Enjoy this year's mix of never-before-published short stories and poems from today's up-and-coming genre writers. This collection is sure to leave readers entertained, terrified, laughing, and crying. From the seductive to the horrifying, sometimes in the same story, these stories run the spectrum of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy. Sit back, turn the lights low, grab your favorite beverage, and enter into Sley House. If you dare.
Favorites were: The Licker by Eric Raglin Ghost in the Gas Station Bathroom by Rebecca Cuthbert Full Immersion by Tiffany Michelle Brown Rent One, Get One FREE by Rachel Searcey Disciples of Broken Bones and Rotted Teeth by Michael Bettendorf Apocalypse Francais by Michael Craigwell (my favorite of the favorites)
Full disclosure: My weird sci fi horror story is in this, towards the end, "Rent One, Get One FREE"
I read this almost in one go. Sometimes in an anthology with such a variety of horror genres, I'll skip some because they are not to my liking, but I really enjoyed all of them.
There is something here for everybody: beautiful poetry, flash fic, dark SFF, and some straight up old fashioned horror stories.
Some of them were really gross. The Licker and Slick were the two that made me throw up in my mouth a little. Maybe Junji Ito will adapt these ones someday?
My Dog's Ghost Story was another favorite. Some of my favorite authors/people are here too, Rebecca Cuthbert and Angela Silvaine with a gorgeous poems, and Emma E Murray with a tragic tale of a toxic relationship in Clipped Wings.
I think if you're looking for some new authors, Tales of Sley House is a great collection with a wide variety of stories that will push your buttons.
