Twelve months ago, international power couple Mac Morgan and Alec Stanford lost a child, and their marriage shattered under the overwhelming pressure to carry on as if nothing had happened.
Devastated by the death of her baby, and unable to cope, Mac does the only thing she she walks out. Afraid of facing reality, she buries herself in her music, ignoring the guilt that continues to eat away at her conscience.
Back in London, Alec flounders through work and grieves for the love of his life. But as rock band Polar Blaze finish their last concert in Tokyo, a powerful earthquake hits, and Alec can’t stand not knowing how Mac is.
Worried sick, he flies to Dubai before the band’s next concert to check on her. Their reunion ignites old passions, and as they rediscover the depth of their love for each other and face a new chapter of their life together, a dark shadow looms.
A threat they didn’t see coming.

If you loved Mac and Alec's story in a tide too high, you won't want to miss the sequel!
Caught in a Riptide is the second book in this two-book rockstar romance series. A Tide Too High was the first ever book of the authors that I read, and I loved it. I must say, I never expected a sequel after all this time, but I was so glad when I saw the author had released one.
So, this is the continuing story of Mac Morgan, lead singer of the world-famous rock band, Polar Blaze, and her high flying, businessman and husband, (estranged) Alec Standford.
I love these two characters. In true Brungar style, they are full of depth and compassion, with Alex often the voice of reason and Mac, the sassy rock star, who struggles to recover after a tragic event.
The story is fast paced and exciting, and can be read in one sitting if you have a few hours to spare. And while it could be read as a standalone, A Tide Too High is such a great read, I'd advise reading that one first so that you have the backstory fresh in your mind.
After many people pestering Ms Brungar for a follow up to a Tide Too High, here it is, Caught in a Riptide. I loved catching up with Mac and Alec, and what had happened since the last book. It's ten years since Ms Brungar brought out A Tide too High, but this one is just as good. There's plenty of relationship building, some turbulent moments, and some scary moments that will keep you reading to the end. Well developed story and characters. Loved this book.
So pleased to read the sequel to Mac and Alecs unique love story. And after a Rollercoaster of ups and downs throughout the start of their marriage I am so happy that they have finally got the happily ever after that will suit them and their family best. A relatable story with roots in rural New Zealand- away from the bright lights and paparazzi that has haunted this couple for years. Just goes to show that it is the simplest pleasures in life that count the most.
