Rate this book
Due to the abuse that he endured in his home, Ezayah Amir Oakley is raised by his hardworking, noble grandfather and when he dies, Ezayah’s entire foundation is rocked. Using what he knows to cope, Ezayah doesn’t realize how publicly his life is falling apart until he has his own team focused on how to save his career. He’s expecting the bare minimum but gets so much more than that when he meets Airess, who literally holds his future in her hands.
Airess Milan is a walking success story. Though she grew up in what some would call an ideal life, with both parents actively in the home, her father’s betrayal has impacted her life in more ways than one. No matter how hard she tries, she can’t seem to get away from the idea that men ain’t worth a dime, or penny either. Her recent relationship woes don’t do anything but confirm this, until Airess is contacted for a job that may require everything she has. Even her heart.
In the end, both Ezayah and Airess will mix business and pleasure so sinfully well that it could ruin everything they’ve worked so hard for. Or be a blessing towards a new start for them both.

Far too melodramatic

Airess manufactured hurt over her parents divorcing convincing herself that her father left her too. So Daddy’s little girl let her resentment brew into contempt for her father who moved on in life with a new wife and son. Of course, the resentment extended to her half brother who longed for a relationship with his big sister. Despite her rejection of her father’s efforts to spend time with babygirl, she twisted the narrative into him abandoning her making her develop feelings of inadequacy and grasping for straps from men. Bratty little girl meets a broken man who rose to an NBA all star whose trauma is suffocating him and he is imploding in total despair. Temper tantrums and destructive behaviors are plentiful. Rainbows come after storms.

I have read multiple books where the main characters are broken and they have healed each other and I have enjoyed the journal. HOWVER this author is far too wordy delving into repetitive points and dragging far too long. The simplest thought takes pages to analyze, forcing the reader to endure whiny self pitying dialogues.

Solid read…

I enjoyed this story! Eza and Airy were spicy from the jump lol! I don’t know if I’ll call this a true enemies to lovers story because very earlier on they was banging it out! My only con was that the inner monologue was a bit wordy in between dialogue. I would have love to hear more from the characters.

There was so much going on in this book, my head was spinning. I’m all for a toxic storyline but sheesh. Eza and Airess = TRAUMA BOND!!!! Also the storyline with Ava was over the top and far fetched because WHO was giving Eza a foster child with all that drama and scandal going on?? I almost DNF but pushed through the mess. Overall I give it 2.5 ⭐️

I started this book a while back and couldn’t get into it so I tried again…and I have a lot of thoughts!

I probably would give this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5…it kept me entertained (I kept reading because I had to see what was going to happen). BUT, I don’t think I have ever had such a love hate relationship with the main characters ever!

Ezayah is a NBA player, but his life is currently all out of sorts due to the passing of his grandfather. He’s drinking everyday, getting in trouble and ultimately gets suspended from the team! His agent Asher, who is also his best-friend is trying to get his career back on track so he hires Airess. Airess life is currently in shambles too due to her no good ex boyfriend!

They meet and immediately clash! Then after some time they get on the same page, then bam they have sex! Which to me was very random because they were just not getting along and it was like he borderline had some BDSM tendencies. Which would’ve been fine if he hadn’t just been an ass to her before!

But as the story goes on you find that they both are dealing with A LOT of childhood trauma! Airess mom has lied to her majority of her life about the dad having an outside child, she stops dealing with the dad and only deals with her step dad! So she has issues with men from Daddy Issues that really were all a lie!

Ezayah has issues of abuse by his abusive parents. His “person” his grandfather died and he has a bunch of issues from all of this. When he and Airess finally get it together and are on the same page he lashes out at her and kicks her out all why degrading her like she was trash on the street!

It’s a lot and I’m still not sold on them having a happily ever after I really feel like she should’ve moved on or at least let him feel it, she definitely went back too fast! Then they adopted a child based on a little girl they connected with at a hospital event he worked.

I also felt the basketball was a theme that was hidden with all the trauma these two endured! You knew he played and he was trying to get his career back on track but that’s about it! It was definitely secondary to the storyline! I just wish there was a little less trauma, it was like never ending! Until like close to 90%…then they were headed for a Happily Ever After!

juicy reads loved it

This was my first time reading Khamesia Sherean, and let me tell you she ATE this story from start to finish! It starts off heavy, pulling you deep into the lives of Ezayah and Airess, both carrying past trauma that shaped them into the guarded, fiery people they are today. The way they clashed? Pure enemies-to-lovers goodness. The tension, the banter, the undeniable chemistry I was eating it up.

Ezayah? Whew, a whole package flawed, passionate, and fighting to hold on to everything he built. And Airess? That woman is the definition of grace, intelligence, and a force to be reckoned with. I loved watching them push each other, challenge each other, and ultimately become the person their partner needed.

What truly set this book apart for me was the character development both individually and as a couple. The growth was organic, powerful, and beautifully written. And let’s talk about that happy endings I LIVE for a satisfying romance that makes my heart full, and this book gave everything it needed to give!

If you haven’t picked up Rebound yet, RUN to grab it. Whether on Kindle or a physical copy, just know this book belongs in your collection.I’ll definitely be keeping my eye on this author because this book? 10/10.
HIGHLY recommend!

Ezayah you see a man when in reality inside there’s a broken boy who defense mechanism is being an a**hole. Airess a girl with daddy issues and after being humiliated by Jaxon(ex boyfriend) she desperately need a fresh start. What do you do when your half brother propositions you with a job working as the troublemaker publicist? When I tell you these two clashed their first meeting was a disaster. One thing about enemies to lovers trope I eat it up and forced proximity too. Ezayah isn’t everyone’s cup of tea he’s an asshole, quick tempered, balling a** womanizer, heavy drinker and with me saying all that yet he’s still deserving of love. Nevertheless in my opinion as a reader I love peeling back those layers within every page. I admired how Airess humbled him fast a witty fmc who stands on business always cool points from me. Asher knew what he was doing putting them together. However, both of them had a lot of issues and emotional scars. The storyline kept me captivated because as I was reading, I saw both of them heal each other and develop beautifully. Yes it’s a sport romance but it’s heavy a lesson I take away from this is mental health matters spread love and care.

A good read.

This was my first time reading this author. The book flowed well it was entertaining. * Take it slow. Don’t rush this one. It is complex with many layers of understanding a brokenness. It delves into so many areas that it kept my brain flowing. I will be reading more of this author work. This book discusses grief, loss, resilience and recovery. Check your ( trigger warnings ⚠️ ) there is domestic violence, child abuse. Most of all it’s full of many different versions of love. Sibling love, friendship, love, parental love and more. I really enjoyed the foster care component. It was beautiful. Congratulations to the author on doing a good job with showing conflict and closure. It definitely was a five star for me.

Solid story with good supporting characters

I enjoyed reading this story although there were some grammar mistakes that were annoying. Overall, Airess was a good girl with a good heart who didn’t deserve how she was treated by her ex or her former employer. Ezayah, that poor man had plenty of childhood trauma he was dealing with on top of dealing with the loss of his anchor. He was struggling and really needed professional help. He should have been getting help as a child for all he went through as a child. Airess’s sister was a mess, would love to read her story next. I thought Asher was a bit out of touch with those around him and that he was a bit weird. Still didn’t/don’t trust Eza’s mom and I thought little Ava was the sweetest!

*sigh* I have so much to say…

The over explaining got old really quick. We were talking about someone’s feelings for like 4-5 pages at a time and they were feelings we already read about!!! I feel like Airess’ trauma got swept over like we didn’t even see when she opened up to Eza about it and how he reacted. It was all focused on Eza and him throwing his tantrums being rude af. I’m all for a dominant MMC that has trauma he needs to work through but Eza was just straight disrespectful. And then they adopted Ava but like we barely saw where that bond came from? They visited once then poof she wants them to adopt her. And I’m sorry but kicking me out then surprising with an ADOPTION is INSANE. I really wanted to like this book but I got annoyed with it and actually almost DNFd it.

I’m sure this is a good book, but I DNF’d early on. It’s annoying when y’all call something enemies to lovers and the whole time they don’t even have beef forreal. Like both of them was very fly at the mouth upon the initial meeting, yet I wouldn’t call them enemies forreal. Like yall both going through somethings but yall just have poor attitudes. Like one I hate the enemies to lover trope because enemy is a strong word with an intense definition and half the time folks be childish. I’m sure this could give folks the warm and fuzzy but I just wasn’t in the mood to read about to grown adults being petty and childish for 345 pages NO MAAM

Ezayah and Airess! Where do I begin?

This book was heavy and definitely has some triggers…from childhood abuse, parent neglect, self-sabotage, etc. It definitely made me think about how important parenting is and what parents do impacts their children. In addition, children shouldn’t carry the weight of their parent’s mistakes.

Moreover, Ezayah and Airess both had some childhood trauma that they were trying to work through. I think in the end they healed each other. They needed each other to find solace in their personal lives. This story was one of forgiveness and redemption.

Enemies to lovers, forced proximity, and another trope I am not going to share???? Yep!!! I loved it!!

Rebound abundance of love

What a wonderful standalone! This book took me on an emotional roller-coaster, I shed a few tears for Kez and was angry for Airess! Kez and Airess, whew, they certainly had their own set of trials and tribulations! They both deserved love for different t reasons, but please, that they found each other. Family with secrets can destroy a person!
The family dynamics couldn't be anymore different! Airess, Mama was a.trip. She would have anyone tickled!
Epilogue was awesome and gave Kez so much closure!

Eza and Airy were made for each other! Eza suffered as a child, I totally felt his pain and despair trying to meditate his relationship with Mavis was triggering and heart wrenching! I can’t believe Airy’s parents thought it was better to lie, She lost so much time with her father.
Great story, I fell in love with the characters

Eza was a broken man, until the feisty publicist Airess came into his life and paved the way to his healing. It was a rocky start at first. Both of them didn’t know each other’s pain from the past! They helped each other heal. Ava was so adorable. I fell in love with her. I cried so hard when she asked Airess if her and Eza could be her forever home. Through their healing they became a family! I so enjoyed this read! I read it in a day!!! I’m looking forward to more reads from this author!!!

IT WAS OKAY

I loved the idea but i will say it was very wordy , i kind of wish it was more dialogue and less descriptive in some chapters. I also feel like the relationship was a lot of trauma bonding and no romance foreal.

another thing , i hate this is enemies to lovers because it reall wasn’t . 30% through the book they were already lovers. it felt so rushed. So if you like slow burn this is not a book for you. Overall it was okay .

Eza & Airess irritated me!!!! The back & forth! BUT the love in between was beautiful. To see them both come out of darkness together. Her ex was a punk & I was praying she didn’t fall into the trap. To see his mom break free was enlightening to me. Asher seemed like someone I wanna dive into. Also I wanna know more about the Storm brothers!

Good read. The plot was well written with great character development. With that being said, Ezayah didn’t win me over. I feel like Airess relationship with him is doomed. He just too broken and mean. His backstory is sympathetic but he’s still so unlikable! Airess had a complicated backstory too. Love the way the author took time to build this up.

I absolutely loved the way Eza articulated his feelings for Airess. I was swooning reading this book. There were some tough subjects in this book but the author did a great job with them. This is a new author for me but I will definitely be checking out more of her work.

Awesome Read!!

This is my first time reading this author and I truly enjoyed the writing and storyline. So glad Eza and Airy never gave up on each other despite their past. And it is good to see them work to not to allow their past to dictate their future. Love this read was full of forgiveness.

rushed but ok

The storyline felt rushed , the development of the characters were lacking. They weren’t really enemies just two people put together then literally a page later Ezra is ready to hump on Airess 😒.

Deep healing

This story was good ... they needed healing and growth.
The characters needed loved, growth, and therapy
The pace was good but the back and forth at the end was a bit much for me and just never really liked the main characters.
All in all and good read

Good story line

This would've been a great book if it wasn't so wordy . Before, any character said anything you went through dang near a chapter of how they were feeling before they said it ...everytime but over all it's a decent read definitely unpacked trauma and found love.
