Three novels that prove love can always be found right at home

There’s nothing quite like the comfort and serenity of returning home again, especially when combined with the sizzle and excitement of finding true love. This limited-edition contemporary romance boxed set from Entangled’s Bliss line features three fun and flirty small-town stories sure to make you laugh, sigh, and smile long after you’ve turned the last page.

Taste the Heat by Rachel Harris: Colby Robicheaux knows her brother’s best friend—delectable fire captain Jason Landry—is off-limits, and anyway, she’s only back home for a short time. Jason’s looking for someone to help him raise his preteen daughter, not a fling, but Colby’s all grown up and tempting as ever.

Playing at Love by Ophelia London: When Tess Johansson’s music program gets pitted against Jack Marshall’s football program in a battle for funding, she knows only one of them can win. Jack might be the summer love she never forgot, but her job means everything to her. Competing against the enemy was never quite this much fun.

Lucky Break by Kelley Vitollo: Sydney Williams might have come home to her small town of Shamrock Falls, but it’ll take more than that to rekindle a broken friendship with her childhood best friend, Kade Mitchell. When friendship turns to sparks turns to more, will Kade be able to convince his best friend to gamble on forever?

Three tales by three exceptional authors at an amazingly low price.

The Hometown Love box set is a wonderful example of the breadth and depth of talented authors that Entangled are currently offering us. If you are looking for some really enjoyable, sweet, funny and easy to read tales of love and relationships then look no further.

Taste The Heat by Rachel Harris.

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t enjoy the ‘falling for my brother’s best friend’ trope, if it’s well written you know you are onto a winner and Rachel Harris has delivered this perfectly in my opinion.

Colby Robicheaux left town 8 years ago after discovering a devastating family secret and has since, trained and become a respected Chef in her own right. Returning from Las Vegas to help out in the Family restaurant after her father’s death is only ever mean t to be a temporary arrangement.

Unfortunately fate has other ideas, and here we get to meet (and a certain reader developed a bit of a crush too) town Fire Chief, Gym owner and all round good-guy, Jason Landry. He is also Colby’s brother’s best friend, widowed with a cute 12 year old daughter that he takes full time care of. The attraction is mutual, the obstacles many.

They agree to a summer fling, no-strings and no feelings to be involved. Unfortunately Colby has always loved Jason, and Jason works out pretty quickly that he has fallen in love with Colby.

Playing at Love by Ophelia London.

I loved this story (and the series this book is the beginning of). Jack and Tess are both feisty characters not afraid to fight for what they want but also to fight for what their students need.

Jack has moved back to town after a long absence and is looking to spend more time with his daughter and establish himself as the local schools new Football Coach. Tess never left town, and is very much a part of the community as is the school choir and the school’s music Programme that she runs. Neither of them expect to be on opposite sides of the classroom, but when school funding is cut it is every man, woman and student for themselves.

Another easy to engage in, and character rich story, and I can also recommend the follow-up books in this series as well Speaking of Love and Falling for Her Soldier.

Lucky Break by Kelley Vitollo.

Kelley Vitollo is an author that I also know by another name, and as such I knew Lucky break would be another hugely enjoyable story. Writing as Nyrae Dawn, there isn’t a book I haven’t loved by this author.

This writing in this book as with all of the Bliss stories focuses on the emotions and the relationships between the characters and not necessarily in depth descriptions of their sexy-times. I am ok with that as long as the story is sound, and once again we have a treat.

Friends to lovers is another trope that when written well is always easy to immerse yourself in, Sidney has been a struggling actress for longer than she cares to remember, and finding that one ‘lucky break’ is proving to be more elusive than she was expecting. After suffering the week from hell, and needing a break she heads home to Shamrock Falls.

Kade has just taken over ownership of one of Shamrocks most popular bars, and has big plans for Lucky’s. Having the best-friend you are in love with, coming back into your life can play havoc with you plans, especially if she’s not sure she wants to stay around this time or up and leave again!

This is another story that offers you a diverse and well established secondary cast of characters not to mention the setting, not only do Sidney and Kade have more of a story going for them than you originally thought (which I loved), but it also sets the reader up for more books in the series Luck of the Draw and Just my Luck.

I would happily recommend all three books in this collection, and look forward to reading more from these authors in the future.

4 Stars for the 3 Books!

Taste the Heat by Rachel Harris ( 4.5 Stars!)

Honestly what's not to love about a sexy fire fighter who can cook?

Colby comes back to her little New Orleans town after her father passes away and her older brother is having a hard time finding a new chef. Needless to say Colby is not happy about leaving her Las Vegas restaurant to come back home to a place she hasn't been to in years. It also doesn't help that they live in such a small tight nit town that everyone knows everything.

What starts off as innocence flirting between Colby and her brothers best friend, Jason (swoon) turns into much much more when they start to develop a real bond and connection with one another. Colby also grows very close to Jason's daughter. Their time is limited, Colby has no intentions of staying, but Jason isn't willing to let her just go back either, not when both he and his daughter love her.

I loved this book, it was so good and sassy! Literally laughed, and or smiled the entire time I read this. Colby was a strong character which I loved and Jason was super swoon worthy. The scene in the convince store was hilarious!

Definitely Recommend!

Playing at Love by Ophelia London (4 Stars)

Tess loves her show choir, loves her job teaching at the High School, and wants to save her retired parents from foreclosure.

Jack loves football, and loves his new job teaching at the High School, not to mention gain custody of his daughter.

What they didn't expect was to have budget cuts that leaves one of their activities in the dust.

Game on. Tess must win Regionals and Jack must win 4 of the 6 games. Whoever wins keeps their programs.

The aftermath that unfolds tears the town in half. It also doesn't help that the two who should be at odds with one another the most have a shared history, and find themselves back where they were when they were 16 again.

I loved this book. I thought Tess was awesome and Jack was hysterical. The side characters were also pretty funny as well. Tess' best friend and then her brother plus her parents! Too funny. I really liked the lightness to the story and how adorable it was. I have a soft spot for second chance romance.

I only wish we got more of Jack's daughter! She was adorable and I wanted more of her!

Definitely Recommend!

Lucky Break by Kelley Vitollo (3.5 Stars)

Sydney is back to her hometown of Shamrock Falls after leaving everyone and everything behind five years ago. On her own in LA to live out her dreams of becoming an actress, if only it were that easy.

After her car is stolen and her 'boyfriend' gets a movie out in NYC Sydney returns to her little town to her Aunt Mae's house to relax for a month.

What she doesn't expect if for her old best friend Kade to be living in her Aunts' guest house while he's redoing his house. Not to mention the old bar/bowling alley that is now his as well.

Sparks fly just as they used to when they meet up again. However, there's no future for Sydney here especially not when she lands' the role of a lifetime, or is there?

Hmm okay, this book just didn't do it for me unfortunately. I really wanted to love it but I couldn't connect at all with Sydney. I felt like their whole fight lasted about a chapter and then they were friends again …

It was a good read I just couldn't get into it as much as the other two, maybe if it was the first book in the bundle I'd had liked it more. I went from two really really good books that I finished in one sitting to this one and it just didn't work for me.

I originally read each of these as single publications. Each were fabulous and this is a bundle I recommend. You can’t not fall for each of these couples. Brief review on each, but my full reviews can be found under each separate publication.

Taste the Heat – 5 stars

One hot Fire Captain - Check
Sexual tension - Check
Chocolate body paint - Check check check

Simply a fabulous well-written book with loveable endearing characters, a great storyline, is flirty, sexy and funny with moments that are heartwarming, sweet and touching. And whilst it doesn't go into the detailed steamy act, it leaves plenty to your imagination. I devoured it.

I loved both Jason and Colby. Neither are perfect, which makes them exactly that and their hopes and fears were realistic. I smiled, I swooned, I made those sighs of appreciation that we women are prone to and I laughed; Jason's daughter is a fabulous young lady who brought many of the moments that you just can't not laugh-out-loud at.

<\b>Playing at Love – 4.5 stars

Well-written, sweet and romantic with humour, endearing characters, a great storyline and left me smiling and wanting more.

I loved both Tess & Jack; Tess is down-to-earth, feisty, caring, loyal, a great teacher and the type of friend you would love to have in your life. Jack is just perfect; he's witty, sexy, athletic, cheeky, has a heart of gold, is a fantastic Dad and can even cook. With my feelings torn over who I wanted to be successful, I was captivated and I rooted for them both professionally and romantically throughout.

Lucky Break – 4 stars

A heartwarming story in a beautiful setting, with lovely endearing characters and a storyline that is touching and romantic.

Sidney and Kade are great characters. Childhood best friends, they are stubborn, feisty and are hurting from their past mistakes and with valid reasons they have a reticence when it come to romantic possibilities I loved them, their banter and their journey which includes childhood flashbacks which fitted so well into the story. If you have a penchant for a sexy man and are ever the romantic then Shamrock Falls is the place to be.

This was an excelllent boxed set of books. The theme that ran between all three books was being in your hometown, either still or again. In Taste The Heat we meet Colby and Jason who are from the same hometown. Colby is back again, and has some things to get through. Jason not only helps her with that, but makes her fall for him again, and his daughter too. It's not all as easy as that, but very well done. In Playing at Love we meet Tess who never left her hometown and Jack, the man who broke her heart when she was 15 and he was 16. They are competing for funding for both of their programs at school. Initially, Tess doesn't want anything to do with Jack, but can't help herself. They fall for each other again, complicating matters. In the end, they both end up winners, but you'll have to read to find out how. In Lucky Break we meet Sidney and Kade, who are from the same hometown and used to be best friends. Until Sidney ran away after graduation without a goodbye or saying anything. Sidney lives in California and wants to be an actress, but goes home when things go south unexpectedly. When Sidney and Kade see each other again, it brings up a lot. Kade is angry, and Sidney is confused about the depth of his anger. They slowly get to know each other again, and when Sidney is offered everything she thought she wanted that's when she realizes what she truly wants, and goes after it.
Three fabulous stories about love being found and re-found in your hometown. A great set for anyone to have. I enjoyed reading all three books, set in various places around the country. Get this set while you can, as I see that it's only available for a limited time. You really don't want to miss it.

I subscribe to Entangled's mailing list and saw this was put out as a bundle. I've read all 3 on my old Kindle and when I saw it was only $.99 I purchased it for new Kindle hdx. I think I may have reviewed the books individually when I originally read them. Each is the first in a series and I've read all of them. My personal favorite is Kelley Vitollo's Shamrock Falls Series. I think it's also a good representation of the Bliss line which is what I tend to read when I want to relax into a story and unwind.

It was a fine, mindless read. Although not what I'd classify as a trashy romance, it certainly wasn't clean either. I really think I'm done reading stupid stuff for a while. It's starting to make me feel like my brain is made of mush.

**4.5 STARS**

Hometown Love is a great set from 3 talented authors. The set is made up of the first book in each of the author’s series, so this is a great way of discovering and falling in love with new characters! Each story was about discovering a place to call home and a second chance of love.

Taste the Heat by Rachel Harris – 5 Stars
Who has ever had a crush on your brother’s best friend? With Taste the Heat you can live out that fantasy! Colby returns home to help her families restaurant but her plan gets complicated when she runs into her childhood crush (and her brother’s best friend) Jason Landry. From the beginning of the story you feel the sizzling chemistry between Colby and Jason. This is a great romance story that was funny and heartwarming. Rachel Harris is a great writer that blends steamy romance plus the feel of family unity. With all the hardships that Colby and Jason have had to overcome they had the loving support of their family and friends. So Taste of Heat isn’t just a story about two people. It is the beginning of a great series with characters I can’t wait to get to know more of.

Playing at Love by Ophelia London – 5 Stars
Have you ever wondered what happened to your first love? In Playing at Love fate brings back teenage sweethearts Tess and Jack. But it isn’t a happy reunion. Due to their high schools budget their jobs are at stake and a competition begins. Tess is a music teacher and Jack is a football coach, so the competition between the two programs reminded me of Glee. Even with that comparison I still enjoyed this story. This is their second chance at love but their students were always a priority. I really liked this aspect of the story that showcased their dedication as teachers. This made the story realistic.

This is my first book from this author and it won’t be my last. This was well written and flowed perfectly. I look forward to reading more from Ophelia London.

Lucky Break by Kelley Vitollo 4.5 Stars
Do you regret the choices you made in your past? In Lucky Break Sidney Williams returns home for a break from her busy life in LA. Once home she runs into Kade Mitchell, her former best friend and the boy she regretted leaving behind. This was a really nice story. Sidney is given a chance at mending the broken friendships she had. At the same time Sidney is discovering a new relationship with Kade. But Sidney has a lot of insecurities that I felt wasn’t clear from the beginning. There were little hints about her mom but I didn’t understand the full backstory of their relationship until the end. I think it would have been better to have more of an explanation in the beginning of the story. This would have helped me form a better connection with Sidney. But overall I did like this story and the supporting cast. I can’t wait to read more books in this series.

This is a great bundle. All three stories have a nice blend of sexy, sweet romance and humor. These are characters you will love and authors you will want to read more from. I highly recommend this book to all romance fans!

I received an eARC copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. Here is my honest review.

I really enjoyed this bundle of romance books. I did enjoy the first two books more than the third which surprised me. I typically really love those stories that focus on friends falling in love. Lucky Break felt like there was just something missing....almost as if the repair to the broken friendship was glossed over. On an unrelated note to the story, I did highlight Vitollo's note to her husband in the dedication as it is ever so romantic: First, we grew up together; now we'll grow old together. Sweet, right?
Taste the Heat was surprisingly good. Lots of wit from Colby made it very enjoyable. Playing at Love was such a typical romance: man and woman who should not be able to get along, yet end up really connecting. Tess was refreshing as a romance heroine in that she was very down-to-earth and confident and powerful.

This is a bargain (Kindle $0.99) in my opinion for a sweet summer romance read. Each of the stories in the bundle is the first story in a series by each author.

***ARC from NetGalley in Exchange for an honest review***

This was a great compilation of bliss books. Taste the heat aptly brings the heat. The passion between Colby and Jason is palpable and provides tingly reading pleasure. Playing at Love was a good lesson in compromise and unconditional support. You spend the whole time rooting for an ending that ends up in a tie. Lucky Break was a little down for me. I could not relate to Sydney...wishing most of the time that I can give her a Gibbs slap upside the head. I thought Kade deserved better. But all in all a terrific summer read.
