‘Detonate’ was riveting. The thrilling plot involved a pregnant U. S. Marshal along with her FBI agent brother and her bomb expert sister-in-law in tracking down those responsible for setting then detonating explosives at the Denver Airport, coping with a pre-pubescent teen and his upheaval, as well as his mom, and making plans for the new arrival. Moreover, the plot included several “Oh no!” moments especially the scenes when trying to disengage the bombs. Additionally, I liked the author’s writing style: well-written and engaging characters (including the two Belgium Malinois in Gunner and Renegade), nerve-wracking settings at the airport in Colorado and the ranch, surrounding hills, and caves in Wyoming, the amazing storyline, and the vivid descriptions, including imagery, figurative language, and the spirited word choices that created a frenetic tone. Overall, I liked the explosive narrative! I received a copy for free and am giving my honest review voluntarily.

I really enjoyed Detonate, book 9 of the Tin Star K-9 series. This book was much more intriguing and adventurous.
There are a couple of negatives that I’ll mention. There were times when Caitlyn would drive me absolutely nuts because she’s pregnant and she’s putting herself in these extremely dangerous situations. Her stubbornness is very frustrating. I also am not fond of these abrupt cliffhangers that Jodi keeps doing.
Other than that, I really enjoyed the plot and the story build up. There’s quite a bit going on in this book that will keep you reading and/or listening to until you finish it.
Until next time my fellow Goodreader’s, I wish you Happy Reading and/or Listening!📚🎧💜

Deputy US Marshal Caitlyn Reed and the other FBI team are on a man hunt for a missing person which leads to a dangerous journey. An action packed, fast-pace suspense thriller which has you on the edge of your seat and is unputdownable. I received this ARC copy and recommend this book to other readers .

Packed with action

There's a lot happening in this book, Catie is taking more risks than she should whilst pregnant, Jace is pushing boundaries, Colt is searching for missing people and Dylan is fighting off those who want their land.
Explosions, gun shots, beatings, kidnappings and bombs....but which are connected and which are just coincidence?
Caitlyn and Colt frequently disagree about work, and usually they are both being stubborn and a little unreasonable, but this time I have to agree with Colt...Caitlyn is taking too many risks and needs to take a step back, it is not just her life she is risking!
I look forward to the next book due out Autumn next year, which will have the arrival of their baby and more crazy cases! I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

I really enjoyed this story! It has all the great elements of a Jodi Burnett book; great characters, drama, adventure, and twist and turns. And of course, multiple storylines, and enough intrigue to keep the reader engrossed in the plot, and driven to reach the ending when everything has complete closure. The multiple storylines are not at all confusing, but truly adds to the drama, and keeps the reader involved in the characters’ lives that live throughout this series. Ms Burnett’s stories always are written with such clarity and descriptions, making them a smooth-flowing read. I highly recommend. I received a complimentary ARC, but I am voluntarily offering my personal opinion.

DETONATE (Tin Star K9 Series), my twenty-second read from author Jodi Burnett, who is one of my favorite authors. Burnett hits another out of the park with this one. This book continues the trend of well-written, enjoyable books, it caught my attention in the opening pages & I never put it down until completed! Burnett has created a complete world in which her primary characters interact with an ever-expanding world of repeat characters, some very familiar from her other series and at times crossing over. It's been almost 4 years to the day that I read Mile High Mayhem (FBI-K9 Series, #4), my ninth read from Burnett. It was high time Burnett brought back that series and characters, reuniting the family connection. If you haven't read that book and series I highly recommend you do so ASAP. Personally I hope Burnett starts writing in that series, it would be an easy intertwine with the sries she's currently invested into. "I received a complementary Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more in this series & more from this author, and look forward to PURSUIT (US Marshal Dirk Sterling Book 5) when it's published in February of 2026 and SURVIVAL (Tin Star K9 Series Book 10) due out in September of 2026, they're already on my TBR list. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

An absolute thriller from beginning to end as US Deputy Marshal Caitlyn Reed is adjusting to her pregnancy, but still wanting to work with her K9 Renegade. On a new assignment she will be working with her brother Logan, an FBI agent. Logan is tracking activists who are said to be planting explosives at Denver International Airport. It is up to Caitlyn and Logan, along with his wife Addison a bomb disposal expert, to find and contain the explosives. Caitlyn’s husband is Sheriff Colt Branson and he is searching for a missing hunter thought to be in the nearby mountains. They don’t find the hunter, but they do find explosives in a mine in the nearby forest. Could this be the stash of the activists? Colt is dealing with his young son, Jace, who only wants to spend time on Caitlyn’s brother Dylan’s ranch, Reed Ranch. While Jace is helping on the ranch, he is targeted by two men who are trespassing on the property. Dylan was offered a large sum of money to sell his ranch to a property developer. He turns down the offer, then seems to be targeted as are two other ranches in the area. Is the developer behind the assaults on the properties? Will they find the missing hunter before it is too late? Since Caitlyn will be working in an administrative capacity until her baby is born, she is asked to provide intel for their friend, United States Marshal Dirk Stirling (can’t wait for that book!). I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

This is the ninth in the Tin Star K9 series. It can be read as a standalone. Caitlyn Reed is a K9 handler for the US Marshall. She is pregnant and realizes that she cannot do everything she would like if she wants to carry her baby to term. She, her brother, who works for the FBI, and his explosive expert wife are placed in a precarious situation while to track down bad guys who want to create an incident to disrupt America.

While on the home front, her step son, Jace, is rebelling and winds up in a tricky situation. Caitlyn’s husband is local Sheriff Colt Branson.

I like how the personal relationships between family members, exes, and blending families are presented. Do I like Alison, not really. I also think Colt and Caitlyn have so talking to do. Both will need to modify their expectations, especially after the baby comes.

I like the pace of the book, the writing style, and the action. I highly recommend this book.
I was given an audio copy of the book and these are my own opinions.

ARC review. Detonate, by Jodi Burnett, is the newest book in the Tin Star K9 series. Caitlyn, along with her K9 partner Renegade join up with Logan, her brother and Gunner his K9 to stop the bombs being set off in the Denver international Airport. Meanwhile, Caitlyn’s husband Sheriff Colt is at home dealing with a missing hunter, the discovery of a cache of explosives in a cave and a son who wants to work on a ranch instead of going to middle school. As Cait, Logan and Colt work their individual cases strange connections pop up. The action starts out fast and only gets faster as all of the unexpected twists ramp up the storyline making working together to stop these activists imperative before more innocent people are killed. Detonate’s storyline had my heart racing and me gasping for air, as I turned pages to figure out who the culprits were and that Caitlyn’s family and colleagues were safe.

Against her husband Colt’s wishes, US Deputy Marshal Caitlyn Reed teams up with her brother, FBI agent Logan Reed, their K-9 partners, to search for potential bombs at Denver International Airport. What started out as a search mission quickly turns dangerous and Caitlyn finds herself and her unborn child in harm’s way. Even when she’s put on lighter duties, she finds she’s not out of danger.

At home in Moose Creek, Wyoming, Sheriff Colt Branson, is also dealing with several issues. He’s short-staffed at work and is having to deal with Jace’s mother, a constant source of complaints and threats.

An awesome edge-of-your-seat thriller filled with twists and turns, drama, danger, kidnapping, and more!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

An Explosive Thriller
An explosion at Denver Airport wipes out an entire family and several vehicles in seconds. Who’s behind it—and why? Caitlyn and her K9 partner, Renegade, dive straight into the investigation. But with Caitlyn pregnant, Colt is far from thrilled about the risks she’s taking, and the tension between duty and family runs high.
As Caitlyn and her team dig deeper, the danger isn’t limited to the case. Trouble hits close to home, and Colt’s son ends up right in the path of someone’s escalating mischief. Between the unfolding terror plot and the personal threats circling their family, the stakes just keep rising.
High tension, tight pacing, and plenty of danger kept me turning the pages. I enjoyed the ride and would recommend this one to anyone who loves crime thrillers that keep you holding your breath.

I startled the hell out of my little dog when l suddenly reached the end of this book and yelled, NO, but it was just as well because l could finally re-oxygenate. I have read all of Jodi Burnett’s books but this one in some ways was the most powerful of the series and l was literally holding my breath with anxiety? and anticipation. The dogs as usual are all wonderful, talented, and lifesaving and almost smarter than the humans. The characters all continue to grow in interesting ways and the addition of a new person, Jace, is an incredible addition to the cast of characters. While it is not absolutely necessary as each book is also a standalone but l do recommend reading all of these books in order. Get them, read them, and remember to breathe!

Audiobook: Wow! My attention was grabbed from the opening paragraph until the very end, and I listened to this whole audiobook in one sitting. I've enjoyed this whole series, but I thought this was the most exciting adventure yet for US Deputy Marshall Caitlyn Reed and Renegade. Caitlyn teamed up with her brother FBI agent Logan and their dogs, Renegade and Gunner, to look into a potential terrorist plot. The action was almost non-stop, and there were many edge-of-the seat moments. I thought L. B. Neibaur's narration was great as her performance kept my attention. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

Detonate - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Jodi Burnett's Detonate sees pregnant Deputy Marshal Caitlin Reed, her husband Colt and several of their family members, (including their sniffer-dogs Renegade and Gunner) trying to stop deadly bomb attacks around Denver airport, before trying to find an experienced hiker who's missing in nearby woods. Meanwhile, Colt's pre-teen son Jace wants to ditch school, for life on the family's ranch and his actions bring anxiety and consequences to all.
Detonate is an intelligent thriller, full of human emotions, behaviour and real-life scenarios that you're sure to relate to and enjoy - I know I did!

This isn't just a thriller; it's a deep dive into danger. Deputy Marshal Caitlyn Reed, her FBI brother Logan, and their amazing K9 partners, Renegade and Gunner. Their partnership is the absolute heart of the story. With a massive terror plot looming, and a complicated political figure adding fuel to the fire, the tension is real. Get ready for a fast-paced sprint through a maze of deceit. Caitlyn and Logan have to trust their guts—and each other—to stop the clock. I couldn't put it down. An entertaining read from start to finish.

How can two incidents miles apart be related? In this nail-biter we follow a husband and wife, both in law enforcement, investigate two different crime scenes and find out they are related.
A wife reporting her husband is missing and a bomb that explodes at an airport both have you reading this mystery from cover to cover and not wanting to put it down as we follow the trials and tribulations of the blended families that contribute to the heart of this story.
Cannot wait to see what happens next.

I love this series but I am getting very frustrated with Caitlyn. Once again Caitlyn & Renegade are called into action. This time their mission involves finding hidden bombs & trying to stop explosions before they can kill more people when they detonate. While Caitlyn tracks down bombers Colt has his own hands full trying to locate some missing people. Caitlyn & Colt are also having issues with Allison again as well & now Jace is starting to dislike his mother when she tries to keep him from the ranch. A great read and looking forward to the next one.

A Very Exciting Book

It seems to me that this book has more action and danger in it than previous books in this series. It was very interesting and adventurous. I always enjoy reading books with hero dogs in them and this one has more than one. The basis for most of this series is the extensive and expanding central family whose individual members seem to alternate in being the main characters in each book. I highly recommend it.

By book 9, you might think things start to slow down, but not at all! This book is everything a great thriller should be. It's suspenseful, action-packed and in true Jodi Burnett fashion, filled with great characters and heart. Each book flows naturally into the next, keeping the tension and pace high while adding new layers of emotion and depth. I love all of her books and this one is easily a five-star read for me!

This is a riveting, fast-paced, suspenseful, action thriller, full of a range of human emotions and difficult situations by one of my favourite authors. There’s multiple storylines which weave and blend throughout the book. Deputy Marshall Caitlin Reed and her K9 Renegade are tasked with investigating the bomb attacks around Denver airport. It works as a standalone, but it is part of a great series. A well-written book. Highly recommend.

Another great book in this series. Caitlin. Is now pregnant and still in the US Marshall service with her dog. The plot involves a terror threat at the Denver airport with people being killed. Caitlin is involved much to the chagrin of her husband. There is a lot of action and drama. I really enjoyed the book and recommend it to all readers.

Loved Detonate. In her usual style Jodi keeps you on the edge of your seat (and makes me want to read without putting it down). Action at home and action on the job keep Caitlyn and Colt both busy. And of course Renegade is right in the thick of things. This time other family members play some bigger roles too. Highly recommend this one!

Tim Star K9 - Next

The latest in the Tin Star series. Caitlyn and her brother Logan are c.f.called out for duty at the Denver Airport. Explosions have been occurring. The FBI are pushing hard to find out the leaders. K-9s are being used to search. It's another good Tin Star suspense novel.

Lots of excitement!

As usual, Jodi Burnett doesn't stint on the excitement and adventure. Each main character had a dangerous problem of their own to deal with. The side stories with Jace and his parents, and Caitlin's pregnancy added to the drama.
Even though I had to pay a pretty penny to read this episode, it was worth it and I look forward to the next one.
