Algernon

Rate this book
Take one anteater who discovers chocolate covered ants & see what he will do to keep a supply!!

Algernon is an anteater, but he is a very ingenious one...He not only loves ants, but especially chocolate covered ones. So, to find a supply of his new favorite food, he not only learns to read and to stand up tall, and to consequently join the circus!

This children's book is delightful, with a refreshing commentary describing Algernon's thoughts and his precocious stream-of-consciousness asides...

5.0 out of 5 stars Adorable story.
This was an adorable story about a not-so-ordinary anteater named Algernon, who discovered a new food that turned his whole world upside down. It was fun to read and left me with a smile on my face. Nice job.

This is such a fun and cute story! Algernon the anteater discovers chocolate covered ants and is determined to find a way to get more of the delicious treats! He’s a very clever anteater and has lots of perseverance to do what no anteater has done before. This story is a quick fun read for an adult, and a great story for a child with nice pictures and a good message.

I just love Algeron and his love for chocolate covered ants. He didn’t care if they were regular ants or spicy ants. This short story is so cute with meaning of reaching goals. I love how the author put pictures in the book to engage children and readers the importance of achieving what’s truly important to him.

What a lovely story about perseverance in order to reach one’s goals. Cute and fun for many ages.
I especially loved the description of the McGuffy’s Reader holding up the sand on the back wall so it doesn’t get on the carpet in the burrow.
The lesson about shies coming true can still have strings attached to them is a good lesson!

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful Children's story
I read this with my Granddaughter and we both agreed Algernon is silly. We laughed when Algernon discovered chocolate covered ants which leads him on a quest to get more. Hus adventures and perseverance make a delightful story that we will read over and over again.

5.0 out of 5 stars what a unique and entertaining tale
What a cute short story that not only was entertaining but centers on an important message. A message that was told through a unique and intriguing tale using an anteater and his love of chocolate ants. Loved Algernon's determination and philosophy. Loved how he went about deciding what was important to him and about how he was willing to accept a compromise in order to achieve what truly was important to him.
