Welcome to the new age in talking animal fantasy!

The Magical Underground has a name....

There is a new master Wand-Maker on Archana, and he could be the key to understanding every mystery -- if only he would come out of hiding.

Meanwhile, a new arrival brings yet another magical artifact into Osric’s hands. Seeking the answers it may contain brings valuable knowledge and terrible danger.

The war is beginning, and Osric’s small force may be the only hope of the irua race surviving. He must find a way to cope with his broken heart and rally his troops in time to save them.

Now, with love torn apart by prophecy, Bridgett must follow her own path as she seeks to help Osric succeed. Can she change the tide of the war, or will Osric lose the very essence of his being as he battles the forces that threaten their world? Dredek’s motivation is revealed, and the mystery of the wand is finally solved. Will they see the answer in time for a difference to be made, or will the dark wizard be too powerful to be stopped once his plan is in motion?

Welcome to Archana, a world different from Earth where some of the animals are sentient and can talk. There are dwarves, elves, unicorns, dragons, nd creatures brand new for this series. On Archana a good death is when one is hunted, killed, and eaten as food to nourish others. Everyone has magical abilities which are channeled through wands.

The worldbuilding is handled deftly and in an interesting manner that engages one in the character and plot development at the same time.

More excitement. I love this series. The story line and descriptions bring the whole thing to life in my head. I can "see" Pebble and all his antics. I can even hear his voice. I can imagine Dredek but can't decide if he really is evil. And, I'd still like to give Gus a kick in the butt. Bring on the next one!

Fight

Bridget is fighting to gather warriors. With minimal luck. Osric is fighting to survive without Bridget, to maintain the barracks and all the volunteers, to understand his new magic, and to prevent the annihilation of entire species.

Today I seem to be going through and rating some books harshly and here I am doing it again. The previous book left off with such a cool setup that I was expecting this book to take on a few challenges and further develop what the characters know about magic and prepare for war. We got some of that in this book but the book moved through to many plot lines. I think this book could have been split in two and more time spent developing each of the settings. I am still hooked on the story and I am looking forward to the next books but I am hoping that the story isn't petering out.

I like this story. It's easy to read and pretty well-written. I look for something that I can read fairly quickly in the evening and is not too taxing right before I go to sleep. The world-building is good and the characters are well-drawn. I love the prairie dogs - gives a whole new dimension to the characters. I will definitely look for the next installment.

Best of the series so far

This part of the story was more engaging than the first two. The battle finally begins. Pebble quits talking in the annoying voice. Gus is still irritating. More mystery is presented. The ending makes no sense to me, but maybe the next book will explain it.

This was a good continuation in the series. A lot happened in the scant 256+/- pages. However the ending did not occur in this book and while I do like a series I don't like waiting to see if more books will becoming. It is a trilogy after all. Wrap it up and end the tale.

Great story

I throughly enjoyed this book as well as the previous ones. Each has kept me interested and curious as to what will they discover next as their adventure continues. Looks like I'll be on my way to the next book and adventure.
Thank for writing this series. So far I like this author!
