best she can in the face of a lot of adversity.
I was still mostly pissed with Slade during the first half of this book because it felt like he wasn't being helpful and definitely wasn't giving Hope the support she needed. Hutch still seemed like he was really just there for Hope, but we definitely get to see some other sides of Hutch as the story progresses, and I was left with a lot more questions than answers about him. We also get to meet K, and he is definitely a character I want to know more about. He's pretty scary and is definitely dark, but there is something to be said for someone who says what is likely the truth because they don't seem to care about the feelings of anyone else. There is a strange honesty there, and it makes for some really intriguing possibilities.
I'm back on team Slade, but I know that there will likely be a lot more ups and downs before he and Hope are likely to have a happy easy relationship with one another. Hope seems to be getting more confident in her powers even if she chooses not to use them, and I am excited to see how all of that comes into play as she is forced to go down some roads she would not choose if she weren't looking out for those she cares about. I am eagerly awaiting the next installment in this series.
I was given this book as an ARC copy to give an honest review and honestly, I LOVED it! I have been waiting patiently for this book to release, and getting to read a copy in advance was amazing!
Hope, Slade, and Hutch really keep the reader on the edge of their seat in this book. After the incident with Audrey at the end of Magic, I was really worried about what was going to happen to Slade and Hope. The author sets it all out there for you in the first couple chapters so you are able to get past what happened, and get to what is to come. I really couldn't put this book down because I kept wondering what was going to happen next.
I love Slade, but in this book I didn't like him to start out with. After everything that happened, he really leaves Hope wondering if she can trust him and stay with him. Hutch really scoops in during this book and tries to turn Hope against Slade. Hutch suddenly becomes the guy all of the readers would want Hope to fall for, but he starts to show what he is all about when you see more into his world. This is where we meet K. He is such a straight forward, cocky guy. He likes to tell everyone how it is, and he doesn't worry about keeping secrets. Reading this story with him involved makes it interesting because it makes you see there is more to this story than just the witches that are the main characters.
I really can't wait for book #4 to see what happens after everything that goes down in book #3. I want to know more about K as well to see what he is all about! I cannot thank Holly enough for letting me read this book in advance and write a review for her. I absolutely love this series and would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a paranormal love story with a twist :)
Oh, this series is something else. I’ve recently read the third book, Black Moon, in the Ink series, and while I ended up loving it, I didn’t start out that way. That is also the way that book two, Twisted Magic, went down for me. But I love this series, I really do. I’ll try to keep this as spoiler free as possible, but it is going to be hard!
Book three starts out with Nona, Claude, and Hope’s dad bailing her out of jail. Audrey is out of the picture, and I’m waiting for Hutch to make a reappearance. Because in my own personal saga of Hutch vs. Slade, Hutch is currently in the lead. Hope is, in my opinion, on a downward spiral. Her attitude is in the garbage, she’s using magic publicly, and she is making what I consider to be not great decisions. Really, if I’m honest with myself, I do not like Hope much at this point. I almost feel like she’s taking on the personality of Audrey, and I’m disappointed in her.
“Then please explain it to me. What do you want?”
I wanted a lot of things. “I want devotion. I want love. I want to be the best thing that happened to someone. So vital they would die without me.”
“That’s love, Doll.” Hutch said. “The most insane kind.”
I dropped my chin to my palm. “The most unobtainable kind.”
However, the action really starts to ignite with this book. The love triangle with Slade, Hope, and Hutch continues to spin – even after Hope makes her choice, the odd man out still is trying to win his way into her life. And her choice is the right choice, and that is when she starts to make her way back into my good graces. The man she chooses is also winning my heart, and I feel like I can root for him with a clear conscience, even though the road was rocky on the best of days to get where they were. I’m proud of what these two are building, and they are a couple I enjoy to read about.
There were some points in this book where I wished the scenes were a little bit more fleshed out. There were a couple instances I had to reread a few paragraphs because I had felt like I missed something. That is something that even seemed to work itself out as the story went on.
“This is real life, Hope,” Dad said. “Witches don’t exist. Girls don’t fall in love with vampires. Everything is going to be fine.”
As always, Cherry, CA is full of interesting characters. A new one is named K. Yep, he just goes by K. And boy, is he interesting. I think he is definitely one to watch. There were times I loved him, times I hated him, and in the end I was just all like, “whoa!” Hopes best friend, Karsen, kind of grated on me in this book. She and Hope are just not as connected as they once were, and it makes me a bit sad. I really loved that Hope had this great relationship with another female, and to see it falling to the wayside is just a bit sad.
Overall, I really loved how this book had twisted and turned and flipped me on my ass. Some people who you don’t expect have more than one face, and their hidden personality is quite scary. I love Hope’s new strength, and as her attitude begins to right itself, I feel more in tune with her character. I was kept guessing and second guessing, and the mystery of it all kept me interested and excited for each new chapter. The black magic vs. nature magic, good vs. evil, the whole complexity of not knowing who is exactly good and who isn't is something I'm really loving in this book. Just when I think I've got things figured out and I know where I stand on everything, Holly Hood shows me a whole new side to the Ink series. Now I’m positively on edge waiting for book four!
Oh my, Kenny how I've missed you. If you dont know who Kenny is then you need to read the entire Wingless series by Holly Hood to know exactly who he is and his brother and Eve. I really like the Ink series but I have to admit I love the Wingless series more. I am very excited to see Kenny in this book and I will also have to admit, I can't wait to see what happens if they go see Evan and Eve. The last chapter is the best for me because I was completely shocked to find out that "K" was Kenny. I didnt even see that coming. Now I didnt like it when Kenny said, "She left me at the alter." So not true...he told her to marry Evan! Which still irritates me to this day, but I still hold hope for Eve and Kenny...sigh... But back to the Ink Series. I really enjoyed it and where it is going. Holly has done a good job and I can't wait for the next one.
Hope is back with Slade then she is not and she is with Hutch. Then she realizes Hutch is truly a bad guy so she is back with Slade. But then she is forced to be with Hutch but wants to be with Slade??? WTF and I meant to ramble with that.
Hopes dad is such a mess. You would think killing a woman while drunk would point him in the right direction but he doesn't remember it so...Hope can you get him some help, please.
I was really enjoying this series up until this book but I have hope for the next?
All I Have To Say About This Book Is; Since Hope Loves Music So Damn Much, I Dedicate This Song To You; Stupid Girl by Garbage Because You Are So Frickin' Stupid!
For Slade: Cold by Crossfade You Need To Sing This Song To Hope! And Really Truly Apologize And Not With Your D*ck, Homie!
And Let's Not Forget Hutch: Change by Deftones Oh, Hutch, I Was So Rooting For You! Smh. I Don't Care What Anyone Says, But I'm Still 'Team Hutch!'
Oh Bloody Hell, On To 4th Book. Yeah.. Yeah! I Know!
Book 3 in this brilliant series. Hope finds herself being bailed out of jail, things are changing so fast she is struggling over who to trust. Slade is distant and she finds herself turning to Hutch to try and help her make sense of things going on around her. But as usual more problems arise and Hope has a fight on her hands.
