Studying for the CNA Exam but feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure where to start?
You’re not alone. Many CNA candidates study hard and memorize the material, yet still feel stressed or mentally blocked as exam day approaches, especially if they’ve failed before or worry about the clinical skills portion.

This guide is designed to help you break that cycle. Instead of random studying or last-minute cramming, you’ll follow a clear, structured approach built around realistic practice tests, step-by-step clinical scenarios, and a focused pre-exam checklist that reduces uncertainty and builds confidence.

This CNA Study Guide prepares you for both the written and clinical exams by showing you what to expect, how questions are structured, and how skills are evaluated, so you’re not surprised on test day.

Fully updated and aligned with the widely used NNAAP exam standard, this guide reflects current CNA exam requirements and today’s emphasis on patient safety, communication, ethics, and scenario-based care.

Whether this is your first attempt or a retake, this guide gives you the tools and practice you need to walk into the exam feeling prepared, focused, and in control.

Get ready for your exam

If you want to be a CNA, then you may be expected to take an exam. This book aims to get you as ready as possible to do well. And I think the book does a nice job of it. The book starts with a brief overview of the CNA profession and of the exam itself. Then we get into a more specific look at the exam. This includes what kind of information may be asked and a generalized review. There are also sections on how to overcome test anxiety and how best to prepare for an important exam.
