Chuck Morgan attended Seton Hall University and Regis College and spent thirty-five years as a construction project manager. He is an avid outdoorsman, an Eagle Scout, and a licensed private pilot with a passion for camping, hiking, mountain biking, and fly-fishing.
Morgan is the author of Her Name Was Jane, a memoir about his late wife’s nine-year battle with breast cancer. Morgan has three children, two grandchildren, and two dogs. He resides in Lone Tree, Colorado.
Chuck Morgan, the author, delivers a spine-chilling blend of history, mystery, and suspense in Resurrection: The Deadly Mission. Beginning with a gripping setting and never once letting go, this novel is an electrifying journey that convincingly blends today’s danger with World War II treason in such a clever way.
Looking at lessons, the novel shows readers that greed is bad and that one has to face unpleasant realities or something to that effect. It also emphasizes the spirit necessary to confront the feeling of fear, a concept that is seen in the investigation carried out by a Sarah Carter, an FBI agent.
There’s tension as one begins to see odd debris on the shore; rumors of a sunken U-887 Nazi submarine resurface. The thought that during the storm something ancient and evil has been unleashed makes the mystery engaging.
The intended readership of this novel includes die-hard lovers of thrillers, history lovers, and readers interested in speculative mysteries. The writing is also straightforward, with an emphasis on action and suspense.
Thus I wasn’t confused or shifted in my perceptions while reading. It follows a proper plot, and while Sarah explores the clues, one directs to the next properly.
In Resurrection: The Deadly Mission, the author demonstrates that he is really an extraordinary writer in this genre. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to read a sensible and completely riveting novel.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I am not going to reveal any spoilers for this a stand alone thriller sci-fi from the well known author Chuck Morgan's 13 Buck Taylor series on Amazon. I haven't read any of Chucks previous books; unfortunately I found the writing style lacked depth, many unanswered questions such as why did the submarine crew come back as women !, lacking in tension to the point of I couldn't care less about New York being destroyed or if Sarah lived or died. The plot was good with some novel ideas but didn't quite turn itself into a believable story. I did get irritated with repetitive sentences every few paragraphs that told me nothing new, discourse between characters was scratchy at best. I felt that the having the historical background first would of set the scene better and paved the way to a better narrative as the description between the US naval ships and the last Nazi submarine were much superior to the rest of the book. It doesn't take long to read so please give it a try.
Resurrection: The Deadly Mission by Chuck Morgan is a fast-paced, gripping science fiction thriller. The story is centered on FBI Special Agent Sarah Carter as she confronts one of the most harrowing challenges of her career. The story begins with the shocking discovery of a Nazi submarine, thought to have been lost during World War II, suddenly surfacing in present-day waters. She receives a strange call from a naval officer, warning her of the submarine's dangerous cargo: an atomic bomb. Sarah discovers the mission of the crew that has been on board the ship for the past 80 years. She uses her skill and determination to race against time to stop them before they destroy the unsuspecting city, but would she succeed? I recommend this book to readers who enjoy thrillers with historical and ethical depth.
The historical detail and the "what if" was a wonderful start to the book but it lacked in execution. There was a scene in the wrong place and many areas that the author was explaining what the characters were thinking or trying to justify about their actions. These would run on for numerous paragraphs and then after a few more scenes, the same stuff would be repeated.
I almost didn't finish it but stuck it out. I could tell the author had put a lot into it but wish he hadn't kept repeating things.

I rate this book four out of five stars. Despite the complexity of the narration, the main plot remains clear and compelling. The historical background did lack some depth while being tailored to World War II. Some of the lessons learned from the book are the importance of persistence even in the face of certain odds throughout Sarah’s life, the consideration of decisions, and how collaboration and trust in others can lead to extraordinary results
Time stood still for a moment in history, and the rest of the world continued to move. Suddenly, a storm appeared out of nowhere and stirred up what was hidden in the depths of the ocean. If reading these lines piques your interest, then you will enjoy Resurrection: The Deadly Mission by Chuck Morgan.
The setting is New York City in the year 2024. An electrical storm and a severe lightning strike made FBI agent Sarah Carter feel the chills. After causing the city to plunge into darkness. But that wasn't all the storm caused.
An enemy returning for revenge with all the hate that the world tried to bury for years. Between Sarah's search for a ghost from the past and a long-lost weapon in the depths of the ocean. Moreover, a dangerous mission postponed for eighty years portends destruction.
The events continue as we return to the year 1945 at the end of World War II. When Captain Christiaan Richter and the U-boat crew took over sub U-887 command to carry out a mission that could rewrite history. Organizations want to exploit the weapon, doubt, and persistence; thus, events follow one another.
Throughout thirty-six chapters, the author was able to take me into a world of fantasy that linked the present and the unknown of the past.
The composition of the characters made the story flow smoothly, as each character had a precise description and a specific role. You won't feel confused but connected and understand the feelings associated with each situation. Characters as Admiral Hawthorne, Captain Monroe, and Doctor Mueller.
One of the distinctive points is that the author didn't make Agent Sarah a superhero. On the contrary, he portrayed her as a normal human being who feels fear and hesitation sometimes and has the courage to confront when necessary.
The layout was well-organized, and I felt like I was holding an actual book. In addition, the writing style is thrilling, blending mystery and suspense.
Relying on the theory of time freezing while at the same time bending its use created a twist that sparked my curiosity towards the storyline.
The cover is beautiful, and I think that adding some illustrations expressing some elements of the story between the pages with the same degree of lighting and colors would give it more vibe.
Two things I would have preferred as a reader so I could track my reading progress. The table of contents and page numbering are two elements that my copy lacked.
The story is suitable for audiences starting with teens, as it contains many appealing themes, such as threats, danger, sci-fi, and secrets.
A fictional story that weaves the mystery of the past into the present. Showing adherence, survival, courage, fear, and choices. All makes Resurrection: The Deadly Mission a good reading choice.
Chuck Morgan's "Resurrection: The Deadly Mission" is a gripping fusion of historical intrigue, science fiction, and high-stakes suspense. The novel unfolds in a breathtaking narrative where the past collides with the present, leaving readers on the edge of their seats.
The story begins in 2024, with an ominous electrical storm resurrecting a Nazi submarine from the depths of the North Atlantic. The U-boat, frozen in time for 80 years, reemerges with a sinister mission: to detonate an atomic bomb in New York City—a task assigned to its crew by Hitler himself during the waning days of World War II. FBI Special Agent Sarah Carter is thrust into this extraordinary crisis, navigating a complex web of danger, history, and urgency to thwart a decades-old threat.
Morgan masterfully alternates between timelines, juxtaposing the tense present-day mission with the haunting backstory of Captain Christiaan Richter and his crew in 1945. This dual narrative enriches the novel, offering a nuanced exploration of duty, loyalty, and the weight of unfinished missions. The historical flashbacks are vividly detailed, drawing readers into the fraught atmosphere of World War II, while the modern-day storyline delivers heart-pounding action.
The character of Sarah Carter shines as a determined and resourceful protagonist. Her relentless pursuit to stop the resurrected submarine mirrors the resilience of those who face unimaginable challenges. Similarly, Captain Richter and his crew are portrayed with depth, evoking both sympathy and unease as they grapple with their macabre resurgence and unyielding commitment to a bygone cause.
Morgan's writing is crisp and evocative, seamlessly blending historical authenticity with speculative elements. The tension is palpable throughout, with each twist and revelation escalating the stakes. The premise—a Nazi submarine reanimated by a freak electrical storm—might sound fantastical, but Morgan's skillful storytelling grounds it in believability, making the narrative all the more compelling.
"Resurrection: The Deadly Mission" is not merely an action-packed thriller; it’s a thought-provoking exploration of how unresolved histories can resurface to challenge the present. It delves into themes of memory, legacy, and the enduring impact of past decisions on the future. Fans of historical thrillers and speculative fiction alike will find this book an enthralling read.
In conclusion, Chuck Morgan delivers a standout novel that seamlessly intertwines history and suspense, with a protagonist readers will root for and a plot that never lets up. "Resurrection: The Deadly Mission" is a must-read for anyone who enjoys a thrilling blend of history and high-stakes drama.
I wanted to love this book... But I'm afraid it didn't live up to its potential for me. I found the plot interesting but the delivery wasn't right for me. I felt the prose was repetitive in a number of places and the characters lacked autheniticy and depth, for me. There were places where I felt the characters were accidentally misgendered but the nature of the plot was that it wasn't clear if that was deliberate. I was left with plot questions when I finished.
If this were to be edited and attempted again I would be interested to see how it turned out. The premise was interesting. Sorry!
