She’s always belonged to him. She just didn’t know it yet…
Loni

Everyone in Harmony Heights knows about the Order of the Owed. A not-so-secret society, the men who get inducted are set for life. And the women they choose… there’s no escape.

I thought I found one. The second I turned eighteen, I was gone. A new name. A new start. No expectations. When the day came that the new inductees plotted their lives, I wouldn’t be a part of it.

And I believed that for more than a decade--until I received an invitation to my own wedding.

I thought it was a joke. No way was I going to be forced into marrying one of Owed. It wasn’t going to happen—

—and, yet, there I was, dressed in white, about to get married to a man I didn’t know anymore.

Whoops. Wrong again.

Because the man who walked in on the ceremony, calmly shooting my ‘fiancé’ before taking his place?

I know him.

Adrian Heller. My biggest tormentor… and my biggest secret.

Adrian

For too long, I had to hide how I felt about Loni Dougherty. Considering my obsession with her was the biggest open secret in all of Harmony Heights, I didn’t do that great of a job.

Everyone knew—except her.

She thought I was her high school bully. And maybe I was, but I also made her untouchable; at least, I thought I did. No one else could really have her, and I wouldn’t let anyone hurt her more than I had to... until that party senior year.

Even so, I was sure that, once I became one of the Owed, I could make her mine. I held onto that, too, until she simply disappeared and my new loyalties meant I couldn’t chase her out of town.

That doesn’t mean I gave up on her, though. And when she gets dragged back to Harmony Heights to be given away to another Owed, I make sure the whole order knows that I claimed her first.

She looks so pretty with blood on her wedding dress and my name on her lips, even if her eyes are filled with hate as she vows to be my bride.

But I don’t care about that. Loni is mine, and I’ll end anyone who tries to get between us again.

After all, it wouldn't be the first time...

Bloody Wedding is a dual-POV dark romance that begins the new The Order of the Owed series. With the same possessive dark heroes you’ve met in the Deal with the Devil series, and a secret society twist, it gives new meaning to the ’til death do us part.

Thoughts : left with lots of questions. And the vibe of the book seemed off, not the usual feel of Carin Hart’s writing. Loni was a weak FMC… she pushed Adrian away but as soon as he looks at her she caved. No backbone.

⚠️⚠️⚠️spoilers - whole story***
The Order of The Owed: secret society of people that basically think they are better than the rest of the world. All the men get to be the Owed. The women are Offerings and must remain “pure” until they are claimed (as early as 18, as late as 30). If they are not pure, then they become the Used and are basically passed around the Owed, like mistresses. They also have power / status levels… a King (Jack), and knights… Jack’s son, Dallas is an enforcer and heir to the throne.
**Past
Loni- She is bullied by Adrian (Jack’s nephew) a lot. Ever since they were in kindergarten. But for her entire senior year, behind closed doors, Loni has been Adrian’s dirty secret. And she lets him. She craves him but after, he basically slaps her behind and says, sneak out. Then she feels dirty and showers off her shame. But then as soon as Adrian comes around, she falls all over again.
Loni is “dating” Desmond as a cover for really being with Adrian. Desmond tries to push Loni into going further but she always declines, claiming she is saving herself for the claiming ceremony. Knowing she won’t be Adrian’s offering, (he is TOLD Heaven, Loni’s bff will be his offering) Loni resides herself to having this time with Adrian before Desmond claims her. At a party, Adrian walks in on her and Desmond making out and tells Desmond one of the guys needs him. Because Desmond is lower ranking, he has to go. Adrian and Loni get it on and when she leaves the room, someone sees her and tells the King.
Desmond calls Loni out at school and says it was Adrian. Adrian vehemently denies the accusation and of course that hurts Loni. Jack comes to her house and asks her what happened. She basically confirms she isn’t pure anymore but refuses to say by who. Jack doesn’t decide yet but Loni knows he will undoubtedly rule that she is to be a Used.
She goes to Adrian’s to call him out. Adrian seems to act ashamed but Loni yells that she h@tes him and leaves. She leaves town immediately and makes a new life, away from The Order of The owned.
Adrian - He has loved Loni since they were in kindergarten. But when they got to high school, he becomes her bully because he thinks if he makes her undesirable, then he will be the only one to claim her at the claiming ceremony. He doesn’t understand what his mind games are doing to her. He just thinks, oh she’ll forgive me. After Loni left, Adrian goes to Jack and makes a bl00d oath to claim her. Bound to uphold The Order’s rules, Jack accepts the oath.
Adrian watches over Loni, through her job, and st@lking. He also gets rid of her boyfriends. Adrian does have flings for about the first 6 years but then decides he only wants Loni and abstains there after, plotting to get his offering back the entire time she is gone.
**Present <10 years later>
Dallas tracks Loni down and gives her an invitation to her own wedding, to Desmond. She is confused but is told that if she doesn’t marry Desmond, her dad will be kicked out of The Order. And the only way to leave The Order is de@th. She comes back and Desmond tries to SA her before the wedding but she manipulates him and is able to get him to leave.
Dallas keeps Adrian in the loop and he comes to the wedding at the last minute. Adrian puts 3 in Desmond’s chest and forces the priest to marry them instead. Loni is kind of dazed but says I do willingly, knowing she has traded one devil for another, but her father is safe and that’s all that matters.
Adrian tells her the marriage rules of The Order: she has to eat at least 4 meals a week with her husband and she has to sleep at least once a week in his bed. She tries to skirt the rules as much as possible…
B U T
She gives in EVERY TIME ADRIAN COMES NEAR HER!!!! Truly a weak minded / body of a woman. She is always saying leave me alone, I h@te you, you broke me, but still allows him access to her body.
They go back and forth. Adrian realizes several times he messes up. Loni always forgives him.
Jack clearly doesn’t want Loni near Adrian because he wants him to be with an offering who he chose.
It’s also known that Jack unalived his wife because she wanted to be with another man. Even though the men can have mistresses.
Jack lures Loni to his office and then takes her down to “the auctions” in the basement. Adrian finds out and rescues her with the help of Dallas. Loni is groped and touched while down in the basement. Adrian and Dallas plot to unalive Jack with poison.
Dallas becomes the new king and plans on righting his dad’s wrongs.

I mostly enjoyed this book. The plot and the secret societ aspect were very well done but the FMC started to get annoying mid book because she just could not let anything go. I understood it for a while, the MMC put her through hell (in his mind to protect her) and it's a LOT to forgive.

But at some point it got boring and annoying because Adrian was doing everything he could to show Loni how much he loved her (maybe in unorthodox ways but still...) and she just kept being so hot and cold I started skipping chapters everytime I had enough of her.

The ending wrapped everything up nicely AND it redeemed Loni to some extent which is why it gets 4 stars instead of 3.

I really did like the world this book is set in and I could definitely see myself reading the next book in the series when it's released.

Bloody Wedding by Carin Hart is the first book in The Order of the Owed series. This is a dark romance so please check the trigger warnings before reading. I devoured this book! I was hooked from chapter 1. The plotline was interesting and had my attention the entire time. This world was easy to understand with all the rules and players in this secret society. I was able to easily follow along throughout the book. I also really loved how unhinged the characters in this book were.

Loni was strong and a fierce FMC. This girl had it bad for the MMC. Even though the MMC was not particularly nice to her in the past, she still could not avoid falling for him. Adrian was absolutely unhinged and morally grey! I totally get it Loni, he was hard not to love. He was just so charismatic! I loved seeing these two get their second chance. The secret society plotline kept the suspense and I could not stop reading to see what would happen next. Loni and Adrian had great chemistry and I loved them together. I am super excited to see what will happen in the next book of the series. What a great start to a series!!!

Bloody Wedding by Carin Hart delivers exactly what you’d expect from a dark romance with an obsessive, possessive male lead who knows what (or who) he wants—and won’t stop until he has her. It hits all the familiar beats fans of the genre crave, especially those who enjoyed the L.O.R.D.S. series. You’ll recognize the owed/offering dynamic, though it’s explored here with far less depth.

The plot moves quickly, making it a solid palette cleanser if you’re looking for a fast, steamy, low-commitment read. Don’t expect too much world-building or character development—this is more about the intensity of the relationship than intricate storytelling.

If you’re in the mood for something dark, possessive, and undemanding, this one might scratch that itch. Just don’t go in expecting the layered detail or emotional complexity found in similar titles.

5/5 perfectly dark stars!

This book had me hooked from the start! Its dark and delicious, but not between the FMC and MMC. Sometimes I feel that dark romances tend to forget the romance part between the main characters. That wasn't the case in this story and I love it all the more because of it!

While the world, society and most people within this town are as dark as can be, Adrian will be the darkest, and deepest red flag, to kept Loni not just safe, but his.

I dont want to add any spoilers to this review as I throughly enjoyed it going in blind, I'll just say, if you like secret societies, choosen brotherhood bonds, rebellious heirs and men that will defy traditional for their women, then this book and series is for you. I can't wait to read the next book!

I did enjoy getting to read how the society worked. I do wish we had a little more detail into how this society was created and maintained all these years.

I wasn't 1000% sold on their relationship. Adrian really put Loni through the ringer. But he did it all to protect her... I do feel like he truly thought he was doing the best he could and maybe he was. I did like that he would see where he went wrong.

Loni holds onto a lot of the anger she's had since school against Adrian. She doesn't forgive easy. I think she needed to listen more and understand what is happening.

I thought it jumped around a little too much.

I picked this one up as it's been on my wishlist for a while and it was a current kindle freebie. The cover caught my eye but the synopsis is what sold me. I ended up devouring this one in one afternoon I was hooked on Loni and Adrian's story. I mean honestly how can you not love Adrian he's kind of amazing in his own I'm willing to do anything for this woman.

I loved every moment of it and plan to devour the rest of the series. They are interconnected standalone's but you need to read them in order. I can't wait to dive into the rest of the stories. This was my first book by the author but I'm a huge fan now. Highly recommend it hit all my dark romance needs plus Adrian is just chef's Kiss. I'm obsessed.

I didn’t hate this book. I actually rather enjoyed it. However, I feel as if the characters’ identities merged together a bit too much. While they do have a long standing history, it wasn’t played into enough. The book features a woman who while initially argued back and opposed things, she later became submissive and rolled over rather easily.

While this isn’t a bad thing, I didn’t particularly enjoy that aspect. The characters are too dependent on each other in a way that seems… unhealthy and unrealistic. I wish there was more character development for Loni and Adrian.

I also wish there was more history given about the Secret society that encases their life. I wish we were fed more there to understand. When there’s seemingly no consequences to rebellion, how come no one has? It’s unrealistic sociologically and historically. Even in the societies with the worst consequences, rebellion happens. So, how come no one had until Loni?

Loni and Adrian’s story has history and that should have been used better. The story could have been slowed down and dragged out a bit more to give more history on the secret society and for further character development.

I liked this book but Loni pmo a lotttt. Like he’s your bully but you’ll knock around with him for a year? And aside from saying “he was my bully” you get almost zero examples. Not to mention Adrian shows her time and time again that he’s down for her but it comes back to “bUt mY bULLy…” 🙄. Honestly, Adrian was pretty freaken perfect as far as fictional men go so Loni needed to cut the guy a break in my opinion. Lol. Excited that the writer set up a lot of little crumbs for future books. I’ll give the next one a shot to see if I continue on in the series.

I loved Adrian!!!! He was intense, possessive, and protective of Loni. She was in love with him, even though he was her bully. But he loved her so much more ❤️ He was obsessed with her, and she didnt really realize how much. She annoyed me at times, she didn't appreciate him enough... He did everything he could possibly do to make sure she ended up with him, I loved him for it.

Overall I loved the book and I can't wait to continue the series! Sebastien's book will be soo good 🥰 and I really want Connor and Havens story!!!

DNF @36%….sooo I was bored and didn’t feel like continuing the story 🤷🏻‍♀️ The beginning didn’t do well at pulling me into the story—it was a bit weird to try to follow the authors writing and was sloppy/needed more editing. I didn’t like the “flashbacks” through time…annoying…why not give us the story in the correct order because it would have been better that way anyhow. 🤷🏻‍♀️ the story just got to a point where the female MC was just annoying and I lost interest simple as that.

Soooo many unnecessary internal monologues. And they weren't even important. Like she went to a club "Court" and instead of describing the club, she thought of so many unnecessary things. She was looking for Peaches, for pages she thought of so many other things that has nothing to do with Peaches.

I had to suffer bcs I had to be inside these characters' head with their monologues.

They were both annoying.

She did it again! Thoroughly enjoyable read and we start a new series with some familiar names popping up. I am already excited for the next one. I loved these new characters and I was thrilled to see the Reed Twins making another appearance, as well as the mention of other names we’ve previously seen in Carin Hart’s world. 5 stars, had such a good time with this book.

yessss

Holy cheeseballs, this book was good. I sat on the edge of the seat reading this because every turn of the page I had no idea what was gonna happen. The amount of obsession this dude had for her is everything. It is action packed. It is a little dark if you like secret societies, and a man who wants to own you, but you own him instead this is the book for you.

Obsessive boy who will do anything to get the girl? Sign me up!! Great book! I was worried that this book would have a lot of bullying and I always hate that but it does not. The past is mentioned but you don’t see anything if that makes sense. Good book can’t wait for the next one.

Loni (Avalon) and Adrian.
I like what Carin Hart does and liked the school-bully-turned-lover-turned-(lite)stalker-turned-“I murdered your husband to be on the day of your wedding because I was also supposed to be married to you”. So that’s a fun and flirty time.

Secret society

Wow! Adrian and Loni's story was crazy. I mean he was her high school bully turned secret boyfriend. Then she's almost exiled from the Order. But then she's brought back to marry him. If killing for you doesn't say I love you then I don't know what does.

I really wanted to love this story but it just didn't keep my attention. There seemed to be a lag about 75% in for me. I connected with the characters at the beginning then they just fizzled out. Its a bummer cause the storyline had a lot of potential.

I started out, loving this book so very much the premise of a girl getting married, and having her fiancé shot at the wedding from her ex lover was very intriguing. However, the society part of the book was a little drawn out, but I did enjoy the characters overall and I did enjoy the story

So many silly spelling mistakes that really ruined the read. Found it a bit slow, and too long monologues. Ending picked up a bit.
