The long awaited sequel to The Simple Sabbat is finally here. The 29 Day Moon Challenge gives you the key to create The Simple Esbat for your unique practice.
"This book is the result of over a decade of doing the 29 Day Moon Challenge myself as well as many of my clients & students doing the same. This is the key to a perfect practice. When we tune into the moons natural ebb & flow we become more in tune with the subtle attributes of everything and everyone around us. The results are truly mind blowing.~ Flora Peterson Sage

Positives: -the book is what it claims to be--29 days of recording the moon phase your energy and the energy of others. -Sage claims that others telling her what kind of energy the moon phases a good for didn't help her so she doesn't offer any of the "traditional" energy interpretations -Sage has a lot of testimonials including male participants who explain how this challenge and the energies of the moon helped them--nice bit of inclusion.
Negatives: -this book has no information in it -the journalling is really basic, calling it a workbook implies there are activities and there are not -the journalling and general call to action could be a blog post, and would actually be a pretty engaging one where pagans or even non pagans all go outside or look out their window during the evening and record what energies they perceive/experience. It's a cool 29 day blog or video-a-thon. BUT It's kind of a bad book, fine for me to skim through kindle unlimited but in NO WAY worth it's $14.95 price tag. -There are formatting issues in the kindle edition and I would lose my mind if I paid $15 for a book and it's formatting wasn't picture perfect -The book is 90% testimonials--really cool as a group blogging or vlogging project, but kind of crappy as a book. A workbook should be activities and prompts
Overall, I'd pass on this book. It's a good idea that lacks in execution. Maybe provide me some more questions to reflect on or give me various moon meditations or give me various conflicting moon traditions from across the globe for me to reflect or compare my experiences too. Hell, throw in a hashtag and encourage us to post on your moon board or whatever. Let's go ahead and community this up, see how all our personal reflections vary or sync.
I have been intending on completing a moon cycle diary for a while now but never seemed to get round to it. Over the past couple of weeks it's something I thought more and more about so you can imagine my delight when I saw The author post a link to this book on Facebook.
I now feel ready and excited to go ahead with my moon journal. There isn't a lot of information about the moon cycles in this book as the idea is to find your own, discovering which phase effects you in which way. There is plenty of space in the book for completing the challenge but I think I am going to do it all in my journal instead.
There were also essays written by various people who have studied Flora's program and have already completed the 29 Day Moon Challenge which were enlightening.
The only reason I have given this 4 stars instead of 5 is that I would have loved to see more input by Flora herself as she is a fantastic writer however I can see the motivation to keep things short and sweet as it really is about your own journey with the moon.
