Working for Prima, an organization created to help right wrongs, she thought she was on the right side only to be manipulated by the leader of the company into stealing an ancient knife belonging to the one species on the planet that she had been avoiding at all costs...the Fey. It wasn't that she didn't like the Fey. Oh, she liked one particular Fey a little too much. It was her fear of those feelings that has had her keeping her distance. Because he was not just any Fey but their Dragon bound Prince who wants to claim her as his mate. With her friend's life on the line she must travel to Scotland, seduce a Prince, and try to steal one of his people's relics. Only, nothing goes as planned. Her over-bearing brother in law, the Vampire King, sends an escort aiming to not only protect her but date her as well. She finds the Prince still has the same hold on her as before and that stealing from him is a lot harder than imagined. Things go horribly awry in the back alley of a Glasgow street and now she has another friend in need of her protection. How will she juggle the lives of her friends while evading the one man her body craves like no other? Not to mention surviving the mission while being attacked at every corner. At least she has Brimstone to send those Demon back to Hell where they belong.
This is book one of the Forged by Magic Trilogy. Iron Made - Book two is currently available. Ange Noir - A prequel novella will be released Nov. 1, 2013 Dragon's Flame - Book three will be released Dec. 1, 2013

I recently found myself taken by an Urban Fantasy mood. I had nothing lined up so I turned to Amazon for inspiration. After aaaages browsing through book after book, I found Brimstone. Admittedly, the cover did not grab me but hey, it's not the first time (or even the 500th time) that I was leery over an urban fantasy book cover. However, the blurb COMPLETELY suckered me in. In fact, it had me at the word 'Fey'. My most beloved of all 'other-world' creatures. There's just something so romantic and whimsical about the Fey.
I ended up devouring all three book in the Forged by Magic Trilogy in just three days. I loved it THAT much. It had all the elements that make up a great urban fantasy for me; magic, intrigue, fascinating non-humans, hot hero and kick-ass heroine!
The background story we got on this book was minimal, to be fair. At times I felt like I was missing a book that explained to me whats actually going on. The background story that we did get though made for an amazing introduction to this world and this story. It drew me into the story and connected me with the heroine in the best way.
The romance was hot and swoony but I didn't find that the story lacked because of it, which is a big thing for me in a urban fantasy series. I LOVE the romance and it needs to be there but I also love experiencing the world and getting lost in the adventures of our characters. This story had the perfect balance of both adventure and romance.
There were a couple of plot holes that I either missed (god I hope not) or that remained unanswered. Perhaps this was done purposefully but I'm unsure of that at this point. There is another series written by this author called the Avery Tywella series that is a continuing series but based in the same world. Many of the characters bridge across both series so I'm absolutely dying to get my hands on this series and read more from this world! I'm officially adding S. L. Gavyn to my 'favorite UF authors' list!
Story had potential but the editing or lack of absolutely ruins it. Wall after wall of text, needs to be broken up into more appropriate paragraphs. Huge, run-on sentences, not a comma to be found, and in other spots there are half-sentences. Spelling errors are glaring (its on the LAM, not lamb). Random capitalization of some words (races like Demon I understand, pet names and Of Course...why?)
I don't mean to rip this apart; as I said the story had potential, and from other reviews a lot of people clearly aren't as technical as I am, but the sheer amount of technical no-nos are too distracting to me and I regret I couldn't enjoy it at all.
Well written, intriguing, and completely magical! The world setting in this series is quite clever, being in a different realm than ours, but almost the same except for magic and mythical beings. The main character Genevieve is a spunky warrior who doesn't take anything from anybody. Even so, she has a good heart and tries her best to right wrongs and help people in need. Brimstone has mysteries, betrayal, heartache, and magic in spades!
1. Couldn’t get past grammar errors and typos 2. The main character is supposed to be old and smart, so why she behaves like a stupid meek sheep? “What choice do I have?” 3. Scottish is super annoying and kinda stupid 4. Manipulating boss? Phleeezzzee...
Wow.....I think I am addicted to Rayn and Genivieve!!! I was pulled into this book from the very first page and I'm so thankful I got a chance to read!! But now Im craving the next book!!
"He started to point to my backside and I grabbed his hand, twisted it behind him and rammed his face into the desk. 'I don't like butterflies and if you ever try to touch me again I will leave you in pieces. Feel me?'"
I love Genivieve's personality. She the type of girl who kicks a$$ and takes names, while running her mouth with whatever come to her mind. No filter!! While she definitely knows how to defend herself from just about everything out there, she has had a hard time getting to the person she is today. Her past has made her strong and changed her life completely. Although she may look like your average pretty human female, she is anything but. Forced into her Fey life, she helps those who need it with an organization called Prima. She is what is known as an Instrament. She is a weapon Prima uses to deliver justice.
"He is extremely attractive. Definitely a ten on the scales. The last time I saw him (which was over two and a half centuries ago) he had shoulder length black hair that he liked to keep tied back with a piece of leather, green eyes the shade of fresh dewed grass and the massive body of a Fey warrior."
Prince Rayn Dubhshaine, smoothe talking, strong-minded, heir to the throne. It would seem he has everything he could ever want. Everything except the one woman that doesn't want anything to do with him. The one woman destined to help the Fey prosper. His mate. "Ruler of an entire nation of people who just happen to be the baddest of the bad when it come to fighters." He strives to do what is best for his people. Being binded with a Dragon gives him extra strength and speed he needs to bring his dying race to a better future. But a part of him I missing. She is missing.
An assignment from The Prima bring these two together and a usual, sparks fly!! Vieve isn't ready for what Rayn wants. And Rayn can hardly control his Dragon when he finds out that a hit is made on his mate. But with an Oracle's premonition of "Those who were your allies are no more" hanging in the air, who can these two trust? I can't wait to find out what happens next!!!
***********SPOILERS*********** (Disclaimer: Read at own risk)
This book was amazing! I loved every single minute of reading it! I absolutely loved Genevieve and her mysteriousness. Rayn? Not so much after I found out that he know and acknowledges Genevieve as his mate, but has a consort that is the sister of Sheryl. The backstabber who almost kills Genevieve at the end of the book. So yeah...
This book has so many interesting elements to it, that I could hardly contain my excitement sometimes. She was a Human from another dimension and brought to the one in the book not of her own free will, but by a Troll. And when she crosses over the portal, she changes into a Fey. I mean how cool is that? (Obviously I'm not talking about her being kidnapped)
And then, there's the fact that she not only turn into a Fey upon coming here, but she turns into one of the most powerful Fey alive. Sadly though, the Fey nation are starting to die out due to a curse put on the Fey women.
I had not problems whatsoever with the book and would definitely recommend this book to everyone who love paranormal books.
I’m really not one for fantasy genre books but this story might change my mind. This story has everything needed in a good book. It has action, adventure, romance, suspense and some of the most unbelievable characters. It’s the story of Genivieve Belaveau. She works for Prima which is an organization that tries to correct the injustice in the world. Her friend Sheryl works for the same organization and has recently begun to be injured on her missions. The Boss of Prima agrees to allow Sheryl to retire on the condition that Genivieve retrieves an ancient knife from the Prince of the Fey in Scotland. Should be easy but Genivieve and the Prince share long time feelings for each other which makes stealing from him more complicated. What is so special about this knife? Is it magical? Yes. It can kill all the dragons and their kin. Why does Prima want it? Well that’s the mystery. This is a really good book and there are many twists in the story. I enjoyed it and look forward to the next book in the series.
Rayn and Genivieve struggle with the world around them and she kicks some rear! That’s all I’m going to say about the book, hehee just enough to tease the senses! Because man, this book is SUCH a delicious tease! Its characters are strong, the plot is fabulous, and the cover is awesome! The pace of the book kept me up all night, another one I so did not want to put down at ALL! The one and only con to the book, the ending was so abrupt I had to flip the kindle over to see where the rest of it was! I cried, yup, C R I E D when it stopped. It had me hooked in like a large mouth bass flopping around and waiting for more of the story!!! And no, that’s not really a bad thing really because now I REALLY have to get the rest and devour them just as swiftly as I did this one!
Despite the sadly unattractive covers for this trilogy, I is a breath of fresh air ....I have been reading book after book latley that have all turned out to be mediocre and feared I had run out of any paranormal books with some bite. I love kick-ass heroins that have the smarts to go with it and Vieve does not disappoint neither does her prince. I read this trilogy in about 2 and a half days and I'm so sad it over. It takes a lot to be put on my favorites list these days and this trilogy definitely made it there. Definitely recommend for people who like adult paranormal romance and kick- ass heroins who can take care of themselves,
Genivieve belaveau has a story to be told, and cleverly, it is told over the series so that the reader slowly comes to understand why she is such a hard ass female with a heart of gold. The story in these books is sound, I really enjoyed it; enough to read the set. BUT the constant flitting from past to present tense, even in one short paragraph really drove me mad at times. And the Scottish accents drove me to despair. And that is the reason this series has scored a 3 instead of the 4 it deserves..... Enough moaning. Vieve and Rayn are both enjoyable characters, the plot is fast and I enjoyed reading this series very much.
These book was really good can't wait for read the next book. I like Vieve because she was able to fight her own battles. She went through a lot of bad things but that make her be more strong. Fey Prince, Raynon has love her sense the first day he saw her. The Fey Prince is strong and sexy as well. I highly recommend these book.
I enjoyed reading Brimstone, the characters and plot were interesting and the story moved at a pretty good pace. My one complaint would be the editing, a lot of grammar mistakes which is a bit annoying when reading.
This was a great story with enough plot twists to keep you interested. It has romance, but was not filled with long, boring descriptions of sexual acts. The story speaks for itself.
