This book was like a train wreck. It was so bad and I hated it but I couldn’t stop reading it.

1. I think a 7th grader wrote it
2. It switches between 1st and 3rd person throughout
3. It has more plot holes than a piece of Swiss cheese

It was so bad, and yet I kept on reading it. Damn Instagram for putting it in my stories!

this was so bad LMAO 🤣🤣🤣, brielle is a pushover, Killian is lowkey a douche bag, and blaine was cringey. delilah was the only redeeming thing about this book, but we're pushing it even then. the pov switch from first to third was so unnecessary and was confusing (I'm stupid), idk what I was expecting

I should have dnf’ed this but my kindle wouldn’t connect to the hotel wifi and download any of my other books. Won’t make that mistake again. There was way too much lip biting in this book. Mainly from the MMC. No thanks. I felt like the story was all over the place. It’s a no for me dawg.

I really loved this story, and would say it’s a 4 star story. However I did not like the authors writing style and I think it took away from the story as a whole. With that being said I can’t wait to read the 2nd book once it’s published.

Overall I enjoyed the book but there were some things that were strange. The use of “..” instead of a full ellipsis became distracting at times. The book has an alternating POV but then at times it falls into a third person narrative, which felt odd. The story is good, seems to miss the mark in character consistency during some points and also felt like it would’ve been better as two books with a better rounding out of story and plot lines. Spice and romance levels were good, and it had some very sweet points.

I first read this book on Wattpad and now I gave it a re-read! And let me tell you, this was ridiculously beautiful and absolutely consuming!

First, let’s talk about the first spark—the moment Killian and Brielle met at the library through Delilah’s innocent mischief. That entire scene felt like it was taken straight out of a movie! I could feel the warmth of the library, hear Delilah’s little giggles, and sense the quiet strength radiating from Brielle. And Killian—oh, Killian! The man didn’t know what hit him when Delilah pulled him into Brielle’s world. Honestly, I can’t decide what I loved more: his initial awe at Brielle or the way she completely disarmed him without even trying.

Delilah, my sweet little sunshine! She’s the embodiment of joy and light in this story. From her adorable coffee orders to her innocent wisdom that makes even Killian’s icy exterior crack, she was the glue that held everything together. It’s her fierce love for her “Bribri” that makes everything feel so genuine, so heartfelt. Delilah, if you ever read this (which I know is impossible, but let me dream), I want to tell you—you’re the real MVP!

Brielle. Let me take a moment to appreciate her. She’s grace, strength, and quiet courage personified. Her struggles were so real, so raw, that I found myself rooting for her from the start. I mean, she’s working multiple jobs, raising Delilah on her own, and still finds the time to teach ballet with so much heart. The way she’s fiercely protective of Delilah while trying to find her own footing in the world is inspiring. Brielle, if you’re listening (again, I know it’s impossible, but humor me), I just want to say you’re incredible, and I’m manifesting your calm, composed energy right now.

Now, Killian Russel. Where do I even begin? He’s infuriating, captivating, and impossible to ignore. His towering presence and that air of command could make anyone stop in their tracks, but it’s those fleeting moments of vulnerability that made me fall for him. The way he’s drawn to Brielle—like she’s the calm to his chaos, the anchor to his storm—is beautifully poetic. And let’s not forget the way he’s completely wrapped around Delilah’s little finger. Seeing him soften towards her, and by extension, Brielle, was like watching the Grinch’s heart grow three sizes—it was pure magic.

Killian, though, let’s not skip over your flaws. You’re overbearing, bossy, and downright infuriating at times. But I get it; you’ve got this guarded heart, and seeing you slowly open up to Brielle made it all worthwhile. And that moment when you revealed you basically orchestrated the job offer just for her? Equal parts swoon-worthy and maddening! But hey, it’s you, and we love you for it.

The supporting characters deserve a standing ovation. Mr. Burkley and Madam Alexandrova are the family Brielle and Delilah needed but didn’t know they had. Mr. Burkley’s warm fatherly affection and Madam A’s tough love were the perfect counterbalance to Brielle’s struggles. And let’s not forget George and Anna, whose subtle hints and knowing glances added so much depth to the story.

The themes in His Possession in Discretion were delicately woven—ambition, love, sacrifice, healing. Brielle’s journey of finding stability and love while battling her insecurities resonated deeply. And Killian’s evolution from a detached, power-hungry CEO to a man willing to risk his heart for love? Absolutely chef’s kiss.

S.K. Angel’s writing is a symphony of emotions—equal parts heartwarming and gut-wrenching. The mix of intense, vulnerable moments with witty, lighthearted banter kept me hooked till the very end. I laughed (Delilah’s antics were priceless!), cried (Brielle’s struggles hit too close to home), and swooned (Killian, take a bow!). The touch of Wattpad drama? Perfection. It kept the stakes high and the romance sizzling.

To Killian and Brielle—I’m so glad you found your way to each other. You two are like two puzzle pieces that finally clicked into place. To Delilah, keep being your wonderful, radiant self, and never stop singing your little songs. To the author—thank you for giving us a story that feels like a warm hug wrapped in a rollercoaster of emotions.

This book is not just a romance; it’s a journey of healing, love, and finding home in the most unexpected places. I can’t wait to dive into what’s next—because I need more of these characters, more of this world, and more of this magic.

Take a bow, S.K. Angel—you’ve created something truly unforgettable.

love this story

I first read this book on Wattpad and I absolutely loved it.

It was great being back in this world and reading Killian and Briell’s story again.

This book has improved since the last time I read it. It seemed a lot more condensed than I remember and a lot more detail went into their relationship which was nice to see. I absolutely love Killian and Briell. Their development throughout the book and growth was great. It was gradual even with the hint of love at first sight aspect which the author executed perfectly. Their chemistry was undeniable, i really enjoyed the balance of dry humor and seriousness. I also enjoyed the hint of childishness to some of the behavior between Killian and some of the side characters, yet it was done in a way that wasn’t immature but came across as relatable humor.

The side characters were great. I would have liked more banter between Killian and Blaine as I recall them having more interactions and comedy moments in the previous version. I would have also recall Eugene having more time in the story then this one and a lot more plot groundwork laid out for future stories or a more dramatic reveal to what the secrets were. I can only assume that we will get these in future books, I hope. Nonetheless, it was still a great read, and I didn’t realize how much I missed this story until I came across it again and reread it,

Great plot, great characters and great world building all leading to an easy read that was easy to follow along with. I can’t wait to revisit Delilah’s book for book 2.

I want to start by saying I loved this book when I first read it on Wattpad years ago. It was one of my absolute favorites back then. The story itself holds a special place in my heart, which is why I felt so excited to revisit it as a published novel.

That being said, I feel the transition to a published book could have benefited from more thorough editing. One major issue I noticed was the inconsistent writing style: some parts are written in third person, while others are in first. This shift can be quite confusing and disrupts the flow of reading.

Another thing I struggled with was the pacing. On Wattpad, the story felt like a beautifully slow burn, but in this version, it feels rushed. The length of the book is there, but the chapters themselves feel awkwardly structured, which takes away from the immersive experience I remember.

I’m not writing this review to tear down the author—I truly respect the work they’ve done. This is just my honest opinion, and I hope the author sees it as constructive feedback. My 2-star rating isn’t a reflection of the story itself, which I still adore, but rather the execution of the published version. With some tweaks, I think this could really shine!✨

This should have been a DNF, especially as much of it as I skipped through.

I especially hated the child grooming sub plot.

Most of this made no sense. It's just so convoluted.

A 5yo is followed back from a coffee shop to a local library where her aunt works. Billionaire becomes infatuated and within 2 days creates a position in his company for her. The closest people around her are adamantly on board with this somehow.

Then there's an indecent proposal situation where Killian (MMC) and Calvin make a wager for Calvin to take her on a date. And this is the beginning of Calvin's interest in Brielle.

Then there's blackmail, then the sister comes back, then Eugene comes back but he's apparently been back and stalking his sister, then Marrissa suddenly wants her kid back even though her whole greedy family went bankrupt. Calvin is funding her and her parents, but then he's not. All because he wants shares of Killians company and they hate each other so Killian won't let Calvin play in his sandbox.

Then there's all the characters sub plots, some of which don't get resolved. Like Eugene. Not sure why he faked his death but that's a thing that happened.

You honestly need to know string theory to follow along. I'm mad at myself for finishing it to be honest.

DNF- 10%

I don't usually write reviews when I finish so little of a book.. but I am writing this one because I wish I had seen a review saying this before I got invested.

We have dual POV in first person, which is fine, great even. But then random chapters are in third person... I am not a huge fan of third person, there are a few select authors I will read that write this way.. and honestly I enjoyed the plot enough that I might have given this book a chance if it was ONLY in third person. But the dual POV, first person, and third person, is too much and ruined it for me which is too bad. I might give it another try in the future.

Also.. this is the first book I've started that did this sooo I don't think it's a typical thing.

Snooze fest

Good gracious there has never been a boring billionaire workplace romance but here it is. Everything happens so quickly that there's nothing left for the rest of the book. Look forward to 7 chapters back to back on whether or not they are in love. Spoiler alert: they have not yet had one conversation to get to know each other. It's based purely off looks and "there's something about you".

I really didn't enjoy the narrative technique of first person (duel) and an omniscient narrator. It was jarring and actually irritating.

And OMG the inappropriate relationships that these grown men are having with a 4 year old. Author either doesn't have children or finds predatory behavior charming. Absolutely disgusting.

I really wanted to like this book, I DNF it though. I got to 48% and was just over it 😡
…………………………………………………………………..
……………………………………………..

I should have stopped when no one expressed any worry about a 4 year-old girl ordering coffee in a shop alone and having a grown man follow her out. I should have stopped when a sibling doesn’t recognize the voice of her sibling she only talks to on the phone. I should have stopped when EVERYONE WAS IN ON THE couple getting together, but no I kept going.
My breaking point was when a full grown man throws a TANTRUM, year a full blown tantrum throwing a desk! I tried but the fact I’m not even halfway through this nonsense hurts my feelings.

DNF... I read the original story of this book on wattpad. I like and prefer the original story than this new story. I don't know why it is 629 pages long. Nothing much happened in the book. Both characters were pulling away emotionally from each other. I don't feel the romance in this book. I had skipped a lot of the chapters to see if the book got any better but no. I am disappointed in this book.

way to go!

I love to read. I started reading this book on an app I had to pay for by chapter and just happened to search Amazon when I no longer had free coins. I love this book! I can’t wait for the second one. I was excited to see how there was more detail in the full version versus the app! Keep up the good work!

Honestly if you ever wanted to read a slow burn billionaire romance that has a natural development? This is the one for you!

One of the issues in the book wasn’t completely resolved, like it was but also it wasn’t so I was left wondering there. Plus a new who is it scenario as well popped up. So, those are the reasons I didn’t give this 5 stars but otherwise? I really enjoyed the book and development throughout. 💙

I would recommend it if you've been wanting to read a billionaire romance that has a HEA. I also highly suspected the next book's theme but thank you for that confirmation at the end. 🤭 Can’t wait for the rivals to lovers there.

DNF

I stopped this book after the 5th chapter. The premise sounded right up my alley so I was super excited however the writing just is not good. If someone told me that this was a high school students final creative writing assignment I would not have been surprised.
I will rarely not finish a book and just push through it, but this one seemed ridiculously long. I just couldn’t do it.

The book was well written but really long. I skipped most of the middle (50% - 90%) and still was able to enjoy the book. I did enjoy the character development. I gave it 3 stars because it was unnecessary long.

Actually a 2.5

The idea isn't bad actually, but it just should have stayed on Wattpad, we would all be happier.

But the author is crazy, she is selling this 5th grader writing for 30$!!!!

Don't consider buying it please, it will save you a ton of money

Too long

This is the second book I read by this author. It was too long. And the dialog between characters was not how people speak to each other.

Plot was useless and made no sense.

not as good as I'd hoped. Killian came across as a bullying, temperamental brat instead of a fully grown adult and the feud with Carter was just ridiculous. The book was miles too long and full of meaningless scenes just to fill it out, the whole plot could've been done in a lot less pages.
