Think you're too busy to study the Bible? And yet, do you hunger for spiritual meat that will help you grow as a Christian?
Enduring Faith, an eight-week Bible study, delivers the perfect balance of in-depth study and manageable homework. Written in a devotional style with real-life examples, each day's reading is paired with discussion questions and space for journaling. You'll answer questions like:
What's the difference between blind faith and enduring faith?
How can I rest when my schedule is so hectic?
How do I respond to the tests I'm facing right now?
Am I trying to please God by following rules or by living by faith?
Christ's work is final, complete, and perfect. You don t have to live under the bondage of a religious approach to God. Instead, enjoy liberty in Christ through a more intimate relationship with Jesus.
Had the pleasure of reading this book before it was released. It is amazing and truly helped me to make my connection with God stronger. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new devotional.
This is one I've been waiting to read for a long time. The author is a long time friend - in fact she's been like a big sister to me ever since my college years. I can't remember the first time exactly we spoke or corresponded about the idea of writing a Bible study on the book of Hebrews, but I've known she wanted to write this and that she has been working on it amid the busyness of life, for quite a time.
This Bible study, Enduring Faith, doesn't disappoint.
Based on my memory of our conversations, she was frustrated with Bible studies that never provoked readers to genuinely, deeply interact with the Biblical text. Therefore, her goal was to write a study: *that challenged and helped readers dig into the "meat" of Scripture - consistently - yet do so without becoming burdensome; *that encouraged thinking through challenging and sometimes confrontational questions; *that required prayerful consideration of God's Word... its relevance not just today but for each day to come; and *that promoted meaningful and real application of those relevant truths in lives.
It doesn't surprise me that Nivine would write such a study. I've seen her live this. She saw a younger sister struggling very unsuccessfully to live as a Jesus follower in the secular paganism and party-ism of a university environment. She gently but unabashedly confronted the hypocrisy between that girl's life and words, challenged her with God's Word to walk differently... and then faithfully and graciously encouraged her to begin again... resubmitting my life to God. And yeah, in case you hadn't figured it out, I was that girl. The Lord used her in the past to remind me that "...even if *our* faith fails, He remains true--He cannot prove false to Himself." (2 Timothy 2.13, WNT) Today, her book, Enduring Faith, is released. And just as she succeeded in challenging me and helping me to change years ago, I think she has succeeded in achieving all of the above with this study.
One of the things I enjoyed most about this study was a continual focus on the fact that regardless of what this world throws at me, when I see Jesus for Who He is and all of the amazing, miraculous that He accomplished, I can trust Him. Seeing Him, keeping my eyes on Him and all that means empowers a faith that endures.
I'm not one of those folks who reads and rereads books - except for a select few. This book has qualified for that exclusive group: I'm already looking forward to diving back into this study and digging deep again, later this summer.
Life is BUSY! We all have more to do than is humanly possible at times. We are often over extended in our obligations. And most of these obligations are good even great things - church, work, family, friends, children, parents. Some days I wonder if I even have time to breath! Enduring Faith is a very manageable yet thought provoking book that draws you near the throne of God. This devotional can be completed in just a few minutes each day that will change your relationship with our Father. This devotional will reveal to you that our faith is ALL about Him, the author and finisher of our faith.
I have had the honor to be a student of several Bible Studies led/facilitated by Nivine Richie. Her love for God's Word and her desire to share her knowledge with others is amazing. She has the unique ability with the help of the Holy Spirit to make God's Word alive and relevant to our lives today. Nivine has a gift!
Enduring Faith is an excellent tool to study His Word and improve your Christian walk. I highly recommend this study for anyone who desires the 'meat' of God's Word.
Nivine, thanks for sharing this study with us and being obedient to God's calling.
While reading this book it made me realize how many excuses I make for EVERYTHING. I try to make everything in life work or try to fix everything that is wrong. In reading this devotional I have learned more and more of what I have already known, but the fire has been lit under me again, that I can't do anything...it is all God. I need to be doing my quality time with God or I am NEVER going to be successful in anything that I believe should be fixed or done. It is time for me to stop and realize that life is going to happen NO MATTER WHAT, but I must give my time to God before I even start or end the day. My family will be better because of my obedience to God. My relationship with Him has to be number one before anything else can matter.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading your Bible study, Enduring Faith. I would just like to say that I appreciated your complete and total focus on Jesus, the object of our faith. Jesus is the one who sets our faith apart from any other.
I also want to commend you on your use of great word pictures through your stories at the beginning of each chapter. Your ability to take something simple from every day life and use it to illustrate a Biblical truth has always been a gift of yours. You do it effortlessly.
Additionally, the length is ideal. I also appreciated the fact that you capitalized any name or pronoun that referred to Christ (Him). Finally, I love the fact that you dedicated the study to Pat!
This is a great devotional. It is great to have a thoughtfully written guide to help you ask questions and dive deeper into God's Word. Richie does a great job of providing insights and asking questions that make you think and consider what you've read as part of this study. I recommend this to any one who is looking at making their study/reading of the bible more meaningful and giving it a definite purpose and focus. Disclaimer: I won a free copy of this book from a Goodreads giveaway and felt compelled to write this review as thanks for the free copy of the book. Receiving this book as part of a giveaway in no way influenced the content of my review of the book - it simply ensured that I would write a review.
Thank you for this great study!!! I have always found Hebrews a somewhat difficult book to understand. This bible study has enriched my understanding of the book of Hebrews and also painted a picture of who the object of my faith clearly is...Jesus. I love the compact size of the book and the material and questions are full of rich information but easy to digest, especially with a busy schedule. This is one I will keep for years to come for reference and reflection! I am a leader of Women's Ministry at my church and plan to share this with other women in our church during our fall Bible study!!
Enduring faith is a great devotional working through Hebrews. Richie has some great insight that leads to a deeper understanding of Hebrews and the Faith Heroes throughout the book. The chapters are short and easy to read. As I worked my way through it I felt that each day's devotion left me encouraged and inspired. Enduring Faith is a great devotional and I can't recommend it enough.
"Enduring Faith" by Nivine Richie is a wonderful devotional book. The author takes scripture outside of Hebrews and personal stories to help deliver the message. There are work pages to help you think about the lesson and consider areas in your own life. This would be a good book for a church Bible study or an individual.
A powerful study book that will make you think & bring you closer to God and His word. I used it for a personal study, but would also be a good group study.
