A letter to Rod Stewart resulting in a Cinderella birthday for her daughter sowed the seeds of New York Times and USAToday bestselling author Jean Brashear's writing career. A lifelong avid reader, at the age of forty-five with no experience and no training, she decided to see if she could write a book. It was a wild leap that turned her whole life upside down, but she would tell you that though she's never been more terrified, she's never felt more exhilarated or more alive. She's an ardent proponent of not putting off your dreams until that elusive 'someday'—take that leap now.

Over fifty published novels later, the five-time RITA finalist and RTBookReviews Career Achievement Award winner has accumulated a whole passel of war stories to swap and loves nothing better than talking writing and books with readers and fellow writers.

And she'd still take that leap, war wounds and all.

Audiobook Review: Texas Danger (The Marshalls) by Jean Brashear (Author), Eric G. Dove (Narrator)

She needs a hero. Is he it? Samantha and Chase have nothing in common. He's a working cowboy. She's a society girl. He's struggling to save the family business. She's running for her life. Neither want to need each other, but their circumstances prove that they do. Can the rancher and debutante escape everything that's holding them back and build something that's true? Texas Danger is built on minefields and manipulations, heartbreaks and revelations. Brashear guides us through the danger zone with skillful precision, while Dove excites with masterful, action packed narration.

This book is just as good as an audio book as it is as an ebook.

I read the ebook about 4 years ago. Cole and Sammie have such great chemistry. Sammie was very down to earth and possessed an inner strength that I don't think she realized was a part of her.

Cole was the quintessential knight in shining armour, and he also did not see himself in that role.

The story was full of romance, sexy times, danger, action and suspense. There were a number of "edge of your seat" moments. So you really look forward to Cole and Samantha's HEA.

The book was well written, and Eric Dove's narration keeps you equally as engaged as the ebook. I hate to do laundry, but I managed to get it all done while listening to this book. It was not a chore this time.

I voluntarily listened and reviewed this audio book.

So enjoyed this box set.
Narration was awesome.
Loved all the characters that brought this series together.

Quinn and Lorie’s story was so dear to my heart in the way Quinn is so attuned to himself and the universe. The drama in the story kept you guessing at what was happening next and kept me reading/listening to the last page, hunger to get on to the next in the series.

Josh and Elena’s story starts out a bit funny in the way that she keeps running from him. But he means to keep his woman. Loved this one as well as it introduced past lives and soul mates, also dear to my heart. Again couldn’t wait to get to the end and start the next book.

Case and Sammie’s story was a great read also. Having powerful people after you is a good reason to say nothing and hide. But the strong characters in this book were more powerful. Sammie in the end ready to face her past to move forward.

I liked Texas Star and the suspense. In my opinion Jean Brashear did a good job with it. I liked Josh and Elena together. I loved that Elena wanted to protect Josh and his family and she made the decision to enter the belly of the beast. I loved how Josh's protective side for Elena and his family. The one thing I did not like was the repetition of how Elena and Josh were not good enough for each other, it was very annoying. The dreams Elena had got a little annoying and made the Texas too long. I enjoyed the action, especially at the end. Overall I enjoyed and was entertained.

This is the third book in the Marshall family stories. Case Marshall crossed path with Samantha St.Claire while she was running away from danger and possibly being killed. Both Case and Sammie were involved in the same trouble but did not know each other until she ran into him at a truck stop and he jumped right in to try to save her. This is the best of the three stories and I really enjoyed it.

I’ve just finished the three The Marshalls books and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed each one. Jean Brashear manages to have a nice combination of romance, intrigue and action. I will definitely be reading more of this Authors work.

I absolutely love the narrator, Eric G, Dove!

Samantha is in danger, trying to run and hide, but has no idea what to do to keep herself safe. Case happens upon her and wants to help her despite his own issues. They are from opposite worlds but truly compatible. A great read.

I read this book for a RRRC group challenge where we rated based on the genre and the romance of the story. My official GR rating is 3 stars but for the rating for the challenge was 2 1/2 stars as below:

Genre ★★ - this book was partially set in Texas and on a working ranch but was really more romantic suspense than western. The H was a rancher and his characterization as well as the parts that were set on the ranch were what I'd expect for the genre but the true focus of the book was on the suspense plot (besides the romance, of course).
Romance ★★★ - I've read most of this series/sub-series and have enjoyed them all but have not luuuuurved. They are good reading but nothing I'd re-read and if the author continues to add to the series, I doubt I'd fall all over myself to get them. Regardless, the romance was sweet, there were sexy times (really only one full scene) and I believed in the HEA. I thought there was more telling than showing when it came to the h trying to 'figure out a solution' to her problems herself - this was repeated often but the h never really DID anything. I will say though that I liked how she fought back when she was captured - she didn't just sit and cry and whine. She fought and actually tried to escape her bindings herself. There was some growth to the characters but internal conflict wasn't really the focus of the book - their conflict was mostly external and was happily and believably resolved. It was a solid 3 stars.

ALL OF THE BOOKS IN THIS SERIES HAVE BEEN WRITTEN VERY WELL WITH GREAT STORY LINES. THEY HAVE SHOWN HOW POWERFUL LOVE IS AND WHAT FAMILY MEANS, EVEN THOUGH FAMILY MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN YOUR BLOOD. THE FAMILIES ARE CLOSE AND SHOW A GREAT DEAL OF COURAGE WHEN IT COMES TO EACH OTHER. THAT CONNECTION CAN HAPPEN OVER TIME AND IT'S A FEELING OF COMPLETENESS. THESE STORIES OF THE MARSHALL FAMILY ARE SO SATISFYING TO ME BECAUSE I FEEL THAT WAY ABOUT MY FAMILY. THIS FEELING OF COMPLETENESS WILL GET YOU OVER ALL THE RUFF SPOTS WHEN YOUR LOVE ONES START TO DWINDLE DOWN TO A VERY PRECIOUS FEW.
I FORGOT TO MENTION MS. BRASHEAR CAN REALLY, REALLY WRITE A SEXY LOVE SCENE, THE WORDS ARE SO HOT YOU-CAN-FEEL-DA-HEAT! BRAVO! ;D

This is Case Marshall's story. Another Marshall with a white knight complex. Sammie is in a world of trouble. She leaves everything & everyone she loves in order to keep them safe. Case is trying to save the ranch. It is in trouble because of Sammie's uncle. As everything is coming to a head, Case realizes he is in love. He does everything to save her. Her wealthy family comes to respect him. Love the ending. The women ogling their spouses. Quinn & Josh tell Case they don't hold his father against him.

Case and Sammie show that opposites do attract! They couldn't have been raised differently not only in the types of families but the location and financial circumstances. But what they come to realize, with the help of friends and family in Louisiana and Texas, is that what matters is the here and now. What happened in the past only helps make you the person you are today but your current actions define the future!

Anyone who stumbles upon this writer will thank their lucky stars. Jean has a way of writing that will pull you into the pages and won't let you put down the book until you're done.

This is another of her great books and she definitely has me following her writings from this point forward.

Great read!

Very fast paced. This book didn't seem to fit completely in the series, it felt more like a stand alone book due to there was no real tie in until the end. All in all another great read by Jean Brashear.

Easy series to read - enjoyable but lacking something. Not sure what but it seems the male and female characters are always at odds and don't like each other then magically fall in love. A bit unbelievable but I guess they do say opposites attract.

Great book and once again the threat of suspense throughout the story keeps the reader riveted. Love Case's macho in helping Sammie and how he is determined to protect her. Great job Jean on this series.
