Despite a nine-year effort to destroy him, President Donald J. Trump succeeded in a historic comeback victory in the 2024 presidential election. This was Trump’s Triumph. Winning the popular and electoral votes, President Trump became the first president to be nonconsecutively re-elected since President Grover Cleveland.
This all happened because President Trump was never a typical political candidate. He is the leader of a movement, which he recognized in the American people. To be President Trump did not invent the Make America Great Again movement, he intuited it.
Meanwhile, elites in media, academia, government, and politics learned a big Americans no longer trust them. President Trump assembled a massive coalition of Americans from all backgrounds who were tired of being told what to do, say, and believe. He made historic in-roads with voter groups which have not traditionally voted for Republicans. President Trump survived court cases, impeachments, outright lies – and two assassination attempts. All the while, the elites described a future which every day Americans did not want.
The Joe Biden-Kamala Harris (and later Harris-Tim Walz) tickets represented three failures through which the American people were actively high inflation, a full-blown immigration crisis, and a prevailing elite ideology which they found at best confusing and at worst insane.
Trump’s Triumph puts all this into context, explains how President Trump overcame it all, and describes the future of the Make America Great Again movement.
Newt Gingrich is well-known as the architect of the “Contract with America” that led the Republican Party to victory in 1994 by capturing the majority in the U.S. House of Representatives for the first time in forty years. After he was elected Speaker, he disrupted the status quo by moving power out of Washington and back to the American people. Under his leadership, Congress passed welfare reform, the first balanced budget in a generation, and the first tax cut in sixteen years. In addition, the Congress restored funding to strengthen defense and intelligence capabilities, an action later lauded by the bipartisan 9/11 Commission.
Today Newt Gingrich is a Fox News contributor. He is a Senior Advisor at Dentons, the world’s largest law firm with more than 6,500 lawyers in 50 countries and offices in more than 125 cities. He advises the firm’s world-class Public Policy and Regulation practice. He is also a Senior Scientist at Gallup.
From May 2011 to May 2012, Newt Gingrich was a candidate for the Republican nomination for President of the United States, winning the South Carolina and the Georgia primaries. The campaign was especially notable for its innovative policy agenda, its effort to bring new coalitions into the Republican fold, and for Newt’s debate performances. His $2.50 a gallon energy plan set off a nationwide discussion about the use of America’s energy resources. But there is a lot more to Newt Gingrich than these remarkable achievements. The title given to this book is not really what the book is about. I thought it was going to be more about Trump. How he triumph in politics. It was more about Gingrich’s triumph. Jerry talks about Trump basically the first and the last chapter. Somewhat disappointed in this book.
The intentionally provocative title may cause Americans with liberal leanings to groan out loud and swear to never crack the cover but I’d urge them to overcome the inclination and give the book a chance. Gingrich expertly presents facts with minimal opinions in a moderate, fair, and optimistic manner. There are three main portions in the book and each is a well done editorial that would fascinate anyone with an interest in politics regardless of their side of the aisle.
Part 1: Contains a detailed run through of the 2024 election and the forces culminating in “Trump’s Triumph”. Those of us who carefully followed the news cycle last November are not likely to learn a significant amount but in the future it would be a valuable reminder or crash course on a historic election.
Part 2: Composed of a comprehensive discussion of key issues facing the American Voter, Gingrich explains the high points of each topic (ie. Immigration, health care, education etc) and shares relevant US history, legal considerations, and philosophies that would contribute to resolving the problem or offers his own solutions.
Part 3: A beginner’s guide on how to win an election that is clearly born from extensive experience in politics. Anyone desiring a position in local office would also benefit from the strategies presented in this portion.
MAGA: Trump beats incredible odds in 2024 presidential race
This is an excellent review of Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign and the historic political comeback authored by one of the most experienced politicians, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. This is a fair, balanced and no-nonsense approach to a book that is extremely readable. Donald Trump overcame years of legal battles, impeachment attempts, media opposition, and political marginalization to reclaim the presidency. There were countless lawsuits designed to drain President Trump's assets, time, his business, and potentially put him in jail. There were two assassination attempts-one of which President Trump survived only through providential intervention. The establishment used every deceitful and disgusting tool available to crush and drive him out of public life. They feared him as a mortal threat to their careers and self-identities. Despite all these distractions Donald Trump connected with American people and won their confidence leading to a landslide victory.
The 2024 presidential also saw some of the strangest things for democrats. With just 107 days left in the campaign, Jo Biden was found to be mentally incapable of running for the presidency and the campaign was given to the Vice President Kamala Harris. In the shortest presidential campaign, Harris raised $1.5 billion, about $100 million a week for 15 weeks. But the campaign spent slightly more than that. Harris's team spent twice as much as President Trump's in the closing days of the campaign. It also had the enormous benefit of continuously biased media coverage. Despite all the advantages of the establishment news media, the huge funds pouring in, and the still significant labor union and special interest group machines, Harris lost. She may have been the worst candidate in modern times. The idea that someone who was ideologically out of step with most Americans, and utterly incompetent could win against someone who took endless questions, openly campaigned, earned the support of millions of Americans created a real sense of anxiety for the democrats and the fake news media. Millions of Americans understood that a Harris victory would mean the end of the American system of hard work and merit. The hardest things for the media to come to grips with was the reality that President Donald Trump's appeal to millions of Americans came from issues and policies rather than personality, and party affiliation. Gingrich portrays democrats failing on key issues like inflation, immigration, foreign policy, economy, law, and order, and woke ideology.
The final section of the book discusses as how Trump administration looks ahead on issues like affordable living, education, immigration, healthcare, defense, Artificial Intelligence, and space technology. Regarding immigration reforms, author Gingrich supports a path to citizenship for the diligent, motivated, law-abiding Dreamers. This is an important measure to safeguard the intellectual superiority of the American system. The corporations and the higher educational institutions must have the right to select the best candidates to make progress in various fields like science, technology, engineering, agriculture, space technology, and other fields.
I wish Newt Gingrich would have named this book anything BUT “Trump’s Triumph”. There are 2 reasons for my opinion: 1) most of the book has almost nothing to do with Trump, and 2) moderate Democrats and Independents who would greatly benefit from the many practical, centrist policies Gingrich presents here will simply avoid this important book due to their Trump Derangement Syndrome. That said, Mr. Gingrich does start his newest book with an astute assessment of the 2024 presidential campaign. I enjoyed Newt’s fact based, unemotional analysis of how each party managed and/or miscalculated parts of their election strategies. After Mr. Gingrich finishes dissecting 2024, the bulk of this book details all the key issues facing America today: affordable living, education, immigration, healthcare, national defense, artificial intelligence, even space exploration. Mr. Gingrich takes each of these topics (and a few more) and delves deeply into them with meaty chapters filled with facts which include: hard numbers, data and statistical analysis; respected opinion polls; real world examples of successes and failures; and finally wizened historical perspectives. In short, this is really a book that outlines policy proposals verses political opinions. I listened to the audiobook version, but would instead recommend a book or electronic edition version because there are lots of important ideas you will want to underline and highlight for future reference. As the architect of the widely successful “Contract With America” in the 1990’s, Newt Gingrich has an astonishing, inspiring and well documented ability to talk to both sides of the proverbial “aisle” with the type of respect and logical persuasion that creates winning policy for all Americans.
This story captivated me from the beginning with its beautiful prose and intriguing characters. The plot unfolded with skillful pacing, keeping me engaged until the very last page. I found the themes explored within the narrative to be both thought-provoking and relevant. The author's descriptive language painted vivid pictures in my mind, making the world come alive. This is a book I will recommend to others and revisit myself in the future.
As others have pointed out, the title is misleading. I expected an analysis of the campaign, something along the lines of a Republican version of "Fight", or "Original Sin". All that is glossed over in the first two chapters. Gingrich doesn't even mention the "Harris is for they / them" ad.
Instead there's Gingrich's own take on issues any president would face in the next decade. To his credit he is imaginative and forward looking. While I am not otherwise a reader of Gingrich, I have to imagine that this is all material he has hashed out previously. There are also a lot of references to Musk that haven’t aged well.
Elsewhere, lots of sentences that start with "Callista and I ...". The title should have been "Newt's Noodlings", or some such.
4.5+ stars. Newt has a unique ability to combine politics, our Constitution, leadership, history, military history, organizational management, and strategic planning into a coherent and coordinated vision for America. Here he describes Trump’s career, the meaning of the 2024 election, and offers policy recommendations to cement Trump’s legacy. He compares and contrasts what Trump (on one side) and democrats (on the other) are doing right now as it relates to that vision. As always Newt supports his argument with a historical perspective. This book is upbeat and positive about our future.
Good information and great history. Newt tends to toot his own horn a bit, but in general the information was good, well-researched and in most cases spot on. Newt offers insight and his opinions on various subjects pertaining to strengthening our country and addressing concerns about healthcare, education, world affairs, etc. Highly recommend this book to anyone.
Gingrich takes a hard look at what Trump has managed to pull off in the greater scheme of politics and history and sees a relative success that most politicians and certainly the entire media refuse to admit, or for that matter even consider. I suspect history may come around to eventually admit this blunder by contemporaries.
Was a little surprised that Newts book veers away from Trumps Triumph and goes down a path of many current topics that while interesting was not the reason I purchased this book to listen to. Prior to this switch there was interesting commentary about how Trump archived being elected a second time as well as the many shortcomings of the democratic ticket.
Don’t get me wrong, this is a good book. However, the title is misleading. I excepted to hear ideas of how how Trump won two historic elections. Instead it was Newt Gingrich’s future for America. Just be aware before buying.
Excellent analysis of Trump's presidential victory. Newt Gingrich provides historical insight into the victory and beyond the victory. Lot's of information that's not readily available from newspapers, magazines and television coverage. Highly recommend!
Good read, mid way through the book; Speaker Gingrich seems to write more about his goals and approaches than the President’s. His affection for the President is clear and overall it’s a powerful endorsement of the President’s comeback. Worth a read.
It is like Newt was writing a policy book, and then Trump won the election. So, Newt threw in some stuff about Trump to sell more books. I like Newt, but this felt like a bait and switch.
I liked it, but I wish it focused more on Trump and his mission but most of it was just history of America. I feel as though the title was misleading in a way.
