Two strangers, one city, four days, one night, one lie and a fantastic journey. 'When We Clicked' is my twisted love story. I am Akhil Parlekar, a Mumbaikar in my early twenties. Like every other Mumbaikar I love my city, consider Sachin Tendulkar a God fantasize about Katrina Kaif, but I am about to die. Before I was dying, I lived my life in four days, when we clicked. It was love at first sight for me, but not for her. I spent the four days with her wandering in the city, thinking that she would fall in love with me, but the night that followed the fourth day, changed everything. This journey is about emotions like humour, lust, hatred, betrayal, heroism, friendship and the biggest emotion of them all; love. I am letting you in my heart as well as my brain, you be the judge if this is a love story or not. 'You are the protagonist of your life's story, the central character around which all the other characters and incidents occur. When the protagonist of your story changes to someone else, you are in love. That person becomes the central character of your story and everything else revolves around the person you love.'
Nice Book better than many renowned books. I would love to read more of such Interesting stories with much more visual effects in background Curiosity in mind, Thrilling and many more surprising twists :) Eagerly waiting for the next one from you soon Mr. Yash
The first rom-com I ever read. It was absolutely amazing!! Loved everything about the book. The characters, the storyline, writing style, everything is amazing!
‘When We Clicked – A twisted love story?’ is the debut work of Yash Pawaskar. This author has got some wonderful story telling skills and the way he has presented the whole plot makes it a show stopper.
The cover looks bright with red all around it. After giving it a close look the readers will find there are few scenes from the story fitted as a puzzle inside a heart and I have found this concept interesting. While reading the book, I kept on checking the cover to see which scene I have already read and which are about to come. The name is not that unfamiliar and gives a feeling that this is going to be another chick-lit novel. The question mark at the end of the title is tempting though. As far the story is concerned the name fits for this story and the tag line too.
The story starts with Akhil (the main protagonist) reciting his life’s last four days, which he claims to be his life’s most sparkling days, spent with a girl named Tamanna. He bumps into her in the Mumbai Airport and ends up introducing himself as a travel agent after knowing that she is here to explore Mumbai. The story goes around Akhil and Tamanna going to various tourist spots and exploring Mumbai. But when the readers have started anticipating the end after completing maximum of the book, there comes the twist which will lead the audience to such an end which they can never expect for a story like this.
The story line was ordinary but which makes this book special is the authors command over the language and his unimaginable sense of humor. From the very first half the author had shown that this book is going to be an interesting journey because of his witty conversing style. Sometimes it was funny scenes, sometimes it was the one liners or sometimes the name of the scenes which made me laugh out really loud. There are authors who can bring smile, but there are very few authors who can bring out laughter from his readers and Yash is definitely one of second group. The narrating style, the Light- Camera-Action style, the stereotyping style, everything was so fresh that it came like a cool breeze. It is definitely a light read but it is one of the best I have read in recent times.
I would have rated this book a bit more if the end was different. The author has presented the book wonderfully to the readers from the very beginning and there were no loop holes in the story but the end was not what was expected from the author. To create the trill the author lost the charm of the book. The end lacked the most important thing that was entertaining them throughout the story, the witty humor of the author. A bit editing errors are also spotted.
Final Words: This is such a book which can change your mood and you will laugh even after closing the book recollecting the scenes. The author has proved, it’s the presentation which matters. A perfect entertainer.
The red-coloured cover is attractive enough to gain attention of any love-story reader. Also, the title and the subtitle can made readers’ mind loiter in different directions in order to guess the story.Along with these two catchy elements of the book, here waits another thing for you-the blurb. After reading the blurb, I’m sure no love- story reader could back off.It very precisely speaks of the content leaving a proper amount of suspense giving meaningful details of the protagonist’s life.
In the prologue itself story clutched my hands.I couldn’t realize when I kept on turning pages and it came to an end.The sudden change of events at the end surprised me.I had never thought that the story would end like this. The way author has moulded this story in a suspensful fashion, leaving reader guess how to relate the story with the prologue and comes to an end, makes thestory intriguing and engaging. I enjoyed the repartee done between protagonist and non-living things. They worked as a mood-refreshners and make this book more entertaining adding humorous conversations.Poems amalgamated in the story added a great charm to this book.Poems help this book to reach a level up.Prior to the story they are laid down and they festoon the story with its simplicity.
A simple and interactive writing fashion has been adopted by the author.Readers would feel comfortable with the writing style after initial few chapters.Less number of characters makes this story simple and the characterization is also done very well.Albeit the story broadcasts five days of protagonist’s life, but the way author has stitched several events made it interesting to go with in a smooth flow.
Talking about the dawnfalls of the books-there is no such bigger downfall of the book. From the storyline to the narration style, from prompt description to the blend of various flavour, author has maintained everything very-well.The only downfall I could see is-some printing mistakes here and there and some other small errors which couldn’t be reflected if proof-reading could be done well. Also, articulation of sentences could be a bit well.
All in all, a wonderful reading journey and yes, I was completely glued to the story till the end enjoying each and every moment author has described.Kudos to the author for this fantabulous work.Eagerly waiting to read more of him.
Love-story readers go and grab this book asap. This book could lead you to the fantastic world of Akhil and it holds the power to swing your mood to a whole new level.
It happens pretty rarely with me, that I feel thoroughly glued with the story. I want to congratulate Yash Pawaskar for this wonderful book and wonderful storyline.
Talking about the first look, I would say that the book cover and the blurb are itself very catchy and relevant with the storyline. Title seems to be strange because of the question mark (?) but believe me, that’s the whole essence of the book.
Now the writing style. Author is pretty humorous with his writing and with humour, he also knows that he is not allowed to get distracted from the main story and that’s what he did. I loved the Disclaimer which says that ‘read the book if you have good sense of humour and do not expect that you will get enlightened in the literary way after reading this book.’
Yes, it is a love story and do talk about the ‘love’ but what makes this book different from other boring ‘love stories’ is it’s way of writing, humour and the epic finale ( which changes the whole story for a moment).
Now talking about some distinguished parts which I loved a lot. Firstly the protagonist’s dreams. They were horribly funny and entertaining. Another thing is the conversation of Akhil with non-living things like his mobile, hanger, shirt, mirror etc.
The only thing which I felt a bit awkward was the quick end. This book is having an exceptional finale in it which is totally unexpected throughout the read. So according to me, when we give such immense turn while story-telling, we have to give the reader a proper time to absorb it and that’s where I felt the book was lagging. Otherwise it’s a perfect read. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
This story about Akhil’s love for Tamanna made me laugh, cry, smile, frown and laugh again. This book took me on an amazing roller coaster ride and I enjoyed the ups and downs thoroughly. Having read love stories by foreign authors, this book gave me a local feel and struck a chord with me in a different and a pleasant way. The unexpected poems were awesome and the blog-like narration in between was simply hilarious. Some lines were extremely philosophical and made me ponder. Liked reading this light hearted twisted tale of love, looking for more books from this promising debut writer.
When We Clicked by Yash. It’s a great effort by a budding author. Sure, it’s a love story and it has the elements of a love story, but the characterization and tempo are done with a simplicity and authenticity that gets to you. You genuinely want to know what happens to Akhil and whether or not his love is returned. I agree though that the editing could have been better. The poems and the shayari are a delight to read – it connects with your emotions. In all, I would say, we have a new author in the ring with his own unique style; look out for his books.
The book shelves are overflowing with love stories these days. Thankfully, When We Clicked takes the hatke route and manages to covey the age-old concept of love in a modern manner. The book starts slowly but picks up pace to reach a point where it is impossible to put the book down. The story is fresh and the dialogues are outstanding. The soulful poems are an added bonus. This ‘twisted’ love story is a must-read for the fans of the genre.
Never knew love stories could be this quirky. When We Clicked is a brilliant effort by the debut writer, it was successful in evoking in me several emotions and I could easily connect with the lead character. The unpredictable storyline and the humorous narration make this book compelling and enjoyable. As mentioned on the back cover, this story not only lets you in the main character’s heart but also in his brain.
Loved the concept and the characterization. Although I am a Mumbaikar, this book made me see Mumbai from a different perspective. This book strikes the right balance between philosophy, humour, one-liners and a compelling story. Kudos to the writer for choosing a different style of writing. Enjoyed every page of it, now, reading it again.
I am not much of a reader but this book’s synopsis made me pick this book up. After reading it, I can say that I am glad that I picked this book otherwise I would have missed on an unconventional story. Although it’s a love story, the treatment is exceptional and appealing. Go for it if you like fast paced, humorous, love stories.
Let's all admit, creativity today is clouded by superficialities like money and fame. Debut novels if i must say, have become clichéd and predictable. Amongst all the noise and uproar created by aspiring writers and debutants, comes Yash Pawaskar's gentle yet arresting voice - When We Clicked. Congratulations, on breaking through the conventional.
An unusual love story with few share of twist and turns in the main protagonists life makes it interesting to read..it will surely get you clicked...:)
