据说，这本是綾辻行人面向少年读者的作品，所以人物设定为小学生，推理难度也大幅减低。在阅读的过程中，我觉得这本书是平平无奇的小说，直到最！后！一！页！（有The Shining的既视感）
This was written for younger readers, so the cast is younger and the mystery is simpler.
It feels ordinary… until the very last page.

私が手に取った「講談社ミステリーランド」シリーズは、これで４作目。
一応、子供向けに書かれてるんだろうに、神様ゲームほどではないけれど、これも後味が微妙に悪い。
また、江戸川乱歩の少年探偵団シリーズと同じような湿度を感じるのは、日本のミステリだからか？
話としては、「建築家中村青司」(著者の「館」シリーズに出てくる建築家？？)が建てた、「びっくり館」で起きる出来事を、主人公が回想する形で語る。
不気味なお屋敷、病弱な少年、エキセントリックな老人…とホラーな要素はありつつも、「密室」の謎もちゃんと描かれていて、まぁ面白いっちゃ面白い。(が、子供向けだからか、わかりやすい「どんでん返し」だったが)
でも、とか…ヘビーすぎないか。気持ち悪すぎないか。
まぁ、一応びっくりしたシーンもあったし、そこそこ面白かったので星３つ。

IT's a nicely crafted thriller/detective novel, but it doesn't stand anywhere close to Ayatsuji's grander works.
But when I wrote my fanfics, I still found myself memorizing the different scenes from this book.
