Stolen at birth, Gale is a human in the snowy, northern lands of the fae. He loves the icy hills, the towering evergreens, and the majestic fortress he calls home, but he can’t help yearning for more.
More. In the form of one handsome and lonely fae lord who holds himself just out of arms’ reach.
The only thing Ezra guards more fiercely than the gate is his own wounded heart.
As the Gatekeeper, Ezra is devoted to one thing above all else, his duty. He protects the gate, and he swaps the babies. Beyond that, he keeps to himself and avoids trouble—despite what tales legend might spin.
But when unrest from the other side threatens the fae realm, Ezra must act. To protect his realm, to protect his people, and to protect the fierce young man he’s come to adore.
Trouble, thy name is Gale.

Tempting the Fae Lord is a high fantasy gay romance featuring an icy gatekeeper with a warm, gooey center, a tenderhearted human with a penchant for mischief, and the found family feels we crave. Shameless pining, Hurt/Comfort, slow burn MM romantasy with an unfortunate abundance of beds. A standalone love story within a larger world if you find yourself, like Gale, craving more.
Tempting the Fae Lord is the story of Gale a human who was stolen as a baby and Ezra the Fae Lord who is the Gatekeeper. I couldn't put this book down once I started it, I stayed awake half the night because I wanted to finish the story. These two were just perfect for each other. I loved the characters and world building. This book has it all, danger, lovable characters, humor, and a great plot. I can't tell you how much I loved this book. I can't wait to read more books by Lee Colgin. I would definitely recommend this book. received a free review copy
I don't know who does the covers for Lee Colgin, but they are always gorgeous. Which could be seen as shallow, but it was the cover (and yes, the title too) of A Bridge to a Troll's Heart that first led me to this author. I've yet to be disappointed by anything I've read of hers. And Tempting the Fae Lord was no exception. This was a cozy read for me. Fuzzy blanket, cup of cocoa, electric Ben Franklin stove (alas, no fireplace) and I was all set. I'm new to the Luminia universe and I can't wait to read the rest of the stories. Gale is a human, stolen as a baby and raised in the Fae realm. Ezra is a Fae Lord, the Gatekeeper, guardian to the doorways into the Fae realm. Theirs is a slow burn (at turtle speed) story. Until it isn't and we get all the steam and sizzle. A bit of foolishness on Gale's part puts them and the realm in danger. But with the help from the secondaries (cameos from earlier stories), all ends well. And we get a delightful HEA. A tiny bit of angst. A whole lot of spice. An enchanting and quick read. I received an advanced copy of this ebook and this is my review.
Standalone. Fantasy. Hurt/comfort. Age gap. Found family. Slow burn. Dual POV.
Gale has lived under his guardian’s protection all his life, having been taken from his human family to be swapped with a fae changeling. But his attraction to the gatekeeper and his natural affinity for getting into trouble has Gale following where he shouldn’t and endangering himself, his family, and the gatekeeper.
Ezra is both fae and vampire, and has a soft spot for Gale that grows even stronger as they encounter danger together. I enjoyed that Ezra has experienced loss and doesn’t want to get close to Gale but in the end cannot allow any harm to come to Gale and Ezra’s caring and protectiveness becomes romantic. A series of mistakes shows Gale is compassionate towards even those that have wronged him, and there is some action to show how much of a warrior and powerful Ezra is. Overall, an entertaining story that brushes up against a couple of the author’s previous series, with a strong loyal found family, some action and some steam. 4.25
What a great story. Gale is a human who was swapped for a fae child when he was very young by the gate keeper. He lived on fae lands since then but have always to see his human parents. He was always told no by the gate keeper as it was dangerous to go across the gate. As the story progresses, he keeps following the gate keeper and managed to go across. Meanwhile the gate keeper, Ezra, went across and got attacked by a fae sorceress who had a death mage in her grips. The story starts from there with Gale helping to fight with Ezra. I loved this world building, slow burn romance with Ezra finally giving in to his attraction to Gale. Cannot wait to read more by this author.
Gale and Ezra story was endearing and funny with its fare dose of danger and adrenaline, as well as recklessness steamed from curiosity and desiring the impossible. They slowly strengthen their connection and bonding until a final event that consolidate it for eternity. I loved seeing old characters and also learning of an unexpected connection. I adored their moments together, and their sweet love, as well as their happiness and prospects for the future.
Thank you for the book, here is my honest opinion: 3.5⭐️A new to me author, I don’t believe I’ve had the chance to read any Lee Coglin books before and this was a fabulous place to start! I really enjoyed the characters, Ezra Ang Gale are genuinely easy to root for and the world building was wonderfully intricate. I was invested in the plot and was rooting for Gale and his pining over Ezra. I will admit that it was a slow burn which, while understandable for the characters, was a bit meandering for me. But the writing is engaging and the HEA was skillfully pulled off and satisfying.
I absolutely loved the cold and isolated setting. Poor Gale yearns for love as much as he yearns for freedom to get back home to his family. I adored his feelings for his aloof Ezra guardian. Ezra also cared for Gale in his own way. Gale is sneaky and ends up getting himself and Ezra in a dangerous situation. This will of course bring them intimately together finally too!
I found myself engrossed in this story. I liked how Gale had internal wit that made me chuckle. I was a little squicked out about the age difference/how Gale & Ezra came to know each other. But I think it was handled well enough. I did like how the things that could’ve been incredibly angsty weren’t dragged on & on.
This book started off as slow burn and then whoosh it went up in flames! When the flip happened it was very quick, but very welcome. These two are just lovely together. Another great book by Lee Colgin, definitely recommend!
Loved the concept of a half fae, half vampire gatekeeper that is in charge of switching the changelings and taking care of the humans they’re swapped with. I think the characters ended up being a little flat in my opinion.
Also, nothing wrong with this particular age gap, but it did feel weird that Ezra was basically a father figure to Gale and had raised him from birth. Too close to incest vibes for my taste.
It was ok the demise of the villain is anticlimactic and isn't explained how she isn't bound but has her powers and what's her backstory the turning is a bit cliche
Fantastic book - I literally devoured this book in one go, staying up till the early hours to finish it.
Gale and Ezra had a beautiful connection. Gale was a hand full, curious yet he always knew what he wanted. Ezra didn’t really stand a chance really but he tried to resist what his heart wanted.
Amazing characters and a great storyline that pulled me in instantly.
Highly recommend!
