Lucy Maud Montgomery was a Canadian author, best known for a series of novels beginning with Anne of Green Gables, published in 1908.
Montgomery was born at Clifton, Prince Edward Island, Nov. 30, 1874. She came to live at Leaskdale, north of Uxbridge Ontario, after her wedding with Rev. Ewen Macdonald on July 11, 1911. She had three children and wrote close to a dozen books while she was living in the Leaskdale Manse before the family moved to Norval, Ontario in 1926. She died in Toronto April 24, 1942 and was buried at Cavendish, Prince Edward Island.
I really loved this book but i feel like it lacked something. I’m not sure what though. I really did enjoy reading this book, and glad i finished it! I totally recommend this for young readers! 😁
I read this while travelling on Prince Edward Island, knowing I'd see some of the relevant places and wanting to understand a little more of the author and the place. I had rarely been interested in reading this kind of book as a child, but enjoyed this enough. Some of the style has dated, but it stil evokes a particular time and place, and that is easy enough to see when travelling in PEI. Even if probably not my style now or when I was younger, the quality of the writing is very obvious.
