It’s Jesse’s birthday, and as he says it’s a” big birthday” and he’s not taking it well; in fact he has announced that anyone who mentions a certain number is in danger of being bitch-slapped. His partner Tim Mallory has just the perfect birthday gift to cheer Jesse up, a Caribbean cruise. Along with Tim and Jesse will be the gang from Bath, Maine as well. But before they can sail away they must try to solve a sixty year old missing person’s case. In 1953 two teenage boys set out to visit friends in the next town and then seemingly disappear into thin air.Once on the cruise Tim and Jesse look forward to relaxing with their friends in the sunny Caribbean, but when a passenger disappears in the middle of the ocean, Tim and Jesse are asked to look into the disappearance. A chance notice on the ship’s bulletin board compel Jesse his cousin Monica to confront their family’s Spiritualist past and it’s anything but smooth sailing for the two cousins.

I love the characters in the Jesse Ashworth books. I hate that they are so choppy in their storytelling. There are never any smooth transitions from one place or idea to another. I will keep reading them for the characters and keep complaining about the storytelling.

Hold on it's going to be fun.

A very fine book that will keep you reading into the night. This author knows how to tell a good story. There is even food for thought. I didn't expect it to be this good now I want to read others by this author. You will like this one I'm sure.

This is the 6th book in the Jesse Ashworth mysteries and in this book we find out intrepid hero dreading getting older as he reaches the big 6-0- . To help celebrate Jesse's birthday, Tim and their friends give him the gift of a cruise to the Caribbean with all his friends going along with them.Before they set sail, Jesse and Tim must first solve a case of a missing teenager and his friend. The thing is the case is 60 years old and the trail is beyond cold.Once this is resolved, we have the dynamic duo attempting to solve three cases ( because of their reputation) on board the ship. I use to like these mysteries, but now not so much. I get tired of everyone patting Jesse on the back and complimenting him on everything from his cooking abilities, psychic abilities, sexual prowess etc. Jesse seems so condescending , belittling of others that don't meet his high standards that I think I just can't read another book with this insufferable twit and his band of ass kissers.
