Demon Reform Academy #3

Demon Reform Academy: Term 3

Rate this book
Succumb to the chaos at Demon Reform Academy, where Dark Veil was born—and where I might die.

Dark Veil's plans for me had twisted into something far more malicious. Their intentions shifted from recruiting me to actively seeking my ruin. My powers came with a to annihilate the encroaching darkness threatening to possess demonkind.

While dark magic swept through the Demon Capital, I became a marked target—assassins hunted me, laid traps, and figures skulked in the shadows. But even those threats paled in comparison to the longing of my heart. The Fates bound me to five, but I’d only sealed two. To take the next step with the others, I had to understand the darkness in their souls and why it called out to me.

This term, survival was no longer about enduring the chaos and pain. It was about evading the dark magic cult bent on my death and embracing my destiny that the Fates themselves wrote.

Dear future me. Don't read the next book, you don't want to. Just stop. Spoilers ahead.

I am not sure where this series went so wrong for me. Actually that may not be true. I had similar feelings after the last book. We get an awesome first book, trauma, bully romance, and a super cool magical concept and world building.
The second book I was annoyed because it was super repetitive in nature and we got the same conversations multiple times with multiple povs and it was the "grovel" book so it was a ton of whining back and forth about does she live them or not. So I figured this book was worth picking back up to see how it was going. I was wrong.
This book took the repetitive complaint to an entirely new level. Every three chapters we get: sexual tension/sex, her feelings conflicted about her mates, then her almost dying. REPEAT FOR THE ENTIRE BOOK..mam your mates suck at keeping you safe. You were almost killed or kidnapped what 10 times in 300 pages? No one is ever good enough to watch out for all these problems? And you aren't doing self defense classes somewhere? At one point you are with your mate when he gets just stabbed out of nowhere and that wasn't enough to change up some patterns or learn more defense? We also again get the same scenes almost copy and pasted. We even got her trauma story again for Bram, which if you read my last review I had an issue with because she retold the damn story to every mate, and instead of the reader getting a "yada yada" we get to hear the story again. MAM WE ALREADY KNOW THE STORY PLEASE STOP REPEATING IT.

Honestly I have not been this let down by a series in SO LONG. this concept is there. The cool plot line in the background is good but the execution and romance and just repeat content is too much for me and I will not be reading on.

4.4 stars.
I’m a teensy bit bored. There’s just a lot of saying, and doing the same things with very similar outcomes.
And the relationships aren’t progressing as much as I’d really like them to.

I’m gonna say the death knell words and hope this one is the exception…
I’m gonna take a break, read something else, and then come back. 😅😂🤞🏻🤞🏻

Rinse and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat all the way until the most too stupid to live ending that I think I have ever read.

But literally, this whole book is practically a formula of assassination attempt, magic sucking and vomiting, death shouting noooo get her to sunstone revive, mates panicking and swooning and talking about how much they love her, some apology and groveling, a sex scene and love proclamation. This happens like 5 or 6 times. It’s actually ridiculous. At no point is anyone like… maybe we should not be in school?? They keep saying ‘I’ll never let you get hurt again’ and then she’s almost killed again like 2 pages later. There’s nothing new in this book, it’s actually crazy that I read the whole thing.

I received an advance review copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.

Overall I enjoyed this book for what it is, escapism/fun. This is clearly a middle book in a series as many MANY things happen but there is no resolution to the OVERALL story. There are some resolutions present for issues between characters, but that is part of character development.

I look forward to continuing the series as I enjoy Lyra Winters writing style. Enough plot to not be pure smut but enough smut to keep it interesting.

✨🖤😈 𝓐𝓡𝓒 𝓡𝓮𝓿𝓲𝓮𝔀 😈🖤✨
thank you Lyra Winters for allowing me to receive an e-ARC of 𝑫𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒏 𝑹𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎 𝑨𝒄𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒎𝒚 𝑻𝒆𝒓𝒎 3 and once again tug at my heart strings the entire book 😭

“𝘐𝘧 𝘐 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥, 𝘐’𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘷𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘱𝘪𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘢𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘤 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴. 𝘐𝘯 𝘴𝘶𝘣𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘵𝘦, 𝘐’𝘥 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘴 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘧𝘹𝘤𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘩𝘦𝘳.”

𝑻𝒆𝒓𝒎 2 ended on a huge cliffhanger so we pick right up where we left Pandora and Dex. (this series has to be read in order to understand what is happening in book 3 of the series.)

i sometimes think Lyra just wants to torture us bc this book had hit after hit (literally) coming at Pandora and i just want her to get her HEA 😭

this book was jam packed with the development of all the characters but also the development of Pandora’s relationships with each of her mates. you see her get time with each of her mates individually which i liked, since it’s not something you always see with 5 mates.

“𝘈𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘴, 𝘐 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯’𝘵 𝘣𝘢𝘥. 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵… 𝘥𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘥—𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘰 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘐.”

even tho it doesn’t excuse their behavior, you learn even more about Dex, Skel, and Bram’s family backgrounds and why they are the way they are. there is a lot of self reflection and learning for them and they really work on themselves for Pandora. also the found family element really strengthens for all of Pandora’s mates. it is something they all deserve 🖤

i can see some people saying that this book was either too long or a filler book of the series. but all the character and plot development was needed from this book. we dive even more into Dark Veil, but also see Pandora grow even more into her powers.

as always i loved seeing Daddy Death and Jenni as side characters. and the appearance of Rowan, Wren, and Damien!!!!!! ugh, they all still have my heart 🖤 if you haven’t ready Fate Hollow Academy, i would recommend since their story is mentioned throughout the 𝑫𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒏 𝑹𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎 𝑨𝒄𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒎𝒚 series. and we better be getting a series about Aspen Drakonus, mercenary from Blezen’s Mercenary Guild.

this entire series has been hurting my heart with every book, but i am still loving it and can’t wait to see how Pandora’s series ends and everything comes together.

“𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘪𝘱 𝘮𝘺 𝘦𝘺𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘬 𝘴𝘰 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦.”

MINOR SPOILERS!!!
#ARC-reading

After the minor heart attack I had when I got to the end of Term 2 book I was glad the story picked up right where we left off.

I love that Dex was at least partially liberated from his horrible parents when Pandora killed his mother. He’s finally getting his vengence for his sister’s death and the torture he endured during his whole life (Extra Content from Term 2 really helped me to look at Dex in a different light and understand his character as well Bram’s and Skel’s).

I absolutelly loved the character development of every one of Pandora’s mates, especially Dex, Skel and Bram. I don’t like instant forgiving in books from FMC and I am glad that Pandora was guarding herself and made them grovel and earn her forgiveness.

Hunter is someone Pandora can rely on through out the whole book. Reed is no longer the shy demon outcast and stands up for himself and Pandora, even as dream demon he can be vicious and ruthless and I am here for it. Dex’s character grew so much, he’s my absolute favourite. Skel was finally forgiven and Bram is finally getting there too.
We get to see more from guys family relationships and their background. They are getting closer to one other and considering themselves as family.

The crossover with characters from Fate Hollow Academy was a chef’s kiss. I always wanted to see more of Wren and her mates. Even better their dauthter Verity Clearwater is the new headmaster.

Dark magic is infecting demons and there’s betrayal within the Demon Council. More things about Dark Veil are revealed and even more questions remain.

Pandora helps Skel with control over his fear magic and he is slowly letting his sister back into his life. Bram is starting to trust his half-brother, who reminds him, he's not alone and is part of his family too. “Daddy“ Death is finally getting some happines, he was blessed with a second fated mate and it’s even better that it’s Pandora‘s best friend Jenni.

Even though there was cliffhanger AGAIN, this was the best book in the series of Demon Reform Academy so far. It’s 5 star review for me, as all the previous books from Lyra Winters.
I am so exited for Term 4 and sending lots of love to Lyra, truly excellent work.

MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

I always love Lyra Winters' books but each book of Demon Reform Academy takes it a notch higher every time. The way the words flow always draws me in and I finished this book in record time.

The character growth is natural but visible, And the growing devotion of the mates is something of fairy tales. I love Reed coming into his own, and Skel? I will stan Skel for eternity. Dex has grown immensely and Hunter being such a steady force is adorable. Bram finally starts getting his moments I've been DYING to see.

I have a sneaking fear and suspicion that we are going to lose Nebula in Term 4 and I just - I'm begging that we don't. I love the sassy little kitten skull and while he wasn't as prevalent in this book he did answer a LOT of unanswered questions. And Gumdrop? I need more of him STAT.

Anyway, i'm going to go reread Fate Hollow Academy now because seeing Wren and a few others again was PERFECTION. The cherry on top. I missed them, and I need to move past YET ANOTHER cliffhanger by the author who owns my entire soul with this world.

Excellent as always. A 5 star series for me.

Wow okay. So this book took me Wayyyyyyy longer than I expected to finish it. Because it got so boring. Like I got so annoyed with all the characters and it felt like nothing was happening for like 70% of this book. I started it right away since book 2 ended on such a good cliff hanger. But wow this disappointed me. I thought of DNFing multiple times. But I kept on trucking even if it took me forever and I was having to literally talk myself up to read it. Idk what shifted from last book to this one. Like it didn’t piss me off just lost my attention which is why it’s 3 stars. (I would put 2.5 if I could) I’m unsure if I will be reading the next book. Feels like quitting if I don’t finish the series.

Demon Reform Academy is back!

Seriously Lyra Winters does it again. Term 3 is filled with so many secrets being revealed, cameos from Fate Hollow characters, and Pandora and her mates being in danger and infected by dark magic. I loved seeing the personal growth from the MMC’s, especially Skel, Bram, and Dex. I honestly can’t wait for the final term and to see the final showdown. Lyra’s books just suck you in and transport you to her worlds. Now I need to impatiently wait for the final book!

this series is my happy place

I feel like this series is just such a great balance between dark and fluffy. There are some messed up things that happen and get discussed, but the main character, although we get to see her grow and get even stronger, has this vibe of innocence and happiness no matter what’s happened. I love her relationship with her guys, and her dad. I can’t wait for the next book, but I’ll just have to reread while I’m waiting! As always check TW’s before you read, safety first!

This was disappointing. Everything seems to be dragging on. This bitch got attacked no less than 847 times in the book and y’all just kept going to class and be-bopping around campus…. 🤔 These cult-y people just spawn in and nobody thinks “hmm, maybe we should leave…” And let’s not forget the vomiting. That happened about 820 times compared to the assassination attempts. So there’s that.

And her hair randomly growing back after she got blown up while her dad just stands there like it’s all no big deal and is like oh yeah btw our hair just always does that? I almost quit right there. The weird cult used a some kind of crazy bomb set up. When the fuck did this we get bombs?! It’s like info and plot lines are just thrown into the mix for fun but it doesn’t move the story along or make sense. I didn’t love the previous book but I really wanted to finish the series. Now, I’m just tired. 😭😵‍💫😪

The first book was great, the second was okay, this one was painful to get through. Quality and plot went down and so much useless filler making the book unnecessarily long.

Definitely missed the mark

The first two books were great….. this one fell severely flat. You could already anticipate what was going to happen every three chapters because the same thing happened over and over. Super repetitive. The writing was stale at best. Nothing of importance happened in this entire book until the last 3 pages.

Demon Academy: Term 3 by Lyra Winters is a brilliant continuation of the gripping series that masterfully blends supernatural intrigue, emotional depth, and character evolution. As readers rejoin the students of Demon Academy, they are immediately thrust into a whirlwind of personal and external challenges, with our protagonist’s journey of healing and growth taking center stage.

One of the most satisfying elements of Term 3 is the emotional recovery our main character experiences after the heart-wrenching events of last term. In the previous books, we saw them face unimaginable loss and pain, but here, there is a powerful sense of renewal. Watching them pick up the shattered pieces of their heart and find strength in themselves and their relationships is both poignant and inspiring. The book beautifully explores the delicate process of recovery, emphasizing that healing is not linear but a journey of self-empowerment and understanding.

Character growth is another triumph of this installment. The protagonist’s evolution is subtle yet profound. They emerge from the wreckage of their heartbreak not as a mere shell of who they once were, but as someone with greater resolve, sharper insights, and deeper emotional intelligence. Whether it's through new friendships, more profound bonds with familiar characters, or personal moments of introspection, the growth felt real and relatable, making readers more invested than ever in their story.

What also sets Demon Academy: Term 3 apart is its exhilarating promise for what lies ahead. As the students face darker forces and uncover new mysteries about their world, the book leaves us on the edge of our seats, eagerly anticipating what will come next. The hints of future conflicts and adventures are perfectly woven into the plot, ensuring that readers remain hooked while still savoring the current moment of growth and healing.

In short, Demon Academy: Term 3 is a triumph—a beautiful exploration of heartbreak, resilience, and the joy of rediscovering hope. With a perfect balance of character-driven storytelling and tantalizing plot progression, it sets the stage for even more thrilling adventures to come. Lyra Winters has once again delivered a story that resonates deeply, and I cannot wait to see what happens next in this captivating series.

Ok so I’m usually not one to complain about a book if I don’t love it but I feel like I have to say a few things about this one. First off I loved the first and most of the second book, great start to an enemies to lovers with lots of grovel. But what the hell happened with this book?!?! It was essentially the same 4 chapters just repeated over and over throughout the whole book. This is a summary for those four chapters:

1. Someone is attacked by a dark magic demon or just dark magic
2. Pandora has sex with one or more of her mates
3. A mate talks about how the regret treating her and then is traumatized by their own evil parent
4. Pandora talks to jenni and or her dad about her mates and trying to stay safe

THEN THIS IS REPEATED THE WHOLE BOOK. NOTHING ELSE HAPPENS.

I went through and counted and her/her mates are attacked 14 time! 14 separate times!!! Throughout the whole book. Like come on. They change nothing, do nothing, and just keep living life at the academy and are almost killed every chapter?!? I don’t know many leave the academy?

Ugh such a disappointment. I love her other books but this one was just not it.

I’m also so confused seeing people say this is there favorite of her books so far?? Please someone explain because I just can’t with this one

Sigh.

I so wanted to love this series, especially with how I devoured the first book. I was excited. It was something new and entertaining.

The second book was not on the same tier.

This one is even lower for me.

Too much is going on in this book, to the point where absolutely nothing is surprising and instead, I’m rolling my eyes as they are -yet again- attacked, practically every. other. chapter.

Cliffhanger? Sure. But completely expected and not at all shocking because you know it’s been leading up to that the whole time.

Yes. A couple scenes did cause a belly laugh. But more often than not, I was reading this just to read it and hope for greatness. I found myself annoyed that Pandora continued to shy away from her desires to complete her bonds with all the guys. Just do it all ready! She knows she wants them, wants the bond, but is standing in her own way. Yeah, yeah, trauma and all that, but let’s move on now. I swear.

I am on the fence with finishing the series at this point.

Term 3 is here and with the cliff hanger we were left dangling off of with Term 2 who knew what this book was going to hold.
What we do get is a continuation in the building of the relationships with our group. The growth of all of our characters overcoming the odds that are placed against them and a continuation of them growing and overcoming their pasts. We get a continuation of side characters coming in. You are going to be so happy with this addition to the series. I was giggling and kicking my feet. I feel like there isn’t much more I can say but to say that I really loved term 3. Becuase as it is still a continuing series and we have another term to go I don’t want to chance spoiling anything. If you are reading this and haven’t read the series give book one a try. If you are reading this and haven’t read Lyra Winters at all I reccomend starting with the first series in this world which is Fate Hollow Academy. Happy reading!!

I received an ARC version.
I loved seeing all their relationships develop but not only with Pandora but each other as well. I also believed some of the deaths were graphic but well deserved and honestly can Pandora and her mates not be happy and peaceful for a week without somebody trying to kill them? This book also has a few cameos from Winter’s other series set in the same universe “Fate Hollow Academy” and i loved seeing them interact i’ve been wanting them to met since the first book. Also so many new secrets came to light and there’s some new shady characters i don’t know how to feel about. There’s also some romance action and I appreciate how all her mates are still as obsessed as they were in the first book but now acknowledge that’s it’s based on their love. There’s also cliffhanger broke my heart especially since everyone was there but no one could have stopped it.

OMG!!! Ok so first off I’m loving the personal growth Pandora is showing with her mates in so many ways for this book. From being freed some from the trauma to revenge for those lost this book seemed all about growth in so many ways. We also got a lil slip in crossover from Fate Hollow which I absolutely loved seeing and um can we talk about the biggest lil eek moment of Daddy Death being fated mates with Pandora’s bestie? And um sharing is caring apparently lol? I will say I did silently cry a lil over the cliffhanger BUT it didn’t hurt as much as term 1 or 2 did. Mainly because I know closure is coming and I saw the characters grow in depth so much more this book. I’m so stoked for book 4 and to see what’s coming next in this series and the spin-offs!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Each book just keeps stepping up more and more!! Pandora is such a loveable fmc, she is truly one of my favourite characters ever!! She's strong, a badass ofc, but still kind, and even relatable!! The plot of course just gets more and more intriguing and I cannot wait for the final instalment!!

The burn is definitely burning, I loved the slow burn and the tension and the spice eeeee!! I'm loving seeing their relationships grow and evolve!! The group dynamics are really coming into place!!

If you love why choose romance, forced proximity, slow burn, badass fmc, and more, give this series a read!!

Literally the BEST!! I am obsessed with the world Lyra has built and the characters develop in such an amazing way!! I was chomping at the bit to get to this book based on how good the last one was (and also the cliffhanger had me SWEATING).

I am super picky when it comes to academy type romances and I think it’s because Lyra really sets the standard. I read this so quickly I couldn’t believe it when I was done. Im going to count the days until the next one is out!

If you are debating reading this series, DO IT!!! It’s a 10/10 😍

Lyra has once again raised the bar even higher in term 3. From the personal qnd relationship growth of all characters to the well deserved demise of others this book had it all. I loved seeing characters from fate hallow and having them be actively involved in the storyline. I'm already counting down the days until term 4. Thank you Lyra for not breaking our hearts too badly this time around! Can't wait to see what you have in store for us next!

The fact that Pandora is so strong and also the way she is able to forgive and move on from the past.
This story has been captivating from the start and the way i am able to see the growth and development from book one to now.

I am so excited to see where the story continues to go in term 4!!

Lyra really knows how to write a cliffhanger 😭 Get me to term 4 now.

I didn’t love this one quite as much as the others, the pacing felt a little slower. But I still love the series and the characters and can’t wait to see the conclusion!
