But when he accidentally walks into the middle of a feud between two sweet little old ladies, he finds out life in Fernald Court old age housing isn’t what it seems. There’s blood on the rooftops, bodies on the floor, and oddities skulking in the night.
And though the ladies are little and old, one of them is the furthest thing from sweet.
Lifelong reader, recently turned writer, my friends were surprised when I turned to writing horror. They remember me reading a lot of Sci-Fi while growing up. And I did. But there was an awful lot of Fantasy, Crime, Mystery and, yes, Horror in the mix. Though I do have a few non-horror stories in my head and fighting to get out (I started this ride writing a series of Sci-Fi shorts to read to my son at night), most of what I write about comes from the darker side of life. And unlife. I'm going to just keep sprinkling material onto the mulch pile in my mind and see what comes up.
Tom the postman should have minded his own business, but he just couldn't resist the urge to find out exactly who that strange old lady really was. Next thing he knows, he's running for his life being hunted down by something unthinkable.
This was my first time reading this author and I have to say I really enjoyed this book. The story reminded me of a cross between a creepy old X-Files episode and the film Late Phases (although this has nothing to do with werewolves). Definitely recommended.
This book was a hoot. It is basically about Tom, a mailman and his delivery route. The funny business starts when he has to deliver packages and letters all the time to elderly people in an apartment complex. They enjoy watching each other (ok, spying) instead of just watching tv because it's more fun. Tom relays info back to his supervisor Paul who used to deliver there twenty years ago.
Incredible! Alternatingly tense and hilarious. The dry humor is delivered with impeccable timing between suspense building to terror. Absolutely brilliant.
