The entirety of Olive Township is looking forward to the fast-approaching day when Daisy St. James will say ‘I do’ to the town golden boy.

There’s just one little catch.

Daisy isn’t in love. Her impending nuptials are transactional in nature, and that suits Daisy just fine. She learned the hard way a long time ago that true love does not exist, so what does it matter if her marriage is a farce?

But then a stranger named Peter sails into town, his forearm bearing a tattooed symbol of the Navy SEAL he used to be. And wound around that symbol, are daisies.

Daisy is ready to write it off as coincidence, but there’s no denying the way the enigmatic man feels familiar to her. His slow smile, his stormy eyes, the shape of his jaw. He makes her laugh, draws out her smiles, and even more dangerous, he challenges her previous thoughts about true love.

And then one day, he says three little words only someone from her past would know…someone named Penn.

Penn Bellamy returned to Olive Township with plans to sell his late mother’s estate, snag a locally famous Sammich, and be on his way. Under no circumstances was he to speak to his childhood best friend, Daisy. Or be her ear when she fled her engagement party. Or become her physical therapy client. Offering to help her with her home remodel? He wasn’t supposed to do that, either.

When Daisy learns Peter and Penn are the same person, and he discovers Daisy’s engagement is a pretense, all bets are off.

Penn will do whatever it takes to make Daisy his, even if it means telling her the truth about why he left once before.

After all, all is fair in the quest for true love.

Pen returns to his hometown, where he hasn't been for over ten years, to sell his late mother's estate. On his very first evening back, he runs into Daisy—the girl he once loved. But an unfortunate incident forced him to leave her and flee the town.

It turns out that Daisy is engaged to another man, someone she doesn't truly love. Pen decides not to reveal that he is the same childhood best friend she once knew and instead introduces himself as Peter. But as time goes on, Daisy starts falling for him too.

Overall, I enjoyed the book—the characters were sweet, and the banter between Pen and Hugo was great. However, there were moments when I was bored. I felt like there weren’t enough exciting events or drama. I also wished that Pen had fought for Daisy more instead of just watching from the sidelines. Additionally, we never got to learn Glenn’s secret—I assume that’s something that will be revealed in Duke’s book.

Maybe my expectations were too high because shortly before getting this ARC, I read another book by Jennifer, What We Keep, and it absolutely blew me away, becoming one of my all-time favorites. This one didn’t have the same impact on me.

Hugo intrigued me, so I’m really looking forward to his book!

This was my first book by her, and it's kind of underwhelming, like I would love to read more depth in the story. I skimmed the pages a lot.
While I liked the Small Town vibes( I always like them) banters between Hugo and Penn, something fell off in the plot. Penn and Daisy were good individually, but the story of them together didn't appeal to me that much. If they were childhood friends, she should have recognised him sooner, even if there was a hidden identity involved like I know it might take time, but it felt dragged.

Thank you so much, @valentinepr, for The ARC.

I absolutely LOVED What We Keep so it killed me that this one didn’t click for me :/ I had a hard time clicking with the characters. Maybe it’s because I don’t know Princess Bride very well? Either way I want to thank Valentine PR and Jennifer for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Oh my little heart, it went through sweet, sweet turmoil reading this one.

Olive Township all await the marriage of Daisy St.James. Everyone except Daisy that is.

Daisy is about to marry for convenience, more of a transaction than a relationship, she signed off on true love many years ago when a boy named Penn walked out of Olive Township forever.
What Daisy didn't expect handsome and mysterious Peter to walk into town.
There's something about Peter that feels familiar, and even though Daisy wants to bury any feelings of true love, she feels drawn to him.

Penn, who goes by Peter now, literally dropped back home with plans to sell his late mother’s estate, snag a locally famous Sammich, and be on his way. Avoiding Daisy under all circumstances is his mission, but when he hears that Daisy's pending nuptials are a fraud, everything changes.

This second chance love story tore me up, it's so sweet and pulls at your heart in all the right ways.
Thank you to Valentine PR and the author for the chance to read and review in return for my honest opinion, this one comes out Feb 6th.

ARC Review!

I was so excited when I saw that Jennifer was starting a new series, and it was loosely inspired by The Princess Bride!

I absolutely loved this book! It was the perfect book to start off a new series. I loved getting introduced to the new characters and falling in love with this small town.

Daisy is a sweet girl that wants to make her dying mom, and small town, proud. She puts her own happiness and wants aside to make everyone else happy. She is engaged to a man she doesn’t love, all while thinking of the one she has always loved, but hasn’t seen in 15 years.

Penn is back in the small town he said he would never come back too. He is back to tie up loose ends on his childhood home, and then he plans to leave and never return… until he runs into Daisy.

I loved everything about these two! The witty banter between them and the sweet nickname Penn calls her made my heart swoon! I loved that they got their happy ending!

I can’t wait to read Hugo’s story next, and dive deeper into new characters!

Thank you so much Jennifer Millikin for this ARC!

THIS SERIES is going to be so good!! While reading I was in the authors inbox asking when the side characters books were coming 🤣

Let’s be honest though, Jenn has become an auto read author for me, if she comes out with it I’m reading it.

This one is a second chance, childhood friends to lovers and a rough retelling of Princess Bride!

Daisy is about to marry for convenience, to someone that she definitely doesn’t love. It’s more of a transaction. Everyone in town is waiting for it to happen but she despises even the process.

She gave up on love when Penn left town years ago. But when this man named Peter shows up to clear out his late mother’s house… and seems awfully familiar, the chemistry is undeniable.

So although Daisy is engaged to marry someone else, she can’t deny her true love for Penn.

So swoony, but also had me giggling and even tear up at times!

5 ⭐️ 2.5 🌶️

Second Chance romance • secret pining • childhood friends to lovers • she’s engaged to someone else • fairytale retelling

Tropes: Second chance, hidden identity, boy obsessed, past childhood friends

This story hooked right off the bat solely based off the fact that it is princess bride inspired… the way I ran (more like sprinted actually) to read it because that was my favorite movie all throughout my childhood. I have previously read only one other Jennifer book (here for the cake, which I also just read this month as well), so my expectations weren’t all that drastic one way or the other, but I was so pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this read! I think this story was utterly captivating and magical, and made me feel this warmth inside. And let’s talk about how the mutual pining was absolutely PERFECTION?! It felt so tangible that it was basically jumping off the page for me.

✨ARC REVIEW✨

I just couldn’t get past the fact that his childhood BEST FRIEND didn’t recognize him for half the book.

I love Jennifer Millikin books. Love them. So to say I didn’t love this at all is a real surprise to me. I just don’t know what happened…

I wasn’t a fan of the execution of the plot. I wasn’t a fan of the characters. I had to skim A LOT. For someone who writes beautifully, this felt extremely juvenile in tone to me. I couldn’t stand the “Sunshine” nickname, especially after only “knowing” each other for like three days.

I did love the aesthetics, or appearances, of this book. I enjoyed the small town vibes. I enjoyed Penn’s storyline but I wish it didn’t just completely disappear. I probably enjoyed Hugo the best.

I wanted to love this and I really tried to give it the benefit of the doubt but there wasn’t enough for me to love.

Will this discourage me from reading JM again? HECK NO. Unfortunately, this one just wasn’t it for me BUT that doesn’t mean you won’t love it.

"Hi, Penn."
He grins impishly. "Hi, Daisy."
Thrill sweeps through me. Jubilation.
"It's good to see you again."

Awwww, my heart! Let me start this review by admitting that I have approximately 283,949,204 long overdue reviews to catch up with, but nothing will stop me from expressing my LOVE for Jennifer Millikin's new book in a brand-new series first. Penn is now officially my top favorite among Jennifer's work and Penn & Daisy my most beloved OTP.

Childhood-friends-turn-lovers is and will always be the one and only romance trope I adore most and will never get tired of. Jennifer happens to be an incredibly talented author who writes flawless stories with the trope featuring perfectly imperfect (yet relatable) characters. Ever since Good On Paper, I have been lowkey waiting for something as unforgettably sweet as that book and I'm thrilled to announce that Penn is what I've been seeking all this time. *teary eyes*

I was meant to love Daisy. I've loved her as a friend, and then I loved her in memory, and now I want to love her as a woman. A ship in the harbor is safe, but that's not what ships are meant for.

The male main character, Penn, comes back to his childhood hometown, Olive Township, where he left abruptly 15 years ago due to an unspeakably ugly reason, which his then best friend, Daisy, was kept in the dark about. To protect her from all the heartbreaking memories, Penn decides to keep his real identity hidden this time...but after all the thoughtfulness and beauty he's always possessed deep down in his heart start to slip through the façade, people in town gradually notice how familiar he actually looks.

Needless to say, one of my most favorite parts is when he finally comes clean and confides in Daisy about who he is, what happens during all those years, and eventually, why he left back when their romance slowly took root. Penn's honesty, loyalty, and overall genuineness truly touch me and please don't get me started on his grand gesture consisting of the sweetest & heartfelt small actions. *melting hearts*

And then there's Daisy, Olive Township's very own sweetheart. Although she's engaged to Duke, her lifelong friend and Penn's childhood bully, she knows he is and will never be where her heart lies. Shortly after she learns about Penn's real identity, their feelings for each other only grow stronger and stronger each day...all the way until the day of her dreadful wedding. Carrying so much baggage and burden from her own family, Daisy has become someone else throughout the years. Thankfully, Penn manages to breathe life back into her and they've come a very long way to the happy ending both of them more than deserve.

"I love you, Sunshine."
"I love you, Sailor."
My nose presses into her hair. "I love you, Daisy."
I feel the release of her slow laughter. "I love you, Penn."

All in all, Penn and Daisy's story completely melts my heart with the beautiful writing, exciting Easter eggs in Jennifer's authentic style, a.k.a. little cameos of characters in her other books, along with impressive storytelling technique. The entire book is well-paced, meticulously-plotted, and above all, personification at its finest. I mean, who would've thought to narrate the story from Olive Township's POV?! It's like watching one of those Disney fairytale movies where a wise old man starts it by saying "Once upon a time..."

Anyways, Penn is an extraordinary book and I can't wait to read the rest of this series, followed by Hugo (May 2025), Ambrose (Fall 2025), and Duke (Spring 2026). Jennifer has once again outdone herself and I am beyond excited to continue tagging along her writing journey! <3

Go pick up this book & you can thank me later!!

🌶️🌶️/5

Solidly written, good plot, redeemable MMC & relatable FMC + some well placed spice...This was just so well rounded and had me finishing in 1 day.

Daisy
Relatable, tries her best to be perfect and the golden girl that everyone in the town wants/needs and the perfect daughter. She is drowning under the pressure of everyone's expectations and making decisions not based on what is best for her, but what is best for everyone else even if its killing her. Loved Penn with her entire heart when she was younger.

Peter/Penn
Navy SEAL vet, who had a not so great childhood but isnt emotionally stunted because of it. Knows that he loves Daisy with everything that he is, and once he gets over himself he is ALL IN.

The banter between Penn & Daisy is just perfectly funny and open. Their interactions with the side characters makes you feel like you are part of their friend group and that you get to laugh along with them. The side character support system is top tier especially the steady companionship from Slim Jim.

The love between Penn & Daisy was sweet and Penn's little things to bring Daisy back to him melted my heart alongside her. Especially the thoughtfulness of his "16 missed birthday's". The heartbreak that is coming for Daisy is a thread throughout the book and it makes you understand some of the decisions that she has made/is making in the name of it. Penn is so understanding, and he is seriously the embodiment of a golden retriever/german shepherd for her.

I am so excited to see what the next book in the series will be. I want all of the friends to find their HEA and to still get to see Penn & Daisy.

ARC REVIEW

In this book, Penn returns to his childhood town Olive Township to deal with his late mother’s home, reuniting with his childhood best friend Daisy. However he does it under a different name and initially does not reveal who he truly is, instead watching as she prepares to marry the town wet towel (according to Penn). Once he realizes she doesn’t love Duke (the aforementioned wet towel), everything changes.

I love second chance romance and love that they got their happy ending!! Cannot wait for Hugo’s book since I loved the town. I liked reading about the town and I liked the banter between Penn and Daisy, but I wish Penn had been more forthright in trying to get Daisy. I also think my review is influenced by this being my second ARC of Jennifer’s, the first one being Here For The Cake. That is one of my all time favourite books, so this one was cute but wasn’t a favourite the way HFTC was.

Thank you ValentinePR and Jennifer Millikin for sending me this eARC in exchange of my honest review!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3.75/5)

Penn by Jennifer Millikin had a different feel compared to the other books I’ve read from her, but I still really enjoyed it. It wasn’t exactly what I expected, but that’s not a bad thing—it just had a unique tone and pacing that set it apart.

Penn and Daisy were both fantastic characters. They’ve been through so much, both together and separately, and it was easy to root for them. Their dynamic felt natural, and I loved how they complemented each other in a way that made their connection feel inevitable. They truly were what the other needed.

The small-town atmosphere was another highlight for me. It had that classic, close-knit community vibe where everyone knows everyone’s business—sometimes before you even do! That aspect was super relatable, and it added a lot of charm and humor to the story.

As the series continues, I’m excited to see how it develops, especially with other character perspectives coming into play. Hugo’s story, in particular, has me intrigued. If you love emotional romance with a strong sense of community, Penn is definitely worth picking up!

Penn by Jennifer Millikin was my first book by this author, and I absolutely loved it!! The longing, the pining, the banter, the slow burn—I'm addicted and I need more!! This book had the perfect amount of angst to pull at your heartstrings, and pull at mine it did as I was tearing up 😭. Let's also not forget those moments leading up to the spice —absolutely delicious 🤌🏼.

Penn and Daisy's story is timeless and so beautiful. It began as childhood best friends, and years later, they found each other and got the second chance they deserved!

Olive Township was such a quaint little town, and I cannot wait to see what other stories and secrets this series has in store!!

I’m so excited for this series!

This book is inspired by The Princess Bride and I am. Here. For. It! There’s a few little references if you know what to look for. Like in Princess Bride he says ‘as you wish’ and in this book he says ‘anything for you’. It’s really cute to see the nods!

I like this author so if she writes it I’ll read it. It did take me a little while to really get into this but once the banter started I was fully into it! I loved Penn and Daisy both so much. I love that this seems like a fully planned out series too so there’s crumbs for what will come next. I’m excited! There’s really only one character who is the villain. Everyone else, including Duke, was interesting and/or fun. I can see where Hugo and Ambrose’s stories will go but I’m SO curious about where Duke will land!

Highly recommend if a Princess Bride inspired, small town romance sounds like something you’d be interested in! It does have a little bit of sad in it so be prepared for that.

Penn
By Jennifer Millikin

♾️🌟
🌶🌶🌶 the spice hits at 70%

If Olive Township, Arizona, was a real place, I'd buy real-estate !
Seriously, what a magical town!

Jennifer sets us up in a new series, new town, with new characters to love written in her enchanting method of storytelling!

Daisy & Penn…
Childhood friends
Second chance
Secret Identity
Mutual Pining
“It's always been you”
Engaged with someone else but not in love
Inspired by “The Princess Bride”

Three Families
Overlapping secrets
A series of unfortunate events

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this story!
Daisy, the town sweetheart, is drawn to a mystery man who reminds her of someone. That someone is Penn, the man who was the boy she was in love with over a decade ago! (There's a heartbreaking reason he doesn't look exactly the same!)
I found myself screaming at Penn over and over:
TELL HER!!!!

When the secret is out….SPARKS FLY! BUT WAIT!
Daisy is engaged to Penn's arch rival! Their story is a battle of True Love vs. everybody!

I highly recommend watching The Princess Bride first. The subtle references are note worthy & adorable.

Thank you Jennifer Millikin for my copy of Penn. 🤍 I received this book for review, all opinions are my own and given freely.

Jennifer Millikin is an auto buy author for me, has been since Here For The Cake. I’m making my way through her backlist as well and my word she really is the best. If you haven’t read any of her books yet, you need to!

Penn deserves infinity stars. This book had me feeling all my emotions. I was laughing, swooning, crying at times. Penn is book one in Jen’s new Olive Township series. It’s inspired by The Princess Bride. Tropes include childhood best friends to lovers, secret identity, mutual pining, FMC is engaged but not in love, secrets and spice of course. Penn and Daisy had chemistry, banter and an undeniable connection. I loved them both. I loved the text message banter and often found myself just smiling and kicking my feet at their exchanges. I loved the side characters as well and cannot wait for the other books in this series.

Penn and Daisy are childhood best friends. A tragedy results in Penn leaving town and Daisy in the rearview. Jump to present day, Daisy finds herself in a tangled web and engaged to a man she doesn’t love. Penn returns to town w a secret identity and things get interesting. I don’t want to give much away but to put it simply this book is a must read.

Listen, at this point, if Jenn writes I'm gonna read it. And this was no exception. I'm always such a sucker for second chance romance, especially when it's childhood friends to lovers. This book was easily super bingeable and swoony. And, while I would consider this a slow burn, the spice was ::chefskiss::

What you'll get:
- Small town romance
- Second chance
- Childhood friends to lovers
- Secret pining
- She's engaged to someone else

Ugh I loved them SO much! Thank you for letting me love on them a bit early! I'm forever grateful for you, Jenn!

Best contemporary I have ever read.

I love every single character in this book 😭 some really uncommon / unused tropes which is refreshing (and no pregnancy yay!) I actually cried towards the end and I literally never cry lol. Penn is quite literally the dreamiest book boyfriend. P.s. he falls first ☺️

Jennifer Milliken continues to bring us one solid romance after the other. Her writing sucks you into a fabulous story that is unique and feels a bit different than others and I mean that in the best way.

In Penn we get the endearing small town of Olive Township with a cast of characters I fell in love with. Daisy is about to embark on a marriage of convenience when childhood friend Penn returns to town, unrecognizable with a hidden identity. Sparks soon fly between the two and their connection is absolutely undeniable.

The banter and pining was high, as were the many sweet and SWOONY moments dispersed between the secrets, familial expectations and grief. It was emotional and heart warming and had the slowest of burns, but it was so worth the wait!!!

Jennifer set up the series beautifully and I can not wait for Hugo’s story!

This was such an emotional rollercoaster that I couldn't put down once I hit the 50% mark! The first half of the book starts off a bit slow, but once the tension started building, everything clicked into place, and I became completely hooked on Daisy and Penn's story.

I truly appreciated how real the emotions felt, especially as Daisy and Penn navigate the remnants of their past and try to make sense of the strong connection they still have. The twists, the secrets, and the raw vulnerability in their relationship kept me hooked!

✨ princess bride inspired

✨ childhood friends to strangers to lovers
✨ she’s engaged to someone else
✨ small town

The privilege to beta read this story and the rest why I’m so in love with Jennifer’s writing. Penn is her first book in her newest series. With a take on the princess bride, throwing in some childhood friends to strangers to lovers, the angst she takes on this book had me unable to put this book down until the very last word was written.

Daisy and Penn aka Peter were the perfect mix of right person wrong time until Penn can’t keep himself away. Wanting to hide from Daisy she becomes the first person he sees being back and once he sees her he doesn’t see anything else. But she’s engaged, to Duke. There’s jealousy, mutual pining, and a dose of spice you can’t deny.

This book was so beautifully written, the most vivid and captivating story. I’m so ready for the world to dive into Penn and Daisy in just 10 short days 😍😩

So much yes!!

We find ourselves in Olive Township, a town filled with history, love, and endless possibilities.

Following the loss of his mother, Penn returns home after being gone for 15 years to take care of some business that’s left there. With the hopes of remaining hidden while in town, he comes back under a fake name, but what he’s not expecting is to immediately cross paths with the one girl he was trying to hide from, the one who’s always had his heart, Daisy. She’s the town sweetheart and his childhood best friend who he also happened to have been in love with. Lucky for him she doesn’t recognize him but things don’t go as smoothly as he planned and no matter how hard he tries to avoid her, Penn and Daisy always seem to find themselves around each other. He quickly starts to realize that leaving may not be as easy as he thought it would be, especially after he finds out more and more about what’s been happening with the girl who holds his heart.

This was such a fun read. It’s filled with the sweetest love, adorable banter, an abundance of chemistry and attraction, and a whole cast of characters that weave their way into your heart. There were some heavier topics mentioned such as parental illness and loss. Having gone thru a similar situation to the characters affected by it the relatability definitely had me crying at some parts, but it was also healing in some ways at the same time. I absolutely loved the relationship between Penn and Daisy. They are the cutest match up in every way. Their friendship was filled with love and support, and the way they’re drawn to each other had such a natural feeling to it that it was very easy to believe. The banter between them was adorable and funny!! There were a couple moments that had me giggling out loud and kicking my feet a bit. I honestly loved everything about this and I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in this series.

Jennifer Millikin was one of my favorite discoveries of 2024- and I’ve since been gobbling up her stories! No matter the trope so f the vibe, I know it’s going to be a heart-hitting and emotionally rich story. I love most of all her feel-good, swoony, and banter-ific stories- where her penchant for emotional substantive character arcs is blended with her truly charming humor and her wonderfully unique characters.

When I first heard this series was Princess Bride inspired, I knew it was going to be loads of fun! And play to everything I love about Jennifer Millikins writing- the deft way she blends quirky charm, cleverly and witty banter, and effortless swoons plays so perfectly with that vibe! Penn was so sweet and swoony and fun. It’s playful, it’s endearing, and most of all, it filled me heart right up.

Penn and Daisy are just so charming together. And like most Jennifer heroes, Penn owned me. He’s such a good guy- and a champ woo-er. He’s thoughtful and accepting and is the epitome of what it looks like to truly love someone for who they are. I love how he sees safety and makes it safe for her to be herself, he expects nothing of her (when so many do) other than for her just to be Daisy as she is. And I love how they both seem to balance each other and anchor each other in the best way. Not to mention, their chemistry is so fun. Sweet, emotional, but also full of banter and humor.

“I only mark myself with things that own my heart. The SEALs. And a woman named Daisy.”

I mean talk about SWOON. And Penns grand gestures? His man obsessed energy? LAWDY I melted for him. They are perfect together- This story melted me. I can't wait for more from the Olive Township world!

A childhood friends to lovers retelling of The Princess Bride? Amazing.

Penn was such a fantastic book. I loved the small town with all of its charm and quirks, as well as the lovable characters - especially Penn and Daisy.

You never forget your first love. For Penn and Daisy, they always were it for each other. Growing up in Olive Township, they always had one another and grew up to be best friends. Until one day, Penn makes a mistake and an accident happens that not only changes the trajectory of Penn and Daisy’s friendship, but their lives forever. Their friendship and lives are uprooted and Penn suddenly leaves town and never comes back.

As time goes on, Penn and Daisy are never far from one another’s memories or mind. And when Daisy becomes engaged to another man in Olive Township, the past seems to come around full circle and Daisy and Penn’s lives cross paths again unexpectedly when a man named Peter comes in to town.

Peter’s in charge of Penn’s old home. He’s a little gruff, has scars from his time as a SEAL, and he seems to be magnetically drawn to Daisy wherever she is.

Continued meetings and unexpected time together causes whispers of familiarity and safety that Daisy has held close to her heart. Why does Peter seem so familiar? Does he know Penn?

As Daisy’s engagement to her friend, and the town golden boy, Duke, gets closer to her wedding day, secrets and hidden identities are revealed. Mistakes are made, the town gossip mill is in full force, true love prevails, and a delicious sandwich might just save the day.

The banter and playfulness in this story has me giggling and rooting for the two main characters. You WANT their happy ending! Thank you Jennifer and Valentine PR for this amazing book!

Review Title & Vibes:
{PENNy for My Thoughts?} I am so glad you asked. I LOVED THIS BOOK! First - The Princess Bride is one of my favorite childhood movies… take all those good vibes and make it into a contemporary small town childhood friends to lovers book by one of my favorite authors — I’M ALL IN!

Penn is a retired Navy Seal returning to his childhood hometown in Arizona’s Sonoran Desert while trying to keep a low profile. He’s charming, but a little jaded by life. He’s ripped, tatted, and all grown up. AND he still hasn’t gotten over his true love.

Daisy is the town’s princess engaged to the town golden boy. When a mysterious stranger comes to town who can see straight past the mask she wears - she can’t deny the chemistry.

I loved the “It’s me, Penn” moments, the (seemingly small) grand gestures, the raw emotions (heartbreaking childhood / parental illness), the jealous rage. I love the best friend banter and small town gossip. True love in all its forms. Every nod to the movie (check out the Penn’s Princess Bride Bingo Card in stories) and easter eggs from more of Jen’s books. And talk about a slow burn to the perfect amount of spice. AND I love the extra special POV - such an intriguing way to drop clues!

I’ll just be over here (not) waiting patiently for the rest of this series.

If you love The Princess Bride, you have to read this book. It’s inspired by the movie, and there are so many references and Easter eggs sprinkled throughout it. Olive Township is a quaint, welcoming, charming small town and is the perfect backdrop for Daisy and Penn’s story. They were best friends growing up, and have loved each other for their entire lives. They haven’t seen each in 15 years, but the feelings are still there, even if they can’t be together. Penn is all in from the first page. He is the definition of a golden retriever hero: sweet, kind, thoughtful, doting, and there for Daisy no matter what she needs. This was such a cute, sweet second chance, friends to lovers romance with banter, great characters, and a little spice.

Penn and Daisy’s story is so sweet, but filled with so much pining and longing.

☀️Small town romance
☀️Hidden identity
☀️Childhood friends
☀️Mutual pining

Penn and Daisy were inseparable when they were in their early teens, until an accident tears the apart and forces Penn to move away.

Now here we are over a decade later and life has completely changed for them both. Penn is recovering from getting injured as a Navy Seal and losing his mother and Daisy is actively losing her mother, while engaged to another man. Penn doesn’t want to up and ruin Daisy’s HEA, so he pretends to be someone else and the two of them learn to fall in love without pretense of the past. But what will happen when she finds out he’s been hiding who he was?

I really enjoyed this book! The longing and the pining was so fantastically done. I loved how they were able to fall in love even before she found out Penn was Penn.

There are so many great side characters that I’m hoping we get stories from in the future!

Hannah Chiclana and Edward Black are both new to me narrators and I definitely want to listen to more of their work! I felt they told this story just so beautifully.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK!!

Penn and Daisy who are childhood best friends and are brought back together years later after Penn disappears from town. Now that Penn is back in town to finish up some things had a plan to keep his head down and stay away from Daisy. Except one night when he runs into her and all notions to stay away can’t be true. These two absolutely can’t get enough of each other despite some obstacles… All is fair in the quest for true love.

These two are everything!! All the little moments between them had my heart! They both are going through some tough challenges and the connection they further make because of it was everything and more!

The audiobook was so amazing! I love when I feel so involved in the characters and the storyline. The narrators truly outdid themselves! They captured Penn and Daisy’s characters so well. I felt as if I really got to know these characters and who they are. Also absolutely LOVEDDD how the narrators created a deeper dynamic between our characters. They already have a history and being back in each other’s lives and you truly get to see that longing and tension even more through this audio!

*Please note before reading this book deals with loss of a parent

Thank you so much to Jennifer and Valentine PR for an ALC to review!!

Perfect

When I read that this book is a little take on The Princess Bride, I was sold! I love that movie.

Penn and Daisy's story is so good. So romantic. I loved it. Penn and Daisy were best friends when they were young and he would do anything for her. When they were 13, an accident happened and Penn and his mom left. Fifteen years later, Penn returns and doesn't tell anyone who he really is but he sees Daisy and can't stay away.

Daisy, having a hard day, ends up having a man she doesn’t know come up to her and she gets a little fiesty before reigning it in. Never be anything but perfect. Daisy is getting married but there's definitely a secret on why she's marrying who she is. She is also having some strong reactions to the "stranger" too.

Read this book to find out what happens and the magic of Olive Township. Just loved this and the side characters. Can't wait for all of their stories!
