The Nogiku Series #0.1

Revealed: Part One: New Year’s Eve with Jiro and Mark

Rate this book
Get immersed in the Nogiku world with Jiro Itō as he gets ready for a boring and annoying New Year’s Eve out in Nishikyō. At least, that’s what he expects his night to be like. Jiro would rather drink with the geisha all evening, and avoid taking anyone home, but he has family business to attend to instead. When the family business leads to an unfamiliar restaurant, Jiro spies Sanaa Griffin smiling at him from across the room, and his night turns around.

But Mark Sakai, his uncle, is not pleased with Jiro’s flirtations. Mark has worked hard for over a decade to get Sanaa into position for her new life, and he can’t have Jiro interfering. Will a stern warning be enough to keep them apart?

PART ONE of REVEALED is a companion short story to REMOVED, Book ONE of the Nogiku Series. The first chapter of REMOVED is included at the end of PART ONE. Read REVEALED first or read it later, but don’t miss this look into the other side of Sanaa’s story.

Approximately 10,000 words.

I liked knowing what was happening before Jiro and Sanaa finally met. It was refreshing to know Jiro's side of the fence, as well as Mark Sakai's perspective before introducing himself to Sanaa.

Revealed is a short story that shows New Year's Eve from Mark Sakai and Jiro his point of view. It took me a bit of time to get used to the third person perspective, although I guess it does make sense as we get both Mark and Jiro his point of view and it was easier to distinguish that way. I liked being back in the Nogiku world, although it was only for a short while and I can't wait for book 3!

It was nice to see things from their point of view, although I have to admit seeing them from Sanaa's point if view is better. Mark really is busy with shemering and making plans and wants to got things his way, even going as far as to say Jiro shouldn't date and focus on business instead. He's quite manipulative and even though we also got that idea from Sanaa's point of view, it's still different seeing that from his point of view. I liked the meeting of Mark with Sanaa her aunts and I thought it was great how Kimmie stood up to him, although in the end ofcourse he still get's what he wants.

Jiro's perspective was also a tad different then I expected, he's so frustrated and angry all the time and he thinks immediately about sex and a relationship after meeting Sanaa for the first time. And quite aggressive as well, while in Removed he comes over as much more in control, although that can be a matter of perspective. I also liked how he thought Sanaa was confident and how that was obvious from just seeing her. It was fun to see Sanaa from his point of view.

To conclude: Revealed is a nice short story from Jiro and Mark their point of view of the New Year's eve that also starts Removed. It was fun to see their point of view, although I prefer Sanaa her point of view and the first person perspective. All in all it's a nice short addition to this series.

I received a copy of this for the author in exchange for an honest review.

A companion short story to REMOVED, book one in the Nogiku Series, REVEALED shows the events of New Year's Eve from Jiro's eyes. Discontent in his role in the family business, Jiro expects New Year's Eve to be like all the other boring nights he's had lately. An encounter with Sanaa Griffin, however, changes all that and Jiro finds himself inexplicably attracted to her. Even the disapproval of his uncle and head of the family, Mark, can't dissuade Jiro from pursuing Sanaa.

REVEALED by S.J. Pajonas is a wonderful little teaser into the world of the Nojiku Series. Having read REMOVED, it was fun to experience the familiar scenes from Jiro's point of view. I found I had a whole new insight into Jiro's personality that I'm sure will enrich my further readings into this series. I look forward to more of these shorts!

Short story set in the Nogiku series universe told from Jiro's point of view. His version of events the night he met Sanaa provides a new perspective and additional background on the Sakai family, Jiro, and the beginning of the relationship between Jiro and Sanaa.

I liked that we could see what was happening on the other side of Sanaa's story in book 1. A lot of things were filled in which is big in my book.
