the only reason this book isnt 5 stars for me is because in the first 50ish percent the characters ran around eachother a lot and that frustrated me 😭 there was not even the slightest bit of communication and they kept having the same conversations over and over.

the other issue was the author barely ever uses contractions. meaning her sentences always had “do not” “they are” “can not” “would not” “is not” etc and never the abbreviated form, which personally took me out of the story and made it feel kind of stiff.

i still really enjoyed it, especially after the first half when they finally started communicating some and working together.

eros lookalike (and actalike) contest at my house guys!!!

This is my very first dark romance and i agreed to it because the girl kills, most of the dark romances are ehh to be because i don’t wanna see a man being a stalker and a murderer, it’s not a fictional books it’s the daily news, however the idea that a girl picks r*pists and ass@ulters and unalives them with her rival also the guy who worships the ground she walks on is very appealing to me.

Trigger warning : violence, murder, mentions of sexual assault, racism, sexism, mention of honor killing, religious trauma, mentions of femicide, paedophilia, incest, suicide

This book is for you if you like :
୨ৎ academic rivals to lovers
୨ৎ girl who takes revenge
୨ৎ pathetic ( affectionate ) guys
୨ৎ dark romance
୨ৎ a little unhinged romance

plot : Isidora and eros as rivals, always in the race to be the first place or so isidora thinks, because eros is obsessed, he worships the ground isidor walks on and think, well knows she is far more intelligent than him, a genius in his own words and now to prove her that he is such a devotee, he helps her kill men who have down women wrong……so romantic

main characters : Still want to be a third if they’ll take me, ready to help them clean up the bodies.

isidora, my icon, a chapter into her pov, i knew she’d be my favourite and also realised why eros is so obsessed like boy me too, she is smart, determined and a girl boss, she is what we need in this world.

eros, more men like him please, even though he was borderline a stalker he had boundaries, he is respectful ( i promise he is ) and a pathetic simp, boy was down on his knees begging her so yes.

i wanted them to suffer that pain we are bound to carry the moment we get out of the womb as a girl….

romance : me when ??? It's slow but also so delicious, making you mark every single line that comes out of their mouth when they are together, beautiful in a scary and sacred way, they did make me want to read more dark romance but I know nobody will stand a chance.

For everyone who loves a little dark with their romance, pick it up you won’t be disappointed

3.75 ⭐️

thank you to the author, rea writes for this arc!

(truly, she was so kind throughout this process)

this book was delightful! the story was well constructed and interesting, all while including elements of seriousness and romance. isidora & eros were such a fascinating couple. their romance was SLOW BURN. the way they denied their feelings and in each other in the beginning, but ultimately ended up falling for each other in many different ways was so heartwarming. i loved the representation found in this book, for example: the fmc, being a brown and a chubby girl, was so well done. i also loved the fact that it was dual pov, so we got to see the yearning from both sides (mostly eros, lol). please do check the trigger warnings because there were some intense moments throughout, which is obvious, given the subject matter. you can feel the rage through the book and characters, especially isidora from all of the lives lost due to some horrible and heinous men. one thing that i wasn't a fan of was the miscommunication, I just felt like at times isidora was inconsistent and in the beginning eros was equally confusing, which irritated me a bit, but otherwise it was great! I truly recommend this book and go read it RIGHT NOW!

this book was immediately my favorite read of all year. OMFGGGGGGGGG it was so good and amazing and extraordinary and i love it dearly. isidora & eros truly mean so much to me . isidora is such a strong, determined and beautiful character. she is complex but in the most relatable way and i’ve been so lucky to have gotten the chance to read about her and get to know her early. her aspect of anger resonates with me so much i truly do relate to her from my core. she is so smart and will always take up the chance to beat eros at anything! eros is the most patient and persistent man i’ve ever read about and made me raise my standards to the roof. he was always gentle and respectful towards isidora, he never made her feel alone while she was with him it genuinely brought tears to my eyes. the way he speaks to her is beautiful i am actually obsessed with him and IM IN LOVE. every time isidora was feeling low or bad he was always there to comfort her, no matter what it took he always stayed, he didn’t even budge! their dynamic together was perfection, isidora walked him like a dog as she should! they had perfect banter throughout the entire book. them together was everything and more i could’ve asked for. we love a man who would go to the ends of the earth for his preciosa and eros gave us all of that. i loveeeeeee!!!!
i had high expectations for this book because rea is an amazing writer and she still managed to exceed my expectations. THANK YOU SOOOO INCREDIBLY MUCH FOR THIS ARC REA I LOVE YOU AND I’LL READ ANYTHING YOU PUT OUT INTO THE WORLD. you are so special and talented.

If you need a book where the Ml is obsessed but respectful , isn’t sexualizing/objectifying her, Both having heartbreaking story’s ( I’m fucking serious , take the tws serious , I cried my ass off) and with amazing romance, a really amazing written Mc who you will totally will feel and simp for ,this could be for you. the mc is fucking real and powerful , she’s so fucking strong in every way, showing her emotions , her past, her heart, she’s funny, clever, their chemistry at the beginning was already soooooooooo good . And it just gets better and deeper the more I read, their connection , their trust , vulnerability . Not only the romance , but the rage scenes , traumatic emotional ones, that gave me new perspectives and insights, really got me. I fucking love the humor in this book. They’re both crazy and I’m down bad for both of them. Thank you author for writing such amazing characters, love and about the important ,sad topics in such a incredible way that I enjoyed reading every second of it. Can’t wait for more books from you 💗

I love this book. It was so good I love a man who begs. Like omg you’re telling me he had been obsessed with her for years before she even spoke to him. And when he got on his knees for her to be her bf omg I love.

Truthfully, this was one of the best books I've read all year. Isadora and Eros are insanely loveable -though mildly irritating in their miscommunication- and I was attached to my laptop the whole way through. Their tension is palpable throughout the whole book and Isadora quite literally walks him like a dog. Slay.

The representation in this work kept me hooked, with the fmc being unconventionaly GORGEOUS and the portrayal of her absolute rage towards men. From the dedication, I was leaning towards my screen with utter focus even my math classes don't get, totally in love with Isadora's anger and determination to be the change she wants.

I messaged Rea throughout my reading screaming about how poetic her writings are, with the denial of obvious romance to the most beautiful slow burn written in our era making over half of the book so insanely quotable I want the words tattooed on my eyelids.

Really, Liquid Gold is more than worth the read. The dialogue is so realistic it made me want to shout at the characters and the topics of violence against women are handed so well.

thank you rea for allowing me to be an arc, I'm really grateful for that, specially because I'm still underage and some of the topics were sensitive. Thank you ♡

(truthfully I didn't remain much in contact but I loved the book and I do have annotations on EVERYBTING so 3)

I didn't have time to read it a lot, so the time I set to actually read it a day I had free, I stayed up until 3 AM. I didn't get a wink of sleep after because I just kept thinking about the book.

To be honest I really loved the book! Slowburns will forever have my heart and this was no exception. The female rage and I ADORED how Isidora is portrayed all throughout the story. A lot of the things she thought, I related to. Which basically goes to show how fleshed out this whole book is. Eros is kind of annoying at first (all guys are), but that's okay because he gets better. The tension is also something I kept giggling and kicking my feet to which I normally don't do but this was one of my few exceptions. Overall I enjoyed reading the book, the dual POV, and the whole enemies to lovers pipeline <3

I received a digital ARC for „Liquid Gold“, thanks to the author who was kind enough to reach out to me! Thank you Rea for providing this book to me and happy release! :)

About the characters; from the start on they had a rather unique dynamic which was a bit tough to get used to hence it‘s not what I usually read, but I genuinely enjoyed it! ^^

I adored the diverse representation in this book so much, which is why I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to read a diverse, dark(er) romance.

Now, the reason why I said dark(er) is that it genuinely did not feel like a true dark romance for the biggest part of the book. When it did, I liked how it was written though!

Plot-wise this book was enjoyable and especially hence the author has a quite fluent writing style, it was easy to get into the story! ^^ I will try and update this review in the future where I will discuss certain aspects of the book in more depth! :) (of course spoiler free)

Literally one of my fav books EVER. It just blew my mind by how good it was and how much i loved it. The characters are so real and so deep, the romance so intense and cute at the same time. And the odd form of speech creates a real immersion into the eerie vibe of the book.
The mix of thriller and romance is just absolutely perfect. You have a dark plot, with sad trauma and stories, intertwined with the love of the mcs as a way of mutual salvation.
The topics dealt with in the book may be controversial, but as someone who shares the same values, it is such a relief to finally see an author say these things out loud.
Def recommend this book!
