Sexy? Hot? Steamy? Yes, Blissful Surrender is all that and more. Don’t believe it? I’ll explain! :)
The Bliss series is one of my favorites, because of the humor and romance. The characters are engaging and the kind of guys that we read about and take with us through life (Delicious Daniel <3). I confess that I had a different image of Sean. I thought he was gloomy and reserved, a mixture of Christian Grey with Gideon Cross. But no, BJ made him unique, exciting and completely different from the dominant characters that we usually see in other books.
Sean and Sam live a love story like the movies, but because of her feminist mother’s influence, she ends the relationship with Sean, breaking his heart and her own. They lose touch and meet again 10 years later. She is a police officer, Zander’s partner, the character of book two that I had done the review and you can check here. In a night shift, they receive a call and find a man who got beaten very badly in an attempted robbery. To her surprise, this man was Sean’s younger brother.
Of course, she ends up meeting with her ex, when she’s leaving the hospital, and all the electricity they had in the past resurfaced, leaving them completely ungrounded.
Sean decides he’ll do anything to win Sam back, taking her back to his bed and his life. And Sam, despite all the feelings she has for Sean, is ready to run for the hills to get away from the man she’s terrified will make her suffer.
Sean is a dominant inside and outside the bedroom, but at the same time a lovely man, romantic, sensitive and passionate. Sam is a strong young lady, even with the profession she chose. When these two powerful forces attracted, they manage to stay together, they will have to go through some challenges and overcome the fear of surrendering, the gambling problem Sean’s brother has and the fear and stubbornness to say what they really feel about each other.
This book is very different from the others in the series. It has a great emotional burden, a little more drama and it is impossible not suffer with the two of them until they get it right.
Besides, this is a very special book for me, because, one of Sam’s best friends, Rico, is a “Brazilian” paramedic who was specially created for, guess who ladies and gentlemen? YES!!! Me, this little person here, who’s talking to you: BJ Harvey, which I have the honor to call a friend, made this character especially to honor her two Brazilian friends (me and Dea Gerkhe, a Brazilian who lives in the USA), plus the Brazilian readers will be able to follow these wonderful series on the second half of 2014 , in “PORTUGUESE”.
This is a book that deserves to be read and reread. BJ demonstrates an incredible and amazing maturity as an author, building a story that hooks you from start to finish without falling into the cliché of the “dominator good guy”.
