Sleeping with my roommate would be wrong… right?

Dax

I’m free to bang whoever I want. At least while we’re on this break my fiancee said ‘we’ needed.

But I need a connection to hook up, and that’s tricky when you can’t commit. Besides, I’m busy. Two jobs, all my side gigs, and my influencer stuff is finally taking off. People love my workout videos. Or the baking. Or just me shirtless, but hey, followers.

Jerry invited me to crash at his place again, so I thought that meant something. But he’s trying to get his husband back and I respect the hell out of that. Sure, he’s still super kind, understanding, and really hot in a nerdy way. It’s making me feel really weird lately. Good weird. Great weird.

But I’m not an animal. I can control myself.

Probably.

Jerry

I want my marriage back. So things can be how they were, before he left. That feels so possible, now. Imminent, even.

It’s not making me as happy as I thought it would.

Not like the man that helped me move on, who is suddenly back in my life. When my husband’s indifference sends me into a spiral of hopelessness, Dax is always there to hold my hand and lift me right out of it.

He’s making me imagine things I shouldn’t. Making me want things I shouldn’t.

I thought I was getting signs telling me it’s time to get my life back. But maybe I’ve read them wrong.

Maybe what I really want…

Is right in front of me.

Please Like and Subscribe is a Roommates-to-Lovers MM Romance with low angst, decent spice and an HEA that drove Dax’s follower count through the roof. Expect a slow burn with lots of sexual tension, some light-hearted fun and characters you’ll absolutely fall in love with.

Rating this a 5⭐️ because it really really made me happy. ☺️ And I love Dax.

Release Date~November 13th

~Looking for a good slow burn swoon with low angst with a likeable character, then this is for you.

~I really enjoyed this. And obviously Dax was my favourite character, I absolutely adored him.

~This story is a friends to lovers/past hookup to lovers romance.

~Dax is bisexual and he's going through a break with his fiancée and we have Jerry who is trying to fix his marriage with his husband who literally disappeared on him. Dax needs a place to stay and Jerry offers Dax his guest room seeing as Jerry lives alone and currently separated from his husband.

~Dax made every minute of this book worth more than enough. He's one of those characters that you fall in love with instantly and he just seems to make everything better. Despite him being a clueless himbo who is so full of energy and literally lights up the room every time he walks in. He's so full of warmth and absolutely loveable.

~Jerry on the other hand, I wanted to throttle him so many times for being such a doormat when it came to his runaway husband Micheal. Although it did make sense though.

~Dax was a good thing in Jerry's life, the best thing even. I loved how Dax brought out a different side of Jer, one which Jerry never got to explore with Micheal. And I loved how Jer never treated Dax like he was stupid or annoying. The chemistry between them was off the roofs. Despite Dax chaotic lifestyle, I respected him heavily for having certain principles and being able to respect Jerry's boundaries. I'm not sure how those two survive being in the same space and not ripping each other's clothes off every chance they got. Their chemistry was insane. The romance between Jer and Dax, amazing. And the side characters were all so beautifully written.

This was such a swoon worthy slow burn, and I didn’t even care that the spice didn’t come until later in the book. Every page was worth turning over.🥰

Loved this. Especially Dax. I can’t wait for this to come out so you all can experience the chaos that is Dax. My clueless baby. 😁🥰🥰

The author's debut novel, it expands on a short story Only One Nightstand. It is very short, it helps to better understand everything that happens, although it is not necessary to read it, but it is a plus.

The writing is solid, the characters are well developed.
It's a slow burn, so don't expect much to happen, but it's very worth it.

Dax is a himbo golden retriever who has an on and off relationship with his girlfriend and fiancée. From time to time they fight and leave the relationship, during which time they have agreed that they can do whatever they want.

Jer is married, but Michael, her husband has been missing for months, the only clue that he wants to get back together with Jer is that they go to couples therapy, but he doesn't put any effort into it. I think Michael is psychologically abusing Jer and doesn't want to let him go because of the feeling of power he gets from abusing. (if you read the short story this is more understandable).
I understand that for the slow burn to work both must be trapped in other relationships (no cheating, in case anyone is wondering).

I will follow the author closely.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Things I loved:
*Demi rep
*ADHD rep
*Communication and boundary setting
*Honest discussions about ending long-term relationships
*Loveable side characters
*Sunshine Himbo who must be protected at all costs

I'm a sucker for a story with demi and ADHD rep, and this story had both in the form of Dax Mikkelsen. Dax it the epitome of himbo. He's friendly, goofy, and a bit clueless, but he's also sweet, trusting and respectful. There were at least 3 scenes that made me laugh out loud of people very obviously trying to hook up with him while he was completely oblivious to their attempts. He is such a genuine ray of sunshine that I wanted all the good things for him, and when the angst finally showed up it broke my heart for him.

Jerry is the more reserved, refined, and introverted MC, but their relationship never feels forced at all. He and Dax compliment each other so well, and they both obviously care for each other very much. Their chemistry is off the charts, and it's clear from the beginning both men are attracted to each other. But Jerry is honest about his desire to fix his marraige and Dax respects the boundary he's been given. They spend most of the book as friends, though it becomes difficult for them both to stay platonic. I was frustrated for Jerry, who kept allowing himself to be treated a certain way by his estranged husband. He's a very principled character, but not in a stuffy, arrogant way. He genuinely wants to do the right thing and takes responsibility for his actions when he makes a mistake.

I really appreciated that the slow-burn element of the story wasn't based around miscommunication or lack of it entirely; there was a very frank and open discussion when they first reunite, and boundaries were established and respected. As someone who is often frustrated with the use of miscommunication as a plot device, it was really refreshing to see a story develop without it.

The addition of Chad was helpful to show Dax's growth as a character. We as the reader can see he's a terrible person, all the other characters can see it too. But seeing Dax's view of his "buddy" change over the course of the book shows that this "clueless" himbo isn't nearly as clueless as he thinks. I also loved the thinly-veiled insert character of a certain tech billionaire. I didn't understand all the marketing strategies discussed (I'm with Dax on that one), but it was entertaining to see him and his followers ridiculed. I'm also a huge fan of the name the author used, it definitely got a laugh out of me.

The only character who fell kind of flat for me was Michael; mostly due to him being such a reluctant and evasive character. The few times he actually engages he is antagonistic, but his interactions in therapy versus at the apartment have a different vibe that didn't really come together for me. Ultimately though this didn't take away from the story at all.

Overall this was a hugely enjoyable read and a solid debut from the author. I look forward to future books from him.

(Like maybe a spinoff for Aaron? I want the stressed workaholic to find some happiness too!)

*I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review*

This book was so much fun! The dynamics between Dax and Jerry was so good. I was cheering for them the entire time. The dialogues were well written, like the whole book. I really enjoyed it.

I was fortunate enough to receive and ARC for this book. I can say it's definitely not my style, slow burns are a little rough for me but this was a good book. Dax and Jer were way to sweet and them together is just downright adorable. It took a long struggle for them to get there, but the storyline was good. There are times you want to yell at Jer to wake up, and poor Dax is so adorably naive to most things. If you like slow burn I think you'll really enjoy this story!

364 pages
1st person, past tense, dual character POV
Tropes: and they were roommates, golden retriever, cinnamon roll, influencer x white collar, slow burn
Triggers: (mentioned or in passing by secondary character) casual misogyny, biphobia, cult-ish behaviour, history of family mental health issues, casual drug use, casual attitude towards drinking, hints of depression from work stress
(explored or mentioned by main characters) infidelity, couples therapy, anxiety

Please Like and Subscribe is an incredibly heartfelt, real portrayal of the struggles one couple face while finding their way to each other. Saying that feels like a massive over-simplification of what I've just read, but that is the crux of the story – Jerry and Dax are navigating life, love, friends and work to find out how to fit together and what will make them happy. Along the way, we get to experience this incredibly romantic, sweet and wholesome friendship form between them.

I can't often say that I spent the majority of a book smiling, but every time Jerry and Dax were on page together I was either grinning at their adorable chemistry or biting my lip for other reasons. 👀 Scott did such a great job of making both main characters viscerally relatable and familiar – they both work regular jobs, regular homes and complicated relationships, weird friends and more troubles than they care to admit. Somehow, they come together beautifully, in a way that lets one be a tower of strength to the other just when they're needed.

Dax is...gosh, a cinnamon roll, golden retriever, puppy who just wants to appreciate and adore and salivate all over Jerry in the most adorable way. He's a budding influencer – not the making-mass-amounts-of-money type – who is struggling to find his niche and make it work for him. He's also got an on-again off-again relationship with his fiancee, Deana.
Jerry is still reeling from his husband Michael walking out six months ago with no warning, no rhyme or explanation to his actions. The A-h*le even took all the furniture in the house! Jerry has a job in the background of social media, which is what brings him back into Dax's orbit after a one night-stand together months ago. Having heard from Michael soon after that night, he's now actively trying to repair his marriage with couples therapy...if only Michael would cooperate.

NOTE: For a full run-down of how they met and how drastic Michael's departure was for Jerry, I STRONGLY recommend reading Only One Nightstand first. In fact, read it immediately before Please Like and Subscribe, because although both are written to standalone they provide context and continuity to each other that makes them better read as a pair.

Together, Jerry and Dax are...adorable, fun, loveable. I could probably go on for a while.
For those of us who read the prequel, the book starts with us seeing how they've been doing since Only One Nightstand. For anyone coming in fresh, they get to find out who Dax and Jerry are, what their lives are like and what their home/relationship situations are. It takes about 12% to set the stage, which is important because a lot happens in those pages that you don't really appreciate or realise until closer to 15%.
I'll admit – at first, it feels like a slow start, but once you get to around 13-15%, you begin to see the foreshadowing and context of everything that had to happen before we could reach a certain point. The book really picks up pace and grows more comfortable within itself when Jerry and Dax meet (again) at 12-13%.

When it comes to Michael, well...the less said the better? I hated him in the prequel. He wasn't even on page and I loathed the man for all that he'd put Jerry through. Here? Well, here there was one quote that really stuck in my teeth to remind me just how much I hated him and how right I was to hate him, because Michael is SO full of red flags and poor Jerry is just a colour-blind lovesick fool. Oh, and this all happened well before he finally appeared on page (at 34% - which, in my opinion, was still far too soon. Never would have been too soon. )
“A library. I've always wanted one. I got rid of my books when I moved in with Michael, because we didn't have the room.”
He'd called them 'clutter', like I was a hoarder and they were garbage.”

If that ^ doesn't tell me everything I ever needed to know about Michael, then I don't know what might.

Ahem. Moving on....

Side characters! I love a good cast of side characters and Scott did a brilliant job of making them, again, relatable and realistic, but also interesting, with their own lives and complexities and issues. I loved the women! I don't often get to say that about an MM or LGBT story, since sometimes women end up the villain or caricatures, but the women Scott wrote were strong, real and feisty! I loved them. From the background character of Gina, who kicked ass; Jerry's friend Zoe, who had some interesting ways of 'breaking up' with her ex; and most of all Deana.

Weirdly, though I'm not at all a grouchy person by nature, I related the most to Deana. Her inability to cope with Dax's puppy-energy and himbo nature, or suffer fools like Chad – so appropriately named because he's the biggest Chad bro-dude energy I've ever seen! – really reminds me of myself. I get the same impatient, frustrated way and have to stop myself from saying something mean just because I'm sick of repeating or explaining myself. So, I *get* Deana on a visceral level!
I really loved her complex relationship with Dax. They'd been friends forever, in a relationship for so long they can't remember being anything else, but they also need some time apart every now and then, to regroup and refresh. I actually love how mature they were about it – when they're on a break, they're not together so they can see other people, yet they're still loyal to each other in the ways that count. I also really loved how she tried so hard to understand Dax, even when it pushed her to her limits, because she genuinely loved him, in a way that went beyond their relationship.

Then there's Aaron. Dear, sweet, over-worked Aaron desperately needs someone in his life to help him unwind. I would LOVE to see that, like seriously – I'm begging here 👉👈 Please? Aaron needs someone to remind him to live outside of work, because that boy is so over-worked it's ridiculous. His coping mechanisms aren't the best, but he tries so damned hard that I really got attached to him. The way he helped Dax, and DnD, was such good friendship-goals that I melted for Aaron.

I also want to mention what good bisexual rep there was! Scott wrote Dax with such heart and depth. I loved how deeply he loved Deana, how he slowly fell in love with Jerry, and the journey that took Dax on, into discovering himself. I love that he's quite demisexual, in that he really needs a connection with someone before he can even think about being with them physically, and he's a loyal puppy who just wants to make people feel loved and wanted when he's with someone. He's not a bed-hopper and he can't even recognise when people are flirting with him, which just makes the whole himbo, cinnamon roll, golden retriever thing even more sweet. I love good, positive bi rep, and this was exactly that.

Jerry is...well, Jerry is someone I want to wrap up in a hug and squeeze until he can't breathe. Then I want to give him a good shake and ask what he was ever thinking by getting involved with someone like Michael. I think, deep down, Jerry has a fix-him problem, but it was so lovely to go on the journey with him, to see him starting to see that side of himself, to watch him grow and learn from his past mistakes to see that an alternative option was available. He didn't have to repeat old mistakes anymore, just because it was comfortable and he felt like he'd failed in his marriage. He didn't have to feel that way because it wasn't true. He'd just been in a marriage alone, which is a terrible thing to be. He'd done his best, he's stuck around, he'd worked hard and tried everything to save his marriage, but in the end, it was the journey he went on to *find himself* that mattered most, and that all began with Dax.

~

I could talk about this book all day. I stayed up until 3am to finish it and even at 11am the next day I'm still not over it. I'm going to have a book hangover from this! But it is SO worth it.

Please Like and Subscribe is surprisingly wholesome, fun and romantic. It's got heart and depth and soul, and it takes you on a journey that brings two people together who desperately need something good in their lives, who need to be loved and understood and appreciated. And they get that, from each other. It's got a final two chapters that had my cheeks sore from grinning. It's got an HEA. It's....satisfying and engrossing and all-encompassing. It makes me want to kick my feet and giggle over it for a few more hours, while I mentally run through my favourite parts again.

It's happy and sad and heartbreaking and heart-mending. Please Like and Subscribe is a rollercoaster of emotions that gave me the feel-good injection I really needed this week. And it's worked it's way onto my Best of 2024 list. I'll be reading anything and everything else Bradley Scott writes, from now on.

~

Favourite Quote

“Having Dax around was incredibly different. Not just from living alone, which I hated, but even from when Michael was here. Dax filled the space, and what he filled it with was all good stuff. Warmth. Joy. Fun.”

“Just because you wanted something doesn’t mean you took it. We’re humans, not animals.
Sure, we’d all love to do the stuff that felt good. Sleep all day. Eat cupcakes. Grab a married guy with a shitty husband and ride him until his d*ck falls off.”

I enjoyed this book, and I felt like it was a strong debut. I also felt like the prequel novella( Only One Nightstand) was really needed and not just because this was a slow burn, but because it added a layer to the story.

I enjoyed both side characters, Dax and Jerry were really cute together and they felt like the perfect fit from the get go. They really accepted each other the way they were and did not try to change each other. For about 70% of the book I was just praying for Jerry to wake up and not let Michael walk all over him. This is a me thing honestly, and not a reflection on the story, but Jerry not really having a backbone when it came to Michael really annoyed me. But I also understand why this part had to be in the book. I feel like we needed to see how he was with his (ex)husband to see how different just his friendship with Dax was. Jerry gave so much of himself to that relationship and with the way Michael was acting I didn't understand why he was still trying to make things work, but I can also emphatize with trying to work things out and not seeing the other person's flaws.
Dax was such a lovable himbo, and he could be clueless but he had a pure heart and he just wanted everyone to be happy. He was also doing everything to make it in life. His videos were very fun and I loved how he took Jerry out of his comfort zone and made him have fun(which he was missing in life).

I really enjoyed Jerry's friends Zoe and Aaron and also Dax's ex-girlfriend Dee, all three were great additions to the story. I wasn't sure about Dee and I felt like she was hiding something at the start, but that all got resolved and she was honest with Dax and they also turned into the bestest friends. It was obvious that Dee wanted the best for Dax.

As I said, I loved Jerry and Dax together. I loved that their relationship felt natural and they weren't trying to push things on each other and it felt like they were doing little things for each other just because. I'm glad that in the end Jerry realised what he wanted and fought for it. I was sad to see Dax so sad, but it was worth it in the end. Dax and Jerry had a lot of fun together and they were free and uninhibited, and I felt like Jerry really needed that in his life. The epilogue was the cherry on top and I loved reading it.

I wouls recommend this book to anyone wanting to read about tech professional trying to work on his crumbling relationship with his (ex)husband, and a himbo fitness influencer who quietly shows him every day how a relationship should be.

ARC Review: *Please Like and Subscribe* by Bradley Scott

Okay what did I just read ❤️ This book brilliantly captures the complexity of friendships, relationships, and the journey to self-discovery in a world where public personas often mask private struggles. We get to explore the emotional lives of Dax and Jerry as they navigate unexpected feelings, past relationships, and uncharted territory.

Tropes:
❤️ Roommates to lovers
🔥 Slow Burn
💙 Bi & Demi Rep
🧲 Opposites Attract
😊 Low Angst
🌶 Spicy
🏖 HEA that made Dax's followers squeal with joy

Dax’s character(a total golden retriever), a social media influencer balancing two jobs and endless side gigs, is relatable and likeable with his lighthearted charm. However, beneath the surface, he’s grappling with his recent “break” from his fiancée, facing the difficulty of forming real connections in a fast-paced world. His interactions with Jerry, who’s caught between rekindling his marriage and acknowledging a budding attraction to Dax, bring depth to their dynamic and show that love can be confusing, messy, and wonderfully unexpected.

Bradley Scott’s writing is humorous yet introspective, shedding light on the challenges of modern relationships and the healing that can happen when two people find each other at just the right (or wrong) time. With well-drawn characters, emotional vulnerability, and just the right amount of steam, Please Like and Subscribe will leave readers cheering for Dax and Jerry’s happiness!

**Highly recommended** for readers who love the above tropes! Thanks Bradley for the ARC.

If you're ready for a dose of slow-burn swoon, Bradley Scott’s Please Like and Subscribe brings all the charm! Dax and Jerry’s relationship is the definition of taking things slow, but it’s SO worth it! 😍 Dax is that perfect clueless-but-lovable himbo who lights up every page, and honestly, he makes the whole story with his warmth and cluelessness. And Jerry? He’s trying so hard to stay true to himself, even if it means putting himself last. You can’t help but cheer him on (and occasionally want to yell at him 🙈)!

And omg, the chemistry! 🔥 Even after a one-night stand months before, Dax and Jerry are so comfortable with each other, it’s adorable. Plus, Dax’s love of house plants gives him the cosiest, sweetest plant dad vibes. 🌱✨ Not to mention, Deana is the ultimate cheerleader for Dax! 💪 She’s got all the best friend vibes.

If you're into stories that make you wait (and I mean WAIT) for that romantic payoff, this one’s got it all. But tbh, I would have loved more time with Dax and Jerry together and less time on the build-up! ✨ Still, it's a perfect cosy read for romance fans!

I was lucky enough to be gifted an ARC of Please Like & Subscribe by Bradley Scott. I need to start this by saying Dax and Jerry are two of my new favorite people, and Dax especially must be protected at all costs! Dax is such a ray of sunshine and Jerry is more reserved but when things works, they work! I didn’t think I’d love this as much as I did, this is such an amazingly sweet, thoughtful slow burn of a read. I loved this approach and how genuine it felt with real mature relationship issues. The characters both main and side characters were all great; even those we aren’t meant to like were needed to show progress. I genuinely laughed at several lines and felt sadness with the angst. I was so invested in the story I didn’t realize I hadn’t encountered spice until much later (which I’m good with). Check this out for characters you’re going to root for, low angst and great storytelling. This is a great debut from Bradley Scott, I look forward to hopefully more in this world but also future works from him.

This is available now, go read this y’all! Special thanks to Bradley for allowing me to read this.

Loved Dax & Jerry so much! Dax is this adorably cute, clueless, himbo-golden retriever type, steals the scenes, the story, and your heart - and Jerry's. Loved the characters, character development, and excellent relationship buildup. A very enjoyable and swoony slow burn, although, I would have liked seeing more of Dax and Jerry as a couple, the romantic HEA & off-the-charts chemistry made up for all the waiting. Deana, Aaron, & Zoe are awesome friends to both guys, even though Dee had her moments, and it was fun & interesting, not to mention entertaining, to see what was going on with them, and Chad, and Michael - so glad that worked out as it did. Excellent debut, can't wait to see where this author takes us next!

This book truly caught me off guard. Normally, I don’t like books with cheating involved, but there is not any true cheating here. Don’t let that stop you from reading this book. It is actually very good and is all about being true to yourself and standing up for what you are worth. Dex is a giant golden retriever of a man with some serious gentle himbo energy going on and wouldn’t hurt a soul. Jerry is stuck in an estranged marriage and is attempting to make it work but the work is all one sided. He isn’t as happy as he thought he would be having his husband trying to get back in his life. The one thing that does make him smile is his roommate/friend Dex. Jerry has some work in front of him to figure out what he truly wants and stand up for himself. This was so good and I would gladly read it again and again.

Dax works as a personal trainer and streams his on again/ off again life with his girlfriend. In the past he had a one night stand with Jerry. Now in another off part he sees Jerry at a conference for influencers, advertisers, social media, etc. Only Jerry is trying to make a go of it with his separated husband but still offers Dax a place to stay. This book was a whole new world for me of influencers, a different way to think and act, always filming, everything is something to show viewers. I find it a slow burn book but there relationship was disturbing to me. I did enjoy Anita with her business cards. I loved happy go lucky Dax and his golden retriever erratic lifestyle. Jerry is an average ordinary guy, bewildered and letting his ex walk all over him. This was an interesting first book for Bradley. I received a copy of this book and this is my voluntary opinion.

amazing read!

This was an incredible read for me! And I didn’t really expect it. I am a hurt/comfort and angst kinda person and this was neither. The story felt unique (I hear there was a prequel I didn’t read which might have changed that), but I just really enjoyed the characters and the way their relationship unfolded. You really felt Dax’s golden retriever energy but it was never too much. Just like his cluelessness - it was never too much. I cannot wait to read more from Bradley. I definitely recommend this one. It is a slow burn with not a lot of spice but the spice there is done really well!

I love Dax so much! Honestly this book was everything I hoped it would be. Jerry had to learn to let go and Dax had to just keep being his amazing self. I loved their relationship and especially the friendship they built first. Dax is a very special character and I loved how perfect Jerry is for him. This book was super sweet and an absolute dream to read.

Aww, I loved this book so much! Dax is such a golden retriever! I loved his boundless enthusiasm, his zest for life and his complete joy with everything. You could just see him falling in love with Jerry with every minute they spent together and Jerry so deserved someone like Dax, he encouraged him to be freer, more spontaneous and even, to be more selfish, but in a good way.
Loved it.

Low angst, slow-burn, one night stand, roommates to lovers

Dex is sweet and oblivious.
He just finds joy in everything.
Jerry is serious, nerdy, and the steady counterpart to Dex's whirlwind.
There's an instant chemistry and connection between these two that was effortless.
These two were perfect for each other, and their evolution from friendship to lovers was filled with humor and tenderness.

I really enjoyed this book!! This is a slowwww burn friends to lovers quick read. Dax is adorable and messy and noisy and everything Jer needs but Jer is still fighting for his marriage and committed to keeping things friendly with Dax.

I absolutely loved Dee, Zoe and Aaron and their friendships with both Dax and Jer. I wish we got more questions answered about Michael but loved the way Jer handled everything in the end.

Thank you Bradley for the eARC and congratulations on a great debut MM romance novel.

I really enjoyed this book! I actually laughed out loud a couple times. I definitely got frustrated with Jerry for clinging to what seemed to be a toxic relationship. There is some explanation given further into the book thankfully. Dax though. He is the most genuine, sweetest, silly, sexy, clueless golden retriever ever. I absolutely adored him and wish he was my friend in real life. There was a good amount of plot, great secondary characters, and best of all, it kept my interest the entire time.

I really liked this story and the characters. To fully enjoy it, I recommend reading the prequel (only one nightstand) first. Its not necessary but its a part of their story.

Slowburn/roommates/oblivious character/a lot of influencer themes (streams, Posting and producing of Videos and photos for social media)/Therapie because one tries to safe his marriage

... if I see the word "sweet" one more time, I'm throwing my kindle. I always expected someone to andert Dax with 'dude', so I couldn’t really read this scenes. something Dax Was just too oblivious and really dumb, so I had to skim a few parts. And I did a search with my kindle, the word sweet was said 38 times by Dax. maybe it doesnt seem like a lot but reading it was...

After reading the prequel to "Please like and Subscribe" called "Only One Nightstand", which was a hot and beautiful read, I immediately wanted to know more about Dax and Jerry. These two books are Bradley Scott's debut and he has done a terrific job.
Although I am probably one of the less techno-knowledgeable people in this world, I just had to give myself a bit more time reading the book, to allow my brain to catch on to the world of the creative content creators and influencers as this, along with Jerry's attempt to reconcile with his husband, formed the background story. In the foreground we find Dex, again broken up with his on-again-off-again fiancé, becoming Jerry's room mate. Since we last met Jerry he recovered a lot of his self-esteem and set about transforming his previously sparsely furnished apartment.
While Jerry's husband Michael turns out to be more a hinderance rather to Jerry's and his reconciliation, Jerry increasingly finds life with Dax more and more enjoyable.
Although Dax is a definitely more on the simple side of humanity, his easy going nature and kind and beautiful character are endearing to the reader from the beginning.
Things I particularly loved about the book were:
1. Dax is a bit on the simple side of viewing and doing life, but has principles he sticks to and will accept rules set by others. Dax's character was thoroughly enjoyable and loveable and he was different to most MCs in m/m romance books. Which was very refreshing.
2. Dax is also not just a bi-sexual person, but is demi-sexual - someone who needs to have an emotional connection before they are sexually attracted to another person. The demi sexual people are not often represented in m/m literature as the author would have to work harder at establishing emotional connections before hot bedroom stuff can happen and many m/m romance books won't allow the time for this.
2. Dax's ex-fiancé is a strong female side character who is not portrayed as a beast or a horrible woman as is so often the case in m/m literature where female side characters are shown to be terrible people. Deane is a supportive ex of Dax and truly still cares for his well-being and future happiness. Because of their deep affection for each other Dax and Deane make a successful transition from fiancés to friends.
3. The depiction of various side characters was funny and interesting, among them another strong female character.
4. Jerry was also not your average "rich, tall, strong and smart" person. Considering he had been reduced to a shadow of his former self by his husband's treatment preceding the prequel, he showed his ability to change and develop and has taken Dax's easy going attitude to life to heart.
5. I love learning about new things and see books set in different arenas so the world of the influencers and creative content creators was just the ticket, as well as Dax's side line business/work situations.
6. I also loved the way both Dax and Jerry hung onto honorable conduct for way longer than anyone could have expected rather than hopped into bed straight away.
7. The HEA was particularly sweet and satisfying.

[I received an advanced copy of this book. All reviews and ratings are my own.]

Please Like and Subscribe is Bradley Scott's absolute gem of a debut novel. A delightful slow-burn with characters who instantly steal your heart and then refuse to let go. Dax and Jerry are - without question - at the top of my favorite characters list.

Dax is adorably oblivious, though almost everyone thinks he's stupid. He's not; he just sees things differently, or doesn't notice the obvious. It's actually pretty charming. But he is thoughtful and respectful, and unexpectedly insightful, and his loyalty and big-hearted warmth make him a joy to root for. Some might call him a golden retriever character, but I think he's more like a Saint Bernard. Watching him try to balance his feelings for Jerry and his promise to respect Jerry's boundaries is heartwarming and hilarious, but pulls at the heartstrings because Dax deserves a HEA.

Jerry, on the other hand, is the perfect complement for Dax - serious and a little nerdy, but steady and kind. He's also a little lost, trying to save the life he knows while being pulled toward something he's helpless to resist. The only times he has felt alive in the last several months is when he is with Dax. His journey to rediscover his self-worth and to find happiness is presented in a way that captures the complexities of letting go and moving forward.

There is a steadiness to their chemistry, a comfortableness that is organic and true. They are acquaintances at the start of the book, but their friendship is inevitable. There is a humor and a tenderness to their interactions, with just the right amount of tension to leave us wanting more. They are absolutely genuine and charming with each other. Jerry accepts Dax exactly as he is, and Dax wants Jerry to see how much more he deserves. It's low-angst - though there is a lot of internal pining - and the feel-good vibe adds so much to the charm of the story. With the exception of one scene where I wanted to shake some sense into Jerry, I didn't stop smiling throughout this book.

It's a slow burn with a well-deserved HEA that is beyond satisfying.

For a debut, this is a knockout. The writing is fresh and funny, and the MCs are instantly loveable. If you're a fan of the one night stand-to-roommates-to-lovers trope, this is a must read!

He rocked his world for one night… and his kitchen counter… We get to meet Jerry and Dax and how it all began in the short, spicy, sweet novella / prequel “Only One Nightstand”. You don’t need to have read the novella in order to read this story but I personally believe that it’s so much worthwhile… think of it as a prologue to this book.

This book! I absolutely loved it! It’s sweet, realistic, with a great sense of humor, beautiful characters and it’s messy, just like life is.
“You didn’t call.” “You told me not to.”

Oh boy, Dax. He’s sunshine! I love how his brain works or doesn’t at times ;) He’s a happy person. And he’s there, intruding Jerry’s life, guestroom and thoughts, to help him realize what happiness is. At the same time, he’s going through his own roller-coaster of emotions. “It’d be nice to see Dax again, that was all. Comforting, really. I had a lot to thank him for. That happiness was even possible for me was mostly because of that night we’d had together”
Sometimes we hold on to a relationship we should have walked away a year ago, for our own reasons. It’s not easy to let go, but in the end it is necessary. This story has a bit of everything in it and a well-deserved HEA. It’s emotional. There’s “a weird cupcake philosophy thing, something about how it’s silly to hold yourself back, and cakes are meant to be eaten”. A bit of numbers and math that’s better to just “blink and let the math slide”, so many houseplants and great advice from a fitness expert: “Yup. Eat cake, workout, it’ll be fine.”

I think we all need a Dax in our lives… as a partner or and as a best friend! Thank you very much Bradley for trusting me to read an ARC of Jerry’s and Dax’s story. It’s an honor.

This is roommates to more romance, featuring Dax and Jerry, and is book one in a series. Book two is in the pipeline.

Dax and Jerry first meet in the prequel called Only One Nightstand, it’s a hook up short story, make sure you read it first.

They reconnect when they run into each other at a social media conference and Jerry offers for Dax to come and live with him as Dax has once again having a break from his girlfriend.

Jerry is trying to reconcile with his estranged husband. He left over six months ago without a trace but has resurfaced enough to agree to go to couples counselling.

This book is low angst and a slow burn, it’s super sweet too. Dax is the oblivious golden retriever who sees the good in setting and he loves life. He breathes new life into Jerry.

There is some really funny moments in this book, the plant shopping by had me laughing so hard. There is also a lot about being a social media influencer, I found that interesting.

I loved how sweet Dax was, he really wore his heart on his sleeve. Jerry also deserved better than his estranged husband and I’m glad he finally stood up for himself.

Great supporting characters too. I’m looking forward to Aaron’s book. This is the first book for me from Bradley Scott, I’m happy to say I will be reading more. Congrats on your first offical novel Bradley.

Things to expect in this book are:
Book 1 in series
MM romance
Hookup to friends,
Roommates to more
Low angst
Slow burn
Nerd x Jock
IT developer x influencer
MC separated from husband
Second chance
Plant shopping
Golden retriever MC
Oblivious to people flirting
Bit of spice
Sweet HEA

I've been one of the lucky people to have the honor of receiving an ARC of this book and it makes me so happy because I loved it so much.
Two men meet while looking for a one night stand for different reasons, you can read about their first encounter and very steamy night in a short story called Only One Night Stand, available in Amazon.
I loved Dax , so full of light and energy. I truly enjoyed every minute that he was in the book. I also loved Jerry, though there were times I wanted to smack him on the head so he would open his eyes and see that he didn't need to look for love where he won't find it but closer than he expected.
I hate Michael with a passion. He was an awful person and wanted him to disappear and never come back, I wanted to slap him.
Then there is Deana, who I thought I was going to hate but ended up liking a lot, she was so supportive and lovely.

I really enjoyed the prequel and knew I needed to grab this one!

It did not disappoint. It was a little bit angsty, both MCs have a lot going on in their lives.

Dax is the sweetest himbo ever. He’s pretty clueless about a lot of things but he has a good heart and always wants to do the right thing.

Jerry is separated from his husband but they’re trying to work through their problems. Unfortunately, his husband is a self centered a****.

This is a slow burn story with a lot of buildup and challenges for the MCs. Jerry didn’t value himself very highly and his husband took advantage of that. There were times that I wanted to shake Jerry, but the writing was great and the story was enjoyable.

Definitely recommend!

When reading the prequel, I knew I was gona love their story. It is a slow burn; most of the story, they’re friends, but it eventually leads to more. Obviously a given with the amount of chemistry they had in the prequel. Dax is a sweetie pie and is a perfect match for Jerry. Jerry was frustrating at times, particularly with the way he allowed himself to be treated by his husband. I understand wanting to make it work, but it was in no way the best thing for Jerry. I appreciate the open communication with the two main characters, as miscommunication can be irritating when used to stall the romance. Jerry and Dax have so much chemistry and will value each other like they both deserve. Great story overall!

Dax is a himbo and plant daddy that I feel very protective of. I want to hug and squish him.
Jerry is as lovable, but at times I wanted to shake him. He is hooked on a partner that is not the best for him.
In the story you see them grow and come together in a delicious slowburn.

This book drew me in straight away. Bradley Scott is brilliant at connecting you to the characters. He has a gift to show you who they are, what their history is and where they are now. I laughed many times. It is difficult to share a quote because I would share half a page.
This is a debut book and I will keep following to see what he does next!
