Every 20 years, the Shadow Pack arrives in the small desert community of Bleed City, Nevada. To honor the pact made 150 years ago with the werewolves, the town offers up their eldest daughters for the Choosing—a ceremony where the shifters pick their virgin brides.
Like most werewolf packs, the Shadows need human females for mating and breeding so they can replenish their werewolf bloodlines. Arabelle Winton considers the entire process somewhat barbaric, but as the oldest female in her family, she must take her place among the other women.
What she doesn't expect is to catch the interest of Alpha Greyson Burke. When he chooses her for his mate, he shows her the true meaning of passion--and opens the door into a sensuous world she's more than willing to explore with him.
Yes, Grey can have her body any way he wants... but Belle will never give her heart to a werewolf.

It was an interesting concept and takes arranged match to the limit. Werewolves protect a town so the town agrees that every twenty years the first born daughters are put up for a werewolf mate lottery. I didn't realize this was a serial and thought it was a series.
This first section doesn't develop the werewolf element in the world of humans, but I got the impression that they're known and all that.
I had to stop at the point that it felt like a forced mating (i.e. dubious consent). This girl does not want a mating. She's a virgin. So what does jerkface alpha do? His first act is to say 'hi, your mine, drop your drawers'.
Just uh uh. I can put up with a lot, but not a dub con disguised as PNR. I wasn't in the right mindset for it as a result and it was truly not written as dub con so much as someone's idea of just a strong alpha guy showing a shy girl the ropes. I couldn't see it that way and I couldn't see myself enjoying it as a romance so I'm calling it.
I really enjoyed this short snippet, but that is the rub with a serial book. You are just getting into it and its over.
I don't generally buy serials but Michele Bardsley is a favourite author and I trust her to deliver a good story and she doesn't disappoint.
Arabelle is the oldest female in her family so it is up to her to participate in the Choosing, where the werewolves come to town every 20 yrs to find virgin mates. In doing so, they protect the town and the people and this Pact has been going on for 150 yrs.
Our Alpha, Greyson Burke, is mighty impressed with Arabelle and she is chosen by him even before the Choosing ceremony.
It's been a while since I have written book reviews. I took a sabbatical from them because I was burnt out, but now I am picking it up again. This book is the first one I chose to read. It's part of a five book series and for some reason I already had books 1-3 on my kindle. Each book is pretty short and if you put them all together you would have one book that would probably be around 250 pages. It was an ideal book to start back up with just because my kids haven't been giving me a lot of time to really sit and focus on any reading at all. The shortness made it so I could read the book in less than an hour or keep reading a few pages throughout the day and still feel like I actually got somewhere with the plot by the end of the day.
That said, the story is very intriguing. This book gives you all the information you need to understand the dynamic between the Shadow Pack and Bleed City (the first is a werewolf pack and the other an actual town). Every 20 years, the people of the town send their 18 and older first born virgin daughters to be married off to the eligible male werewolves of the pack. This story is about Belle who is not looking forward to going to The Choosing. She was not the first born daughter in her family, but her older twin sister is no longer alive leaving Belle to fill in her footsteps. You learn all about The Choosing and a little about the pack itself in this story. Just when you think the story is in full force though, it ends. So have book two ready to go!
Although it was a fairly short read I did really enjoy this introduction into The Pack Rules series, which is impressive considering how quick of a read it was, well for me anyways.
I liked both of the main characters and can't wait to see how there dynamic grows, Belle just seems so innocent yet I love her feistiness. By the end I was left searching for the release date of book number two which hopefully will be soon!
My only complaint was that I wished it was a little longer, but if this series ends up half as good as the Broken Heart series I'll be happy.
I came across this author by chance and have actually really enjoyed her serials. This is a review for parts 1-5. I liked the story in this one. It was hot but actually had a good story. I did like that the heroine was a strong woman who fights for what she wants and believes in. The main thing I loved was that the heroine was a fighter. It made me happy to have a strong heroine instead of a whiny one. If you are looking for a fast quick fun shape-shifter read then look no further.
The story drags on and took some time to catchy attention. I did not like the lead male character as he is way to controlling. He is not very appealing and seems a little creepy. The main female lead is the typical young women. Can't make her mind up and not happy with her situation. She sounds whiney and annoying. It was a short story so I will read the next book and give the story some time to develop.
I should've taken note of the negative ratings... but i did not *sigh* my reaction after I read this was WTF is this? ... I hate serial stories and even this was not one I still would've hated it. I just could not believe the first interaction of the couple... unbelievable man...they just met... I sure as hell am not gonna read the next ones... figures... I hated the cover and it should've clued me in *banging my head*
Excellent beginning to what feels like an amazing story!
This is a fast read, a part of a series, that will grab your interest right from the start and keep you deep in the plot I t right up to the cliffhanger. The characters are strong and the story has layers and depth. The whole choosing and secret ceremonies was nicely done, with the surprise of her killing ability, it added a twist that kept me interested.
I bought this book yesterday and started reading it this morning, its very short but I thought it was a good intro into the little novella series. I do enjoy these kinda books as its like a TV show, waiting for the next episode to come out! And I have read the broken heart series by Michele and fell in love with it! So I know this one wont be a disappointment. So far so good! Now on to part 2!
I liked the story and the straight forward way the author th hour laid out her world and the characters in it. This definitely read like a chapter rather than a book. I cannot remember if this is a serial, but looking online I see the other parts. Author should be ashamed to have broken ONE book into parts.
This was a pleasant, short and quick read. I enjoyed it, but was disappointed with the ending. I can see where the next book will begin. But until book #2 comes out, I'm left hanging.
What a yummy interest read. I picked this up as a free amazon read and I have to say I've always enjoyed Michele Bardsley writing, she is a author who definitely puts sexy into all her books. This little mini series is delightful. I love all things werewolf. Teehee!!
This is my first book by Michele Bardsley and it most definitely will not be my last!! I can't wait to read the second book in this series!! I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone!! I was hooked from the beginning to the end!! Michele you are an amazing author!!!
Hawt! Like a typical serial it was short, but oh the hotness inside...yikes!!! The one thing that I found lacking was more descriptives and sadly that seems to be the issues with most of the short books.
For such a short story I was hooked. I couldn't get enough & finished rather quickly. I love the way this author writes. She has you wanting the next page before you even finish the one you're on. And holy hot alpha were... I'm ready for more.
Really. People has to start numbering the books properly and clearly state it's a series. I thought it was just this and the book I read had a different cover and title but with the same author. Like, confusion much? Good thing the book is awesome or I would have died..
