A young girl is violated in the worst way. Instead of sympathy, compassion and support, she is thrown away to ravenous wolves by the very ones who should have protected and adored her. Instead, of praise she is labeled as trash. Wounded beyond repair, she went from one person to another looking for love in the arms of every man who expressed interest in her and believing the lies that they told her. Each time hoping he would be the answer to her prayers. That is until she encountered Tank, a man who promised her the world and ended up being the worst in a long line of abusers. Tank evoked a fear in Keedy so strong, it often rendered her immobile, as he sought his thrills in throwing his weight around, always trying to come up with worse ways to inflict pain on this sweet young lady.
Mayhem is a man on the run from a violent past knowing he’s living on borrowed time. There is so little he has to live for and doesn’t fear dying, but the love he has for his child, makes him go in hiding to protect her from the aftermath of his choices. Hooking up with a guy he knew from back in the day seemed like the ideal situation as it gave him a place to lay his head and a moment to chart his next course. But Tank and Mayhem were two very different types of men. Mayhem did what he had to do to survive, Tank preyed on the weak and would sell his soul for a come up. Then trouble hit and Mayhem found himself having to watch his back from every angle.
They say that love comes when you least expect it and not always at an opportune time. Two unlikely souls found each other and though the love they shared went against all the rules, it was not to be denied. Loving him was a gamble with so much at risk, but she had nothing to lose. Against all odds, they paired up vowing to give their love all they had for whatever amount of time the fates would allow.
Til My Casket Drops is a deeply emotional read that fuses the truth of street life with the love that can exist between two people. Cash brilliantly paints a complete picture of a girl who never had a chance, showing how one incident can lead to many false attempts aimed at finding the real thing. Someone others would have written off as trash, he beautifully shows her multi-faceted person and we love her. Mayhem is not a bad person, he’s just a person with a past and whose tender heart captured this reader and wouldn’t let go. Not everyone who does bad things is a bad person, sometimes they just don’t know how to get out of the life they’ve been handed and find a better way. I felt a whole range of emotions with this story and had tears pouring down my face by the end of it. Long after I’d finished the story, it’s many messages continued to stay with me. I am limited to a 5 star rating, but would give it so much more if I could.
