1914, Yorkshire occidentale, Inghilterra.
Australian born AnneMarie Brear writes historical novels and modern romances and sometimes the odd short story, too. Her passions, apart from writing, are travelling, reading, researching historical eras and looking for inspiration for her next book. https://www.facebook.com/annemariebrear http://www.annemaribrear.com
An amazing read right from the word go. It had all the components that had me turning the pages quickly to read what would happen next. To my delight, right over wrong conquered. However, some slight swearing from the main characters was totally unnecessary but didn’t spoil it for me otherwise it would have been four stars rather than five as swearing and blasphemy do not need to be included in any novels . I thoroughly recommend this outstanding book to others who like fiery characters making up their own minds about it and go forward with their standards to stand up for what they believe in. Thank you 😊
Loved this book it was one of those stories you couldn't put down🙂 it's the first time I have read this author a books and would highly recommend her can't wait for the second one 👍
I have enjoyed every page of this book. I've enjoyed learning of how the work was done on the farm and how miners suffered underground. Looking forward to the next one x
I loved the characters were well chosen and very strong people who were willing to share their lives together helping others. Its an easy read well written story and couldn't put it down Its so true to life.
From the beginning the plot was enthralling. Throughout the turns and adversities both excited and frustrated the reader and I had a deep sense of personally willing Beth and Noah to triumph and overcome their arch enemy, Melville.
Another stunning book by Annemarie Brear. I really loved following Beth and her family, set in England in the early 1900s. Looking forward to discovering more in the sequel.
Book #1 for 2022 is done! A nice easy read to start yet another covid filled year... I find I can't focus on heavy reading at the moment so this book was the perfect light read. Filled with likeable characters that were easy to follow through with their day to day life of living on a farm and working in the coal mines... the simple life! Now to start book 2!
