All my life I’ve waited for my fairytale romance. Sheltered by my protective father and confined by the dangers of his mafia legacy, I’ve saved myself—my heart and body—all these years for this very moment…
Deadly handsome and charming, Mikhail Ivanov, strikes a deal with my father for my hand in marriage, ensuring my safety and building an alliance. And I thank my lucky stars Mikhail is everything I’ve ever dreamed of, his sweet mouth whispering sins and promises—that I’m his little prince, his angel.
But when the wedding ends and I’m left with a barren wasteland of secrets, lies, and broken promises from the man I trusted, my dreams suddenly become a living nightmare I can’t escape.
I should have known all along that fairy tales aren’t real, just as my dear husband should have known that even angels will get their revenge.

”He’s always trying to save me, but doesn’t he know? He already has. He’s pulled out of my darkness and let me experience what true love is.”

This one ate up so bad. I was munching, was devouring. I love how Cora Rose went all out for this book. Dramatic and feisty and a bunch of likable characters. A Russian mafia story exclusively to her. Loved the uniqueness, loved the twists. Things happened that even I wasn’t expecting and I’m just here thinking I already know it all. Angel and Mikhail have my heart. Expecting some big shit from this author next year!

Wow!!! I love this story and its unique take on the enemies-to-lovers trope. Angel and Mikhail are supposed to have the perfect marriage, but everything crumbles after their wedding when the harsh reality of their marriage is revealed. It is not a fairytale, which instead of breaking Angel's spirit makes him stronger, more resilient, and hardened to the life and marriage he is now forced into living with.

This was a fantastic beginning of their story that intrigued me immensely as to where these two would go from their disastrous "honeymoon" to an HEA. I fell in love with Angel's spitfire personality and relentless determination in making his new environment his home regardless of the insufferable husband he is forced to endure. His strength is an amazing component to this story and is a big reason for changing the dynamics of his marriage with Mikhail.

I loved how unique this story was in its structure and its take on what happens after "I Do," where Angel and Mikhail are forced to fall for one another organically even after they are married. This story is entertaining, exciting, and full of surprises. I love a dark mafia romance and this world and cast of characters are always entertaining and I cannot wait to revisit.

** I reviewed a complimentary copy of this story.***

I am devouring this series and I love it! I knew I loved Angel as a character so I was looking forward to his story, I did not expect to love him even more. Because babyyyy Angel was a Demon and I loved that for him. I was absolutely living for his level of petty which was top tier bc Mikhail truly deserved what he got from Angel (and more tbh) but Angel was really giving Diablo vibes and I was living honestly. This truly was a spin on enemies to lovers that you felt at every stage.

As for Mikhail, Cora Rose truly knows how to redeem a very hate-able character bc I was ready to fight him for how he was doing my bby Angel. Once he finally got his shite together he definitely redeemed himself but it was a close call. Angel definitely got what he deserved in the end 🥰

Bane my sweet, creepy, deranged eyeball loving Bane, he is such a star ✨ and continues to steal the show each time he appears on page. I can’t wait to see what he and Georgiy get up to bc based on what we get here I know it’s gonna be hot 🥵 I’m so ready!!

I loved all the side characters as well, our liege Cora Rose does a great job of introducing characters without it feeling like there’s too much going on. And there’s so many vibes going on between these peeps that I see so many books in our future for this series and I love that for us all. ❤️

Unfortunately, I didn't particularly like this book. Not what I had expected after the first one. Neither the characters nor the story itself appealed to me. I just wasn’t into it.

Angel is 23. He is the son of a mafia boss. His twin brother is Diablo who had his own book. Angel is a ray of sunshine, the sweetest guy. He's been sheltered his whole life because he's so sweet he needs protection. He's a virgin and a romantic, he's been dreaming of finding his person. When things get tense with enemies his father decides that Angel would be best off married off to someone who could protect him.

Mikhail is 42, Russian mafia, and the intended groom. He's never been with a guy before, but he decides to marry Angel. For reasons that are never explained to my satisfaction, he is a complete a****** on their wedding night, and after consummating the marriage leaves Angel on his own and makes it clear that he doesn't intend this to be a real marriage/relationship. Angel is heartbroken, because he had been getting to know Mikhail for months and he thought this was going to be love. Angel is a resilient person though, and he has pride. He decides to make the best of things, and he transforms the home that he's living in into what he wants it to be and he befriends the staff and guards, making them meals, being kind to them, and really makes everyone like him and be loyal to him. Angel is basically Snow White and the seven dwarfs, and how he wins everyone's hearts. Mikhail is dealing with a mysterious threat that puts them in danger.

There was a lot that I liked about this book. The side characters were so vibrant and had such personalities, I enjoyed them and I hope a lot of them get books! I loved the small appearances by Anthony, Tatum, and Diablo. Diablo was especially fun to see, with his protectiveness of his twin, he took care of Angel, snuggled him, and fiercely defended him. Bane was hilarious in all of his appearances, he's an unhinged m*********** and so entertaining. Angel is a sweetheart, and I loved how he made the house a home and everyone had affection for him, he was that enduring and inspiring of loyalty. There was good heat between Angel and Mikhail, and by the end there was good possessiveness and affection.

A couple things I didn't love...
- I didn't get why Mikhail decided to marry a man all of a sudden when he had identified a straight before, and then made such a big dramatic show of consummating the marriage and then abandoning Angel. It was mean of him, so planned and deliberate, that it had me thinking that Mikhail secretly wanted revenge against Anthony for some reason. There was never a satisfactory reason for why Mikhail did that.
- Mikhail was a real incompetent mafia boss. He was too trusting, he wasn't smart enough to see danger and betrayals. I know that was a deliberate choice of the author, cuz it was a big part of the plot and why the ending was what it was. I thought this plot decision was a little silly though, because the whole point of Anthony marrying off Angel was to marry him to a strong man who could protect him. And Mikhail really couldn't when it came down to it, Angel and his family had to save the day. Also, personally, I guess I have a little bit of a competence kink - and Mikhail being incompetent as a mafia boss just made him less endearing of a character. I much preferred Anthony and his quiet strength to Mikhail.

Overall it was an enjoyable read though!

Some notable moments:

Bane is so much fun "“This is none of your concern. And stop lurking about my house. If you continue, I will let Georgiy have his way with you.” He gasps and then runs a hand across his shirt. “Like, what kind of way? A sexy way?” My lips turn down. “I will have him chop off your toes and use your bones as a necklace for my husband.” “Oh god,” he groans and then adjusts his crotch. “Don’t tempt me with a good time.”"

A little relationship angst, with possessiveness "“I don’t even know you. You know everything about me, and I know nothing about you. I was so stupid to marry you.” Mikhail’s head turns toward me and his nostrils flare. “And yet it’s too late. You’re mine.” “I wish I weren’t.” He rolls over with a wince, his body now right against mine, his hand hovering above my neck. “You can wish all you want, but you’re here with me. Get used to it.”"

Bane getting tied up, worked over, and loving it. Lol. "“Angelo!” he cries, and I make out the sound of something I can’t quite place. Almost as if he’s tugging on restraints. “He’s tied up,” Mikhail confirms softly, and I wet my lips, nervous. “Just wanted to make sure you’re safe.” “Oh god, I’m so safe. So fucking safe. Don’t worry about me. I’ve been such a bad boy. I deserve to be punished.” He says it maniacally, as if he’s on the verge of tears or coming. I’m not sure. And I’m honestly not sure if I want to know. “You sure?” “So sure,” he groans,"

*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.

**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.

"I should have known all along that fairy tales aren’t real, just as my dear husband should have known that even angels will get their revenge.

Lovers to enemies to lovers but make them husbands. I love this kind of book so much and it was even better than I was expecting. Angel's HEA crashes down around him once he's married to mafia boss Mikhail. Ignored and neglected by his husband, Angel sets out to get his revenge. He's going to turn the whole house upside down, and turn Mikhail's men against him. He won't let his husband touch him, and he'll protect his heart. Except... maybe Mikhail is a man worth fighting for, instead of against.
I wanted to read His Prince immediately after The Silencer because book 1 set the stage so well for book 2. Angel is a great character and it was nice to see him prove himself on his own, rather than from the POV of other characters like Diablo and Anthony. He's more than capable when given the chance to shine. The book was enjoyable, with more than a few cameos from characters we know and love, and a few surprises along the way.
"Well, fool me once. But twice? I’ll burn the fucking world down."

I was mad at Mikhail from the first chapter. Could not comprehend why he would go through all the trouble to marry and then treat Angelo like that. He did redeem himself but it took a good chunk of the book for that.

On the other hand, Angelo is everything. Even though he was hurt, he did everything he could to make a home. The way he won over Mikhail’s guards was everything! Their relationship was adorable and I love how they were loyal to him🤣

Overall, a cute book. Mikhail was a grumpy man but such is the mafia life. Angelo had him wrapped around his little finger and it was adorable!

⭐︎ 4.5 stars rounded up! ⭐︎

Read in another fun buddy read with the always lovely Lilly ❤️

It's finally Angel's turn to get his romance. We've gotten Diablo's, their father Anthony's and now it's Angel who gets a turn at alove.

Angel thought he found the perfect man in Mikhail, a Russian crime boss. But once they meet in person, get married, and fly across the country to Mikhail's home...their wedding night is not what Angel envisioned.

The warm, kind man that Angel talked to over the phone for months is nowhere to be found. In his place is a cold, stoic, seemingly unfeeling man, who take Angel's virginity in a very perfunctory, robotic way. Just an in and out, no feelings other than physical.

Then after he comes, he just...leaves. Barely a word said to Angel and that's it.

To say Angel is devastated would be pretty accurate.

Angel is one of the most normal people in this Mafia world, and sweet and kind. As well as a hopeless romantic, who thought he was getting the love of his life in Mikhail. And then all the sudden he's cold and distant and rude to him. Barely any care aside from making sure he was ready physically during Angel's first time.

But, as we come to see, Angel might be a good person, but he isn't a doormat. He isn't weak and he isn't to be messed with.

With determination, kindness and a strong will, Angel wins everyone in Mikhail's household over to him. As well as brightening up the drab, lifeless house Mikhail lives in. Mihkail is away on business for a good week or so at the start of their marriage, and they don't even see or talk to each other.

We get to understand a lot of Mikhail's reasoning for acting like this later on in the book, but it is hard at first to not be absolutely pissed at him for treating our sweet Angel in such a way. But it's also great to see Angel not being cowed by it. He determinedly forges ahead to make a good life for him there, with Mikhail in his life or not.

And Mikhail can't do anything because this is Angel. A mafioso prince and now his husband.

Once Mikhail comes back home, it is almost a battle of wills as Angel takes his own form of revenge on Mikhail for being an absolutely asshole, and Mikhail tries so desperately to keep Angel at arms length - which, of course, doesn't work for long.

Despite Mikhail's idiocy early on, I did come to really love his character, and I loved him and Angel together. They were so perfect together once they got past their problems and really started to connect.

My only reason for .5 stars off is a bit of annoyance with the lack of communication between them at important times. I was glad when Mikhail was practically pushed into explaining everything that happened in his past to make him that way with Angel, but they were both very stubborn in not talking to each other when they were angry at each other or upset with each other. Idiots!

Also the villains in this had pretty weak motives overall. I mean, they don't have to be smart villains, but damn...their reasoning was a bit of a stretch.

But otherwise, I loved this. Especially the last third when we got to see these two so connected and building their relationship, finally. What seems to be a horrible decision on Angel's part in the beginning ends up being the best. These two are so solid and in love by the end of this.

I think Angel is will be one of the only few Mikhail will ever trust from now on in his life.

Also, others will probably not care, but...a first for this author! The bigger/muscly guy was the top throughout this whole book and there was no switching or talk of switching! I was so happy about that. They fit their bedroom roles well and switching would not have fit at all in my mind.

I'm excited for the next in the series, although...if Bane is one of the MC's I'm gonna have to go in warily. He just didn't improve much in this one from the first one. Still annoying and intrusive AF and in no fun or interesting way. But I hope if there's a focus on him it'll shed more light on him and his past and endear me to him. Because as of right now it's a no go. So we'll see!

I like the set up for other potential couples as well. There were quite a few, so can't wait for more! 😘

P.S. So this world isn't just shared with Lark Taylor supernaturals, but Lily Mayne's as well. We got some cameos from the Lizard Granny Mafia in this, background characters in Mayne's Goliath's of Wrestling series. Now I have to imagine all these books in the same universe and it's wild.

My Ratings for the Unexpectedly Twisted Series:

☀️ The Silencer: 4.5 stars (my review)
☀️ His Prince: 4.5 stars

First of all, I'd like to thank Breathless Lit for providing me with an early copy of this captivating story.

OMG, this book was absolutely phenomenal! I've been eagerly awaiting Angel's story, and it exceeded my expectations.
Cora's writing style is truly exceptional, and her character development is impressive. I loved how she crafted both the main and supporting characters, making me wish each of them got their own story.

In this installment, we delve deeper into Angel's marriage to Mikhail, which isn't what we anticipated. After being left alone on their wedding night, Angel seeks revenge of sorts. I adored this new, devilish side of Angel, and his plans to make Mikhail jealous were entertaining.
Mikhail's possessiveness and obsession with Angel were palpable, but his past experiences made him hesitant to get attached. Their intimate scenes were emotionally charged and sizzling.

I appreciated the interactions between Angel and Mikhail's bodyguards, who affectionately referred to him as their "little husband." The introduction of new characters has me hoping for future stories.

Cameos from Anthony, Tatum, Diablo, and Skylar added a delightful touch. Bane, a character I adore, seems to have found his match, and I eagerly await his story.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. Cora's storytelling has captivated me, and I'm excited for the next installment.

i have very mixed feelings about this.
i want to start by saying that i enjoyed this, hence the rating, however it wasn’t what i wanted.

we met angel several books ago and he was always described as a literal angel and the opposite of diablo.
when cora started posting teasers about “little devil” i knew that i wasn’t getting the bad mafia husband only soft for angel, as i wanted, but something else.
now, i am glad that i read it, however this rebranding didn’t really make sense. actually, angel acted as diablo should’ve if he wasn’t portrayed as a caricature of himself.
mostly, i don’t get why angel was presented in a way for several books and he just wasn’t like that. and im not talking about an interiority that we discovered here, he really is like that.

so yeah, my experience was mostly ruined by this.
i repeat, i enjoyed it, but i can’t stop thinking about the book that we’ve been teased by for years.

also, cora if you’re reading this, delete that anthony chapter. it doesn’t add anything to the story and it’s something that’s only done in fan fiction. thank you.

Ok I’m very mixed between a 3 and 3,5 stars for this book.

I really loooooved Angel in this book, especially near the end, but I was not a fan of Mikhail.
Angel was brave, independent, he was able to create a whole new atmosphere in a dead house and like always he conquered the all gang super quickly. I love him and he deserves the world.

This book was not at all what I was expecting from the teaser from the previous book and it left me frustrated.
Angel talked about regular phone calls, text messages and hot sex video calls but the gap between the before and after the wedding was HUGE. And it bothers me they never talked about it. The miscommunication as well was too much. It was funny at first and it became rapidly boring. In addition, the fact that everything got resolved when he told Angel his “big secret” 🤐, another 360 flip… I could not.

Thankfully the main story was interesting. I loved seeing Bane discovering the house, with the possible ghost running around. And I really enjoy the Ivanov bodyguard calling Angel “our little husband”, it was super cute.

The romance felt flat because I really did not like Mikhail. He was not a mafia boss at all, just a child having tantrum and being delusional. Even his home security is shit… hot damn Angel was “sold off” to be safe and thanks god everyone underestimate him. Mikhail felt very very very weak, I couldn’t stop rolling my eyes, especially near the end. How did he survived before Angel ? I wonder….
Like I said I had an image of him from the previous book and that went down the drain.

I was really scared to read this one, because I knew it was going to make me cry.. but oddly the parts I was scared of weren’t the ones that made me cry. Enjoyed this book immensely! Angel is just as lovely in this as he was in The Silencer, but also showing how much you don’t want to piss him off. It was fantastic! I love this mafia world Cora Rose has dreamed up.

This is so bad. I can't believe that the same person who wrote Colin, Whit and Sem could have written His Prince. I don't even know where to start but I'll try.

- Mikhail is a terrible male lead. Why would Cora write a mafia love story with the worst Russian mobster in the world? And I don't mean morally bad, I meant the literal worst. He's so bad at being a mobster that it's laughable. He likes to walk around posturing like some tough guy while making the stupidest decisions and treating Angel like shit. So much for having a smoldering mob boss as a male lead. Mikhail had zero strength or appeal.

- I like Angel as a character but I feel like Cora feminized him too much. Even the way other characters interacted with him felt off. It felt like like she wrote an MF romance and changed the pronouns at the last minute. To the point where I was surprised at the mention of Angel having a dick.

- The villain was identified pretty early. And when we finally met him, he turned out to be a caricature of a cartoon bad guy.

- A bunch of Russian mobsters somehow turned into mild-mannered groundskeepers and errand boys because Angel fed them lunch. This seems ludicrous but it's actually the most realistic part of the book. They're being paid the same amount of money and are finally being fed and treated well. But it still feels like that scene in Rapunzel where she befriended a bunch of murderers and criminals after bonding over a song.

The good things:

- Bane
- The entire Costello family
- Jake and the garden

Anyway, don't even bother reading this novel. Even the three good things I mentioned could not save this damned book.

I have been anticipating this book since reading The Silencer. Angel’s dream of a fairytale romance and the off vibe of his wedding day, had me wanting to know what was going to happen next.

“They say love conquers all, but what if I’ve conquered love? “

Angel is at first naive, romantic and innocent. He thinks he knows the man he married but he doesn’t.

“I want to know the kind of man I married. Because it seems I got some of it wrong.

Mikhail Ivanov is the man Angel married. Russian - I love a sexy possessive Russian bad boy character.

“I’m certain that under all that sweetness lies a formidable opponent, and I fear that perhaps I’ve unleashed the monster.”

Angel is stronger than I thought he’d be. Yes he’s heartbroken but with also has a ton of ‘Fuck You’ to his newly married husband and situation. He endears himself to the housekeeper Nina and the bodyguards. It kinda reminds me of Snow White and the seven dwarfs. Except this would be called little husband and the many Russian bodyguards.

Angel sets his mind to making this mausoleum a home full of life and bright colours… to Mikhails horror.

“Where did my sweet Angel go?” he asks, his voice rough, confused. “You murdered him. He’s dead.”

Angel and Mikhail are caught in between loathing and lust.

“I used to have these notions of romance, of love. But now I realize that was all fanciful, naïve. There’s no such thing. It’s all a fantasy.”

Mikhail is haunted by his past and all the death, betrayal and loss he has experienced . It’s made him into this hard, cold untrusting man, who won’t allow himself to feel.

“I’m surviving this hellhole, I’m surviving you. But I’ll never hurt you, Mikhail. I’ll never harm you in any way.”

What is with these mafia men and secret passageways? I love it, a bit like Alice in wonderland with all these tunnels to explore.

Angel is hurt, he feels alone and even though he tells himself he hates his husband, all he really wants is Mikhail to trust him and to open himself up. And when they do allow themselves to trust and to love, it’s divine.

“I’m yours, my love, and you’re mine. My breath, my heart,” I gasp,

Bane , that chaotic and unhinged adorable man, makes an appearance in this book. OMG - A bouquet of colourful bones!! I honestly can’t imagine his own romance book but I’d look forward to it.

Other cameos include Diablo, Skylar, Tatum and Anthony, plus unexpected but enjoyable surprise cameo.

I absolutely devoured this book in one sitting. Theres love, there’s laughter , there’s light to be found in the dark. This book is Wuthering heights, with the ghost of an ex lover haunting Mikhail. It is Beauty and the beast, with Mikhail bellowing and stomping around, growling. It is a dark mixed mash of fairytales .Angel is a combination of Disney Princess’s and Princes, with his strength, determination, courage, he makes everything colourful and alive .

And like fairytales, they lived happily ever after.

This story was just the best. It surpassed my expectations!!

There’s so much hate and revenge, so many suppressed raw feelings. I was reading it all breathlessly.

Angel loves Mikhail and is happy to marry the mafia boss. But the wedding night wasn’t what he expected. It was a done-and-run for Mikhail. Angel was just one of his f*cks.
Oh, Angel is feisty! His revenge will be a blast!

I don’t want to spoil. Well, I desperately want to, but can’t! The turns were unpredictable and I loved it. The characters are so not who I expected them, again I loved it. There so much going on in this story, it was super duper good!

If you love enemies to lovers, you’ll find here at least 75% enemies and all sooooo good!

“Ya hochu potselovat’ tebya,”

It wasn’t all perfect, (it so was) but man did I love this story! One thing is important to know, it has a silly undertone, but the actions are not less bloody.
So many openings to new stories, I want Bane’s story and Jake’s and…. gosh I LOVE this insane world!

“He’s pulled me out of my darkness and let me experience what true love is.”

The way this book almost broke me is indescribable.
Cora doing mafia is 👌🏼 it is so damn good and unexpected with where it goes and what a ride to go on!

Love.
The fairy tale ending.
It’s all Angel has wanted and has waited for except what he finds at the end of the wait is something completely different.
Maybe once upon a time ends differently..
Maybe it ends in hatred and revenge.
Fool me once and all that..you know?

Phew lawd was this a journey, although bumpy it was something entirely unexpected.
The coldness of Mikhail mixed with the sunshine that is Angel was bound to clash and when it does, oh baby is he in for a ride of a lifetime… and not in the fun way 😏
When it all comes to a head we get the most gut wrenching consequences that will throw you for a loop, trust me I was shocked!
Mikhail & Angel are similar in some ways but differ where it matters most. They have to push past themselves in order to see that big beautiful picture.
Once the walls come down and everything is laid bare, there is no stopping these two.
Just try and see what comes next 😉 you won’t be expecting it, trust me!

The best things come from these two throughout this book and I loved every second I was reading. More please!
Jealousy.. you better believe it’s in here 🫦
Possessive husband.. yes this is a red-erm green flag!
Just that smidge of Bi-Awakening 💦
Delicious age gap 🤤 ofc this makes me feral!
The humor is unmatched throughout 🙃
Last but certainly not least is the declarations.. I love me those You’re Mine & Who do you belong to’s in a book 😍

We get all the cameos and even some new people that are interesting 👀
Banie baby is here and ugh I just love him to bits & we get another who captures (literally 😏) Banes attention.
New bodyguards that are cutest little clique around.
And of course we get Anthony, Tatum, Diablo & Skylar cameos cause of course we would.

If you haven’t read The Silencer or Diablo… you really should 😉

For me there is only one way to read a Cora Rose story, in one sitting, no distractions, maybe the odd toilet or snack break, but I know her characters will consume me so there is simply no other way.
His Prince was no different, everything I expected and more.
We have already met the main characters in The Silencer, having gotten to met Angel in his twin brothers story, Diablo.

We catch up with Angel just after he has married Mikhail. Angel is expecting his dreams and fantasies of the perfect man and perfect marriage to play out. But, that was never going to happen!

Angel finds himself in a very different life to the one he envisioned. However he will not be beaten, he takes his new reality and makes it his own, tormenting Mikhail in the process.

Will Angel get his happy ever after? Is Mikhail the heartless person he appears to be?
Go binge read this story and see. I was not disappointed, I very much doubt you will be either

This was just perfect!
The mix of sweetness, angst, and unexpected twists? Absolute perfection. The way Cora Rose takes the classic royal bodyguard trope and twists it into something deeper, darker, and even more addictive—just chef’s kiss.

And the audiobook? A whole experience. The narrator didn’t just read the story; they lived it. The emotion, the tension, the heartbreak—it all came through so vividly. When the prince’s carefully built world started cracking and the bodyguard had to face feelings he definitely wasn’t ready for? I was glued to every word. The push-and-pull, the stolen moments, the undeniable longing… It’s the kind of audiobook that makes you forget about reality for a while, and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way!
