Return From Rysa: Darkness and Light

Rate this book
Return From Rysa is the story of a young boy named Conner who discovers we are not alone in the Universe. In book one, Angels and Aliens, Conner is abducted by aliens known as the Enesian (the Greys), who are interested in his DNA and, later, his unique ability to see future events. Conner is followed through his childhood by these and other aliens with more nefarious intentions. He also discovers the Rysan, a benevolent group of human-like beings who interact with him and save him from the others. During his early years, Conner discovers God, the creator of the Universe, who sends him three angels and a fourth, who continue to encourage and uplift him as he learns God gives all His creations agency, and some are good, others are bad. Conner discovers he is in the middle of a galactic plan to rescue the people of Earth from the soon-to-arrive Anti-Christ by the return of the Lost Ten Tribes. Book two, Darkness and Light, continues Conner's journey in the Return From Rysa series.

Phillip Wright’s Return From Rysa: Darkness and Light is a compelling continuation of a saga that dares to explore the complexities of power, purpose, and personal transformation. This is not just another sci-fi fantasy—it's a layered, intelligent narrative that resonates with anyone navigating high-stakes decisions, moral ambiguity, and the tension between destiny and free will.

The book picks up with urgency and doesn't let go. What strikes me most is Wright’s skill at merging grand-scale interstellar conflict with deeply human moments. The protagonists are more than archetypes—they evolve, sometimes painfully, and you feel their growth. There’s a depth to the way Wright presents light and darkness—not as simple opposites but as forces that often coexist within the same people, decisions, and consequences.

For anyone who's built something from the ground up—be it a business, a mission, or a legacy—you’ll appreciate the book’s undercurrent: that true leadership isn't about power alone, but clarity, sacrifice, and resilience.

The pacing is brisk but not rushed. The world-building is immersive, and the action is both cinematic and thoughtful. You’re not just reading a battle; you're living inside its moral weight.

Wright seems to write from a place of vision. He knows where his universe is headed, and he invites you to trust him—much like any great leader or storyteller should. This installment isn't just a bridge between stories. It's a mirror held up to the values we carry, the battles we fight internally, and the legacy we hope to leave.

Highly recommended for those who love stories with heart, intelligence, and a clear sense of forward momentum. Return From Rysa is not just about returning—it's about rising. I am looking forward to read book 3.
