This novella was insanely hot and witty. I am a slut for professor/student and it DELIVERED. Professor James was delicious and sexy. Kiernan was sassy and lovable and the fucking BANTER—10/10.

Damn. Wait, sorry - I mean DAYUM. This book is decadent triple-layer chocolate fudge cake with ice cream, sprinkles, whipped cream, and a goddamn cherry on top.
If you’re here for complex plot and character development, move along. If you want a book so hot your kindle may spontaneously combust (two words: bathroom scene), buckle up, charge your batteries, and enjoy.
James is our hot as sin professor and Kiernan is the feisty and brilliant high school senior. I adore how much he loves her mind. His reactions were perfect and this is NOT your standard student/teacher story that’s been done a thousand times.
The best part of this though, is the writing. It’s leaps and bounds better than 99.8% of erotica I’ve read and it’s so refreshing to see writing of this quality in the genre.
I can’t wait to see what Violet graces us with next.

Well shit. That was great.
Normally, that age gap feels unreasonable, but this made sense. I got it. The chemistry between them was insane, the story was fast-paced and I honestly did not want to put it down for a single second.
This is fully about to live rent-free in my head for a while.
Kiernan had sass, bite and maturity and brought out the fun and fire in James. These characters were phenomenal!!!!!!

DNF Chapter 38, sorry but I can't continue this book. It's short but I have been reading it for days. I feel no connection between the characters, I don't even get why James is into Kiernan. Even all the smut couldn't keep my attention.

kiernan is a 17 year old math genius, well pretty much, even though she is still in high school she has been accepted to take a college math course. She is immediately greeted by the professor, James, a 40 year old grumpy asshole. James has never met a woman that has ever stood up to him before, never met any student with this level of math intelligence, let alone someone so young. He is drawn to Kiernan more than he should be, more than he has with any woman and never a student. As much as he knows this is wrong, he simply doesn't care.
This was a good read, dragged a bit in the beginning for me but it got better. James definitely fell hard and fast. Love how strong Kiernan is, doesn't care who it is, she doesn't let anyone talk down to her.

Tenure is everything you want in a taboo novella: it is fast, sexy, and smart as hell. When I beta read this, I made my husband wait an extra hour before we had dinner so I could finish it, I could. Not. Stop. I can’t wait to get this physical copy on my shelf

Kiernan is bratty and has a temper (because a lot of people underestimate her), James is an arrogant professor who swears a lot, is super into her attitude, doesn’t care that she’s underage and is into rough sex. He had zero problems hurting her even though she was a virgin 😬
I read the whole story super quickly, I was too hooked to dnf it (but I really wanted to dnf)
Firstly, I wish there was a TW for the SA in this book. I wasn’t expecting it and hated it.
I knocked off a ⭐️ because she slapped him, he force kisses her and says “kiss me back” she says NO and GET OFF ME and he still forced a kiss??? Ugh no thanks. I want consent.

I feel the need to start this review by saying in good conscience I cannot recommend this book. I do not recommend this and I very seriously considered DNFing it VERY early on. Even after finishing it...I still felt torn between giving this a 1 star rating and a 5 star rating.
The first "encounter" between these two characters is basically assault. And I'm not opposed to non-consent in my books, provided certain things have been established ahead of those encounters. But they JUST met...she's 17 and he's 40...he's her TEACHER...and he just mauls her when she clearly says no, get the f off me, and slaps him...and he doesn't stop until she says she's still in HS. I wish with every fiber of my being that scene had been written differently...that James had gone right up to the line but not actually crossed it...not actually touched her in that moment without her consent because EVERYTHING that comes after really worked for me. But THAT scene...no. In real life...there is no coming back from that and I really considered just DNFing right there...but I almost NEVER DNF...and this was highly recommended for some of my favorite tropes...taboo, age gap, etc. So I continued

Add an older MMC in James who has certain tastes in the bedroom and an innocent student and you have a trope that I do enjoy and an age gap it's usually sign me up.
Not this one.
The lust between James and Kiernan gets to the point within the first pages or so. Kiernan is smart and walks into her first ever college class and talks back to her professor, what? He is an a-hole type of professor and she is the bratty student. Like I said the age gap is there and I do enjoy age gaps but come on!
She is underage. She said she was in high school, that didn't stop him. I mean he did but not until the next time he saw her. She did say stop and he kept going with a kiss. He knew she was in high school and yet continued to do things with her and then a little too late on asking how old she was. To me this whole thing would have had a better rating if the age was a bit older and not someone in high school with a college professor. It is a novella so I understand the pace of the story but just no. I'd like to read about to consenting adults.

I don't know where to begin with this book. OH MY GOD the spice, the banter, and the tension between the FMC and MMC through out the whole book, seriously I did not want this book to end. I love fast burns, cause they move so quickly and a book like this you need that. Watching them both fall so fast for eachother was so cute. But the spice....THE SPICE, oh my god I was blushing so hard, highly don't recommend reading this at work or in public or do....your choice, cause I don't know how you could keep a straight face and not be blushing head to toe. James, has been added to t he book boyfriend list, I can't say I am suprised either, I loved him and how he was mean to anyone but her and the "who did this to you"...done gone, that was it. Also Kiernan, oh my goodness I loved her. We love a bratty, sassy FMC who put the MMC in his place and makes him trip over himself. I honestly can't wait to read more by this author, and to see what else she has for us!!

While I'm not usually a fan of underage characters in books, Kiernan was a strong, mature person, and by her actions, you'd never know that she was still in high school.
I absolutely love their banter and how Kiernan stood up for her words, leaving James speechless. They completed each other so well that I couldn't put the book down.

Okay, first off, I’ve read a lot of romance. Like, a lot a lot. I’ve been reading romance since middle school at least. I have NEVER been so horribly jealous of any book relationship, the way I am for the one between Kiernan and James. I would kill to have someone in my corner this hard. I don’t think anyone is prouder of Kiernan than James is.
Now, this is a bit of a speed run, but it’s a novella and that’s expected. I never once found myself rolling my eyes at any scene or dialogue, the way I find myself doing with speed runs sometimes. It’s really hard to 0 to 300 a relationship without something seeming a little stupid, but this one does it really well.
It’s smut heavy, but it Such. Good. Smut.
God, I’m going to go cry into my pillow and contemplate my singleness

I'm not usually the biggest fan of professor/student relationships but decided to give this one a go, and I'm so glad I did!
The perfect blend of moody and feisty, James and Kiernan's relationship - even with the taboo age gap - just worked so well.
The spice is great, and I loved the banter between the unlikely pair.
There were definitely some over the top scenes, but it was a quick and thoroughly enjoyable read.

This novella was just hot. I loved the whole taboo-ness of it. I will say there were some parts that I usually do not like or care for in other books and I found myself enjoying them in this. So well done!
Honestly this was just hot hot hot from the start and I could not put it down. I would recommend this to any one who wants a hot and fast read for sure.
