Small Town, Protective Hero, Romantic Suspense

Valentin Vachon, former Navy SEAL, loves women but is allergic to commitment. Trained and highly effective in extraction operations, he left the military when the Navy decided he should be a training instructor for fresh recruits to the BUD/S program. With no patience for wet-behind-the-ears kids, he opts out of the military and joins his old friend Remy as a mercenary and then as part of a team of Brotherhood Protectors in the Louisiana bayous. His determination to avoid kids backfires when he’s assigned to secretly protect a schoolteacher.

Eighth grade science teacher, Ouida Mae “Miz Mo” Maudet, is the target of protests and strange threats at school. Between defending her curriculum and protecting her students, she struggles to determine the source of the threats and remain safe in her work environment until a gruff, new teacher comes to her rescue.

Valentin’s undercover persona as a P.E. teacher to non-athletic eighth graders is more of a challenge than facing rabid, drug-running guerilla fighters in the jungles of South America. Even more challenging is his unwarranted attraction to the feisty science teacher he’s been sent to protect.

As threats increase and protests become more violent, Valentin is forced to go 24/7 with the beautiful Miz Mo and fights to keep her safe while struggling against his growing desire for the teacher, edging ever closer to that cursed C-word...commitment.

Valentin by Elle James
Bayou Brotherhood Protector series #6. Romantic suspense. Can be read as a stand-alone but this story has all previous couples included as secondary characters.
When a break-in occurs at the local junior high and threats are left behind in red paint, the Brotherhood Protectors help restore the room and put a couple of men in the school to protect the teacher. Valentin Vachon, former Navy SEAL, is instantly smitten with Ouida Mae Maudet and even though his cover is PE teacher, he spends all his time outside of classes with Ouida Mae.

Their mutual attraction is hot, fast and steamy. The Bayou has all the small town feels with all the prior members of this team pulled in to help the school and support while a young student on her own get help from Ouida Mae as well. The made family is twofold here with the Brotherhood and then Ouida Mae and Valentin acting as pseudo parents to a teen on her own.
Fast action, high spice, supportive friends and new family.
A quick afternoon romantic suspense read with a guaranteed hea.

Valentin never in his wildest dream expected to be a PE and Art Teacher as an assignment. Having no clue about kids and patience. So who would have thought Valentin is exactly what these kids need. His ideas bring a change no one has expected. Between the kids, a science teacher and the bad guts, his life changes fast.
I love this story and would have loved teachers like Valentin and Miz Mo.

I recently finished reading "Valentin" by Elle James, and I am thrilled to give this captivating novel a well-deserved 5-star rating! From the very first page, the story grabs your attention with its blend of suspense, passion, and action.

Elle James masterfully crafts her characters, particularly Valentin, whose depth and complexity make him an unforgettable protagonist. His chemistry with the female lead is electric, and their relationship unfolds with just the right mix of tension and romance that keeps you rooting for them.

The plot is engaging and well-paced, keeping you on the edge of your seat with unexpected twists and turns. James’s ability to blend thrilling action sequences with intense emotional moments is truly remarkable. The settings are vividly described, immersing you fully into the world she creates.

One of the aspects I appreciated the most was the balance between character development and action. Each character is well-developed, drawing you into their individual stories and struggles, making the stakes feel incredibly real.

Overall, "Valentin" is a standout read that showcases Elle James at her best. Whether you're a fan of romantic suspense or just looking for a book that will keep you entertained from start to finish, "Valentin" is a fantastic choice. Highly recommend it for a thrilling literary escape!

This story may well be my favourite!! Valentin and Ouida Mae’s story snatched me up and took me on one heck of a memorable roller coaster ride.

I adored catching up with previous characters. There’s nothing like meeting with old friends again and finding out where their lives are. It’s so heartwarming to find them so happy and content and more in love than ever.

I just adore Valentin. He’s a total alpha male, a protector with a heart of gold. He’s kind and thoughtful, caring and empathetic, not to mention the body that would make a nun swoon!!

Ouida Mae is one of those beautiful souls that brings light and warmth to anyone in her vicinity. The way she cares for everyone is so beautiful to watch.

Watching Valentin and Ouida manoeuvre their way through the troubled waters and find their way to their very own happy ever after was so utterly beautiful and compelling.

The addition of the side characters was perfect. They brought a special something to the story, an added depth that enhanced an already perfect story.

If there was ever two people perfect t for each other it’s Valentin and Ouida Mae. Elle James truly outdid herself with this story, and she was already spectacular to begin with.

An unmissable story that will take up permanent residence in your heart with very little effort.

50 million star review. Can’t recommend highly enough.

This reader has enjoyed all the stories in this series but this one is one of my favorite up to date.
Valentin Vachon is a former Navy SEAL that has found his place with the Bayou Brotherhood Protectors after following his good friend Remy from a mercenary to a protector. Especially after leaving the Navy when his only option was not the action but rather as an instructor.
When middle school science and health education teacher, Ouida Mae/Mis Mo Maudet is targeted for her teachings and her room is ransacked, Valentin goes undercover as a PE teacher. The irony of it doesn’t elude Valentin. Until now he was a man “allergic” to kids and has little patience with them.
He’s also a man that for the first time sees a future with Ouida .
But first, the culprit and mystery of the assault and damage to the classroom has to be unraveled.
As feelings between these two deepen, a teenage girl finds herself in a precarious situation and living on her own.
The story is filled with action, whodunit, bad guys, good looking ones, a girl in distress, and of course romance.
Kudos to the author for highlighting the need of health education in the schools.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

The book was okay. It was an easy and quick read.

But there were so many things that I questioned. Valentin was taped to be a PE teacher. I thought it took both a college education and a teacher's license to teach in junior high. Even with a college education it takes more than overnight to get a temporary license. Been there, done that.

Fifteen year olds are not as dumb as they are painted in this book. I have 14 and 16 year old grandchildren. They are not stupid.

Ouida Mae tells the bad guy he is in trouble. Even more so if Mr. Jones dies. Yet, a few chapters earlier Mr. Jones was fine and was recovering at home. Being a small town, the bad guy had to have known that. Yet, the bad guy just sits on the concrete telling everyone, everything he knows. There is no law enforcement present. I would think he would want to be taken in to the station and offered a deal before telling everything he knows. That was just too convenient.

In the epilogue, Ouida Mae states that it had been 9 months since the bad guys were caught. Yet, Shelby's baby was 10 months old. The time frame is wrong in that Shelby had her baby on the day that the bad guys were caught. So, 9 or 10 months?

Everything just seemed a little too convenient throughout the book.

Oh my goodness, friends! You are in for such a treat with the Bayou Brotherhood Protectors series—it's an absolute treasure! Let me introduce you to the amazing Valentin, our delightful retired Navy SEAL who takes on the role of one of the protectors. He left the Navy because he wanted to avoid a boring desk job, and here’s the twist: he’s really trying to keep a bit of distance from kids since he’s convinced he doesn’t have the patience to connect with them or teach them anything. Can you believe it? He never imagined that he’d end up as a PE and art teacher! How incredible is that for stepping out of your comfort zone?

But hold on—here comes the best part! It turns out that Valentin is just what these kids have been craving in their lives! His fresh, innovative ideas create such amazing changes that it’s like a refreshing breeze blowing through! As he embarks on this new journey with the kids, teaming up with a science teacher and dealing with some not-so-great characters, everything starts to transform in the most thrilling ways.

I am absolutely head over heels for this story! Seriously, who wouldn’t want teachers like Valentin and Miz Mo? They’re just the best!

Former Navy SEAL and merc, current Bayou Brotherhood Protector, Valentin, goes undercover as a PE teacher to keep an eye on a middle school, science/health ed teacher Ouida. Her classroom has been vandalized and she is possibly in danger . So this child "allergic " tough guy has to navigate the rough halls of education while trying to solve the growing mystery and danger surrounding Ouida. Lots of story threads in this story- health education, teenage pregnancy, alligators, drug trafficking, drug cartel baddies, budding romance and of course, (allegedly) evil PTA moms:) The book, as well as the other in the Brotherhood Protectors series, is well written and fun to read. It was my pleasure to leave a review. I will point out one interesting part (neither bad nor good)at the end of the book . The epilogue goes a little out of the way to explain the storyline, going over each "event" that happened and kind of wrapping them up with a bow. Again, not bad or good, just somewhat redundantly thorough.

Action packed in the bayou.

This was a quick, enjoyable, action packed story. The first chapter will draw you in. Valentin is waiting for his first assignment in the Bayou Brotherhood series. Ouida Mae is a junior high science teacher who helps her student Sophie after school. Ouida Mae steps out of the room to get something for Sophie when upon returning she hears noises from her classroom. Sophie grabs her and they hide as someone is trashing Ouida Mae’s classroom.

The Bayou Brotherhood comes onboard in watching Ouida Mae and the school plus a full clean up and repaint of the classroom. Valentin is taking the spot of the PE teacher to be at the school with Ouida Mae. Sophie comes to Ouida Mae one night and confesses she left home over a month ago and was living in a deserted shack. Oh let’s add another surprise - fifteen year old Sophie is pregnant.

Lots of previous members of the Brotherhood make appearances in the book.

"The dreaded C word..... commitment"

Ouida Mae has the biggest heart and it calls to every cell of Valentin's body, it makes him crave something he thought he never wanted.....family and commitment. But he embraces these new feelings with the same determination he does every mission he undertakes.
I love how open they both are with their love for the students, the hope they give, the life skills they teach and the extra step they take for those students who need them. They are not only protecting in the current day, but are shaping the future generations and teaching the importance of team work and of passing on skills and knowledge. This is a really beautiful addition to the Brotherhood Protectors World and really digs into the heart of the Brotherhood Protectors and everything they stand for. Fantastic!

Another brilliant read in this series This time we get the story of Valentin Vachon a member of the Bayou Brotherhood and Ouida Mae “Miz Mo” Maudet a local junior high school science teacher

Miz Mo needs help when her classroom is vandalised everything points to the fact that it is related to her teaching of sex education to her classes but is there more going on than anyone realises Valentin has no time for young wet behind the ear students that's why he walked away when he was offered a training job at Buds for Navy Seals so imagine his horror when he is placed as the new PE teacher so he cn protect Miz Mo. Soon he is not only falling for the teacher but he is transforming the lives of his students Can they solve what is really going on and can he finally have a future to look forward to You will have to read to see

This was a quick read as Elle James returns us to the fascinating Bayou and its residents. A very predictable story as it unfolds. Not as much suspense as I would have liked but didn’t detract from the story. Valentin and Ouida Mae “Miz Mo” set a great example for their junior high students as they fight to do the right thing within the community despite the consequences. They take us on an adventure that includes a bit of action and sweet romance. Valentin is tasked to go in as a bodyguard for the teacher, Quida, while acting as the new substitute PE teacher. He ends up teaching the students in his classes to work as a team, learn self defense, chemistry, and finding a family he thought he would never want. The epilogue was nice to see how everyone got their HEA and a dip in to their future plans. 3-1/2 ⭐️ rounded up 4.

a wild ride through the bayou

What a story! This was such an original plot I was blown away. I’m not giving too many spoilers, but wow. A junior high science teacher, Ouida Mae, is planning to teach sex education. Someone breaks into her classroom and trashes it, and attacks a janitor. The message on the wall reads that someone is against her curriculum. The Brotherhood Protectors step in. Valentin subs as the PE teacher, and Landry as the janitor.

With subjects of sex education, bullying, teenage pregnancy, drug running, parental neglect and abuse, and OTT “Karen’s” of the PTA this was roller coaster of a journey. There was a twist to the female character who ends up in the clutches of the bad guys. And she kicks a$$ and pretty much saves herself!

The ending was perfect and I swear you HAVE to read this one! 18/10 recommend!!!

Upset is the mildest word to describe science teacher, Ouida Mae “Miz Mo” Maudet after a masked man threw a brick in her classroom window barely missing a malnourished tee. Ouida Mae was getting food for. Student and teacher hid out of the line of fire as the room was trashed, threats written on the wall, Noting the janitor enter the room, Ouida Mae rushes to help but he was severely injured as the culprit escaped Valentin Vachon doesn’t want the assignment to be a substitute PE teacher and guard Ouida Mae, until he sees her!

As a Valentin and Ouida Mae easily begin a romance, a student comes to Ouida Mae for help and a local politician’s wife causes an uproar over sex education classes for young and impressionable junior high students. Also, the team is no closer to finding out who trashed the classroom and hurt the janitor.

Love all the men who don't seem to want a commitment, but when they meet the right one, they are all in. Valentin is tagged to take over a PE class so he can keep an eye on the teacher whose classroom was vandalized. What does he know about teenagers? He left the military because he didn't want to train recruits. When he meets the teacher, he is supposed to protect, he is shocked that she is a good looking and very sweet woman. Ouida Mae teaches science, and she loves her students. They love her. When a young girl comes to her with a problem, Ouida Mae will do everything in her power to help her. Then when danger comes to call, Valentin and Ouida Mae work together to protect everyone. Could they have a life together? Valentin will do all he can to make it happen.

Page turner, suspense, romance, steam and some heart wrenching emotions with a HEA. Quida Mae aka Miz Mo is Science teacher at Jr High. That involves Darwinism and sex education. Just like in our world today people take offense, without even knowing what all it involves. Valentin is an ex SEAL with the Bayou Brotherhood and becomes a stand in for the gum teacher. Let me stress it is not all that cut and dry. There is so much awesome in this book, as well as heart ache and teenagers making mistakes as well as irresponsible parents, bullying and steam between the sheets. The HEA is spot on. Thank you for the advance copy. I freely volunteer my honest thoughts and opinions. #Valentin #BayouBrotherhoodProtectors #ElleJames #TwistedPageLLC #Bookfunnel

When Valentin is advised that rather than be part of adventurous assignments, he will train others to undertake them he decides to leave his career as a SEAL and join the Brotherhood Protectors. He now finds himself going undercover as a teacher, which is not something he would have chosen, however he can’t say the same for Ouida Mae.

Ouida Mae believes she is being targeted as not everyone agrees with what she has been teaching. Valentin has been sent to keep her safe from the escalating threats, but they find both the truth and love along the way.

Valentin and Ouida May set a great example for their students as they fight to do the right thing despite the consequences. They take us on an adventure that includes action and romance.

When Ouida starts receiving threats and is almost attacked while in school, her friends and BH protectors pull together to protect her and her students. Valentin is assigned to Ouida but she doesn’t know it, but she does know that he is part of BH and is helping out as a phys ed teacher. Luckily, Ouida is attracted to Valentin and vice versa which makes it easy to stay close to her. The threats are still around and so is Valentin but will it be enough to protect her.
A good read with some suspense, surprises, steam and great characters. I liked the no drama between them and the added extra surprise with one of her students that ended perfectly.

There were a couple of heavy topics in this book, but they didn't overwhelm the story. In fact, I found this book to be one of the most uplifting I have read in a while.

Valentin and Ouida did do the insta-love thing, but it fit into the storyline. They were both such positive influences on the students they encountered. I liked both of their characters. They exhibited kindness, patience, empathy, understanding, and concern for their friends, and students.

I found it both sad and frustrating when people failed to see and understand the negative consequences of their decisions until they are directly impacted. Often, it takes experiencing the consequences firsthand for people to fully understand the gravity of a situation.

This book kept me hooked from start to finish. The mystery, suspense, action, and danger made it hard to put down. I was fully immersed in the story and ended up reading it in a single sitting.

I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Rating: 4.5 Stars.

Another great book by a great author. This book starts off with “Miz Mo’s” classroom being broken into and the action and suspense keeps going from there. I loved Valentin and Ouida Mae’s story. They are very likeable characters. We got to see people from previous books in this series and catch up on how they’re doing. Ouida Mae (Miz Mo) is a science teacher, and she loves her students and they love her. She keeps a snake named “Houdini” in her classroom as the room’s mascot. I received an ARC of this book for an honest review, and I loved it. There’s lots of action, mystery, romance, love and humor. I recommend it to everyone.

As a team

Ouida Mae and Valentin. An unexpected crime and possible danger lead to a known but undercover protection gig at the high school. A student in need and a helicopter parent who was in denial about her child. All separate issues, but all connected and lead to a fast paced story that included the cartel, politics, child services, and a new family. Updates on the other couples and characters known in the town were spread throughout and Shelby finally had her baby! The sweetest part was the role Valentine’s PE students had in helping catch the bad person. A fun and easy read!

The Bayou team have a new mission, a vandalised school and one of the teachers appears to be the target.
Valentin is tasked as her bodyguard and PE teacher. He is instantly attracted to this science teacher and it's no hardship to spend time with her.
I enjoy this small town and its characters, a lot of who pop up during this story, though it does stand alone if you haven't read the previous books.
Such a great read with plenty of storyline and action towards the end. I highly recommend this series.

Back to the Bayou!

Valentin is a protector and he’s here to do a job. He just didn’t figure a classroom full of kids would be involved and that he would love working with them. He also didn’t plan on Ouida Mae. She’s beautiful, strong and his fellow teacher is quickly working her way into his heart. But she’s in danger and so is one of her students. He will move mountains to protect them both.

I received a free copy of the steamy romantic suspense Valentin: Bayou Brotherhood Protectors: Book Six by Elle James and this review was given freely.

I loved the moments of humor and victory; the sweet moments of handholding; the inclusion/ love Ouida Mae had for Sophie; how Valentin related to the teens in an unexpected way, but got the job done; and the way Valentin changed from a single alpha protector to a loving family man.

An awesome realistic story. I love the story and the series. Valentin is working for the Bayou Brotherhood Protectors. Ouida Mae/Miz Mo is a science teacher at a Junior HIgh School and her room is destroyed and threatening messages left. Valentin is sent in as a PE teacher to keep an eye on things. Who is behind the destruction? Suspense, hope and very realistic story line. I read an arc of this book and this is my review.

Bayou Brotherhood Protectors is a great series, Valentin is a retired Navy Seal that is now part of the protectors. He tries to keep away from kids because he doesn’t think he has any patience to teach them or to connect with them. When the science teacher is threatened, he is assigned to be a middle school PE teacher. This is a book that leads him on path that he never thought he would take. I highly recommend this book.

Delightful family!

This book surprised with the depth of community and family. Valentin, the uncommitted ex-military man, and the compassionate science teacher, Ms. Mo, had not planned to be a part of a family. They became part of a family and community after a series of decisions made by various people brought them together to ward off danger and led to greater danger. And greater community bonds.
