Katherine's MacLeod's unusual gift for connecting with the past leads her to a mystery within her own family tree, and the opportunity to right a century-old justice. The struggle of a previously unknown great-aunt to control her own life and fight for the rights of others is a dramatic and timely story. From her idyllic agricultural life along the shore of Lake Michigan in the late 19th century, to the political battlefield of early 20th century Washington, D.C., Annis MacLeod becomes a heroine with a mission that still rings true for women I AM.
Another great book that both entertains and educates from author Barbara Bull. I love how her books are a taste of Michigan. This one was a bit heavy on the education side, and I loved learning more about what it took for women to get the vote. I will never miss voting again if I can possibly help it!! The family Barbara has created is strong and loving and harsh and judgmental and real. Love her books!
WOW. This book was an eye opener for what women went through to help pass the 19th Amendment. Told in her wonderful story telling ways. I enjoyed learning about this history lesson and appreciate all the research that Barbara did to share with us her readers. My only disappointment was that there wasn’t more of Katherine and the rest of the family in this particular book. Can’t wait for the next book!!!
I love to read about the history in Barbra’s books. This one was very interesting. I did miss the family interaction in this one, as most of it took place in the past, but still a good book about Katherine and her gifts!
