Pack Security by Crissy Smith

Book Ten in the Were Chronicles series

A shy, sexy artist and a man tormented by his past are thrown together for protection and security. It may be up to the two of them to save the Pack…if they can save each other first.

Cassandra Wilson’s world was just turned upside down. Someone broke into her studio and destroyed the art she’d put her heart and soul into. Pressure from her older brother and her Alpha has her accepting protection from the Beta’s brother Max. She finds the ex-military, non-shifter a sexy distraction. But when reality breaks through and reminds Cass that someone is after her, will Max be able to save her?

Max Lawson knows he needs to get his act together. The last mission that forced him from the military still haunts him. When he’s asked to help guard one of the women in the Pack, Max isn’t sure he’s the right man for the job. Since he is the only non-shifter around, he’s never really felt like he belongs with the others. However, he owes his brother and accepts the job. Cassandra isn’t anything like he imagined. She’s strong and stubborn and he finds himself falling for her.

Max needs to fix himself before he can even think about being the kind of man that Cassandra deserves. Resisting the sweet, sexy artist is easier said than done. When danger threatens to take her away before Max can prove himself to her, he must use everything within himself to fight. Whether he can shift…or not..

I live in Texas with my husband, daughter, and three Labrador retrievers. By day you can find me at my 'day job' buried under a pile of paperwork but at night I am at my computer creating new worlds!

I have always loved the paranormal. Shape-shifters, witches, and vampires have been my number one choice of reading material so when I strated to write it was the genre I chose.

I currently have several books released through Totally Bound. I have one long running series the Were Chronicles and in March 2014 a spin-off series the Shifter Chronicles will be revealed.

I also have several stand alone novellas and novels.

I am working hard to bring more stories to the readers so they can sit back and relax while losing themselves in the paranormal romance world.

It's here! Today is release day and I am so excited to bring you book ten in the Were Chronicles series.

There were several things i wanted to happen in this story. First, we get to revisit the non-shifter part of the series. Not since the very first book have we seen another non-shifter. I share Max's point of view on the issue and his struggles. Second, we meet two families that will have our attention for three books together. And third, we have a plotline in which Cassie's art has been ruined and Max is there to protect her. Of course the bad guys are caught but that is not the main focus of the book.

This is a love story. On how two people struggle to let go of the past so they can concentrate on their future.

Max and Cassie have a long way to go. We'll see this in the next several books as the lives of the Canyon Pack are featured.

We haven't spent alot of time with a Pack that chose to remain hidden when the other shifters came out.

The Canyon Pack is one of the Packs that decided to stay in the background. And book ten Pack Security starts their story.

Of course we'll have pop ins from some of our favroite charcaters but this set will be strongly linked together.

I hope you enjoy.

Crissy smith has done it AGAIN! Amazingly written new addition this story is. It is no secret I love this author but this book was great. Usually when a series goes on this long the author starts to repeat or lose their flair. That is nt the case here this series gets better and better!

Pack Security (Were Chronicles Book 10) by Crissy Smith

A great continuation of the Were Chronicles, short, hot and steamy and a very enjoyable read.

Crissy Smith writing is fantastic, easy to read and each book has its own story but also has characters from the other books. I love it.

Cassandra Wilson is in need of protection. Her studio/home was just broken into and her brother is worried for her safety. Max Lawson is a war veteran that is trying to get his life in order since he returned from duty. He is still having nightmares about his last mission but he wants to help the pack and become useful again.

Max was such a great character. He wasn't so broken that I felt he was irredeemable but he had just enough baggage that showed he was human (well shifter) and relatable. With Cassie she has such a kind spirit and is generous with those she loves. When things start to progress with Max she has no problem letting him know that she wants to be with him. I loved that they were was no beating around the bush. When the two meet there is an instant attraction but they keep their hormones in check and get to know each other first.

This is book ten in the Were Chronicles series and it is best read in order. Each book is a novella about a different couple but there is a continuing story arc throughout. There is also a set up, or at least a vague hint, at the end of each book for the next in the series. There are some reoccurring characters from previous books in the series that appear but they don't have a lot of page time. This book focuses on Cassie and Max. I did enjoy Cassie's brother Alex and Max's brother Chase. I am hoping that they will each get a book soon.

Pack Security is book ten in the Were Chronicles series. I hadn’t read any of the previous books, and while I think doing so would have helped me get a feel for the author’s writing style and give me a little bit of the Pack’s history, I don’t think I missed out on too much by reading this as a stand-alone. I think it’s difficult for an author to fit a complete, well-rounded story in less than a hundred pages. I liked some parts of this book and found it to be lacking in some other areas.

Really waited for Max's story. The story was nice addition to the series. The stories all all connected so its better to read the previous books where at some point all of characters are mentioned or present. The plot of all this break-in and who the culprit is was a bit rushed for me but the development between Max and Cassie was great.
