Arun reluctantly agrees to move to Hyderabad to start his career, stepping out of his comfort zone, just as his father encouraged him to do. Soon, he meets Priya, a co-worker who captures his attention. As he begins to develop feelings for her, a series of surprising events make him question why life feels so unfair. Just when he’s ready to confess his love, everything changes. Little does he know, destiny has its own plans. Will Arun find the love he seeks, or will life lead him in an unexpected direction?
August Slipped Away by Mahendrawada Kamesh is the first book of a duology. I would say it’s the perfect pick for a refreshing read with accepting life as it is despite the circumstances we are facing and plan for what we should do in the coming future to move on.
This is the story of Arun who has a humble background which has taught him the importance of simple life and sincere hard work.
He falls in love but his heart gets broken. The book is not about romance but about dreams and aspirations despite the inevitable loss and failures he would face eventually.
The book is short written well with amazing life quotes. It’s really obvious to see that the author is a bibliophile with bookish references to reading and book recommendation in the story!
He is all set towards aspiring a great goal to achieve! I am praying for him! He deserves this!
Excited for the sequel which I am picking up right away!
✦ Are you that February girlie who wants a slow paced but engaging romance novella? Don't worry I got you. For your soul, I have got a fantastic romance suggestion that will stick by you through thick and thin. If you enjoyed "2 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬," you will enjoy this one as well.
✦ “𝐀𝐔𝐆𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐒𝐋𝐈𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐘” by 𝐌𝐀𝐇𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐑𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐃𝐀 𝐊𝐀𝐌𝐄𝐒𝐇. In actuality, this book is about romance. No no. Sorry. In fact, this book discusses relationships. A father son bonding. A newly formed, developing partnership. A fresh, genuine connection and all of it.
✦ The author most likely attempted to convey the essence of life in its entirety. I discovered every facet of a human life through 𝐀𝐫𝐮𝐧 𝐊𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐲𝐚𝐩'𝐬 journey because of this. Although Arun and his love for Priya take up the majority of the book, I would like to draw attention to Arun and his father's mutual understanding. I think that Arun's behavior reflects his father's hard work, which is the reason behind his simplicity. And it is very admirable and natural.
✦ In light of all of this, Arun changes more for 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐲𝐚. Change for a betterment. The persona of Priya resembles 𝐆𝐞𝐞𝐭 from Jab We Met. She is flawless, self-assured, and vivacious. I found it intriguing to learn how Arun and Priya get along. On the other hand, it also seems like a unique connection.
✦ This is the point of friends to lovers, if you want to call it that. The author didn't put enough drama to hold my breath but he actually tried to make it like a movie (as I feel). To put it simply, this book is a cozy read for February.
August Slipped Away by Mahendrawada Kamesh is a heart-touching story about love, loss, and finding yourself again.
It follows Arun Kashyap, a young man from a small village near Tirupati. His father, a humble farmer, worked hard so Arun could study well. Even though it broke his heart to leave his father alone, Arun moved to Hyderabad for a job at Ambizo Techno Solutions.
City life was a big change, but soon he met Priya, a fellow fresher at work. They quickly became friends, sharing their hobbies, going on treks, and even swapping books. Their friendship had warmth and comfort, the kind that makes you smile as you read. But office gossip made things awkward, and they began keeping some distance.
Just when Arun was settling into this new life, tragedy struck when his father passed away unexpectedly. The grief hit him hard, shaking everything he knew. At the same time, a twist in the story completely caught me off guard. It was the kind of turn that makes you stop reading for a moment and just feel it.
The book doesn’t just stay in romance. It takes you through Arun’s connection to nature, his love for trekking, and how the peace of the outdoors helped him heal. There’s also a beautiful moment where Arun meets a wise stranger whose words change his outlook on life.
By the end, Arun isn’t the same person he was at the start. He has faced heartbreak, family loss, and tough choices, but he’s also learned resilience, self-worth, and the value of living fully. This story shows that not all love lasts forever, but every love leaves a mark and sometimes the hardest chapters in life are the ones that help us grow the most.
If you enjoy stories with relatable characters, emotional depth, a touch of nature’s beauty, and a twist that stays on your mind, this one is worth reading.
"August Slipped Away" by Mahendrawada Kamesh is a neat read, especially if you're looking for a quick, engaging story. This first part of a duology introduces us to Arun, a young guy starting his career in Hyderabad, and his colleague, Priya. As Arun finds himself falling for Priya, you get pulled into a really relatable journey of love, fear, and those unexpected twists life throws at you.
The author does a good job with Arun's character – he's imperfect and feels real, which makes his aspirations and challenges relatable. Their bond, built through daily interactions and even book dates, truly deepens the narrative.
What its appreciated how the book starts as a sweet love story but then delves into deeper themes of destiny, personal growth, and even heartbreak. The office dynamics were interesting as a student myself. The writing is straightforward and flows easily, making it a super comfortable read, and the emotional nuances, like Arun's hesitation, feel authentic.
This isn't just any story; it's a genuine journey of self-discovery and romance.
The story follows Arun, a simple, grounded young man from a serene village near Tirupati. With dreams larger than his surroundings, he moves to Hyderabad, stepping into the bustling world of corporate IT. It’s a life shift many of us can relate to—leaving behind the familiar to chase a better future, fueled by ambition and the hopes of loved ones.
In this new chapter, Arun meets Priya—his colleague, a fellow fresher, and soon, an emotional anchor. Their bond begins as friendship, gentle and unassuming, but as time unfolds, deeper feelings take root. What makes their connection so special is how authentic it feels—there’s a tenderness in their conversations, a calm comfort in their shared silences. You’ll find yourself smiling through their moments together, rooting for them without even realizing it.
Just when everything seems to be aligning, life—unpredictable and unforgiving—shifts course. A tragedy strikes, shaking the very core of Arun’s world. The way the book handles this moment, and its aftermath, is profoundly real. It doesn’t dramatize pain—it honors it, allowing the reader to sit with grief, uncertainty, and the slow process of healing.
What truly stands out is how beautifully the book balances emotion and simplicity. The writing isn’t showy. It doesn’t rely on elaborate metaphors or fancy language. Instead, it speaks directly to the heart—with clarity, honesty, and warmth. The emotions feel raw, unfiltered. You’re not just reading about Arun’s experiences—you’re living them. His fear, confusion, joy, love, and sorrow become your own.
Beyond romance, this story is about growing up. It explores the complex relationships we share with our parents, friends, and even ourselves. It delves into the quiet internal battles we fight when life forces us to choose between passion and practicality. It asks us to reflect on how we deal with loss, how we carry the weight of unspoken emotions, and how we find courage in chaos.
A few lines from the book still echo in my heart:
> *“Don’t ever save anything for a special occasion. Delaying can lead you to a losing game.”*
> *“Life is a journey with unexpected twists and turns. Sometimes, the heart takes us to places we never imagined. Don’t let this setback define you.”*
These are not just quotes—they’re life lessons tucked between pages, waiting to find the right reader at the right moment.
If I had to point out anything, it would be that some characters could’ve been explored a bit more deeply. But in the grand scheme, it doesn’t take away from the soul of the book. The pace is smooth, the language accessible, and the story so deeply relatable that you can’t help but reflect on your own journey as you read.
*August Slipped Away* is a quiet emotional roller coaster—a tale of first love, heartbreak, growth, and everything in between. It reminds you that not all love stories end with forever, but that doesn’t make them any less beautiful. It’s a book for anyone who has ever let go, held on, started over, or simply tried to find themselves amid the noise of life.
Read this book not just for its story, but for the feelings it awakens. Let it move you, break you a little, and then gently remind you that life always finds a way to heal.

Arun, a young man of 23, is hesitant to move away from his hometown in order to work in Hyderabad. His father persuades him to seize the chance, and he ends up working with a girl named Priya. Arun finds it challenging to maintain his friendship with Priya as their friendship grows and he begins to feel something for her. The moving novel "August Slipped Away" by Mahendrawada Kamesh, as the first installment of a duology, examines youthful love, uncertainty, and how fate shapes our lives. It serves as a reminder to readers that life is rarely simple and that love is frequently brittle.
What is remarkable is how well the author captures the unfiltered feelings of a young man torn between his desires and the unpredictable nature of life. Because Arun's uncertainty, hesitancy, and desire are authentically conveyed, anyone who has experienced difficulties with love and decision-making can identify with him. The narrative's emotional impact endures past the last page, and the delicate romance between Arun and Priya feels natural rather than contrived. The novel's unexpected conclusion, which avoids a formulaic love story, gives it depth and increases its memorability. The author's own appearance in the book, which aids Arun in resolving his conflicts and raises the possibility that the story is real, is another noteworthy aspect. The story is made even more memorable by the fact that it is not only about love or heartbreak but also about Arun's development and acceptance of life's uncertainties.
I didn't find anything objectionable in this book.
All things considered, "August Slipped Away" is a touching and melancholic story about destiny, love, and longing. The novel's emotional honesty and reminder that not all love stories turn out the way we expect them to are its strongest points. This book will appeal to readers who like slow-burning romances with a contemplative, melancholic undertone.

𝐎𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧: ✓August is the first instalment of a duology by Mahendrawada Kamesh, focusing on the story of Arun and his colleague Priya. You’ll have to read it to find out. ✓The story is neatly divided into 25 short chapters—perfect for those looking for a quick, engaging read. ✓Having recently stepped into the corporate world myself, I found the portrayal of office dynamics incredibly relatable. ✓The author has done a commendable job with character development. Both lead and supporting characters are well-rounded and play essential roles in shaping the story. ✓The emphasis on fate and destiny gave the book a deeper, more meaningful layer, which resonated with me deeply. ✓The emotional nuances are portrayed with realism—from hesitation and self-doubt to vulnerability and love. A standout moment was when Arun holds back from confessing his feelings out of fear and uncertainty; it felt incredibly authentic. ✓Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. Mahendrawada Kamesh’s "August Slipped Away" is the kind of book that sneaks up on you like an unexpected monsoon rain—gentle at first, then pouring emotions all over the place. We follow Arun Kashyap, a small-town guy with a farmer’s heart and a software engineer’s mind, as he tumbles into the whirlwind of city life, work, and gasp unexpected love. But just as things start looking up, life throws him a plot twist that yanks the rug from under his feet. With simple prose and a no-frills storytelling style, Kamesh crafts a narrative that’s both melancholic and inspiring—perfect for anyone who’s ever felt lost in the storm of change.
One of the coolest things about this book? The 'realness'. From the legendary biryanis of Paradise Restaurant to office gossip that spreads faster than a Hyderabad traffic jam, the setting is as much a character as Arun himself. His friendship-turned-something-more with Priya is heartwarming yet tangled with life’s unpredictability, making you root for them even when fate clearly has its own mischievous plans. Plus, the book doesn’t just coast on romance—it’s a coming-of-age journey, peppered with self-doubt, grief, and the small joys of everyday connections. Oh, and did I mention the author makes a sneaky appearance *inside* the story? Meta much?
Now, fair warning—Kamesh’s writing isn’t drenched in poetic musings or elaborate metaphors. It’s simple, to the point, and sometimes even raw. If you like your books with a little extra literary 'drama', this one might take some getting used to. But if you stick with it, you’ll find little nuggets of wisdom hidden in Arun’s story, reminding you that even when life smacks you in the face, there’s always a way forward. Whether you’re here for the romance, the relatable life lessons, or just some good ol’ Hyderabad nostalgia, "August Slipped Away" is a cozy, thoughtful read. And with a sequel on the horizon? Yep, I’m already waiting.
“Life is a journey filled with unexpected twists and turns. Sometimes, the heart takes us to places we never imagined.”

‘August Slipped Away’ is an engrossing story of Arun who leaves his hometown, Tirupati to Hyderabad for the sake of his new job. There, he meets Priya, a colleague and gradually his friendship starts blooming into love as they spend time in and out of their stressful office work.
Author Kamesh Mahendrawada brings out the core human emotions through this book. He creates a world which is equal parts- raw and fictional. The characters seamlessly feel relatable. ‘August Slipped Away’ is someone’s journey through the unforgettable events of their life- and that someone is one of us. Yes, the book is that simple. The author might have taken a little inspiration from the movies as the male protagonist is presented too simple, family and life oriented whereas the female character, Priya has quiet a lot of shades, and her sketch in the book is quiet multilayered.
This book is about Arun, and all the Arun(s) in our lives, who navigate life through loss, experience love but still cant express it. It is the pain a man bares emotionally on all the bad times but this book also about hope and resilience- the never giving up attitude and actually being with yourself first through the turmoils.
‘August Slipped Away’ is an heartwarming emotional roller coaster that tends to become engrossing with every chapter. Within these ups and downs - the author has done a commendable work in keeping the readers hooked. Some authors genuinely prove, how simple writing and making the characters speak their own tale truly enchances the reading experience and communicates the core point without being too much of a mystery. If you are looking for a quick, engrossing weekend read or you are willing to crash down your slump, ‘August Slipped Away’ is one such book that needs to be in your radar.

The story is divided into 25 chapters and revolves around the life of Arun Kashyap, a young man from the lush green fields of Padma Nagar, a quaint village in Chennai. Having completed his bachelor's degree in computer science engineering, Arun secures a job in Hyderabad, Telangana, as a software engineer. Despite his apprehension about leaving his father alone, Arun accepts the job offer and moves to the bustling city of Hyderabad.
In Hyderabad, Arun meets Priya, a fellow fresher, and their friendship blossoms into a beautiful bond. Despite rumors and gossip from their office colleagues, an indescribable force keeps drawing them closer. Eventually, they embrace their friendship, choosing not to care about the opinions of others.
For readers familiar with Hyderabad, the novel offers a delightful experience by mentioning well-known places like Paradise Restaurant and RX 100 Cafe. As the story progresses, we witness the strengthening of Arun and Priya's bond, especially after the heart-wrenching demise of Arun's father.

Book Review: August Slipped Away Author: Kamesh Mahendrawada
When you like a book after reading, you feel like reading the books written by the same author. So, after finding this book from the same author, whose debut book I reviewed, I picked it up for reading and it didn't disappoint me. It looks like belonging to a new genre : Motivational Fiction
Arun, a man from Tirupati, a farmer's son, falls in love with his colleague Priya from Vizag, a daughter of a naval officer. Arun, then refuses the proposal of his father to marry Samvarshani, daughter of his friend, and an Englhsh teacher in Tirupathi.
As a bolt from the blue, his father dies which comes as a rude shock to Arun and an unethical businessman wants to set up an industry in the village and wants to grab their ancestral land which Arun does not wish to part with due to sentimental reasons.
Destiny starts showing its hand and Arun's life undergoes new twists and turns. Arun, a trekking enthusiast, gets inspired by a motivational book recommended to him by Priya and starts planning to climb Mount Everest. Suddenly you find some unexpected characters in the book and you can't help inviting and enjoying them. As in his previous book, there are management and life lessons studded in this book. The book ends at a turn of the story keeping the readers in suspense and making the readers waiting for the next. There are good thought provoking quotes too like: " Don't ever save anything for aspecial occasion."
You will like this book, if you had liked the book, "Destiny Conspired."
I congratulate the author and urge him to come up with his sequel not to keep the readers in suspense for long.
"August Slipped Away" by Mahendrawada Kamesh is enthralling and moving. It skilfully explores the difficulties of love, life, and self-discovery. As the first instalment of a duology, this book sets the tone for a poignant and thought-provoking journey.
Set against the backdrop of the serene village of Padma Nagar near Tirupati, the novel introduces us to Arun Kashyap, a talented young man who, despite his academic accolades, grapples with the challenges of stepping into a new world.
The narrative blossoms when Arun meets Priya, a co-worker who brings light and warmth into his life. Kamesh vividly depicts a blossoming romance against the backdrop of contemporary life as their relationship develops. But when Priya decides to marry Abhishek, the story takes a troubling turn, forcing Arun to face the harsh realities of love and loss.
This twist captures the essence of life's unpredictability by forcing readers to question notions of fate and choice. As Arun grapples with his feelings, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery that leads him to confront his desires and aspirations. The narrative elegantly explores themes of resilience and the complexity of human emotions, reminding us that love, in all its forms, often comes with both joy and heartache.
The author's writing style is another notable strength of the book. Kamesh's prose is fluid, engaging, and effortlessly conversational, rendering the narrative both enjoyable and immersive. The pacing is well-balanced, allowing readers to absorb the emotional intensity of Arun's experiences without feeling overwhelmed.
Overall, a great read. I would recommend this book to all.
"We live in a society where opinions are shared and gossips are exchanged."
"We overshadow the presence of our parents when they are around us, and we understand the void once they leave us forever."
"All successful people are voracious readers, and books have the power to change your life."
"Nature has a way of humbling us and putting our worries into perspective."
Arun is working very hard with her father on their farmland and in academics, too. He then got excellent marks and was awarded a gold medal. He got a job in Hyderabad, which is very far from his native place, and since he doesn't have a mother, he didn't want to leave his father. But due to his father's encouragement, he decided to pursue his career in Hyderabad.
There he met Priya and became friends with her. Though they were good friends, office talk went like they were a couple. That made them feel awkward, so they started distancing themselves. Will they be together?
Meanwhile, his father died unexpectedly, which gave Arun a big shock. What will happen to him? Will he continue his work in Hyderabad, or will he move back to his hometown? This is in the upcoming chapters.
The book started well with twists and turns, especially in the bond between Arun and his father. However, as the story progressed, I found the plot becoming somewhat predictable. While the emotional elements were touching, the narrative didn’t surprise me or leave a lasting impact. Many readers might find it heartwarming and relatable. But for me, it lacked the freshness and depth I expected. Overall, it’s a decent read, but not extraordinary.
'August Slipped Away' by Kamesh Mahendrawada is a story of real-life struggles, unexpected twists, destiny, love, and goals. It's not a simple read; rather, it's an inspirational journey of a common man toward success, positivity, and happiness.
Arun is not very comfortable or happy to leave his hometown and go to another city for his new job. His father encouraged him to accept the opportunity and to fly high. Arun is also a tracking enthusiast. His wish is to climb Mount Everest one day.
He met Priya, his colleague, and fell in love with her, but he was late to confess. When things took sudden change he couldn't cope with all the drama happening in his life and lost his focus.
While on the journey of regaining composure, he met a wise man who guided him about life lessons. The man's approach was practical and to the point. The experience shared by the stranger was exactly what Arun needed. The examples shared were brilliant and gave Arun a ray of hope.
This is my second book by the author, and both times, he has mesmerized me with his exceptional writing skills. He always comes up with real-life challenges and gives a reliable solution in the form of storytelling. Even in his first book 'Destiny Conspired', he has brilliantly given some extraordinary life lessons that helped me personally to find the perfect path. And now, with this, he has again outdone himself when it comes to inspiring young adults.
It was a motivational read for me and I am sure it will help you too.
Mahendrawada Kamesh’s August Slipped Away is a beautiful book. Why? Well, it's because this tale of love, destiny, and self-discovery is worth reading !
The novel follows Arun, a young man who must leave behind the comfort of his village and the loving presence of his father to pursue a promising career in Hyderabad. He enters into a new phase of his life. Here, he finds himself drawn to Priya.
And then, we find fate that has its own plans. It forces Arun to confront the unpredictability of life and the sacrifices that come with growth.
I foubd the novel dealing with Arun’s inner turmoil, torn between his responsibilities and personal desires. His deep bond with his father is one of the most touching aspects of the story, portrayed with warmth and authenticity.
Favourite Scene: ....."The scene where they sit together in the fields, sipping tea as the sun sets, is especially poignant. His father’s unwavering support, despite his own longing for Arun’s presence, adds emotional depth to the narrative....."
Another compelling section is Arun’s backstory, where we see his simple yet fulfilling life in Padma Nagar. His love for hiking in the Tirumala hills and his hardworking nature, shaped by years of helping his father on the farm, make him a relatable and admirable protagonist. The contrast between his peaceful village life and the bustling world of Hyderabad highlights the theme of change and adaptation.

Book Review: August Slipped Away by Mahendrawada Kamesh Rating: 3.8/5
August Slipped Away is one of those quiet reads that takes you to places without much asking, but sticks with you for long after. It is about Arun, a happy go-lucky guy from a village, who moves to Hyderabad for work in a corporate company, stepping out of his comfort zone under his father's encouragement. His relationship with his father is the story’s core, and when tragedy strikes, his experience of loss and rededication seems raw and real.
What I love most about Arun is how human he feels. He is not a perfect hero, but rather a guy trying to figure out what to do with the mess life throws in his direction. His friendship and feelings towards Priya, the grieving for his father's passing and the gradual healing process with the support of those around him, it all felt sincere and believable.
The writing is straightforward and emotional, and often gives the experience of flipping through someone’s diary. There is no rush to mend a broken heart or clean up all the mess.. And that’s what sets it apart.
That said, some parts of this story were somewhat predictable. And also Arun’s career and relationship transitions could have been more deep. And perhaps the ending will strike some readers as plain, but maybe that’s the point, life doesn’t always come as a gift wrapped perfectly.
If you've ever struggled to move on when life didn't go your way or experienced silent grief, This book could easily connect with you.
August Slipped Away is a lovely narrative of venturing out of your comfort zone and into the uncertain whirlpool of life. At its center stands Arun, a down-to-earth, uncomplicated young man from a small village in and around Tirupati, who sets out to Hyderabad in pursuit of a brighter future. With hope in his heart and dreams in his eyes, he embarks on his corporate career in the frenzied world of IT.
But life, as is its wont, has other things in store.
In the din of city life and the stress of a new job, Arun crosses paths with Priya a colleague whose face slowly becomes a reassuring presence. Their relationship starts softly, deepening into something richer, more substantial. Just when all seems to be going right, calamities strike from nowhere, shaking the very roots of Arun's aspirations.
What makes this book unique is how real and raw it is. The setting, the emotions, the relationships everything is relatable. The writing does not try to impress with complex words; rather, it speaks directly to your heart. It catches the vulnerability of loving, the hurt of loss, and the courage it requires to build again.
Arun's quest isn't romantic it's about finding yourself. It's about discovering sanity in madness, and having the guts to chase your heart no matter what's crumbling around you.
August Slipped Away is a soft, poignant book that stays with you long after you've read the final page. It's ideal for anyone who's ever been forced to let go, begin anew, or find themselves again.
"Destiny, if it exists, is a complex web of possibilities. It's up to us to make the most of the opportunities that come our way, and who knows, maybe some of those encounters will turn out to be life-changing."
Life's journey is complex, marked by varied phases and fluctuating experiences. And, despite everything, it demands the patience of an individual to keep on moving. The joy, the grief, the excitement, the disappointment, the gain and loss; all of this takes its toll on the person and builds his/ her personality.
The story is about Arun, who was the son of a farmer who had big dreams for his son. Arun went Hyderabad to complete those dreams. Their he met Priya and his heart sung the love song. But, then the life happened... Arun lost his father followed by Priya who got married leaving Arun to piece back the pieces of his falling life. Arun started trekking, taking a step towards his forever dream of climbing the Mt. Everest, which helped him to take control of his emotions, life and work.
Along the way, Arun met Samvarshini, a gentle reminder of the beautiful life. Will the love come back to Arun? Would he able to build his life again from grief and loss?
The author has beautifully narrated the story with short chapters and thoughtful character build up which relates with readers on the personal level.
'August Slipped Away' is a compelling story and first instalment of the August duology. The book delves into the themes of love, destiny, loss, self-discovery and healing. A tale of emotional depth and heartfelt narrative.
Arun Kashyap was raised by his father in the peaceful surroundings of Tirupati, where the sounds of rural life reverberate across the valleys. His early years were characterised by the sweet recollections of his mother, who passed away far too soon.
Arun had aspirations that went well beyond the fields, despite the bucolic attractiveness of his childhood. He was drawn to the bustling city of Hyderabad, where he would work at Ambizo Techno Solutions, and the high peaks of the Eastern Ghats.
Equipped with a degree in computer science engineering, Arun took comfort in solving complex algorithms during the week and scaling difficult terrain on the weekends. Trekking turned into his haven, a blank canvas on which he wrote his aspirations for exploration and self-awareness. However, amidst the incessant bustle of work life, another desire emerged—a desire for friendship, a love that would blend harmoniously with his goals.
Let me introduce Priya, a vibrant individual from Visakhapatnam whose photography skilfully caught the vibrant colours of life. In addition to her technical expertise, she brought a contagious energy to their workplace that made the drab office hallways come alive. Initially focused on project timetables and deadlines, their discussions veered into whispered dreams and common passions. Their relationship bloomed like the first rays of dawn illuminating a quiet countryside through the gentle dance of everyday exchanges.

Cue this, you have been so in tune with the primary pillars in your life, that when they flow you flow, you do have your hobbies to aspire to, but when people come into your life, you move intune with them. That's great and all, but when life crashes and burns with others leaving, you are lost in the circle of depression with no way out. How do you plan on navigating a way out, when ego protecting you might not let you ?
Well, this book might nudge a way out, with its simple prose and short narrative focusing on the character Arun and the circle of life he is going through due to anticlimactic events putting a stop to his ebb and flow.
This book did take me by surprise. I was expecting the usual angst filled narrative, but the author changed the flow by subtly enhancing the equations around Arun, like him meeting unexpected strangers as he is a people-led person, making all the difference to story, coining it to become a kind of an inspiration for others to move forward. I was actually inspired by many moments too.
Coming to the only con, the writing definitely needs some time to get used to, as it's very straightforward with no frills, maybe sorrowlaced at times but maintained till the end, which might not be everyone's cup of tea, but you should give it a chance as you might find some sweet nuggets to help you make peace with life.
Being a Hyderabadi, reading about AP and Telangana was a big bonus. I am looking forward to Part 2.
The novel August Slipped Away by Mahendrawada Kamesh is a gripping and intensely emotional work that masterfully conveys the ambiguities of life, love, and self-discovery. The plot centers on Arun Kashyap, who, at his father's encouragement, reluctantly leaves his comfort zone to pursue a profession in Hyderabad. The book starts out as a love story but quickly develops into something much deeper—an examination of destiny, personal development, and life's unexpected twists.
The difficulty of adjusting to a new environment is depicted in the book quite well, especially the change from a small-town background to an urban one. Arun is a likable protagonist because of his hardships, goals, and changing relationships. Romantic excitement is added by the entrance of his coworker Priya, but fate steps in just as he is ready to reveal his love, resulting in unexpected turns that keep readers interested.
The most interesting character is undoubtedly Arun Kashyap. He is really inspirational and relatable because of his journey of venturing into the unknown, overcoming heartbreak, and discovering purpose in life.
I suggest August Slipped Away to those who appreciate stories that make them think about love, trouble in the workplace, and unexpected roads in life. It is an unforgettable read because of the captivating narrative, fully realized characters, and authentic feelings. To continue this adventure, I am looking forward to the sequel.
“Life is a journey filled with unexpected twists and turns. Sometimes, the heart takes us to places we never imagined.”
"August Slipped Away" by Mahendrawada Kamesh opens the door to a quietly passionate tale of love, fate and the tenuous connections to our past. Love, in its many forms and thus more than just romantic, is the focus of Kamesh's exploration of Arun, a young working professional caught in the chaotic scape of a career and personal upheaval in Hyderabad. Grief and uncertainty, fragility and hope, are conjured by Kamesh in visceral terms, very simply, yet they evoke strong feelings. The narrative flows in a manner more like a memory, sometimes sharply defined and sometimes soft and plain vague, reflecting the waxing and waning of Arun's self-awareness. The relationship between Arun and Priya is genuine and warm but on a smaller scale, the facets of his relationship with his father and how the city evolves sprout from the warmth of the story itself. Accompanied by something disturbing, it also had a certain unforgettable quality. Kamesh does not short-circuit the healing journey and instead invites us to witness the raw, awkward mess of existence. It is not just a love story but an intensely ponderous reflection on how we move forward from loss and how memory shapes one's concept of self. Highly recommended to anyone who wades through stories that stay with you long after closing the last page, as was my experience.

Overall, "August Slipped Away" is a compelling novel that offers a relatable and emotionally engaging reading experience. Its focus on everyday challenges and triumphs makes it a worthwhile read for those seeking a heartfelt and inspiring story.
The book is a romance book, just like Taylor Swift's song, but it is also more. It is a journey that shows how life can be unpredictable, heartbreaking, at the same time full of hope and beauty. And we witness it all through Arun's pov.
Arun a small town boy started his career in Hyderabad leaving behind his old life and father. Then he lost his father, lost hope but fell in love and lost that again. And we get to see if he finds that love and is able to fill the void in his heart.
What I like about the book is Arun's character. He has his goal, passion and how he works for it. His love for his father and his old village. I also like the character of Priya and other characters we are introduced to here. Cause they are well developed and very relatable.
Another thing I love is how the scenic beauty is portrayed by the author here through Arun's trekking hobby as well as in general introduction of the places. It actually makes me want to go on a trek myself. So I have to give huge credit to the author.
The two things I feel slightly off about the book is the conversation between characters, which I feel a little bit archaic at times. Another one is the time jump between two scenes. Both of them get time to use it. But overall I enjoyed the story and I think I want more.
