Publisher's Note: Hunted is a YA Urban Fantasy novel with a touch of romance, and is one of the books that make up the Reflections Universe. The Reflections Universe is a series of clean YA Paranormal books featuring vampires, shapeshifters, werewolves and more, which have been written so they can be safely enjoyed by both young adults and older readers alike. Readers new to the Dark Reflections series (and its wonderful shape shifters) should start with Bound, one of several Young Adult books available from Dean.
The Reflections Universe: Some stories are too full of teen urban fantasy shapeshifter goodness to fit into just one series!
I love how well each character develops and how the mysterious dream world unfolds. I guessed many possible roads and enjoyed being occasionally surprised. I wish there had been more action and I hate that I just HAVE to get the next book!
This book was part of a larger collection of paranormal books that I purchased. I had never heard of this author, but the premise seemed interesting.
I did not realize this was the 2nd book of the series. The author did a great job of unfolding the story in a way that drew me in. The world building and character building was used to create suspense and build connections. I do still have questions but I'm not sure they would be answered in the first book or not. I'm curious how Adriana has her "gift", but no one in her family seems the same.
Overall the book kept me entertained. There was one cuss word, that I recall reading. All interactions were appropriate for teens. There were some actions that did not seem to receive consequences, but it was alluded to at the end. I am interested to see what happens next. 3.5 stars
Hunted, book 2 of the Dark Reflections series, in an alternative story line to the Reflections series. If I'd read this book first, I wouldn't have been interested in this series at all. While book one was a fast-paced, action-packed read, this second offering was slow, and full of high school, mean girls angst. I stayed with it, as I hoped the story would speed up, or provide insight into book three's story. Good writing, but with overly snippy teen girl melodrama. I hope the next book returns to book one's excellent pacing.
first book by this Author, being a teenager is hard enough , throw in a strange power to visit people in their dreams and things just got harder, I first read this book in an anthology and It was presented as book one but apparently is book 2. I recommend this book 5 stars
I received this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Bound took you into the alternate reality of Sanctuary's shifters. Hunted shows you Adri's story where her father and sister didn't die.
The best thing about these books is that you see and recognise characters from the Reflections series. Some parts may change but some, like in Adri's case, her core remains the same. The worst thing about these books is that I recognise a name and can't help but think about what sort of character they were in the 'other' reality. I say worst thing but this is in no way a bad thing as it keeps the story fresh and very entertaining.
This book kept me turning the pages, unwilling to put it down until I had read 'just one more chapter'. You would think that I should know by now not to start one of Dean's books in the evening as it always ends up with me going to bed late!
Good luck to Adri with her training and I can't wait for her and Alec to meet in this reality. Highly recommended to Dean Murray/Eldon Murphy fans.
