Mistlehoe is a sweet and naughty Christmas/holiday contemporary romance novella that follows Chris and Holly. Chris is Holly’s ex-boyfriend’s dad and boss. Unbeknownst to them, they meet on the Christmas-themed hook-up app, Mistlehoe, that allows them to indulge in all their naughty Christmas fetishes. Find out what happens when Candy aka Holly and Noel aka Chris find out who each other really are…
LISTEN, I expected sex, obviously. I didn’t expect to read a straight up porno. ☠️ Next level smut. A ton of typos, also. I expected something coy, a slow burn maybe? The title made me laugh so I jumped in. I actually fear I need a shower after this. If you want a book full of freaky Christmas sex fetishes, this is for you!
This book was….. interesting… The spice was SPICING, I mean it was basically porn. My main problem is there was no plot, no character building, and no story aside from smut. I know they claimed to fall in love but.. there was no way they could fall when they didn’t even talk. I did like the idea of the app it was a cool different way to include spice into the book, but other than that this plot was all over the place. Don’t get me started on the pet names he was calling her…. I’m ok with age gap books, but the pet names were KILLING ME!!!! Like ok we GET IT SHES YOUNG. Either way, this book was… okay?

I refuse to DNF a book but I really wanted to many times. Perhaps it's just due to my tastes and these scenes not matching up instead causing cringing. Along with the poor writing and editing I was just grateful it was over. I'm sorry I'm not a fan

ARC Review Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Tropes: Ex-Boyfriend’s Dad, Boss x Employee, Forbidden Love, Lots of Open Door 🌶️, Holiday Fun (and lots of it), Group Scenes, New Found Use for Candy Canes
This book is on Santa’s naughty list in all of the best ways!
This is one of the spiciest Christmas stories I have ever read and I loved every second of it!
Not only is Chris Holly’s boss, but Holly is Chris’ son’s ex-girlfriend, which could make things super awkward. Until they meet on an anonymous dating app for fulfilling all Christmas fantasies. The chemistry between them was palpable, and when that tension was cut, oh my god was it hot.
Also this book had one of the best epilogues I have ever read!!
This is Tori’s first book and it was incredible! I can’t wait to see more from her!
Who doesn’t love a story with a big age-gap and an ex’s dad!!! We also have a holiday hook-up app and two people who enjoy some spicy and adventurous times with others!! The spice in this book is fire! The story between Holly and Chris is cute too! I took a star away because it’s the first book I’ve read that the set up of it was very juvenile. The flow was odd with no acknowledgment of different chapters accept for a star symbol and maybe a new name for potentially different pov. I did get used to it but it definitely made me question if this was the authors first book written.
I had the absolute pleasure of reading Mistlehoe by Tori Woods! Here are my honest thoughts and opinions!
This book made me need to take a COLD 🥶 shower because it was HOT HOT HOT!🥵 Holly and Chris have absolutely amazing chemistry 🥰 even though Holly is not only Chris’ employee, but his son Cole’s Ex-girlfriend 🫣
If you enjoy: 🌲Age Gap Romance ❄️ Questionable uses of sweets 🌲 Forbidden Romance ❄️ Lots and LOTS of Open door spice 🌲 Group Scenes (two VERY hot ones) ❄️ Christmas vibes
Then this is definitely the book for you! A short, spicy, naughty but nice Christmas romance that is sure to have you begging for more 😉
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Ease of Reading: 📚📚📚📚📚
I liked the relationship between holly and nick. It was fun and playful. The names he called her were adorable
I was annoyed that the author chose to give holly such striking and unique features then tried to make it realistic when Nick didn’t recognize her with a simple mask on. They both studied each other continuously and couldn’t recognize each other’s voice or looks.
Also her ex boyfriend was so off putting. The cheese?? Really? Why did you date that toad girl?
E-book. 2.25 ⭐ The relationship is messy. So many times it's mentioned that Holly is tiny and childlike, Chris is fatherly, and Chris is Holly's ex-boyfriend's dad. The daddy issues are strong and weird.
The spice is messy. The main characters love to be sloppy and dirty. I was good with it until about halfway through the book, and then things went over the top.
The writing is messy. Many typos, poor formatting, and the use of apostrophes instead of quotation marks for dialogue were confusing and bothersome as hell.
The sex scenes were good, but everything else was hard to get through. There were lots of typos and too many pet names being used. The Christmas references were cute for the most part, but overall this book was rough.
Hmm… I hated the layout of this book, it seemed like there were paragraphs where paragraphs shouldn’t be, just thrown all over. Felt like the authors first book and if so it was decent enough… a little all over the place and I made several 🤢 faces through the book…
Thought this would be a laugh. I was wrong. Ended up as a DNF got to 50% and I just couldn't deal with how the FMC is described. We get it she's small, it doesn't have to be in every other paragraph. Also the descriptions of the FMC at points border on child like which is just plain creepy.
3.5⭐ At the beginning I was thrilled to read this book. I loved the vibes of Christmas and winter, it was so dreamy and took me straight to winter season. I was completely into the Christmas vibes and I was like ooh cute romance aha THEN the book started getting spicier and I was literally left mouth hanging open😭 because those spicy scenes were CRAZY like CRAZY lmao. I loved their dynamics and the sweet cheesy nicknames he called her with it was so swooonyyy. The best this about this book is definitely it's pace though like it is fast paced and doesn't leave space for you to get bored so it's quite good. The first half was epic, spicy and sweet I loved it! Then the second half happened which I didn't quite enjoy..
SPOILERS AHEAD: In the second half I hated hated how Chris didn't even defend Holly when his son literally slut shamed her like I get it that he's a dad so he didn't choose Holly over his son but he could've atleast defended her, this was the deal breaker for me I tried to forget and forgive but I just can't deal with a man who can't fight for his woman otherwise this book would definitely be my 5 star read. He just calls her with a new sweet and cheesy nickname after he fucks up and Holly and I both melt into a puddle but he didn't defend her and I'll forever hold a grudge against him though 🤷🏻♀️

Young Holly follows her dream and becomes an apprentice at an old fashioned Sweets Shop, despite her parents wishes. There she meets Chris, the owner and Master Chocolatier and has an instant crush on him. But since he's her boss and about 20 years older she stays away and dates his son instead - well as expected that goes horribly wrong, since he is the biggest jerk. So after a while of pining after Chris she decides to download a christmassy version of tinder on speed and there she meets Noel. From there on you can pretty much imagine what happens since Chris is in the exact same situation just the other way round.
They have the most fun together, fulfilling all the Christmas Fantasies...helloo Santa Daddy...with all the crazy things you can do...with everything Christmas...including Candy Canes...Yes...I learned more about Christmas specific kinks than I ever knew possible and don't know if I ever needed to know all of this ;) Let's say it's definitely more spice than plot but the characters are cute and I love their chemistry.
It's nothing special, there is some room of improvement and it's everything but a perfect read but it is fun and cute and entertaining so - I got what I came for.
•tropes• - Age Gap - Christmas Kinks - Obsessive MCs - group play - Ex-Boyfriends Dad - forbidden romance
If you enjoy: 🌲 Age Gap Romance 🌲 Interesting uses of lollies and deserts 🌲 Christmas feels 🌲 Heaps of open door spice 🌲 Forbidden romance 🌲 Boss / Employee 🌲 Group Scenes ... Then.. This is definitely a book you need to read!
Holly (FMC) loves Christmas, and works at a lolly store as an apprentice to the Lolly Maker, who also happens to be her ex-boyfriends dad. Holly has started to develop feelings for her boss, but doesn't think he would be interested in her. Chris (MMC) owns the Lolly store and admires Holly from afar, knowing that there is a significant age gap between them, and she is his son's ex-girlfriend. Unbeknown to Chris and Holly, each of them signs up to use the Mistlehoe dating app, which allows users to explore their kinks and Festive urges ;) Users meet at a mutually chosen location, but wear masks and don't share their names. As fate would have it, Holly and Chris meet up, not knowing each is the other.... cue an interesting use of Christmas delights and lollies ;)
This novella is super spicy holiday romance. You won't look at Candy Canes and other lollies and deserts the same again!! Great chemistry and an easy read, this novella is a must read for any spicy romance lovers.
I have no idea how Tori pulled it off, but she somehow wrote the wildest yet sweetest Christmas novella I've ever come across. Seriously, you might want to cool off after reading this one! 🥶
Holly is just the cutest! Her enthusiasm for Christmas is so contagious that it’s making me crave the holiday season right now! From the moment she appears on the page, her joy radiates like twinkling lights on a Christmas tree. She’s the kind of character who makes you want to don your favorite holiday sweater, sip hot chocolate. Her excitement is infectious, and I found myself swept up in her festive spirit, longing for the magic of the season.
And then there’s Chris—wow, this guy has a way with words that should be illegal! I was totally taken aback by some of the things he said. It was steamy! He’s not just a charming boss; he’s a master of flirtation, and his dialogue is packed with such wit and allure that I could hardly catch my breath. Plus, the twist of him being the dad of Holly’s ex-boyfriend adds a delicious layer of complexity to their relationship. The tension between them crackles like a fire on a cold winter night, and I found myself rooting for them!
I loved how they could go from baking festive treats to using those same treats in a totally different way in the blink of an eye. One moment, they’re rolling out cookie dough and laughing over sprinkles, and the next, they’re caught up in a whirlwind of playful banter that turns delightfully risqué. The holiday cheer and steamy encounters is brilliantly executed, and it kept me on my toes, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough.
The heat in this story had me feeling all kinds of ways. I was laughing but also amazed by how much energy these two had! Their playful interactions are electric, and the way they challenge each other is both entertaining and heartwarming. I don’t think I’ll ever look at a candy cane the same way again, but honestly, I’m not even upset about it.
Tori has crafted a narrative that is as sweet as it is spicy, and I found myself completely enchanted by Holly and Chris’s journey. This novella is a delightful blend of humor, romance, and holiday spirit that will leave you with a smile on your face.
- I devoured this book in a few hours as it was so good - you meet Holly who defies her parents wishes to work in a small town as an apprentice chocolatier - she get bored and lonely so she ended up downloading a Christmas themed app to be able to release some holiday spirit sprinkled I'm. - She ends up meeting someone that she found in the app and ended being matched with Noel -he meets every expectation that sends her into a blitz of awakening sexual experiences + Encounters - but she has one issue that she is lusting after her boss that is at her job but he also happen to be her ex boyfriend father Chris..... that a shocker isn't it ? - Chris is a divorced master chocolatier that is helping Holly with her apprentice and also running his own candy store . - but he also allow his son to work there but he is a slob, slack at the job and never appreciate what or even who he has when he has it.. - there is a perfect holiday novella that is mixed with some hot and steamy scenes than you shouldn't look any further then This perfect novella book
tropes in this book are - age gap - group play ( 2 scenes like omg 🥵🥵🥵) - holiday theme - Forbidden romance/ lovers whole lot of squirting
I don’t know how she did it, but Tori somehow managed to write the raunchiest/most wholesome Christmas themed novella I’ve ever read😂. I was blushing the ENTIRE TIME! You’re gonna need a cold shower after this one 🥶😂
Holly was adorable. Her love of Christmas was honestly so infectious it started making me want the holidays like NOW😂. Chris🥵🥵 THE MOUTH ON THIS MAN IS CRIMINAL! My jaw was on the floor with the stuff he’d say. I was FEVERISH y’all. Not to mention the fact that he’s not just her boss, he’s also her ex-boyfriend’s dad?!😏🫠 I honestly loved how one second, they’re being all cutesy and making Christmas treats together and the next moment he’s using said treats for other purposes…IYKYK
The spice had me panting like a cat in heat😂😂😂 I was laughing but also in awe of the stamina of these two tbh. I’ll never be able to look at a candy cane the same way but I’m not even mad about it😂
2.5 stars. Mistlehoe starts out super cute. Everything is christmas themed, it's exactly the vibe I was looking for. The writing overall was nice although it could use some editing.
For me, it absolutely didn't need the "he's my ex's dad" layer, "he's my boss" would have been sufficient if it was just about bringing the element of an actual story to this novella (rather than simply being smut front to back). I liked the idea that there was a plot here.
However, as the author repeatedly put emphasis on the "ex's dad" I was a little disappointed by the conclusion. While Holly considers Chris her christmas miracle, I think the real christmas miracle was Cole's character development. It felt like the "he's my ex's dad" was added only so both MCs could go on guilt-trips, not because it made for an interesting conclusion: forgiveness, the importance of family, yadda yadda yadda.
