I’ve heard more than a few of those when people talk about me, and I have even felt the same way my damn self. I didn’t know what I wanted. I mean, I knew what I wanted.
I wanted marriage, love, and the commitment that I made to my husband – ex-husband. I’ve found myself confused after my divorce to Naheim. It would have been easier to stay and forgive him for something that broke me. It would have been easier for him to stay and forgive me for sleeping with one of his friends.

Capri is back from her Eat Pray Love journey and we now get to see Big Pri aka Suga aka Big Mama in action, or so we thought. 😒 Now I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this first installment of Capri was not what I expected at all! 🗣️AT ALL!!
If you’re here then you’ve read Capone and Cappadona. What we as readers know so far is that Capri was enlisted to help her brothers stay out of prison by taking on a undercover position to infiltrate the DAs office and bring down a crooked system hell bent on bringing down her family. The way this read in Cappadonna 3.5, this mission seemed pretty urgent and almost immediate. HOWEVER, Capri has been gone for an entire year and there has been zero movement with this alleged assignment.
What we got in Capri was recycle ♻️ energy. We got another bitter baby mama, one that has the least room to be bitter because the b!tch is married. We got a highway shootout. We got secret relatives that will now take away from Capri’s storyline trying to figure out the part he plays in everything. We got pointless plots and POVs and we were introduced to “friends” that a lawyer should be able to read as a clear enemy.
Aimee and Capella, Capella and Aimee, why are we still reading about them?! I can’t deal with the stupidity of these youths. Capella put himself in an unnecessary position when he should’ve gotten his fried rice and went tf home. We knew and he knew what was going to happen the minute he opened his mouth. Why are you bringing unnecessary heat to your families name especially when there a target already on their back…… allegedly. 😵💫 Then there’s Aimee and her “family”. We know that blood doesn’t make someone family but also why are we so hell bent on these ppl who knew your trauma being in you and your son’s life. What else must they do or say to prove they don’t fk with you?
Capri? Why we still crying over Nahiem and Kincaid? I thought that’s what this journey of self discovery was about. Healing…. You seem just as broken as when you left.
Quameer was the only highlight of this story for me! He gives real crazy 🥷 energy! It was definitely the backseat pop out for me. I’m enjoying his character just as much as I did when he was first introduced and I can’t wait for more of him. I love the relationship he has with Ryder, Quasim and Gam and my heart breaks for them all for different reasons.
I have a lot more that I want to say about the start of this series but I’m over it at the moment. And no this is not me telling the author how to write her book. This is me taking what we know, what we expected and what we got and breaking that down because 1+1 shouldn’t have us at 34. I’m going to read 1.5 but if the story doesn’t take a different direction I won’t continue to read the series because it’s not fair to me or the author.

2.5 ⭐️This honestly felt like a filler book but the twist at the end makes me want to read book 2 because things aren’t making sense. The foundation for this book wasn’t there … After a year of healing I was expecting Capri to have more confidence and trust in herself. It’s looking like she left for no reason 🤣. I loved Meer giving BDE. I feel like old issues/beef from the previous books shouldn’t be dragged into Capri’s book. Also I’m still waiting on Capri to actually be a lawyer and wasn’t she suppose to be going undercover or something like that?

It’s good, but—and it’s a big but—I really don’t want to read more about Capella and Aimee, because Aimee’s conflict feels drawn out and stupid. The family that never treated you well learns you were raped and all they can do is come to you begging? No apologies no kindness just asking for money and then tryna bully you for it? What does her family have to do to show they hate her any more. Like Miss author don’t give that girl another page cus PLEASE. Give them a novella or a novelette, but enough is enough. After getting to know Capri through the other stories, I want to focus on her. I appreciate the other happily-in-love couples, but it’s just too much. Honestly, with all the drama she has going on, we don’t need anyone else’s stories unless they tie directly into hers. As an author, you can’t say, “Let Capri be Capri,” when she’s not like her brothers, yet they pop up in every other chapter.
My issues with Capri are that she comes off as desperate, not the badass the author wants us to believe she is. She feels entitled to Quameer’s vulnerability just because Kincaid, her sneaky link, kept his business private?! Like, girl, get it together. You’ve played yourself TWICE. Sure, communicate your desires, but also, chill out. It’s pretty wishy-washy when she claims Qua is a man of action who shows her all the time, yet she gets mad that he isn’t spilling his woes? Next up this kinda on the author but I thought we was heading in a different directions with this tale. I thought Capri was gonna get on her Bossed up working corporate baddie vibe yet we not getting that. It just feels like a continuation from Cappadonna. Ima relax and let the author cook cus it’s book one but….
Next issue I have with Capri, is her people-pleasing. Why are you hanging around someone you don’t even like? Let’s be real: you graduated from college/law school, so you’re at least 25. Why aren’t you using some discernment? If something feels off, just leave that girl in college. You are NOT friends, and it’s making her seem weird. Like I get you want that companionship but you have to hide most of your life from them other birds so like why even call them your friend?
Now, Quameer has been my guy since he first showed up, but I don’t agree with how he’s been carrying all his burdens without talking about his life because of Brandi. That feels like a weak excuse—where has he shared his struggles with her at all? All we know is that she was “too good” for him and he didn’t vibe with her family, yet he chose to have a baby with her because he “loved” her? Go sit on that therapist's couch with your brother! He’s got all the smoke for Quasim and his tragic life, but he can’t see how his actions aren’t even his own. TEAPOT, MEET KETTLE.
Overall, I really enjoy this author’s style and storytelling, but in her attempts at world-building, it feels like we end up with filler that just gets over-explained in the next book. Everything should flow together seamlessly. Sometimes it seems she gets so caught up in connecting the stories that she emphasizes insignificant parts. For example, why end on a cliffhanger introducing a new relative? We don’t need any more C names, especially when the main C we’re focused on already has enough going on! I get the contractual agreements, but it makes the experience feel choppy and disjointed. Yes, we know cliffhangers are a thing, but they often feel abrupt.
* also side note Blair was chill in all the other books why is she a screaming scared mess in this one… like maybe being close to death with the cancer shook up up but if she scary like y’all claim why yall tryna make her and a know gangster a thing? WTH she gonna do with Quasim?

Now, Quameer (Big Pa 😏) is already giving me all the feels, and I’m rooting for them heavy. But that ending? Oh, nah. Nasty work. Who the F? Excuse me?! Whet?!

Capri was the story that I just couldn't wait for. I knew that it went so much deeper than what we got during Capone and Cappadonna. The friendship that she built with Meer said something and it said a lot more than the relationships she had with Kinkaid and even Naheim. I can't wait to see how this series plays out. I know that this bachelorette trip is going to be some mess, and I know that Corleone is going to leave us wanting more. Jahquel is the queen of plot twists and cliff hangers, and I am here for it.

The way I waited for this book. I have been anticipating Capri’s come up and healing journey. She’s been through so much and I just needed her to win. For herself and my future husband Meer. That man chile. Talk about swoon. I loved every minute of him in this book and we’re just getting started. Him hopping out that trunk sent me lmao. Meer told Capri don’t play with him 🤣. He ready to crash out behind her every time. I loved it!
I can’t believe they have a whole brother just hidden. The amount of trouble Ms.Jean give Capri y’all got some explaining to do. I can’t wait to get the tea!

Capri is definitely misunderstood and undervalued. She truly loves her people and would do whatever for them and that can be a good or bad thing at times. She pissed me off so much in her brother’s stories but getting to see her perspective I can truly understand her more!

I wanted to wait until I’m finished with Capri’s series before I gave this rating. I’m currently on Capri 2.5 so I figured I’d leave my review now. I can say that so far this is my favorite installment of the Capri series. Book one to me felt like it focused the most on Capri and Quameer and their love story/growth. The tension, and longing is something I wished carried on into the other books. It became less about them and more about the people around them. I love Big Pa and Big Mama so much, I just wish they were more of the focal point. I didn’t mind the slow burn at all!

One thing for sure Jahquel knows how to tell a story! Baby doll has come home after a long year. She’s on her grown woman ish and her “bestie” Meer is ready to take that step but while that love blooms enemies are lurking to take down the Delgato family. I was here for everything in this book. This book is definitely a set up for future books, setting the scene so to speak. The plot keeps you on the edge of your seat and that ending I am speechless. I need the next installment immediately!

Sis is back from her year of Eat, Pray, Love and while in a better headspace doesn't appear to have learned how to apply those boundaries she so needs and has all the wrong people Still in her face.
The seasons highlight is Quameer! Who takes 2 steps forward and 3 steps back. Willing to be Capri's everything as long as he doesn't have to share any of himself...

It started off slow for me, and probably because I took a break from the series before starting season three is probably what caused me to read this book slow. But about 35% in it kicked back up.

Based off of how Cappadonna 3.5 ended, I was excited to get into the Capri series. There are five other books after this one, but this one was a disappointment to me. I was expecting to see Capri take the time that she needed away from family and friends. I wanted to see what she did, how she grew, the whole nines. The book starts with her landing back in town and throughout the book, it seems like she should have stayed for five years because nothing was learned. I hate the fact that she left to “find herself” and not for a man, but the moment she is back in the company that she left, she fell right back to her old ways. Her and Quameer’s friendship seemed cool at first, but she didn’t need to leave for a year if she was still going to be tied to what she was running away from. Even with their friendship growing, she still not communicating fully with what she needs or wants, and accepting dates from other guys that she doesn’t really want. So what exactly did she leave for a year and learn about herself? How is she applying it now that she’s with familiar faces? I thought based off what Cappadonna’s 3.5 book was starting to introduce Capri as was a spy in government to help her family and I was looking forward to see how that plays out or at least the training. Maybe it’ll come up in the next books, maybe not…but I know for this one, I was disappointed in her actions. The cliffhanger tho. Leave it to the author to having you wanting to know what happens next.

I'm giving this one a 3.75 stars. I was waiting on Capri book. The author fell short. I was expecting jaw dropping scenes. It was moving slow. Once again, these supporting characters get a chapter at the end of the book. Then I'm at 97% and the story gets good. Boom! It ends.

This book highlights Capri returning from traveling and finally being ready for love and whatever life has in store for her. Little does she know that Meer is prepared to be that and more! Ugh, so good! I’m running to the next book!!

No rhyme or reason
I do not like Capri but, I was hoping for some reason to continue this series. I must have missed the book where Ace and his mom was taking out. The Capri story is hypocrisy at its best. She can get away sleeping with her friend's man in college but is pissed with her friend for doing the same to her. She is getting a pass for sleeping with a man her husband worked with but makes him the bad guy and outcast for sleeping with her former friend. They both were wrong. Now she's sleeping with another guy that works with her ex husband and he has the nerve to down her ex. Which makes them both lowdown. She's free to cheat if she wants but, in my opinion she's way worse. You don't go from homie to homie. Usually people in this type of families they don't cross those lines. Its disgusting and lowdown. I like these types of stories. The Deluca families are one of my favorite and they would never cross those lines. Aimee is determined to be a knuckle head. I thought Erin was bad. I'm going to give this series a break for now. Because its hard to root for Capri.

Its disgusting and lowdown. I like these types of stories. The Deluca families are one of my favorite and they would never cross those lines. Aimee is determined to be a knuckle head. I thought Erin was bad. I'm going to give this series a break for now. Because its hard to root for Capri.
